 that yardarm.... ;)

Really .. these people are scandalous.

Surely Media Matters…. or SImon Rosenberg, or Debbie Rappaport (still in touch? hmmm? ) or someone can help these people LOOK better…. ooops no… I called on people who are part of the MESS.

Trippi?, ooops no.  The man who could not count 1s and 2s in Iowa.  He’s no help!

Did they learn NOTHING from Nixon from Reagan…. from Clinton… who parsed “is” … from Bush… either one…

Can these people learn?

Or is all about as much money as fast as they can get it, jam the “clients” thru, hell few are gonna win… check The Hill, July 5they don’t PLAN to win. (bolding in the clip is mine)

A Democratic challenger need not pass any policy litmus test to earn endorsement; the four bloggers merely need to agree to go ahead. The endorsements depend on the candidate’s having won a measure of support from bloggers in his or her district.

Crucially, the candidate does not have to have a good chance of winning. Bowers said their hope is to “stretch Republican defenses” and turn less-noticed races into top-tier races, which will encourage more activity on the Internet.

But do they advertise STRATEGIC working of elections with little to no chance to win?  Don’t think so.

Pull up a chair, order a drink or a mineral water (I know it looks like a frozen vodka bar, I liked the colors… ;)and dissect this DKos diary all to hell… and the thread too, of course!!.

First off, observer posted to an earlier thread here at MCAT the diary (the original diary at issue, profiled in the diary today at Dkos) and Richard Silverstein’s own dissection of how he was treated … it was posted here to the FP, between 8 and 9 am….

presto chango and a few hours…..  Cause celebre over at Dkos.

Whup the Pups Update… 8:55 am, PT

Political Chew Toys on offer.  Imported from comments in the previous thread [thanks observer]:

Richard Silverstein’s diary at Dkos and his analysis of the (can we say rabid lambs?) reaction, from his own site.  The way I see it, we have literally retreated – under fire – each to our own Castle Keep…  I feel that way!

One thing Kos most certainly did during the period he was growing from diapers to training pants was foster a much broader site than what is now just a tabloid machine to aim and fire.  All it is…

And he bleats when MSM takes fire… Popcorn!

Much drahma.  And a ride to the top.  That is all that matters, Right? ??

And look at the miscreants gather.  Armando TOO.  Thugs, women assists… minions… When all else fails they accuse anti semitism.  Tsk Tsk another one of those friendly attys, FOK Friend of Kos…

So neo con of them.  And all the heavies are just so… innocent.  Like Putti in the church…

 Who are these people??

And why is transparency so hard for them.

Lickspittle Update…  6:15 pm, PT

Awwww.  Such valor, such passion.  My my.  But is he still an admin at MLW with full access?

see… who is who here.  And what influence is where

I mean, over and over, there is such Kabuki drahma in public.  Such show pieces.

See what I mean?  T-R-A-N-S-P-A-R-E-N-C-Y.

Y’all need it.

**************************************************************

The oh puh-leeze update.  And stop calling it a political blog update.

And get a room update.  6:50 pm, PT

Diversion. It’s what they do when the going gets rough.  They divert.

***********************************************************************

Please Update.  THE Please update.  Please get a room Update.

A poster is even ASKING that this go to email

I say if this is a snit n spit fit between MSOC and Armando then it is is just tired days on that small island where all these people went seriously crazy and fell in love with their navels.  Or the tats near their navels.  Or their friends’ navels.

Puh leeeze, get a room.  And again:  stop calling it a political site.

It’s NOT.

Come to think of it, how dare Kos be bitchy about political protest (and hippies and whatever else) when Dkos is barely more than an interpersonal dunking site.

ewwwwwwww.

************************************************************************

Whup those pups Update… just for fun… ;)   This update is lagniappe.

sigh. angst. (0 / 0)

meta crap.

leaves the worst taste in one’s mouth. especially with a potentially HUGE election coming up on our ass.

Oh … so sweet.  Just sweet.  They think the assault is over.  Did they not read Byron York … such a gentle warning of what was to come.  Rather vague boy, so he was gentle.  Who knows from where it will come, next.

It was a sort of … Mainstream Swarm.  They knew about “hurricanes” before Blahhggers were born.

It certainly goes back, at least, to Easter.  But, like the Newsweek piece and the assertion that Opinionator behind the TimesSelect walll was… nothing… they seem to have missed the point.

As usual.

*************************************************************************

hmmm…this is the lagniappe.  Knight Ridder from the blushing days just after the Stratosphere party… truly, it is not possible to parody these people.  Not.possible.

Quite a few phrases in the reporting that will be eaten… soon.

Full Disclosure:   The Pre-Raphaelite version.  LOL  As it happens it includes a long strip of comments “hidden” in the original June 27 diary of Richard Silverstein that started this all off.

I must thank observed who posted the original info w/ links, now three postings back at MCat..

Let’s hear it for the American Way!  Truth Honor Loyalty Oaths and Pledges!… and a nice bunch of fasces held tight ….  I always say, more than legs will be spread at Dkos..!

Have a laugh… ;)    And no, I am not done.

My fav Armando quote I have seen so far:

I am as knowledgable on the issue as anyone not named Markos or Jerome. From Zephyr to Zengerle, none of you know as much about it as I do. That is a fact.

All it needs is the SO SHUT THE FUCK UP.

2. NYCO - 8 July 2006

LOL…

Subject: Everyone Unrecommend Any Meta Diary Now

And do not recommend this one. And do not write a follow up diary to the Diary That Must Not be Named. And if you already have, no matter how good it may be, no matter how proud you are of your writing, no matter how many comments it has, delete it. And do not complain about the one we call ‘A.’

If you have a problem with a diarist, any diarist, please email Markos. See the “Contact Us” button to your right? Click on it. Email the powers that be your complaint.

Don’t look at it, Marion! Keep your eyes shut!

Er… who is the one we call ‘A’?

3. Deepest Troat - 8 July 2006

Armando, Minister of Truth in Kos-land
The thoughts require thought, review, fact checking, analysis PRIOR to publishing. [Add name here] is a Kossack, now a prominent blogger, a friend of Markos and daily kos. You have higher responsibilities now. More care is required from you.

Orwell’s 1984:
The primary job of the Ministry of Truth was to supply the citizens of Oceania with newspapers, films, textbooks, telescreen programmes, plays, novels – with every conceivable kind of information, instruction, or entertainment, from a statue to a slogan, from a lyric poem to a biological treatise, and from a child’s spelling-book to a Newspeak dictionary.

I am sorry that statement alone has now stepped into creepy land.

4. NYCO - 8 July 2006

Even funnier is this exchange down in the comments.

Poster 1: As I posted in WYFP: emailing Kos won’t accomplish shit.

Poster 2: Why not?

Poster 1: Kos himself said a long time ago that he doesn’t really read his email.

Poster 2: He may not read all of it, but he definitely reads some of it – I’ve gotten answers before. I see it as like Catholic prayer. You should pray to God because ultimately He’s the one who can really get things done, but while you’re doing so, pray to some saints as well because they can intercede for you with Him. But every now and then you do get through to Him.

5. NYCO - 8 July 2006

Oh dear. I troll-rated the Minister of Truth, it seems! Was I not supposed to do that?

6. marisacat - 8 July 2006

hmmm I think AnonymousArmy is a sock puppet for one of the … near principles.

LOL

7. Deepest Troat - 8 July 2006

I know for a fact AA is a Repub operative. He has worked with the Repubs to discredit Bev. He was part of the Andy v Bev flame war.

8. bayprairie - 8 July 2006

what those orangish, proto-stalinist blo(g)ck leaders really lack is puritanical integrity.

9. JJB - 8 July 2006

Bravo, NYCO!

I was banned for troll rating him and mcjoan in a thread where they were doing their storm trooper act, verbally abusing anyone who disagreed with them, and troll rating them. So I went through the thread and gave “0s” to their most objectionable posts. After about 10 minutes, my ability to rate was gone. So much for the notion that only Kos himself can do that, he was off on his book tour at the time.

I hadn’t posted any comments in months at that point anyway, and I figured something like that would happen.

Here’s another fun diary where someone with the really charming handle of “StupidA**hole” claims that El Caudillo has troll rating capabilities above and beyond those of normal TUs. The ensuing dialogue is insipid even by present day dKos standards.

10. marisacat - 8 July 2006

hey hey… bay! How are you!

11. Stevo - 8 July 2006

Marisa

That Kos link is hilarious, and scarily incestous too. Reading the Ann Coulter of the left battle the WalMart progressive is great sport. Clearly, well past the best before date.

12. Deepest Troat - 8 July 2006

It is hard to argue that Kos-land in not Orwellian and when it comes to troll rating limit, some are more equal than others.

13. Deepest Troat - 8 July 2006

Kos mad, Kos destory “blog that criticizes anything Murtha.

Is it disapears, the so-called anti-kos TNR has it too.

14. marisacat - 8 July 2006

I dunno… doesn’t that “email” read like a joke? Not that it means much, Kos has surely issued some barking edicts.

sigh… so hard to keep track of the nuttiness.

15. Stevo - 8 July 2006

When’s the last time you got laid? (7+ / 12-)

Seriously. You sound like a guy who can’t get a girl.

Ok, semi-retired from blogging. Returning fulltime in December.

Just a sampling of the deep intellectual debates that occurs regularly on Big Orange. Can’t wait til December- must be getting a new job :)

16. Deepest Troat - 8 July 2006

You can’t be an effective Administer opps I mean Minister at the Ministry of Truth without knowing the ins and outs of all the Blahggers, and that goes for MLW too.

*[new] As I told you there (0.00 / 0)
a special trip? I happen to be an Admin here with FP privileges.

You called my comments trolling.

Talk about mindless Groupthink.

hmmm

17. observer - 8 July 2006

Chait in Sunday’s LAT is hard on our besieged Orangemen and their “strategy” here.

It’s good to see The Hill get a little closer to the truth, and wouldn’t the contributors love to know how their money is being used. But The Hill folks are still granting some higher pnnciple, some greater cause than the immediate victory that’s driving the strategy.

Eventually, all but those most rabid lambs will see it’s all about cha-ching. Politicians, football teams, stocks, stars. What’s the difference? And who better to cozy up to than politicians whose checks will never bounce?

Sushi and chocolate all ’round.

BTW, I’d give MSOC some credit, but it should have been no surprise that rational discussion would not be the product. Never happens. The thugs will be there, but the most frustrating thing are those who just miss the point entirely. “3’s” and “2’s” will solve it all!

It’s more fun being “agitators, ” no?

18. observer - 8 July 2006

Oops. I missed this. Direct from the battleground state’s capital:

Just Kos? The Lamont/Lieberman primary is a constant topic for political blogs and online activists. Will an online squabble affect the race?

I suspect the Lieberman camp will be responding with more than a sigh before this is over.

19. NYCee - 9 July 2006

Well the discussion is certainly more interesesting on MsOC’s blog than on DKos. There are some character’s there on MLW who have a thing or two to say. Some are funny. Interesting.

Not so much the Kos traffic.

Armando is such a buffoon. Really. I see him as I do Ann Coulter. Why be a part of the pro or anti Armando cult, hovering around his outlandish utterances to kiss or diss him? Either way it’s meaningless and boring, diversionary, and sucks up so much oxygen when there are so many more worthwhile issues that need attention.

That was creepy though, the way he lectured Maryscott on her duties. Reminds me of one of the whacked out husbands in Stepford Wives.

Hey, I guess I am having a little fun, looking at him from the outside here. Must be because here, blessed be, NO ONE is taking him seriously. Which is as it should be. Uh huh!

20. D. Throat - 9 July 2006

Sorry but no cigar.

All MSOC is doing is what the Dems establishment does for GOP… substantiate their lies.

Sorry but even a blind two year could figure out that Kos IS using his online influence to INFLUENCE Jerome’s clients.

The only “issue” that has gotten Kos hot under the collar is the issue of FEC finance disclosure of money to blogs. For now he can hide where the money is coming from… but for how long. And it is a hell of a lot of money he has earned in such a short time…houses in SF ain’t cheap…. which imo is why he has so much control because all the little unemployed blogspits want to make money like him… this is the quickest and the most efficient way of getting the “independent-ness” out of the blogosphere. Some one noted that it is only the “Ad Lib Network” folks coming to his rescue… so far it is true.

It is utter bullshit that MaryScott repeats over and over again that Kos did nothing wrong… HE DID…THEN HE LIED ABOUT IT.

Kos flipped from Hackett to Brown in less than 24 hours…

What also concerns me about MSOC’s “rebellion” is that she forgets to mention the business plan to which she has been as least partly in the know…. you know the one the proclaims that they are building a vast left wing noise machine et al.. I wanna know who gave her the orders to be a thug in the threads? Tell some truths… enough with the meta.

This is as pathetic as Dems pretending that they did not know that there were no WMD… of course they fucking knew… Clinton as a former president has access to all national security intelligence and he was as much of a war propogandists as the GOP.

So no, I give no credit to MSOC standing up to Kos… because in fact all she is doing is repeating his lies… over and over again.

Kos is a cheat and he was caught now he is lying… endi of story. He is now even getting the local Advertise Liberally blogs to defend his shit..

There was an Armando comment where be came out and bold faced lied and bascially dared anyone to contradict him. I think it was in on of the “come to jeebus” call and response diaries. He said that Jerome backed Brown and Kos back Hackett so how could there be collusion.. If was such a stunning lie that no one dared called him on it

21. NYCO - 9 July 2006

What I’m wondering is when intelligent people are going to realize that Daily Kos is, in the end, Just Another Political Bulletin Board and that it isn’t the real world.

The problem IS the “Community” aspect of it. Let’s face it, the Internet is a great organizing tool, and idea exchange, but it takes a certain type of personality to just treat it that way. I would guess that maybe about 10-20% of people actually have the right personality to communicate and organize effectively (in the REAL world) using the Internet. Unfortunately, the Internet is also available to the other 80% who really, really would be better investing their time in offline organizing and/or socializing. Hence the attention-whoring, the fannishness, the tip-jarring, the “Well I never!”-ness, the hair-splitting, the craving for R-E-S-P-E-C-T…

If you want community, don’t look for it on the Internet. It’s a losing proposition. People who do well using the Internet (in all its forms) as an effective tool are precisely those who DON’T crave “Community,” because the Internet actually makes it easier for you to engage in person-to-person spread of ideas without having to deal with the tiresome social stratification and tired institutional instincts that impede those ideas in meatspace. So… given this amazing, revolutionary tool, what do the other 80% try to do? That’s right — turn it into a Sunday church picnic. Complete with charismatic preacher and his deacons, and the ladies of the auxiliary, of course…

I hate morning talk radio. Could never understand why it’s so all-pervasive, why you can’t turn on the radio and get MUSIC in the morning, on any station. Then I realized my blind spot: I don’t crave community. I like dealing with individual people or individual groups, I like being part of ad hoc coalitions and working on common goals for the mutual good. But I do not crave community, that warm and fuzzy all-enveloping security blanket where you feel wanted and needed and validated and that you have RANK…

So that’s why I could never understand talk radio and its apparently vital importance to American society. Evidently, the majority of Americans break out into a cold sweat each morning as they realize they are ALONE in their beds… (or, their partner is fast asleep next to them). “ALONE!!! What shall I do… without COMMUNITY??” They seem averse to contemplating even a moment’s worth of silence out of touch from the pack. But, thankfully, there’s always morning talk radio they can switch on and “Ahhhhh! Voices! Chatter! Buzz! I belong again…”

Don’t get me wrong. Sometimes circles of friends can be nice and supportive. Friends are worth keeping. But a lot of the craving for community is just knee-jerk and instinctual. “Community” is like religion for some people. Churchgoing becomes more important than God, for example. And sadly, the same thing is what you see at Daily Kos. It’s not a reality-based community; it’s a community-based community. And a piss-poor use of the Internet, if you ask me.

22. Deepest Troat - 9 July 2006

No doubt that feeding to the anti Armando cult is diversionary, which the rest of the time I do ignore. However, after covering a topic for the whole week, this was entertainment.

We talk about what it means being adults, after seeing this, I think children are far more mature than this. I have been around the these internets for a long long time – in fact, before there were ever browsers – I have heard people say that their offline persona and their online persona are different. Not really, given the right conditions offline, what you see online will come out. The point is, these are the folks who are “trying to take over the world” so to speak, a la DNC. That being said, this very very scary because the “netroots” have become what we hated from the other side and their hero worshiping is going to be their downfall.

This is what Kos is trying to achieve, straight from Simon Rosenbergs New Politics Institute – Report – The Emergence of the Progressive Blogosphere = writen none other than Chris Bowers and Matthew Stoller in August 10, 2005.
Conservative Netroots’ Advantages
Local focus. Conservative blogs are more likely to take a local focus than progressive blogs, and to create strong, local blog rings. (Groupthink behavior)

Integration with Republican message machine. Republican blogs are better able to influence stories in the mainstream media due to their near total integration with existing forms of conservative, alternative media and the Republican Noise Machine in general. (Mintistry of Truth)

Inter-blog communities. Conservative blogs have a tendency to link to discussions on other blogs more often than progressive blogs. (the reason for linking whoring)

This could explain the whole victimization meme we are now hearing from Kos, Armstrong and now Armando:

Most right-wing blogs reiterate talking points that are generated from inside formal conservative institutions; conversations center on feeling victimized for being right-wing, attacking and hating progressives, and attacking and hating the media.

Replace “for being right-wing” and put in the Kos line, “because we are gaining influence.”

Yes, they are becoming what they hated. Ban those who migrate off the range just for a breath of fresh air.

23. JJB - 9 July 2006

NYCee:

What El Caudillo was doing was reminding MSOC of her place in the food chain, like Louis B. Mayer threatening some star who balks at playing the assigned role in the forthcoming big budget epic: “I made you, I can break you!!!” If the star still didn’t buckle under, a salacious item about him/her would appear the next day under the byline of either Hedda Hopper or Louella Parsons, straight from the studio’s private detective file to the media noise machine. Expect MSOC to issue a grovelling apology very soon, and for Armando to appear immediately in the comment thread with a flowery tribute to her brilliance and their beautiful friendship, not unlike a physically abusive spouse coming home with flowers to make up for the assorted bruises he doled out the night before.

What I find saddest about what the site has become is to see so many people knuckle under to this creep anytime they actually show the nerve to stand up to him and criticize him for his disgusting behavior. I suppose they have so little going on in their lives that their IDs as Big Time Koskateers is all they have to feel good about. Really sad.

On a related note, in the very near future I think it will become accepted wisdom that VivaKosVegas was a very bad idea that should never have happened. It was a act of hubris in that it invited scrutiny that they weren’t prepared for. It seems remarkable that they didn’t anticipate this and take steps to prepare for it, but then most of them are rather unsophisticated people and unlike, for instance, Bill O’Reilly and Rush Limbaugh, they don’t have huge corporate entities to wrap them in a protective bubble and run their lives for them.

24. marisacat - 9 July 2006

observer has linked to a Nonpartisan diary… in Orange Crush.

The thread is interesting on severl levels. One thing I have suspected for a while is the hand of ffpers (former front pagers)… ones that are not being exposed in the several weeks long siege that Boyos and Minions are finding themselves under.

And yes I see a lot of Kabuki dance in the Mso diary and in much that is going on now.

LOL Good Luck to all comers. Such a small bit of power and they went wild with it. Like starving people.

25. NYCO - 9 July 2006

Conservative blogs are more likely to take a local focus than progressive blogs, and to create strong, local blog rings.

That’s what my local blogosphere does… but it ranges from anarchist left to center-left and even center-right. However, the one unifying theme in my local blogosphere — if there is one — has to do with economics and regional identity, not election politics.

What strikes me about so many other blogospheres is that so often they are writing about nothing. They are neither engaging in intellectual discussion or hashing out social/economic/historical theories (the wide view), nor are they talking about organizing real-world, on-the-ground campaigns about anything (the narrow view). They are writing mainly about elections and fundraising and polls.

If anything, I would have to say that the Big Box Blogs are deeply anti-intellectual AND anti-organizing in nature. They are completely within the status quo. Maybe the people running them think that what they’re doing is incredibly radical, but for those of us outside that box (and I wasn’t outside that box in, say, 2001), it’s just not enough.
