San Gregorio State Beach, along Highway 1
I went hunting to see what I could find on this issue that I keep hearing, like mosquitos in the night, about first one beach, then the next, but not catching hold of what is going on…
This story is about San Onofre Beach in Orange Co… the description sounds not unlike San Gregorio above, south of SF… sheltered by cliffs and not a big beach… and traditionally clothing optional. Mixed sexes, mixed sexual orientation – and a full mix of what people wear, or don’t wear…
Stearns said some rangers who work at the beach have complained recently about being exposed to a “sexually charged” environment. The state needs to be mindful or may face lawsuits, he said.
Sexually charged atmosphere? All I can say to the Park Service staff is:

I found it interesting … NBC evening news did a longish segment on the 100 small video cameras given to the Palestinians… nd they ran the segment the night ob ws in Israel.
And NBC showed two incidents (might have been three) very partial to the Pals. One was goat herders, moving their flock from one part of their land to another (and one of the sons carrying one f the vid cameras), only to find a SINGLE settler tent on the land and to be told by mil their land was not theirs anymore.
Interesting. Pretty rare for a segment so accurate.

Was just reminded of something I noticed while watching a short bit of McCain on TV this AM. He was at some campaign rally or other, one with a Town Hall Meeting setup, with the studio arranged In-The-Round. He was addressing the crowd, and at one point turned his back completely to the main camera, and stayed that way for something like 10-15 seconds, offering a splendid view of his less than svelte body from the worst possible angle, and with the very large bald spot on the crown of his head glinting in the studio lights. This man’s been running for President for the better part of the last ten years, and he apparently can’t even remember to hit his marks.
From what I’ve seen, Prince Chunk has a better sense of how to play to the camera than McCain does.

I have something re MSM I/P and OB coverage, too. Also surprising, given the norm. May post it as a diary, but my god, the ObamaLuv is in such foamy explosive defense mode (all hands on deck, enemy fire, racist Britney ad!, etc) that it really has no chance of ringing the tiniest of awakening bells or not attracting the mudslide of denial and accusation. Cant compete with 5-Alarm call to the pack, the herd, the school … of fish. So why bother.
Obama got challenged by black group at a town hall, for not addressing black community concerns (Katrina, Jena, etc). Held up banner saying so, crowd got loud and raucus (Obama Clones stood up to counter, chanting Yes We Can!!!) Obama quelled the noise and said theyd have a chance to speak, ask their question later: This is democracy, folks! I have to go forward on tivo to see that Q&A, how it turned out, as I had rewound.
Well, yes. And if he deigns to have a freewheeling town hall debate with McCain, that will be more democracy. It’s messier, harder to control these things. I cant imagine he’s looking forward to what’s on the menu in days to come. He cant do more overseas jaunts or big rallies. The small scene is really not his favorite venue.

It occurred to me later that I should have mentioned in my post, an interesting recent experience with tooth pain. When the pain got really bad and the orajel stopped working, I took Tylenol, when the pain still didn’t subside, I took vicodine that I had never used from a prior prescription. The pain still didn’t subside, so the next day, remembering that a doctor had told me to take Ibuprofin for a hematoma from some stitches, I took that and it worked. I suspect that the Tylenol and its stronger acetaminophen relative, Vicodin, didn’t work because they don’t do much for inflamation… not sure why that’s not prominently noted on the Ibuprofen bottle, but in that instance it worked far better than the Vicodine. Now I feel like an ass for not having noted that, but it it just slipped my mind.

Fortunately Nor-Cal waste indicates they don’t want to do it. But I suspect they would if they get a big raise in fees they can charge.

Re mandatory recycling in SF:
Syracuse, N.Y. has a recycling rate comparable to San Francisco’s (ie, around 70%) but there has never been any talk of “trash police” just in the interest of squeezing out another 15% of success. The state agency in charge of recycling for our area has worked too long at gaining community acceptance and good will. Sounds like SF is on the verge of blowing theirs?

what is your problem? bay was making a simple point…. that dandilions are weeds that grow and spread often despite the best efforts of the chem lawn people.
as for the poor oppressed apartment dwellers who can’t hang their clothes out or grow a weed, well, maybe if those things are important to them, they should live somewhere else.

if she has cultivated them in her yard, then yes they are hers to harvest. if they are growing wild and uncultivated in her backyard, they are still hers.
