Yeah really… looking ahead, what else can you say.  And I don’t mean the bone dry, desert dry, absolutely wrung dry story of “coming Democratic losses”.

Loose files, sinking ships and whatever else. Letters gone astray.

2. marisacat - 28 October 2010

And then there is Lipless:

— Five days before the midterms, Gibbs claimed that enthusiasm among Democratic voters “has increased.” He added, “This overall notion of huge disappointment among Democratic voters is — it is not matched in any of the empirical data that you guys produce and that we see.”

3. BooHooHooMan - 28 October 2010

As this election draws near, I find I am reconsidering my position given the core question that remains unanswered, which, given the stakes… is obviously this:

Would YOU buy aluminum siding from this man?

In order to take back a majority of seats in the House of Representatives, the party out of power needs to win the national popular vote by around 2.5%.

With that in mind, here’s how the generic congressional ballot polls looked…

::

The bottom line is that Democrats can still win, according to the totality of available evidence. Further, today is the last day when you can give to campaigns, and which they can deposit the money in time to spend it before Election Day.

So this is really it. Contribute to Orange to Blue candidates today.

And really, how firggin’ sweet would it be to win after all the tea party crap we have put up with over the last two years?

LOL. What a fuckin shyster.

marisacat - 28 October 2010

A ringing cry! They can Still Win! Yes they might!

4. BooHooHooMan - 28 October 2010

Michael, Michael, Michael…

What say you? Stay home and punish the weak-kneed, sell-out Democrats?

Why, YES! No, MM?

Or spend every free moment you have between now and Tuesday trying to protect what little progress has been made so we can live to fight another day (even if
it is with “allies” like a Democratic Party that will more than likely still not get the message of what they need to do — and has, in fact, spent much of the past two years giving progressives the boot)? Perhaps our job, post-election,

is to provide a gentle
but swift boot in the bee-hind of the party whose mascot is an ass.

Right now, we’ve got 112 hours. Seems like enough……

marisacat - 28 October 2010

Is that Michael Moore? He needs to go sit with Nader. And a few others.

BooHooHooMan - 28 October 2010

Yep, Michael Moore. The guy who makes those movies around the theme of commiseration.

marisacat - 28 October 2010

How quick movies become………….. mooooo mooo moovies.

BooHooHooMan - 28 October 2010

To me he really really really neutered his Capitalism: A Love Story with the laughable claim that Wall Street hustled TARP through because they were fearful of Ob as the new sherrif coming to town.

The stuff of spaghetti westerns.
He’s a Party guy and will die as such. Shame.
Mostly dumb: WTF he’s talking about as “consolidating” “gains” …I haven’t the foggiest.

Pisses me off. Howard, Dennis, etc.
All that Lockheed Martin geese jerky.
A very light spread as it turned out.

marisacat - 28 October 2010

oh he fell in wuv with wObbly. Plus.. let’s get real, there is a lot to MM that is old time, Catholic, beefy union guy.

The only innoculation for that disease (wObbly luv) is a lotta pain inflicted on a lot of people.

BooHooHooMan - 28 October 2010

hey hey hey whoa hey

5. BooHooHooMan - 28 October 2010

They’re trying to get Meek to drop out for Charlie.
LOL.

marisacat - 28 October 2010

I see Meek not dropping out. I feel pretty sure he feels he is chosen by God. Or some industry he has taken money from.

BooHooHooMan - 28 October 2010

Bill C is pushing Kendrick to turn tail.
An obvious move, but Jesus, just release a statement, Bill.

Oh I dunno, like,

Pretty much fuck you Party niggers in Florida.
We want Chuck to be Leader.

Sorry to be blunt but that’s about it.

They’re now leaking that Meek said no. Meek.
said no.
We’ll see how long this lasts.

marisacat - 28 October 2010

How long til Meek cries, Momma!

catnip - 28 October 2010

Meek just had a Breaking! press conference and said the Politico story was “inaccurate, at best”. He’s not dropping out and he Bubba are friends.

catnip - 28 October 2010

Of course, that depends on what your definition of “friends” is.

marisacat - 28 October 2010

They can “Frenemy” each other on Facebook!!

BooHooHooMan - 28 October 2010

I’m thinking it might also be a stunt, too.
Not so much to draw attention to his dead campaign, but leaking this tid to depress a few percent of his vote just the same. NTIM. Seems to me Crist doesn’t have the support his humpers would have us believe. Just my .02.
::

FWIW (not much) Man Titz is on with Larry O’Donnell and it looks like its dawning on him that he’s screwed. Really weak and desperate if you can imagine any more sad sackery with Harry.
Also FWIW Nate Silver now rates Angle over Reid as a 75% bet…

Fuck em all. I’m a popcorn muncher these days.

marisacat - 28 October 2010

Man Titz is on with Larry O’Donnell and it looks like its dawning on him that he’s screwed. Really weak and desperate if you can imagine any more sad sackery with Harry.

And he so easily gets confused…

Madman in the Marketplace - 28 October 2010

I’ll be glad when that fucker is gone.

marisacat - 28 October 2010

I see Crist is telling TIME he spoke “numerous times” with ”42 insiders”. Forty Two.

They are all going off the rails.

BooHooHooMan - 28 October 2010

By my count ( Call Nate!) that’s at least one Protestant and 2 Insiders better than Ali Babba and the 40 Thieves. Right?
What this means – I don’t know.

marisacat - 28 October 2010

People mag had a piece up, this at the end………………

Clinton campaigned with Meek in Florida on Oct. 19 and 20, and thought he had won Meek over. But as the week wore on, Meek lost his enthusiasm for the arrangement, spurred in part, a third Democratic source said, by his wife’s belief that he could still win the race. Clinton spoke with Meek again at week’s end, three Democrats said, and again Meek said he would drop out.

And linking thru to the NYT-

CHUCK READY TO BECOME LEADER IF HARRY FALLS…

Matt’s certainly a happy helper.

marisacat - 28 October 2010

Hand them more knives.

hey:

More and better BACK STABBING.

BooHooHooMan - 28 October 2010

What a hoot… that NYT lede Drudge links to –

“Schumer Subtly Maneuvers for Top Senate Post.”
 “Subtly”. Seriously. Uh-huh.

Yeh like Chuck’s pledge that Harry would have the DSCC at his disposal. Plenty of Cash.
The top ops in the country. Spare no expense.
A real tear jerker when I heard it.
Kinda like “Saving Private Ryan” meets the Donner Party. Right there in present day Nevada. So Harry would return as Leader. Too Funny.

BooHooHooMan - 28 October 2010

Fuckin Chuck’s Press Ops aren’t even waitin for the deed to go down. More knives is right. I mean as a matter of decency. Fuck, Schumers people are already dissecting Harry with a fuckin spoon.

BooHooHooMan - 28 October 2010

I’m fuckin out. LOL. ‘night all.

BooHooHooMan - 28 October 2010

I can’t pass this up.
From the Cain and Abel story to Rattner to the plug for Netflix. Who the fuck are Hernandez and Steinhauer at the Times?

The relationship between the two was on display at a recent fund-raiser that Mr. Schumer organized on Mr. Reid’s behalf in Brooklyn. Introducing Mr. Reid to a group of wealthy New York City donors, including the developer Bruce C. Ratner, Mr. Schumer said Mr. Reid “is like a brother to me,”   according to a person in attendance. (Recently, Mr. Reid bought Mr. Schumer a Netflix subscription.)

A longtime admirer of Mr. Schumer’s political instincts, Mr. Reid persuaded Mr. Schumer to take charge of the Democratic campaign committee after the disastrous results of the 2004 elections for Senate Democrats.

Gawd, what shillage. Okay. All done.

marisacat - 28 October 2010

Harry = dead chicken in an Everlast outfit.

marisacat - 28 October 2010

I think they killed him and stuffed him in a locker at the Port Authority building.

Obama: More Aggressive Anti-Foreclosure Efforts Would Help People Who Don’t Deserve It

Asked if his administration had done enough to stem the foreclosure crisis, Obama opted not to address the foreclosure fraud scandal that has forced banks to temporarily halt home repossessions across the country. Instead, he claimed that the government’s efforts had stabilized the housing market, and argued that the “biggest challenge” was to make sure speculators and deadbeats didn’t take advantage of the government’s help.

“The biggest challenge is how do you make sure that you are helping those who really deserve help and if they get some temporary help can get back on their feet, make their payments and move forward and stay in their home versus either people who are speculators, own second homes that they really couldn’t afford because they’d gotten a subprime loan, and people who through no fault of their own just can’t afford their house anymore because of the change in housing values or their incomes don’t support it,” Obama said during a roundtable discussion with a handful of progressive bloggers at the White House.

“And we’re always trying to find that sweet spot to use as much of the money that we have available to us to help those who can be helped, without wasting that money on folks who don’t deserve help,” he continued. “And that’s a tough balance to strike.”

Choke on THAT fucking hope and change.

marisacat - 28 October 2010

hugh, over at corrente, picked apart how BAD the questions were. And of course the lame-o answers.

brinn - 29 October 2010

Really?! That’s the biggest challenge? Fucking Really!?!? Well, the asswipe, hire me, I’ve been collecting unemployment for over a year while working part-time jobs and trying to keep my kids fed — yeah, me, with my meager BA in Econ, I can help you overcome that big “challenge” in a HEARTBEAT!! IT ain’t that difficult.

Oh, and HERE’S an idea: before you start worrying about accidentally giving a few deadbeats and speculators a coupla hundred thousand here and there, why don’t we first take care of the motherfuckers who have been helped who REALLY don’t deserve it, to the tune a trillion or two, eh?

Goddes what a slimy piece of shit he is!!

Madman in the Marketplace - 29 October 2010

he inspires more disgust and loathing with nearly every month that goes by.

marisacat - 29 October 2010

Long years ahead. I AM wondering when London bookies start making odds on 2012.

I go back and forth.

marisacat - 28 October 2010

I think San Francisco is happily unraveling…. a couple of weeks ago they basically decriminalised personal use quantities of MJ…. there was a segment on the news tonight that up in Yuba Co, some uptight retiree is all whupset over a small grow “plantation” next door (he really ddi say he needs to protect his children!)… an official for the county said, sorry, we are just stretched too thin and small no problem plantings we cannot worry about.

AND our “new” intown ball park abuts a small man made cove… people usually float there in small boats, kayaks what have you during games.. and apparently tonight the air was perfumed with MJ.
 I’d be faintng or passed out (the odor has always jsut felled me), but WHOOPEE.

Let it rip.

catnip - 29 October 2010

Is this their October surprise? They need new material.

marisacat - 29 October 2010

I am wondering if ti is in retaliation for expressions, started off by a speech from the head of BA, that various European commerical air entities, airlines, airports are sick to death of whta we demand of “security” for flights coming here. Screeenings and shoes and separate examination of laptops, a whole list.

AND THEN… the Israelis agreed with the Europeans.

So I would guess we are in a snit. Snit of a fit.

catnip - 29 October 2010

So, according to CNN, the story is that one person sent suspicious packages from Yemen with things made to look like IEDs but containing no explosives but IF they had explosives they would have been “viable”. Oy.

So, the point of this is…?

Bomb bomb bomb Yemen would be my guess.

marisacat - 29 October 2010

Meanwhile we …………. “quarantined” Newark.

Which sounds redundant for an EPA pit.

catnip - 29 October 2010

Let’s hope they haven’t quarantined BHHM! Free BHHM!

Okay. This is overkill:

“Fighter jets to escort UAE flight from Yemen into JFK”

catnip - 29 October 2010

Are you guys at threat level Elmo yet?

catnip - 29 October 2010

And how stupid does this suspected Yemen sender have to be to include his name and address on these packages? Hello? Does that pass the smell test?

Meanwhile, Shooter may be Marine, FBI says

Authorities said Friday that they think the shooter who has fired on three government buildings in the Washington area in recent days — and may have shot, for a second time, at the National Museum of the Marine Corps overnight — might be a U.S. Marine with a grievance against the Corps.

The shooter was urged to contact authorities during a Friday news conference at FBI offices downtown. “We’d like to know what his grievance is and how we can try to resolve it,” said John Perren, acting assistant director for the FBI’s Washington field office. “We’d like to hear his side of the story.”

Sure. Right after they ship him off to Gitmo. Nice to know the FBI is in the psychotherapy business too.

marisacat - 29 October 2010

might be a U.S. Marine with a grievance against the Corps.

I assumed it was military… either ex or still serving. As the phrasing goes. Still shooting, let’s say…

marisacat - 29 October 2010

Let’s speed this up and simply put all Yemenis, those there, those here, on lockdown.

Get it over with.. You know we want to…………..

marisacat - 29 October 2010

And send US MArshalls (I assume) to protect synagogues in … where else? CHICAGO… now that we say the temples were the intended recipient of the packages.

Or whatever they were.

catnip - 29 October 2010

I see Obamalama is going to have a presser now. Be afraid, be very afraid. And Send Money Now! to the Dems. Don’t forget to vote!

marisacat - 29 October 2010

Rush had a line that made me laugh today… he was recounting the details of the Obby’s India trip. 500 + rooms in one hotel (the Taj Mahal Hotel) … 100+ rooms in an auxiliary hotel… more than 40 planes, 4 altogether the size of AF 1… etc

And Rush said, “Here is the question… ARE THEY COMING BACK?”

I will go anywhere for a laugh.

marisacat - 29 October 2010

I think we can rely on wObbly giving away what little is left in the store.

13. catnip - 29 October 2010

Can I just say that these so-called “intelligence experts” on CNN and MSNBC are fucking clueless? Every one I’ve seen is saying that they don’t get why these packages were sent the way they were ie. so obvious, from Yemen, is it a dry run? etc.

Hello? The idea of “terrorism” is to scare people. Mission accomplished.

marisacat - 29 October 2010

We were all in a dither today over an apparently abandoned “piece of luggage”. Buses were re routed, office towers told to “shelter in place”… streets closed…. ………….. and it was lost luggage with some clothing inside.

But! We are safe!

Meanwhile a few blocks away, at the City Hall area, there was a scheduled terror alert drill.

Maybe we can jsut call the mistaken identity issues of ”lost luggage” The Drill? And save money?

catnip - 29 October 2010

Thank Dog it wasn’t Terror Kitties!

marisacat - 29 October 2010

More terror in their tiny claws and sharp baby teeth than an incoming UPS plane!

Schmidt Under Fire For Discussing Abortion With Kids

CINCINNATI — Parents of Cincinnati elementary school students are upset over remarks made by U.S. Rep. Jean Schmidt. She reportedly brought up the abortion issue in front of children as young as 6.

The Catholic school asked not to be identified because it doesn’t want to be drawn into political controversy. The school’s principal told WLWT that the congresswoman was invited to be a guest speaker at an assembly in which students from first through eighth grade were present, and that most of Schmidt’s remarks were not political.

The school’s principal sent a letter home to parents on that same day informing them that the topic of abortion came up during Schmidt’s appearance. An excerpt of the letter read:

“Unexpectedly, towards the end of her address, Congresswoman Schmidt brought up the topic of abortion, and I am writing you to make you aware of this. Your children may come home with questions, especially if this is a topic that has not been broached in your home. I do not recall the exact words she used, but she paused towards the end of her speech and stated that this would be the only time when she would be ‘political’ in her address. She defined abortion as the taking of a child’s life in the mother’s womb. She indicated that abortion involves the killing of a child before it is born. She was not graphic or any more detailed in this regard. Later, when a child asked about it, she indicated that an abortion is something that a doctor does when a mother requests this. It was not a particularly long segment of her address (1½ minutes or so), and these words may not match the exact words she used, but this description does, I believe, express what your child heard. Her point was to address the increase of governmental activity in the abortion issue and her political resolve to fight against this.”

The principal said that while Schmidt’s views “are consistent with how the Catholic Church views abortion,” the topic is not something the school presents to elementary students. His letter also noted that, “In general, Congresswoman Schmidt’s presentation was lively, interesting, and engaging for the students.”

They seem very emboldened…. a third party group is running a pro life commercial on behalf of Carly. I personally think that despite all the hoopla and bullshit… and the fact that Boxer has always been a lousy deer in the headlights campaigner (and mostly spared having to bother) that this race was never close… and a good part of it was to run a hard core anti abortion candidate, and see how well it does.

It being Carly.

diane - 29 October 2010

is your meaning something comparable to the 2008 test drive for another “it,” Palin?

…. that would make sense to me, especially after seeing that commercial we were discussing a few threads back.

(Who could blame someone for not wanting to bring a child into this cesspool? …for what? to be tased, or droned? …to live under a bridge if their integrity prevented them from “earning” a paycheck that covered the BILLS?)

marisacat - 30 October 2010

Apparently lots of people, people not for Carly, think that is a very good political commercial. Doesn’t work for me… but…
