Sodden bitches, both of them.  (I saw it! I said it!)

Considering that genitalia is so much the subject at the moment, I somehow missed the appearance where whatshisname, the Louisiana snake (Carville?), apparently said that if you took one gonad from Ob, Hillary would still have more.

Poor Ob.  Very special and very public pat downs for him….

Snicker.

***

And I wonder just who this might be?

Officials at TSA said this morning that they continue to issue guidance to shift leaders about the types of pat-downs that are appropriate for children 12 and under, as well as for passengers who have religious or cultural objections to direct physical contact.

National Journal

Oh brother, I noticed all three net work morning shows led with Royal Wedding, Bombs over Korea and then, maybe, pat down fou fou.

ABC advised women not to wear ”pencil” or slim cut skirts as the TSA can’t get to “where they need to” and you will be pulled aside and RE DRESSED, either in a shift of some sort or a

TOWEL.  For security reasons of course.  A little SAVAK in your coffee madam?

So… “if you want to maintain your dignity”, wear pants.

Talk about sexual dominance games.

I read that the administration is lining up 9/11 family memebers to push the party line on pat downs (touch me! feel me! I am all good with it)…

… and here is why:

“I believe this is a tipping point,” said Debra Burlingame, a vocal advocate for tough anti-terrorism policies. Burlingame – whose brother was the pilot of the hijacked American Airlines Flight 77 which crashed into the Pentagon on 9/11 – was outraged after undergoing the new TSA pat-downs.

“I was not prepared for it…I’ve been patted down a lot of times but never like this,” recalled Burlingame. “I had to tell myself not to cry…..It’s about having a keen sense of your human dignity being violated.”

The new measures are prompted in part by a terrorist incident last Christmas, in which a Nigerian man allegedly tried to destroy a US-bound jetliner by detonating explosives sewn into his underwear. Burlingame said the high-tech body-scans and thorough frisking – which some have compared to sexual molestation – are more intrusive than effective, particularly in the hands of TSA agents with little expertise in detecting well-hidden contraband.

“They don’t know whether they’re feeling [the powerful explosive] PETN or a Kotex pad, frankly,” she said. “They can’t prove that this gets results.”

Because a big conservative, pro just about anyhing, member of the 9/11 family tribe (and close with a couple of Neo Cons and whoever else) got away from them.

brinn - 23 November 2010

I saw a ad for an Obama ChiaPet last night — I may have to buy a couple just so I can smash the shit out them….

I am so disgusted by this — I wonder what will happen to Debra from here on out…

My mom is traveling tomorrow by plane (visiting friends in CA) — I’m hoping she’ll be ok. This thanksgiving, I am just thankful that my boys are traveling in the car with their dad. I think I would kill someone assaulting my child right in front of me.

I think that they may grow up never having been on a plane, which is a sad thing — I used to love to fly…soon, they will make it prohibitively expensive to drive anywhere as well…

Well, aren’t I just in a cheery fucking mood today?!
*sigh*

brinn - 23 November 2010

…and while I do have empathy for the indignities perpetrated by the TSA in the name of “safety”, a large part of me just looks at all of this and says “well, what the hell did you expect, AmPeep? You said torture was ok, you shrugged at the picture from Abu Graib, you have bleated constantly about “getting tough on ____[insert over-hyped risk-of-the-day here]”, you have ceded nearly every one of your rights in the name of some ephemeral security or another (whether it be economic, class protective, environmental or physical) to idiots in overlord robes who are just waiting for the next new way to beat you down and exploit your very human-ness….

What the fuck did you expect?!

marisacat - 23 November 2010

I agree….

Madman in the Marketplace - 23 November 2010

exactly right

2. brinn - 23 November 2010

“Cultural Objections”???

I’ve got your cultural objection right here you fascist fucks!

marisacat - 23 November 2010

I want some answers on Sikh turbans. To be very blunt.

brinn - 23 November 2010

What are the questions? 😉

marisacat - 23 November 2010

unwrap it. If women will be TOLD to disrobe and wear a shift or a TOWEL for full grope then all bets, all kindnesses to religious idiocy are off. In my book.

Basically I am opposed to all this tolerance for religious garb, frankly. We have no secular public space left. At all. None….

Sarko (and others) is a nut banning the burka (stupid bad move), but I certainly supported the move there back in the 90s for no crosses, no yarmulkes, Stars of David, Pashtun (right group?) sabres or Sikh head garb etc in the SCHOOLS. None of it… a secular space.

The last insult in the hospital was the ecumenical spiritual drop in. Some grandmother rabbi want to be. Yarmulka and all… I think her opening gambit after I told her your corner is not my corner, was did I consdier myself a good person.

I said, I am good to children adn creatures and for the rest, I have resisted commiting murder.

This whole religious and cultural hiccup is an extension of pandering to religion, to exceptionalising religion.

And to the conscience clause laws.

I am sick to fucking death of it.

brinn - 23 November 2010

Right on, lady! RIGHT THE FUCK ON!

I absolutely agree 5013%!

Give me that secular space — I may teach my kids that phrase: “Whoa, back off, I need my secular space!”

They are constantly getting grilled about their non-belief in all all-knowing bearded guy in the sky who is going to send them to hell for not reciting the pledge …. shit, it took my 7 year old about 5 second to discern the complete contradiction in saying that the US was one country indivisible and then 10 seconds later having to say a pledge tot he freaking Texas flag which includes the word God again (him: aren’t we all under the sky?!) and the word indivisible….

Sick to fucking death doesn’t even begin to cover it!

Any spiritual “drop in” while I was in the hospital would’ve been followed up by a written complaint for harassment. When I objected to a social worker plying her obnoxious trade after the birth of my second son (and I mean about 10 hours after), my verbal complaints got me a visit from the Texas CPS when my son was 9 days old….we live in a not-dying-quickly-enough soul sucking society!

heh. My mood does not seem to have improved any!

love to you, MCat!

brinn - 23 November 2010

Wasn’t he arrested for his troubles? We are so fucking neurotic about all things body in this country — except, unless it is allowing the TSA to sexually assault us….illegal to be naked and doing nothing to no one, but govt. agents can stick their hands in your pants….

Can we get more fucked? Yeah, I know, I should know better than to ask that question….

It was a mess but the best part was a sweet elderly Chinese phlebotomist who gave me tips for helping all the bruises to heal (unfortunately there are a lot and they are bad)… and a tip for collapsing the vein after a draw (hold the cotton ball on the puncture and lift your arm up, seals the entry and collaspes the vein).

Just so gald to be home and triple lock the door…

Me state secrets, you state secrets. Me executive privilege, you executive privilege. Me stop the release of torture videos, you backed me up. Me indefinite detention, you indefinite detention. Me extraordinary rendition; you extraordinary rendition. Me sending drones, you sending tons more, flying 24/7. Me just had to look the other way on collateral damage, you doing the same and protecting our boys doing it. Me approving night time assassination raids, you’re upping the ante especially since General Petraeus took over. Me beefing up Defense, you not skipping a beat. Me letting the CIA loose, you told them operate at large. Me demanding no pictures of our fallen troops, you doing the same, but allowing the families to go to Dover which I should have done.

Couple of things from Laura Rozen http://www.politico.com/blogs/laurarozen/ :

Poll: 48% of Americans will seek alternatives to flying

Amid a mounting public backlash against intrusive new TSA screening measures, a new poll by Zogby International that shows that 48 percent of Americans might seek alternative forms of transportation should cause concern for the Obama administration, the TSA and the already hard-hit airline industry.

Among the poll’s findings, over half of those polled believe the new measures will not prevent terrorist activity, and a third — 32 percent — say they amount to sexual harassment: ….

****

and from another post:

[T]he ACLU said they have received well over 600 complaints since TSA instituted the aggressive new screening and pat-down procedures on Oct. 28, and is considering whether to file a lawsuit.

“Complaints have just shot up since TSA changed to the more aggressive patdowns,” the ACLU’s Laura Murphy told POLITICO Tuesday.

Among the complaints they have received, Murphy said: “People feel like they are being touched in a sexually inappropriate fashion; they are citing lack of privacy, when their pants are being opened and TSA officers stick their fingers between the waistband and the skin. People who are victims of sexual abuse are complaining. … People are feeling like they don’t want the risk from radiation and some have vulnerable immune systems.” ….

Ah, The Holidays, a time for…
OR How Fucked Are Ya When This IS From TPM?

Former Obama Advisor, Aide To NJ Dem, Arrested On Child Sex Charges

Robert Decheine, chief of staff to Rep. Steve Rothman (D-NJ), was arrested in Gaithersburg, Md. last Friday on charges of soliciting sex from a minor. Decheine, who had been with the Democrat’s office since 2003, was fired immediately after the congressman consulted the House Counsel about his arrest, Rothman spokesman Aaron Keyak told The Hill in a statement.

Decheine was arrested as part of a sting targeting people interested in sex with minors — the first one ever launched by the Gaithersburg Police Department, according to a press release provided to TPM. Eleven arrests were made during the operation, which came in phases. First, ads were placed online and an undercover officer began communicating with each “John.”

During the course of those conversations via phone or text messaging, an exchange of services or expectations was made, said the Gaithersburg Police Department. The final phase was the apprehension, interviewing and charging of the “John.”

AND Not to be outdone…

marisacat - 24 November 2010

Man of the cloth. But not good to children I see.

BooHooHooMan - 24 November 2010

The thing that bothers me is the whole inefficiency of it all.

I mean , with a little redistricting after 2010, shouldn’t every American be entitled to live in a district where you can seek political relief by reporting your average hitman hiring pedophile priest to your Congressional Office run by folks who you can trust to be MERELY pedophilic?
At least on the constituency services side.
You know.
Their day in day out hiring of hitmen aside..

marisacat - 24 November 2010

yes the hitman hire is a new level. I am very concerned, even as a non parent! Obviously the political parties are losing their touch with keeping the religious constituencies to a bare, and thus “acceptable”, minimum in their proclivities.

We need ReForm! Now! We’ve proven we can live with clerical pedophiles. But we must stop this hiring of hitmen!

ReForm NOW! Sign the petition!! Let your voice be heard! Vote, send money NOW!

marisacat - 24 November 2010

HA!

“Congressman Rothman considers this alleged criminal act to be shocking, appalling and indefensible,” Keyak said in a statement. He added that their office is cooperating with investigators, and that Marc Cevasco was the new acting chief of staff.

Decheine was a senior advisor to the Obama campaign in 2008, according to PolitickerNJ. He previously served as chief of staff to Rep. Bill Luther (D-MN).

You can smell the fear coming off the Dems.

BooHooHooMan - 24 November 2010

“Congressman Rothman considers this alleged criminal act to be shocking, appalling and indefensible,”

Yeh, row that boat ashore.

Which makes him less powerful than a fart off a Ken doll.

Busy boys in DC. Yeah right, I was supposed to vote for a Black Born Again and get all whupset over Palin’s conservative whacky whatever.

Suuuuure.

I am so fucking sick of this government. Not a very elegant observation but utterly suitable.

As I recall the judge in the case had some tart comments for a system that would fire Major Witt, more than the single passing observation from the bench the article includes.

U.S. Appeals Air Force ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’ Ruling

November 23, 2010, 8:07 PM EST

(Updates with new trial in third paragraph.)

Nov. 23 (Bloomberg) — The U.S. appealed a court ruling that the dismissal of an Air Force major on grounds she violated the military’s “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy on homosexuality infringed her constitutional due-process rights.

Margaret Witt sued to keep her job after being fired over claims she violated the policy barring gays and lesbians from serving openly in the military. Witt was a decorated major in the Air Force and was less than one year short of 20 years of service and a full pension when she learned she was being fired for her involvement in a six-year relationship with a woman in Spokane, Washington.

A San Francisco-based appeals court in 2008 ordered the case to be reargued because Witt’s due process claims against the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy couldn’t be scrutinized without more factual information in the court record. In September, after a new trial, U.S. District Judge Ronald B. Leighton in Tacoma, Washington, ruled in Witt’s favor.

“The application of ‘Don’t Ask Don’t Tell’ to Major Margaret Witt does not significantly further the government’s interest in promoting military readiness, unit morale and cohesion,” Leighton wrote in the ruling. Her discharge from the Air Force reserves violated her due process rights, he wrote, adding that she should be restored to her position as a flight nurse “as soon as is practicable.”

Supreme Court

The U.S. Supreme Court this month permitted the Pentagon to continue barring openly gay people from military service when it refused to reinstate a judge’s order that temporarily suspended the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” law. The justices left intact a decision from the same appeals court in a different case that let the law stay in effect during a lawsuit seeking to invalidate it.

Efforts to overturn the policy have been repeatedly thwarted. Although the U.S. House in May approved lifting the ban, Senate Democrats haven’t mustered enough support to bring repeal legislation to a vote. Opponents of the ban are now trying to include a repeal as part of a defense bill in the Senate.

The case is Witt v. Department of the Air Force, 06-5195, U.S. District Court, Western District of Washington (Tacoma).

18. marisacat - 24 November 2010

New game: “Unearned Entitlements”.

😆 I think under this formulation, I, Marisacat, who worked my entire life from 17 and in fact had a job as early as legally possible with parental signature, think it was 14.5 years old, is a welfare queen.

Or a Welfare Thin Cat, is perhaps more accurate.

In contrast, I would say the likes of Rubin, Summers, Geithner and ObRama are UNEARNED SKIN FILLER.

[M]edicare is a mixed bag. Medicare is funded — prior to Obamacare — mostly by taxes imposed on the beneficiaries during their working lives and insurance premiums after retirement. So far so good. But a careful analysis of the program reveals that the actuarial value of the insurance benefits actually provided by Medicare is far more than the aggregate premiums and taxes actually paid by the beneficiaries over their lifetimes. Thus Medicare — to a significant degree — is also an “unearned entitlement” or welfare program.

That is, it requires contributions from taxpayers other than beneficiaries, to pay for the benefits promised to beneficiaries.

Only when we can agree and accept that a large portion of Medicare is a welfare program — because it is not fully paid for, in the aggregate, out of the taxes and premiums incurred by its beneficiaries — can we hope to address the deficit problems this and other health care programs create. That does not mean that Medicare (and Medicaid) should not be continued. But it does mean that the costs of these programs should not be treated as if the beneficiaries, in the aggregate, had actually paid anything close to the real cost of the benefits currently promised to them. To the contrary, unlike social security benefits, a significant portion of current Medicare benefits are truly “unearned” — in both the technical and colloquial meanings of that word.

What about this, the government had my money (payrolll deductions) for between 40 years… and the last date I worked, May 2000.

👿 🙄 I will say one thing of my recent incarceration…. I found out today at the hospital that my discharge (ie., follow-up care assignments and so forth) was totally fucked up, at the hospital end…… HOWEVER early this am I got a call from a Legal Services company contracted to Pacific Medical Center, already chasing their money.

I told them I was a nearly dead turnip.

marisacat - 24 November 2010

Entitled? Much?

One reason I say, “lurid” and “corrupt” (Josh’s description of ‘how dare Huckabee call’ for the Ob wimmens to be subjected to regular citizen flying treatment) is nothing new for pols, pretzels and pretzel families.

19. marisacat - 24 November 2010

Josh Marshall is in a hot lather.

I say send the girls off to winter camp in Israel. They’ll be safe. US Jews in the settler community can be made special deputies of the SS and guard the precious girls with big big big guns… Obby loves to talk about how he would never want his girls in Sderot under the almost non-existant Pal missiles.

Send them off. The Israelis will have willing Arab staffers to rake the beaches for Mother Michelle.

[N]ow, let’s stipulate to the obvious fact that having you or I get a pat-down in a crowded airport while most people are more concerned about getting to their planes on time or aggravated about standing in line or whatever is a rather different matter than even imagining the sort of nutso media circus that would ensue with the president having to drag his 9 and 12 year old daughters down to DCA for a pat-down that would amount to a ritual humiliation in front of the international press corps. The comment itself, the visual created, is simply disgusting, as is the whole personalizing of the situation with regards to the president.

He’s president. He’s ultimately responsible. But President Obama didn’t come up with this idea. And bringing the air of looming sexual threat to his daughters or even his wife in cheap political hustler comments is just shameful.

There’s no other way to put it.

OK then, send Mother Michelle thru. Full pat down.

The TSA hand run under the waist band….

She can lift her shirt on demand, as I was once forced to do returning thru customs in 1996. In a public room (I had been diverted from the mainline, the only person diverted) in front of equal opportunity fat slobs, one white, one asian, one black. As they fingered their way thru my luggage…

I will say that worthwhile “picture” books for children cost a good deal more than 8.99 having bought many many many for the children of friends..
