and now:

BREAKING: The Egyptian Army announces that Libyan-Egyptian borders are open fully!

Posted on February 22, 2011 by admin

Just now, the Egyptian army has announced that the Libyan-Egyptian borders are open fully! We hope that this will now allow for journalists and hospital supplies to filter through and help our Libyan brothers and sisters

From the LibyaFeb17 site….

At least Obamalama didn’t go to Vail with his family for the weekend. So, there’s that.

Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi appears on state TV

Libya’s leader, Muammar Gaddafi, has dismissed reports that he had fled amid the unrest sweeping the country, calling foreign news channels “dogs”.

Speaking to state TV from outside a ruined building, he asserted: “I am in Tripoli and not in Venezuela.”

Pic of him with an umbrella. Bullet-proof?

A statement described the protesters as “terrorist gangs made up mostly of misguided youths”, who had been exploited and fed “hallucinogenic pills” by people following foreign agendas.

Sure. That sounds plausible…

diane - 21 February 2011

ahhhh …but nonetheless, ..obombster and mickey ….are still likely walled off, in their own “snow” drift ….. don’t even want to know who else accompanies [sic (and sick)] them in that snowed in fortress,…. the image of shrub and condi, in leather, in the same room (let alone a foursome or more (poppy and babs, not quite up to the activity ..voyeuring in the corner …. let alone BIll and Hill, et al …and all the “MUST BE READ TO BE RELEVANT BLAWWWGHERS ……..et al …..), still creeps me out ………

… executive director of the combative National Nurses Association, RoseAnn DeMoro …

This is such a DC insider insipid analysis. Of course the DNC didn’t lead this, it was a protest.

This DC insider perspective is not the shared perspective with the rest of the US who are clearly not into the two party faux bipartisan neatly constructed box. As for DC progressives, I agree with Cornel West, Obama has domesticated them. But I think that you might be surprised at the absolute contempt everyday people (outside of the beltway) have for this beltway bullsh**. The outrage is real. It is spontaneous and if the DNC disappeared, it wouldn’t matter.

marisacat - 21 February 2011

I think ObSlob should worry.

One of the pieces I read at CPunch, think it was a new one this am, said there is no commentary, no interest in Obama nor any other national leader at the WI protests. NO signs asking “Where is Foundling” (snicker).

Randi Weingarten, who flew in and out, apparently urged the locals to make any and all concessions. Exactly what DeMoro nd the nurses were told here 6+ years ago. I suspect by Stern and whoever else.

Petraeus : Afghans Could Have Burned Their Own Children
To Make U.S. Bombings Look Bad.

KABUL – To the shock of President Hamid Karzai’s aides, Gen. David H. Petraeus suggested Sunday at the presidential palace that Afghans caught up in a coalition attack in northeastern Afghanistan might have burned their own children to exaggerate claims of civilian casualties, according to two participants at the meeting.

The exact language Petraeus used in the closed-door session is not known, and neither is the precise message he meant to convey. But his remarks about the deadly U.S. military operation in Konar province were deemed deeply offensive by some in the room. They spoke on the condition of anonymity to describe the private discussions.

They said Petraeus, the top U.S. commander in Afghanistan, dismissed allegations by Karzai’s office and the provincial governor that civilians were killed and said residents had invented stories, or even injured their children, to pin the blame on U.S. forces and force an end to the operation.

“I was dizzy. My head was spinning,” said one participant, referring to Petraeus’s remarks. “This was shocking. Would any father do this to his children? This is really absurd.”

Petraeus, through a spokesman, declined to comment.

marisacat - 21 February 2011

Kerry, Fresh from his failed mission to secure the release – not of a U.S. diplomatic corps employee, but of a Blackwater subcontractor is besieged by antiwar activists and other angry constituents at a meetup in Massachussets.

Anti-war protesters interrupted Kerry numerous times Saturday as he met with constituents. Kerry apologized to a woman who said he called her a Neanderthal for not believing in global warming. The Democratic Party’s 2004 presidential candidate said he was referring generally to those who do not believe in global warming.

Resident Steve Ganzel of Northampton criticized Kerry for failing to stem credit-default swaps, which insure against default of securities tied to mortgages and were blamed for partly causing the collapse of large banks. Kerry said he tried unsuccessfully to gather support for measures that would have imposed regulations.

He criticized House Republicans for proposed budget cuts of $60 billion.

marisacat - 21 February 2011

well they hanged La Kerry, in effigy iirc, in Pakistan.

Things can only get better!!

One result of the Guardian, which catnip posted, calling out Davis as CIA is that EVERYONE is now using it.

Yum.

😆

I think Obster has a headache. 😆

Also really did wonders for Kerry’s Leftisher street-cred LOL.

Lose / Lose! Kinda Like Win / Win,
except for the totally LOSING aspect of it.
Lose Lose Lose LOSE LOSE that FUTURE!

Let alone contract-killer Davis: a minor distinction, he was mil before, but now in quite the delicious pickle, straight up charged with murder in Pakistan. With US Intel and the Pols going out of their way now to distance themselves from his inadvertant Blackwater ass. Or something like that. I wonder if he’s prepared to die for “plausible reliability”. I wonder if he has considered the unlikelihood of the ISI sheltering him now. Or the piss poor probability – and here’s a real Hero Sandwich – > of some low profit margin rescue operation even being thought about now by his buddies given the seller’s market for mercenary services in North Africa and the Arabian Peninsula.

Al Jazeera, live on the web, no problem whatsoever in telling it like it is wrt Obama “no where to be seen today” and Hillary “too little too late”

Had a clip from former UK FM Owen saying the UN Security Council should be called into emergency session “immediately, tonight” and Impose a no fly zone over Libya immediately. This was in a piece noting the international community – and the U.S. – clearly has the ability to enforce such a resolution given military resources based in Italy.

Ah yes our military bases:
Endorsed by Obama as a safeguard for peace…

AJ E did announce the UN Sec Council will meet…tomorrow night. :roll 🙄
Cue our latest Ricepuffy, Susan.

Al Jazeera programme Blood and Lust

raises the essential question of the how US military medicine is used as a force multiplier.
Has two medics featured that are… just lost IMO.

And footage of an attempted resuscitation of an Afghan National army KIA… yet no reason for the US Mil heroic measures dance: Anyone with medical training, let alone a field medic who watches it would know the guy had already bled out , was cleaned up and thoroughly field dressed for the footage to proceed from the landing zone.

A whole lot of ” This job, Our Job..” ETC.
The ethical questions raised by the reporter met with little but dismay and recital that US Military medicine is “there for the Afghans, too”… 🙄

It is so not going to go well when these vets come home. If they ever do..

11. marisacat - 21 February 2011

Dominos!

[N]ow the scene is set for more bloodshed by an increasingly isolated regime as the people become more emboldened to continue their demand that was raised from the beginning of the revolution; the downfall of the Al Khalifa hereditary dictatorship.

They have not been deterred by the threats coming from the Saudi dictators whose fate hangs in the balance after decades of dictatorship and suppression. These developments have now hardened the resolve of Bahrainis. The Al Wefaq society announced their withdrawal from the Al Khalifa shura council and calls are being made to try the ruler and his clique for genocide and war crimes. It is a history which is now unfolding in Bahrain. The time for real change has come and the days of the Al Khalifa are numbered.

Wherein the Brown Suit of Reform has not lost its sheen from that storied campaign.

The story accompanying the pic is a delightful hoot, with Hilarious falling all over herself –

Mutassim Gadhafi in 2009 paid a little-noticed visit to the State Department, as the U.S. and Libya worked to mend old rifts. There was not much news — most of the commentary lingered on his suit. 😆

The younger Gadhafi is Libya’s national security adviser — and if not the successor to his father’s power, then at least the inheritor of a sartorial legacy.

SECRETARY CLINTON: I am very pleased to welcome Minister Gadhafi here to the State Department. We deeply value the relationship between the United States and Libya. We have many opportunities to deepen and broaden our cooperation. And I’m very much looking forward to building on this relationship. So, Mr. Minister, welcome so much here.

NATIONAL SECURITY ADVISER GADHAFI: Thank you.

SECRETARY CLINTON: Thank you. We’re delighted you’re here.

NATIONAL SECURITY ADVISER GADHAFI: Thank you.

SECRETARY CLINTON: Thank you all very much.

16. marisacat - 22 February 2011

This is so classic.

David Cameron faced charges of hypocrisy last night after he arrived for a tour of the Gulf with some senior figures from the defence industry.

His long-planned visit was originally to bang the drum for British business in export markets, but has become dominated by the turmoil in the Middle East. After leaving Britain early, Mr Cameron became the first world leader to visit Egypt since President Hosni Mubarak was toppled. The Prime Minister is also preparing, in a speech to the Kuwaiti parliament today, to urge governments across the region to respond to calls for reform.

Despite the change in his agenda, Mr Cameron is still taking a large delegation from business and industry, including eight representatives of defence firms attempting to secure contracts in the Gulf states. Among them are: Ian King, chief executive of BAE Systems; Alastair Bisset, group international director at QinetiQ; and Rob Watson, regional director of Rolls-Royce.

..

Yet Mr Cameron was forced to defend the inclusion of defence industry representatives in the travelling party, arguing that it was “very much in Britain’s interests” that the UK continued to promote defence relationships with countries in the region.

He said: “Britain has a range of strong defence relationships with countries in the region. I seem to remember we spent a lot of effort and indeed life in defending and helping to defend Kuwait.

“So the idea that Britain should not have defence relationships with some of these countries I don’t understand. It is quite right that we do.

“We have some of the toughest rules on export licences and exports of arms anywhere in the world. Everything has to meet those rules.”

The packed agenda saw Mr Cameron hold talks with the head of the armed forces supreme council, Defence Minister Mohamed Tantawi, and Prime Minister Ahmed Shafiq – deliberately steering clear of the Muslim Brotherhood, Egypt’s popular Islamist group.

So……… is that a fighter jet in your pocket Mr Cameron or are you excited at the sales prospects…

Eastern Libya in opposition hands
By Andrew England and Hebah Saleh in Cairo and Harvey Morris in New York

Published: February 22 2011 15:52 | Last updated: February 22 2011 16:15

An increasingly desperate Colonel Muammer Gaddafi was clinging to power with brutal force on Tuesday after protests against his regime hit Tripoli, Libya’s capital, and opposition groups consolidated their control of the eastern regions.

He’s still goin on on the tube BTW, he was talking of opposition bombs falling on the Oil Fields.
NOW he’s reciting a list of crimes that will be met with the death penalty and stops himself to say he will not blame the young people tho. And resuming the de4ath Penalty litany now..Back to the rats and cats theme now…

21. marisacat - 22 February 2011

hahahahah Lindorff has an update on Davis/Pakistan/not EVEN CIA but a contractor….

http://counterpunch.org/lindorff02222011.html

So………. How’s that big ”change” vote working?

[A]merica’s and the President’s reputations take another beating as a result of the handling of this bloody incident. Not only did the US dispatch to Islamabad members of Congress, including the Sen. John Kerry (D-MA), as well as Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to press for Davis’s release, threatening the withholding of aid to Pakistan (our ostensible ally in the Afghanistan War!). It provided a patently false document to the Pakistani foreign office claiming Davis to be an employee of the US Embassy in Islamabad (which would have meant he’d have immunity from arrest and detention), when he was actually working out of the Lahore Consulate, where he would not be entitled to any immunity for his actions). It also tried to exchange his regular passport for a diplomatic one a day after his arrest, again retroactively trying to get him immunity from prosecution for his murderous acts.

Furthermore, the US government, according to the Guardian, induced major US news organizations to hide what they knew about Davis’s real role from the American public. The paper reported that several US news organizations had also learned on their own that Davis is a spy, but then voluntarily withheld the information from the American public “at the request of the Obama administration,” which preferred to stick to the fictional story line that Pakistan is holding an American “diplomat” in “violation of the Vienna Convention” on diplomatic immunity. ….

AND Lindorff posts he may still be active SF, more than anything else.

My main reasoning for thinking Davis is in Special Forces is that CIA agents don’t typically advertise themselves as being in the “security” business. Yet Davis was carrying cards when he was arrested after slaughtering two Pakistanis that identified him as an employee of Hyperion Protective Services, LLC. That kind of thing may well by what a secret Special Forces commando might do, but not a CIA agent.

Furthermore, the kind of killing that Davis was involved in–the daylight execution on a crowded street of two young men on motorcycles, and the equipment police found in his car, which included multiple semi-automatic pistols and high-capacity clips, a telescope, a forehead-mounted infra-red flashlight, multiple cell-phones, a cell-phone locater, clippers, military knives, makeup and masks and a camera filled with photos of schools (common targets for bombings in Lahore and other Pakistani cities)–sound dirtier than the typical CIA fare. …

Onward….

… as it dribbles out that at least two of the American Xtian bible dispensers died AFTER US forces boarded the yacht.

BooHooHooMan - 22 February 2011

Davis.
With the Pols Kerry , Obby and Hill defending corporate assassins.

Were not they ALL against outsourcing jobs overseas?

And What about the werkin man?

Oh and they really need to get a better hat rack for the locker room: that jockitch vector between the DI and CIA, SOCOM and Eric Princes Amway Franchise: Xe aka Blackwater.

LET US RECALL That THATmultiple I.D. Crew: Prince’s Blackwater/ Xe are the same “folks” that Obama and Cons not only settled all outstanding legal action, but reinstated them and , with the charade of Obama announcing Iraq was Mission Accomplished 2.0, Obby simultaneoulsy proceeded to DOUBLE their murderous windfall free-for-all.
And make no mistake about it, just handed them a “have at” with the drone joy sticks.

NYT –

To protect the civilians in a country that is still home to insurgents with Al Qaeda and Iranian-backed militias, the State Department is planning to more than double its private security guards, up to as many as 7,000, according to administration officials who disclosed new details of the plan. Defending five fortified compounds across the country, the security contractors would operate radars to warn of enemy rocket attacks, search for roadside bombs, fly reconnaissance drones and even staff quick reaction forces to aid civilians in distress, the officials said.

Yeh some Big Change – O.
He’s a War Criminal.
And his supporters are despicable.
::

All 4 U.S. Good-Lifers were killed on that prirated yacht off Oman..
