Corporal Andrew Skinner from 1st Battalion Mercian Regiment shows ram Derby to former England women’s cricket captain Baroness Rachel Heyhoe-Flint after she was awarded the freedom of Wolverhampton [AFP/GETTY]

and a whole lotta circumstance…

I think Derby the ram is saying quietly, Holy Fucking Fuck! Unhand me! Return me to my meadow!  I am NOT a Dog!  I am not amenable to “walkies”!

****

Also in the column of pomp and circumstance is Libya… John Ellis, Bush relative, calls it, meaning L’Obster’s move to permit armed drones over Libya, a “tactic in search of a strategy”…

It is also a nightmare.

He quotes from a FT article:

[I]t is hard to see how regime change can be achieved, and its consequences managed, without committing ground forces, at least in a stabilisation role. This would be a huge step, threatening an open-ended entanglement, though Libya’s population is only a fraction of Iraq’s or Afghanistan’s. It would split the Nato alliance, many of whose members are unwilling even to join the bombing campaign. It would engage Britain, France and the US in a deployment to arbitrate the future of Libya, while Iraq and Afghanistan remain unfinished business.    . . .

Madman postd this at the end of the last thread:

Protestors interrupt Obama fundraiser to sing for Bradley Manning

marisacat - 21 April 2011

BTW, here is a tidbit not made clear in the local reporting… AND breakfast with the messiah ran 5 – 10K so a table of 10 … not cheap.

[O]bama’s prepared remarks at a breakfast fundraiser of about 200 supporters were interrupted by a table of 10 singing a song in protest of the treatment of Pfc. Bradley Manning.

“We paid our dues; where’s our change?” the group sang.

“That was a nice song,” a displeased Obama said.

Still — it was the second time this week that Obama has shown ill humor — in both cases because he was interrupted. On Monday, he chastised a local Texas television reporter for interrupting him during an interview.

Carney told reporters that, really, Obama is in a good mood. He likes hearing from regular people and — big surprise — he was happy about yesterday’s Facebook town hall.

“He is in a good mood; there is no question,” Carney said. “I think he likes getting out of Washington.”

oh… the jokes write themselves.

marisacat - 21 April 2011

oh wow… I am hearing an updated report on this, it was 21, TWENTY ONE in the group. A single activist, a woman who was part of the group, paid for the tickets.

At 5K that ran 100,000 +, at 10K, 210,000.

Serves him right, the pretzel parade was absolutely closed mouthed about this event, not even the food they ate this morning, was released, nor that Jerry Brown was there (’til he was gone, then they said)

Madman in the Marketplace - 21 April 2011

didn’t go the way they wanted, so therefore it never happened.

marisacat - 21 April 2011

it seems The Pisser got pissy over the serenading.

I’d love to know the real, not the advrtised, take from his 2 days 7, 8, 9 fundraisers drop in…

BooHooHooMan - 21 April 2011

Methinks Barry will be faced with more of this the way they peddle his ass. Too bad his pimps sell him SO CHEAP. I think plenty of juicy gotcha footage will be , basically, purchased for the cost of admission to these things. The Salahi incident made it clear their ass is wide open, fuck, if you look the part so with some tickets for an erstwhile OFA or clean record blogaroon with a modicum of Barry flattery left on the web, in ya go and ya got your withering 30 second spot DONE. Gotta love it: The ole amenable ticket acquisition trick. Niiice. As much for the response of the Barry zeaolots, and the jackboots hustling someone off for daring a peep before the Transparent One, making great counter to the lunatic fringe being the sole province of Goopers.

And while the Secret Service is building a Presidential armored BUS to get him to and fro collection plate hoody-oots, (accomodating gun ports and the counterassault team in undercarriage) unless they have greed, stupidity, and reality countermeasures for the Pretzel and his dumbfuck staff, they’re going to have a rough time saving Haughty Bubble Jesus from embarrassment. Of course I have some advise for the Obama campaign. To Run. I mean,
A multi-pronged campaign:

1. Hire Mark Penn and Terry McAuliffe.
Declare Win now, maintain presumptive pose.
2. Re-Hire Axelrod to run against Washington.
If he’s not working for Bloomberg or Trump by then.
3. Hire Joe Trippi and Bob Shrum after reviewing their record. Sure, at 7, maybe 6 bucks an hour with meals discount, but there’s your job creation.

marisacat - 22 April 2011

Yup… the Salahi antic was endlessly entertaining. Esp as the WH denied they ever got close to Foundling, even as the Salahis had immediately posted ot the web the photo fo them right with, not only Biden (his arms around her I remember), but also the pic of them, shaking hands with Barry.

What a hoot.

BooHooHooMan - 22 April 2011

One thing I always hated in the minor event roles I had working with mostly minor Dem candidates, almost to a person they were all awful when for-real shit happens as it inevitable does in front of real – hello – people or the press. All cork in the ass, deer in the headlights, or the phoney self effacing. I mean fuck, if you get punked, roll with it or push back hard, but Jesus, keep breathing for Crissakes. As tight as incumbent events are, as set-piece the campaigns that GOP run, as singular events, the Adam Clyburn “Real Asshole” of the NYT commentary , the “closed door” in China emergency, even the horrific beating and jailing of Muntadhar al-Zaidi …all were contained with the minor shelf life of “And? So?” ..fucked up, for real, and as really fucked up as it all was…

Contrast that with Gore trying to sigh. etc. Or fucking duck hunter Kerry..like when that kid got tased before his eyes. The Clintons were easily pulled off their cool without terms of engagement or a laydown press. And as you’ve said regarding Obby’s rise, that he was elevated , and while it can be understood in terms of a largely reactionary vote, he also got the soft ball or outright pass on a whole lot of shite…but very fragile, very fragile when slightly out of comfort zone. I think it should be fun to watch this time around if he’s not wholly encased in bubble-wrap.

marisacat - 22 April 2011

Added entertainment, Barry is so tense. And she is so bored.

They both wanna be out and raking in the bucks (for themselves, with no DNC reaching in with big shovels)… My own guess is the ptb are running him as they think ultimately he can still pull in the cash, come what may.

Since cash is what t is all about, both sides.

But I wonder.

BooHooHooMan - 22 April 2011

Added entertainment, Barry is so tense. And she is so bored.

The Dildo Clause in a Pre-Nup can avoid couples so much heartache.

marisacat - 22 April 2011

that gave me a laugh…

:lol: :lol: 8) … 8) :lol::evil:

marisacat - 22 April 2011

but very fragile, very fragile when slightly out of comfort zone

and how. He hates being with people, ordinary people, voters…. If one observed him closely at events, large and small, in the primaries and GE, it was very evident. BIIIG problem. You have to find a way to ace (as in, publicly tolerate) physical proximity to people.

He also has some physical demeanors and attitudes of face and body, that are quite revealing, but were carefully, mostly but not completely, kept from view.

BooHooHooMan - 22 April 2011

of the Bush pertubed chicken lips variety..
Not sure of the Latin, but yeh, the turned head, almost turned-back manager busy with paperwork when he dissed off the “You’re nice enough, Hillary” in debate. Not that I give a shit about a Hillary takedown, but Peach Compote on Date Night he is not. Doted-on by overcompensating grandparents, my take, Grampa of Pacific Command and the Peace Corps embed for Momma in Indonesia during the height of the Viet Nam War aside, Barry more the entitled Army indeed intel brat than glad-to-be-off-the-base kid.
Delighted to be back in Honolulu afterward. BabyFatHunter just plain Army, of the Partisan Special Forces Mercenary variety: “Oh We’re GETTIN Paid.”

marisacat - 22 April 2011

Somewhere in the past few days I came upon a well squashed tidbit… maybe in the NYT mag piece on his mother… while in Indonesia, the household had 4 in help. 2 maids, a cook and a gardener/driver.

Gave me a laugh.

marisacat - 22 April 2011

And while the Secret Service is building a Presidential armored BUS to get him to and fro collection plate hoody-oots …

Speaking of, Gerstein has a post on this: Two buses at 1.1 mil each from the manufacturer in TN, before special add ons from the SS.

Sharp little comments from the thread:

And I assume they will be the new plug-in electric vehicles, too, right? Like the ones we are all supposed to run out and buy, at $50,000 + each?

Posted By: Polgara | April 21, 2011 at 04:07 PM

****

In other news, it was announced that the candidates would be touring in their special buses dressed in protective gear which the Secret Service modeled on the Iron Man exoskeleton. The President noted that the buses and exoskeletons created 5.5 permanent jobs, were supportive of immigration reform somehow, and also were green.

Gavin, who is now our Lt Governor, has gone to Tejas to see all the good that is going on there.

Have a laugh!

brinn - 22 April 2011

What’s he coming to look at exactly? The way our budget is being balanced on the backs of children, the elderly, disabled and the sick?

The ways in which we are being assraped for the benefit of corporate tax breaks for new “development and growth” that continues to pollute the water and air?

The highest city and local tax rates in the country? Our failing schools? Or lack of decent paying jobs? The drones flying over the border?

Oh, DO tell!

marisacat - 22 April 2011

oh tejas is constantly pushed here as so much better run, business-wise, than we are. But of course one scratch below the surface the story is very idfferent. Aside from the fact that the Texas deficit is jsut as big as ours is.

Don’t worry, we are making our cutbacks on the backs of the poor, disabled, children, etc., and so on. which is likely why Gavin is there.

brinn - 22 April 2011

Oh, yes, “business-wise”, things are swell here, and getting better all the time!

It’s so easy to “run” a state (into the ground) when you bend over backwards to make life peachy for big business and the wealthy and ignore everyone else!

marisacat - 22 April 2011

But that is what we want!! So we go to the master to study!!

brinn - 22 April 2011

*sigh*

Some days it is very hard to find the energy to give a shit….the game is rigged, and there’s no way not to play.

marisacat - 22 April 2011

well.. exactly.

brinn - 22 April 2011

Oh, for fuck’s sake.

Could Perry get any more reDICKUlous?!

Prayers for rain, really? “Normal way of life”? Really?

What an asshole.

4. marisacat - 21 April 2011

No surprise…

NYT:

Americans are more pessimistic about the nation’s economic outlook and overall direction than they have been at any time since President Obama’s first two months in office, when the country was still officially ensnared in the Great Recession, according to the latest New York Times/CBS News poll.

Amid rising gas prices, stubborn unemployment and a cacophonous debate in Washington over the federal government’s ability to meet its future obligations, the poll presents stark evidence that the slow, if unsteady, gains in public confidence earlier this year that a recovery was under way are now all but gone.

Most Americans think neither Mr. Obama nor the Congressional Republicans share their priorities for the country. Mr. Obama’s job approval remains below a majority, with 46 percent saying they approve of his performance in office, while 45 percent do not. And support for his handling of the military campaign in Libya has fallen since last month: 39 percent approve and 45 percent disapprove. In a CBS poll in March, 50 percent approved and 29 percent disapproved. ….

Israel-Palestine Plate Heating Up

Steve Clemons, 04.21.2011

Publisher, ‘The Washington Note’

Obama, Netanyahu and various Palestinian officials are scrambling to act as if they have some plan to move the peace process forward, when in fact, most of it is insincere posturing designed to pour concrete on what has thus far  been failure.

Scrambled Hope over easy.
The Israel-Palestine Plate Heating Up..SPECIAL.
With Toast.
SSDD from Clemons- essentially doing advance for BiBi’s upcoming sermon to Congress.

::
Rice outlined America’s support for the efforts of the Palestinian government, and the unmentioned Salam Fayyad, to lay the foundations for a future Palestinian state — building public institutions, enhancing their capacity and laying the groundwork for quality economic growth.

Ding!Ding!Ding!Ding!DiVACUOUS QUALIFIED DING!

She condemned the death of innocent civilians recently and the escalation of rocket and mortar fire from Gaza.

But this speech by Rice, while important, falls short of a plan.

What is missing is President Obama’s vision for what needs to be done to achieve a stable equilibrium between Palestine and Israel — not full details, but at least an outline of expectations and goals.

Obama seems unwilling to make his own weather in the Middle East, and his team and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton seem to cling to the bizarre notion that, after so many examples when both Israeli and Palestinian leaders have failed to mature and act responsibly about their long-term mutual interests, they would all of a sudden begin to do so. Israel’s short-term interests and long-term interests are different — and thus in the short term, with a party that Israel fundamentally does not trust, it is hard for Israel to make the jump to do a deal that secures its long-term survival and interests in the region.

Israel’s government, even under Netanyahu, probably doesn’t have the legs to do a real peace deal at this point…

Well, Just because Clemons is a well kept rent-boy doesn’t mean he can also be dumb as shit for mentioning Israel’s government, even under Netanyahu, and PEACE in the same sentence.

– and the Palestinian Authority is in the same boat, though with more leaky holes springing water and sinking….

pathetic and petty , that last paltry point.
What a servile piece of shit.

BooHooHooMan - 22 April 2011

Catching on the CBS news overnight a fellow from CNET, Declan McCullough I htink they said, who is dead on serious on the GPA tracking that has been happening thru Apple phones.

He mentioned that the cops have known for sometime about this feature, even as all the rest of us just now learn of it… He also said Apple is absolutely stonewalling and not answering questions about the privacy issues.

7. marisacat - 22 April 2011

Obama, DOJ a firm eye… on something.

What utter bullshite:

The Justice Department Thursday asked the Supreme Court to reverse a federal appeals court ruling that tossed out an indecency fine leveled by the Federal Communications Commission against ABC for a 2003 episode of “NYPD Blue.”

Citing a 2010 ruling it made in a separate case, the Second Circuit Court of Appeals in New York in January ruled that the FCC’s $1.2 million fine against ABC for briefly airing a female character’s nude buttocks during the NYPD Blue episode was “unconstitutionally vague.”

The Parents Television Council praised the Obama administration’s decision to appeal the ruling.

….

brinn - 22 April 2011

They don’t have anything better to do?!?

Who the FUCK cares?!

utter bullshite, indeed.

marisacat - 22 April 2011

I had a good laugh. People missed that Ob and Snob (that would be Baby Fat Hunter), both, are tedious authoritarians. VERY tedious.

Just a bit ago, the DOJ (led by another third rate authoritarian, Holder) went after online poker. Much of which, I am reading, is penny bets. Wow even bets as big as a nickel.

Lucid - 22 April 2011

Think about the children, THE CHILDREN!!!

8. marisacat - 22 April 2011

If I can manage to stay awake (and not gag too much) I will watch to catch a glimpse of Eboo Patel… that faith based outreach shit is much more active under ObRama than it ever was under Bush. And so far they ALL look like knaves, curs and thieves.

TUNE INTO “THIS WEEK”: RELIGION IN AMERICA. This Easter Sunday, evangelical leader Franklin Graham, leader of Samaritan’s Purse and the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, sits down with Christiane Amanpour in a “This Week” exclusive. Also Pastor Tim Keller talks about his efforts to spread the gospel in the concrete canyons of New York City. And then, a roundtable discussion about the role of God in government with interfaith couple — Cokie and Steve Roberts — the Rev. Al Sharpton, Richard Land of the Southern Baptist Convention, and Eboo Patel, founder of the Interfaith Youth Core and a member of President Obama’s Advisory Council on Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships.

Update to that whole Jesus in the Silver Market story. Not lookin good come late Friday.

Genius gambling degenerates at JP Morgan, CEO & Chairmanya Jamie Dimon, Morgan commodities chief Blythe Masters, Bill Daley – UP! – are – henh – sitting on massive, market dominating SHORT positions in the Silver market.
Jeezis, BUMMER, man.

The likes of which haven’t been seen since the corpse abuse of the Hunt Brother ’round Easter 1980.

Fast forward relevant Gospel:
Deal: Chicago, Commodities Markets.
Bill Daley, JPMorgan, silver, Obama, other commodities.

So. Morgan “naked” short sells silver – as of Christmas past nary months ago, JP had bet the ole Ob ranch (it does own) on silver it doesn’t assured silver / precious metals market will fall (saving JP market-shoring stock and bond positions to boot). Due in days, now, Shit has, like, happened since.

Well, they did, like, realise, Oh shit~ 5 weeks ago ~ they needed an edge prior to paying piper. Like being able to conduct their own contract settlement audits from behind vault door and squeek out All is WELL! No- the Money is in Here! Just a sec! In the Shower! We’ll be right out! ETC.

The process of being approved as a licensed vault or weigh-master/assayer for the NYMEX/COMEX futures exchange usually involves a careful security inspection of the vaults, a full report of that inspection, and a completely transparent package submitted to the U.S. Commodity Futures Exchange Commission (CFTC) for approval. This process will ordinarily consume considerably more than 45 days. Apparently, such correct and careful practices apply only to banks and independent storage facilities that are not J.P. Morgan Chase.

Some vault operators are more equal than others. JPM appears immune from processes that everyone else must suffer through. On March 15, 2011, the Commodity Exchange (COMEX) and the New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX) advised the CFTC that they had approved J.P. Morgan’s application to become a licensed vault facility, using a “self-certification” process. The newly licensed vault, located at 1 Chase Manhattan Plaza, NY, NY, is ready to roll as both “weighmaster” and depository, for delivery of gold, silver, platinum and palladium contracts, as of March 17, 2011, two days later.

As a smaller player, the NYSE-Liffe exchange uses COMEX licensed depositories for delivery and storage of its metals. The new JPM vault, therefore, will also qualify to accept delivery of metal coming from the maturity of NYSE-Liffe gold and silver futures contracts, including the smaller 1,000 ounce silver contract.

Departures from usual practices, and special treatment in favor of some over others are events that lawyers describe as having “the appearance of impropriety”, if nothing more. J.P. Morgan is a huge player in the London precious metals market, especially in derivatives. It has always been a very important player at NYMEX/COMEX, especially if you include its Bear Stearns division. The bank is heavily involved in infamous “unallocated storage” schemes in London. A more complete description of London-style storage can be found in my previous article.

JPM is one of six big bank owners of the London Precious Metals Clearing Limited (LPMCL) which clears, “delivers” and sets standards for “storing” precious metals allegedly “sold” at the London Bullion Market Association (LBMA) and the London Platinum and Palladium Market (LPPM). Unallocated storage is the norm at LPMCL member banks, including J.P. Morgan Chase.

So here we are. JP. MORGAN. Hmm, the loss potential of “naked” short positions? Oh……
Infinite.
When further-derived against equity positions??
REALLY Infinite. LOL.
We seen this Crucifixion before , right?

marisacat - 22 April 2011

Oh I think that story has to be wrong. Wrong!

Because Easter is all about Resurrection. And new clothes. And marshmallow peeps. Chocolate Bunnies! And so on.

(What a hoot!)
