Democracy NOW had Jeremy Scahill on, about a new prison in Mogadishu that is in plain site, but also a sescret CIA facility.  Certainly the ICRC did not know of it…

Austrian atheist wins right to be shown on his driving-licence photo wearing a pasta strainer as “religious headgear”

Niko Alm first applied for the licence three years ago after reading that headgear was allowed in official pictures only for confessional reasons.

Mr Alm said the sieve was a requirement of his religion, pastafarianism.

Later a police spokesman explained that the licence was issued because Mr Alm’s face was fully visible in the photo.

“The photo was not approved on religious grounds. The only criterion for photos in driving licence applications is that the whole face must be visible,” said Manfred Reinthaler, a police spokesman in Vienna.

He was speaking on Wednesday, after Austrian media had first reported Mr Alm’s reason for wearing the pasta strainer.

After receiving his application the Austrian authorities had required him to obtain a doctor’s certificate that he was “psychologically fit” to drive.

According to Mr Reinthaler, “the licence has been ready since October 2009 – it was not collected, that’s all there is to it”.

The idea came into Mr Alm’s noodle three years ago as a way of making a serious, if ironic, point.

A self-confessed atheist, Mr Alm says he belongs to the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster, a light-hearted, US-based faith whose members call themselves pastafarians.

The group’s website states that “the only dogma allowed in the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster is the rejection of dogma”.

In response to pressure for American schools to teach the theory known as intelligent design, which some Christians favour as an alternative to natural selection, the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster wrote to the Kansas School Board asking for the pastafarian version of intelligent design to be taught to schoolchildren.

Ob will be leaving with no friends… and I hope they find a much more loving home for the dog, who seems wonderful… That is a household that has never, despite two children growing up, had a pet. None, ever. So I feel pretty sure the dog needs a better home.

Back in the GE there is usually some article around that discusses pets of the candidates… the McCains had had everything over the years… all sorts of pets, multiple dogs and cats a time. Usual household with children. Gosh, even W stopped to feed the 6 toe’d cat on election night in 2004 in the family condo in Houston.

But the Slobs… nothing.

Remember that story the other day about how Obama’s $68 per person fundraising total proved he was supported “by the people”.

Oh, well, about that…

About 40 percent of President Barack Obama’s record-breaking $86 million second-quarter fundraising haul came from big-money bundlers, according to a POLITICO analysis of donors listed on Obama’s campaign web site.

No fewer than 27 mega-bundlers managed to collect at least $500,000 for a joint account run by Obama’s 2012 campaign and the Democratic National Committee.

Still, Obama’s report is hardly that of an insurgent candidate fueled by grassroots donors.

Obama for America, the reelection campaign, raised $47 million,while the DNC raised $38 million through Obama’s joint committee. Of OFA’s total, less than half – $21.4 million – was listed as “unitemized,” meaning that they were contributions of under $200 that require no donor identification data.

“It is challenging enough for health agencies and humanitarian aid workers to gain access to, and the trust of, communities, especially populations already sceptical of the motives of any outside assistance,” said MSF. “Deceptive use of medical care also endangers those who provide legitimate and essential health services.”

The impact of the fake vaccination drive may be keenly felt in Pakistan, where the public already sees an American conspiracy everywhere. Polio campaigns could be at particular risk, as Pakistan has the biggest polio problem in the world.

But again, none of that matters. These are non-people, unpersons, Untermenschen. The only thing that matters is that American elites are made to look tough, willing to do “whatever it takes.” The Guardian quotes the usual anonymous Obama Administration official defending the use of innocent children as human shields for black ops:

He is very representative of San Francisco however. Too much of it anyway. Raised Republican… worked for Richard Nixon… then as he grandly put it, turned away and became a Democrat…. But in actuality the city did, as the (Edmund G, “Pat”) Brown / Burton state wide (it was then anyway) machine took over. This was a very white very segregated city when I was growing up… and very Republican.

But, people join a political machine in a town this size.
