A photograph provided by Israeli Aircraft Industries shows their newly-developed vertical take-off drone, or unmanned aircraft, called the Ghost, ahead of its presentation next week in the AUVSI's Unmanned Systems North America exhibit in Washington DC. The unit, which is electrical and silent, weighs just four kilograms (nine pounds) and can hover for 30 minutes. It can provide real-time intelligence for ground troops operating in urban areas, or can be used for homeland security purposes.

Kabul, Afghanistan: A man walks past burning tankers which were carrying fuel for Nato and US forces [Dar Yasin/AP]

The ”enemy” not only gets a vote, it is possible the ”enemy” placed a targeted vote:

By Associated Press,

WASHINGTON — The Associated Press has learned that more than 20 Navy SEALs from the unit that killed Osama bin Laden were among those lost in a helicopter crash in Afghanistan.

The operators from SEAL Team Six were flown by a crew of the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment. That’s according to one current and one former U.S. official. Both spoke on condition of anonymity because families are still being notified of the loss of their loved ones.  . . . .

From the Houston Chron:

Eric Berger, SciGuy, has confirmed that NASA claims the spherical artifact found outside Nacogdoches:

The tank was part of the shuttle’s electrical power system which as the name suggests consists of the equipment and reactants that produce electrical power for distribution throughout the orbiter.

Well in a sense they did hatch! Once blown into pieces they pecked their way out of the disintegrating Columbia… Those Fearless Voyagers who went in our place! Standing in for our hearts and souls as whole legs and smaller bits fell in back yards where the children, Our Future, play…

We are winning the future.  We have always been winning the future.

As I understand it the Columbia began to break up over Cali, but the real force of being blown apart and falling to earth (like some reverse Jesus!) was over Texas… Palestine, Texas for one.

In other news, the Houston Chron was also reporting that another Fearless Voyager, Gabby Giffords plans to run again.

Should be a freak show, should anyone ask me, that is my opinion.  But I am sure she can say something important about Israel.

America’s best days are NOT behind her, no… we have much murder and mayhem to sow (and reap)…. meanwhile! the US is said to be relaxing the rules on food distribution to starving Somalis.

If we just make sure enough of them starve or are killed by marauding Somali Islamists (that is our story, Islamists killing muslims, mostly), then some can eat.  We run, er, no we administer as designated and invited Saviors, great swathes of the world and we understand food distribution.

Truly we are good, if a bit nutty.  But we mean no harm.  It just happens.

I can’t think why any of this would be the least bit confusing.  It would make perfect sense to La Nan… or to L’Obster …

Just keep chanting about the mean Republicans who want Him to fail.  It calms you down and obliterates your brain.

Which you did not need anyway.  Recognising your name in print and marking an “X” next to it at the polling booth will be more than enough in the Future that we are Winning.

KISS – - – - – or did you not learn from Carville and Clinton?

Y’all be relieved to know Michelle is on. the. job.

Via Mike Allen, courtier to the ever-more-petty bureaucrats, he is on the job too, with this:

BREAKING: First Lady Michelle Obama announcing big commitments by Walmart, Walgreens, Supervalu (Save-a-Lot), and regional retailers to make more health, affordable food available in underserved communities — 2:15 p.m. in the East Room, per a White House official:

“The commitments … will include opening or expanding over 1,500 stores to serve communities throughout the country that currently do not have access to fresh produce and other healthy foods. … Supervalu is committed to opening 250 new Save-A-Lot stores over the next five years in areas with limited or no access to healthy foods … Walgreens – Committed to expanding its food offering to include whole fruits and vegetables, and other healthy options in at least 1,000 stores … Walmart is committing to opening or expanding 275 to 300 stores which will serve more than 800,000 people in rural and urban areas with limited or no access to grocery options. Walmart also estimates that more than 40,000 associates will work in these stores.”

Now that almost all food, whether they slap “Organic” on it or not, has little taste, smell or appeal they in their infinite greatness work their smooth, emollient-enriched fingers to the bone to shovel it out to the poor and underserved….  Or so it would seem.

I see it is called “Breaking”.  I’d vote for “B R O K E N”.

The European news services are filled at the moment with images and stories of the starving and displacement in Somalia and the border region with Ethiopia…. more of our fomenting of chaos and death, as I see it. Proxy wars are good business. Of course the reporting, at least some of it, in Europe is gratuitous and self-serving.

How could it not be.

Yes, they die so beautifully for us… and, photographed by artists, seem already to be a “museum quality” art installation.

The pic of Obby being presented to the Head House Cat / Mouser-in-Chief at 10 Downing is pretty funny.  Larry is not happy to be there…

****

Liberal use of the name “Obama” in this piece from Tom Dispatch, so many white liberals seem unable to say the name in conjunction with crimes and misdemeanors…

From the Tom Engelhardt preamble to a piece by Karen Greenberg:

Every time we get a peek inside Washington’s war on terror, it just couldn’t be uglier.  Last week, three little home-grown nightmares from that “war” caught my attention.  One you could hardly miss.  On the front page of the New York Times, Glenn Carle, a former CIA official, claimed that the Bush administration had wanted “to get” Juan Cole, whose Informed Comment blog devastatingly critiqued the invasion and occupation of Iraq (and who writes regularly for TomDispatch).  Not only that, administration officials called on the CIA to dig up the dirt on him.

. . . .

In case you think taking down Cole was just a matter of the bad old days of the Bush administration, note that the journalist who revealed this little shocker, James Risen, is being hounded by the Obama administration.  He’s been subpoenaed by federal authorities to testify against a CIA agent accused of leaking information to him (on a bungled CIA plan to sabotage Iran’s nuclear program) for his book State of WarIt’s worth remembering that no administration, not even Bush’s, has been fiercer than Obama’s in going after government whistle blowers.

In the meantime, in case you didn’t think American law enforcement could sink much lower while investigating “terrorist activity” and generally keeping an eye on Americans, think again.  According to Charlie Savage of the Times, a revised FBI operational manual offers its 14,000 agents new leeway in “searching databases,” using “surveillance teams to scrutinize the lives of people who have attracted their attention,” and “going through household trash.”  Yes, that’s right, if you see somebody at the dumpster out back, it may not be a homeless person but an FBI agent.

And then there was Peter Wallsten’s account in the Washington Post of a nationwide FBI investigation of “prominent peace activists and politically active labor organizers.” According to Wallsten, news leaking out about it hasn’t sat so well with union supporters of President Obama (or, for all we know, with the president himself), since “targets” include “Chicagoans who crossed paths with Obama when he was a young state senator and some who have been active in labor unions that supported his political rise.”  All are (shades of Cole in the Bush years) “vocal and visible critics of U.S. foreign policy in the Middle East and South America.”  . . . .

That last might be dicey - if US labor had any balls.

All the years the party regulars have spent, arguing in a blizzard of verbiage and TV banter, that the Democrats are the 2% fat milk, or something. “Better for you”…

A waste of breath.

And I flatly do not believe the utter shite being spit up tonight, that the “treasure trove” extracted from that concrete slab nothing tells our CIA that AQ was planning a 9/11 anniversary event, on trains.

They want, our CIA and intelligence services, the military –  corporate complex –  and the government, to utterly destabilise our lives.

We’re so fucking trapped, it is not funny.

Crowds gather outside the White House    [Chip Somodevilla/Getty Images]

Details like this won’t necessarily go down well, thruout the world.  A world that is more and more opposed to the US.

From the Sydney Morning Herald

OSAMA bin Laden was unarmed and with members of his family – including his 12-year-old daughter – when he was shot dead by US special forces on Monday, according to new details that emerged yesterday.

The daughter has claimed that she watched as her father was captured alive and shot before being dragged to a US military helicopter, Arabic news network al-Arabiya quoted Pakistani officials as saying .  .  .

What I know of guns and ammunition can go on the head of a pin and still leave room for subdivisions, freeways and national parks.. but thinking about the bin Laden wound, I wonder if it was not execution style.

The description that is surfacing (which may or may not be true) of the left eye blown out, part of the skull blown off and so on.  I wonder if he was not captured, then forced to his knees and a head shot to the back of the head, with the extensive damage being the exit wound.

I am so tired of war, and it is all there is anymore… that and lies.

Nothing else…

A dead sea turtle washed onto the shore at Waveland, Mississippi. Endangered sea turtles and dolphins are still dying in high numbers in Mississippi, which continues to be impacted by tar balls and weathered oil following the Deepwater Horizon oil leak   [Mario Tama/Getty Images]

From the above link:

[T]he view from her submarine is different, and her attachment is almost personal. On her descent to a location 10 miles from BP’s well in December, Joye landed on an ocean floor coated with dark brown muck about 4cm deep. Thick ropes of slime draped across coral like cobwebs in a haunted house. The few creatures that remained alive, such as the crabs, were too listless to flee. “Most of the time when you go at them with a submarine, they just run,” she says. “They weren’t running, they were just sitting there, dazed and stupefied. They certainly weren’t behaving as normal.”

Her conclusion? “I think it is not beyond the imagination that 50% of the oil is still floating around out there.”

At a time when the White House, Congress, government officials and oil companies are trying to put the oil disaster behind them, that is not the message from the deep that people are waiting to hear. Joye’s data – and an outspoken manner for a scientist – have pitted her against the Obama adminstration’s scientists as well as other independent scientists who have come to different conclusions about the state of the Gulf. She is consumed by the idea that she – and other colleagues – are not really being heard.”It’s insanely frustrating,” Joye says.   . . .

The Guardian article included this little tidbit:

[K]en Feinberg, the independent administrator of BP’s $20bn compensation fund, says he is close to finishing compensating individuals and businesses who were hurt by the disaster – without even coming close to exhausting the $20bn.

He paid out only $3.6bn last year   . . . .

In other news, I see Hapless Hopeless, our iron-deficient so-called leader, is in Annandale today for a dry run, with some hapless kids, of the speech he will give at Facebook tomorrow.

We are blessed to have Leader with us for two whole fucking days.  Here on Wednesday and Thursday in Los Angeles.

Something around 35K per ticket.

Oh right!  The Democrats pretend to take  a principled, spine-filled stand against the Citizens United SCOTUS ruling.

Bridges for sale and moving fast over in Aisle 4!

[M]ore than 150 dolphins, half of them infants, have washed up since the start of 2011. At least eight were smeared with crude oil that has been traced to BP’s well, NOAA said, and 87 sea turtles – all endangered – have been found dead since mid-March. [that would be 87 in just over a month - Mcat]

“To me it makes no sense to think that it is random consequence, but it is kind of maddening because there has been a lot of energy and effort put towards beating the drum of everything is wonderful, everything is going to be fine by 2012,” says Joye.

Other studies have disputed Joye’s findings. Terry Hazen, a scientist at Lawrence Berkeley National Labs, failed to detect any traces of underwater oil in the six weeks after the well was capped. But he did find evidence of naturally occurring bacteria that ate the oil. John Kessler, a scientist at Texas A&M, found that the huge quantities of methane gas, which were released along with the oil, had also rapidly degraded.     . . . . .

Oh please.  Lawrence Berkeley (Chu had been head of it) and Lawrence Livermore Labs are part of the Defense Industry.  Get a clue.  Lawrence’s widow has campaigned for what seems like two decades to have his name taken off the labs.

None other than RUSH, as in Limbaugh, loves to push that oil eating bacteria.  I have no doubt that such an organism exists and functions with naturally occuring oil leaks.

We’re talking massive, on-going disaster here.

Seems inevitable… the incoming, rolling tide of massive disasters, convergences of the natural and the man-made, isn’t over.

Add to that the creepy scummy political class who have been wandering around for decades, forever really, in their unattractive underwear, are currently buck naked.

It ain’t pretty.
