The Party…  their hopes, dreams, wishes. Their favored… their favored… well, their chosen, for 08.

Just one day skimming the media.

Shorter version

Gotta blame someone.  Won’t be blaming  me. And Teresa said it is OK if I slam abortion…  She could care less.  And, you know, we are both Catholic, my wife was even a brave, brave colonial to the Little Brown People in Africa, I fought in a US battle against godless Communism (revise as needed)…

Why did I not get the Catholic vote [not worried about the little brown vote….] ?

[Bernard Cardinal Law gave Rover the US Catholic database in ’99, for one thing – Crawford CQ]

“Even as a supporter of Roe v. Wade, I am compelled to acknowledge that the language both sides use on this subject can be, unfortunately, misleading and unconstructive,” Kerry, a Massachusetts Democrat, told an audience at Pepperdine University in Malibu, Calif. “Instead of making enemies, we need to make progress.”

And I still don’t understand why my friends Dole and McCain did not help me.  Things got tough, I changed my hair, I changed my face… Next time I will be ready for my old commander Hatch and his boys.  I swear. On a Bible! I am still washing off the slime.  Don’t want that again, No sir!

And Hillary is moving right, leaving bread crumbs, I cannot be left behind! I am just praying John Glenn stays alive, I needed him when I went to military groups (NV and WV) so I would not be boo’d off the stage.  Note to aides, get contingency plan if Glenn is “unavailable”.

Please, ask me about abortion… and, hmmm and… oh yes! VALUES.  I want to talk about all of that.  They told me that is the ticket.  Or my ticket.  Maybe Hillaree’s ticket?

Will there be another 15 million in take home pay ??  I am running.  What else have I got to do…

Shorter version

who needs the poorWho needs the middle class!!  They are soon to be poor.  The top one per cent can help fund me.  I will take care of them.  Being one myself.  Peer to peer, I am good to go on that….

In order to appeal to more voters, the party ought to avoid alienating wealthier Americans, Warner told members of the Greater Des Moines Partnership in Des Moines at the outset of a day of meetings in the lead-off caucus state.

*****************************************

Shorter version

there is Warner money floating around.  Awkward, but Tomasky, a poltiical writer I used to enjoy, squeezes some cover out for Warner.  And Hillary.  They, all the political writers yearning to breathe free – knowing they are the huddled masses, are wearing miner’s lights.  They follow the bread crumbs at night.  If they look really hard, there is cash lying about.

[N]ow, as to substance: I’m all for repealing the tax cuts. But I do wonder how much difference Warner’s position will make to the federal treasury. That is, President Edwards would presumably seek to repeal the cuts in 2009. President Warner would let them expire at the end of 2010. That’s just one year’s worth of revenue — somewhere around $35 billion if I’m remembering correctly. And the difference may not even be that great: President Edwards’ repeal, with the way tax law goes, would not take effect immediately when he signs the repeal in 2009 (and getting such a repeal passed in his first year is itself a best-case scenario), but probably sometime the following year — i.e., the same 2010 that represents Warner’s position.

So the revenue difference, in federal budget terms, is getting pretty close to negligible to my mind, [blah blah blah]

That is just junk writing. Soggy flaccid mess.  And remember, TAPPED now has a tip cup.  Makes them diarists, in my view.  Good Lord.

Shorter version…

Will a Wahmbulance come get me outta Harlem if I pen a long, long senatorial-styled exhalation from the Liberal (but they are not) Squeeze Box for the party?

I do not think a meeting between Bill Clinton, or any other member of the Democratic leadership, and a group of bloggers who were specifically engineered to present a more diverse image of the blogosphere than exists in reality would accomplish much.

I especially do not think this would be the case if that diversity was engineered in a way to intentionally reduce the number of leading bloggers who attended. Bill Clinton, or Harry Reid, or whoever, can meet with a diverse group of people anytime they want, for whatever reasons they want. However, if they want to meet with the blogosphere, and they want to do business with the blogosphere, I fail to see what business can be accomplished at such a meeting in terms of media or campaigns (the main reasons Democratic leaders want to talk to the progressive blogosphere in the first place), if instead of sending our leading voices who are most heavily involved in these areas, we instead send a group of far less connected, far less influential bloggers who are engaged in far fewer netroots campaigns to represent us. As long as you conceive of this meeting as primarily business oriented, and I certainly did, that would be akin to union leaders instead sending a representative sample of the various demographics of their membership to meet with Democratic leaders, instead of sending the actual union leaders. That wouldn’t make any sense, and would be of little benefit to either the Democratic leaders involved, or the unions involved. If we are going to meet with Democratic leaders, we need to send our leaders too.

Don’t worry hon.  You sound a lot like Wolf Blitzer.  And that “peer to peer” thang that Warner squeezed out in Iowa… some of that too.  Don’t fall as you bend over to collect the cash.  ooops right, sorry, I know you all paint this as barely sustainable political charity work.  GMAFB!!.

Just appalling.  As if he gives a hoo hoo. Mostly what I notice about Bowers is, he whines.  About everything!  [thanks Nanette for the link]

My prediction: it won’t be any different next time. Why would it be?

What was revealed:   Daou is over paid – basic event planning in the political world failed to occur.

Also revealed:  the pathetic state of affairs in general. Quite a lot of snide whie imperialism online.

Also revealed (again):  Blahhgers are a minor tool of the party.  Tho they advertise it is not that sort of set up.  Minor, I mean.  As you may recall, Armando claimed ot have ”driven” the ”national coverage of Katrina”.  yes he did.

yes… they’ve all gone crazy on that small island called Official Dem Party Blaahhhgdom.  Drunk… and over their own self-perceptions.

*****************************************

Shorter version…

Kerry gets Jesus.  Jesus regards this as charity work.  But he has to move on, billions are suffering – and Kerry’s time is past.  Reality:  Kerry is STILL lost.  The Republicans are still screaming with laughter.

Kerry said in Malibu, Calif., that he “wandered in the wilderness” after the Vietnam War but came back to the Roman Catholic Church after a sudden and moving revelation in the late 1980s.

Oh well.  Not much worse than phoning in the filibuster fakery from behind the barbed wire, private security forces and champagne and cookies at Davos.

*********************************

Oh, and shorter this…

Ah feel mah own pain.  Ah really do.  Ah always did.

Upshot:   they, heir (that would be the wif) and a spare, briefly, very very briefly made sense in ’92. Primarily a lingering effect of the very smart bus tour they made… However, It passed quickly… And, ever since, it has been all about them.  As for the kid:  send her to Iraq with the Bush Twin Set.

Have some Red Devil’s Food Cake.  A long, long, long two years ahead.

UPDATE: 6 PM PT

Oh too good.  SYFPH again, on schedule. [thanks cactus ed]  And from within a litter of kits that gets its chain jerked by some Thug.  Go for it Night Prowl Kitty!!… try, try hard.  We’ll compare notes in November…hmmm?  Meow!

Seems like every few days someone puts out a diary that reminds me of an old cartoon.  It’s been so long that I don’t quite remember the name of it — but the character I’m thinking of is an animal, a pessimist, and whenever a new adventure beckons, and a new obstacle arises, his immediate response is:  “Oh me, oh my, it’ll never work!”

I’ve read one too many of this kind of diary lately, every time Bush has a tiny bounce in the polls, every time the Dems don’t react perfectly to Rovian tactics.  I’m sick of it.  This kind of diary veers pretty close to being a concern troll diary.  It offers no solutions, no real analysis, proves nothing, and just annoys the hell out of me.

There are so many hundreds of people here at Daily Kos who are working as hard as they can on campaigns for Democrats across our nation.  If anyone has a right to complain, it’s these folks, but I never hear anything but optimism from them, even when the campaign is such a tough one that the Repub opponent has a zillion more dollars than the Democratic candidate.  They just keep plugging away, and they don’t let pessimism grab them and haul them down.

I know sweetie.  Life is just so hard.  And you worked your tiny paws to the bone.  Just like Jane over at FDL.  And you just know Lamont will win win win.  And all will be fine fine fine in Disney World.  Or Wally World.  Or with Shamu.  Or at Blahhger Dome.  Or in Harlem.  Or Chautauqua… or or or or.

Things will be fine.

meow.

      Andy Warhol - 1981

From The Hill:

Former Democratic National Committee Chairman Terry McAuliffe has told business associates and Democratic donors that he will chair Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton’s (D-N.Y.) presidential campaign next year, according to several Democratic sources.  […]

While Clinton and her staff insist she is focused solely on winning reelection in New York this November, the decision over who will be in charge of getting her elected to the White House is already settled.

McAuliffe told The Hill yesterday that Clinton has not made a decision on running for president and will not do so until after Nov. 7. McAuliffe also denied telling friends that he will serve as chairman, although sources contradict him.

hmmm make of it what one may… it also has the feel of a bit of a push.  McAuliffe pushing a bit…. But LOL do we care either way… 😉

“To be finance chair would be beneath him,” said one Democratic donor close to Clinton, who added that McAuliffe is “trying to make his presence felt” in moneyed Democratic circles.

No Democratic fundraiser has as high a profile as McAuliffe. Nevertheless, he may be feeling some competition from the many Clinton allies who are positioning themselves as important financial players for her presidential campaign.

“She’s got a full operation,” said Wade Randlett, a prominent Democratic fundraiser based in San Francisco, of the network of Democrats who are laying the financial groundwork for Clinton in the Bay Area. “There are many, many friends who are active for her.”

And on that ”pitching in” that Senators are expected to do… Kos is helping Schumer collect.  O sure, of course he is helping build that <cough spit strangle> majority.  Oh right… yes… that is what it is all about.

Nooooooooo.  It is all about the MONEY.  Not the winning.

I took Hillary and some other Senate Dems to task for not contributing their weight to the DSCC.

Hillary may be cheap by giving just $1 million out of a $22 million warchest to the effort to win the Senate. Feingold’s $10K was pitiful. But of the Senate’s presidential aspirants, none is as cheap and miserly as Evan Bayh,

Amount given to the DSCC: $0
Cash on Hand: $10,363,520

His next election is not until 2010.

Boo.  Hoo.

You get the feeling that Feingold is saying something?  😉

UPDATE, 11PM

Oh he long ago got his rocks off being nasty [thanks D Throat]:

Sigh

It’s the fucking blogosphere. Anyone can start a blog. If you have a strong interesting voice, people will read it.

No one asked me if I was Latino when I started blogging, and it wouldn’t have made a difference if they had. I appreciate this medium because none other would’ve been as friendly to me — a former poor war refugee who spoke only rudimentary English when I arrived in this country — as this one has been

I see lots of sour grapes. Like the crowd that complained a few years ago about the lack of strong female voices at the top of the blog world. Now, women have strong representation at the top. And it wasn’t because of some sort of affirmative action for women. It was because a new crop of strong, talented, and compelling women arrived on the scene and they built their audiences by providing a solid product.

Offline, race and sex matter. You can’t hide from your looks. But online? It’s as color-blind a society as you’ll ever find. That some people try to inject race into a medium that is by its very nature color-blind seems absolutely insane to me.

And for the record, I was invited to the Clinton meeting. I chose to spend the time with my family instead.

Believe me, anyone “playing along” now really is a token.

UPDATE, 2:20 am

Nice analysis in the RI press about the Chafee win a trial run for the big roll out in November.

Oh yes I am laughing.  Chafee thanked the “disaffilated Democrats” several times in his really quite nice acceptance speech.  Oh, ain’t politics a peach?

They exploited a quirk in Rhode Island law, letting undeclared voters participate in any party’s primary. Chafee supporters coaxed large numbers of Democrats to disaffiliate — Warwick Mayor Scott Avedisian offered the figure of 1,600. And the Rove forces poured in millions of dollars to micro-target Chafee supporters with highly sophisticated polling and computer analysis. They ran a big get-out-the-vote campaign, and aired brutal ads attacking Mr. Laffey’s character to try to suppress his support. Mr. Laffey, for his part, refused to run such scurrilous ads, something analysts called a costly error — though the Club for Growth, a conservative group that heavily backed the mayor, ran ads denouncing Mr. Chafee’s record.

On Election Day, I noticed a man in a dark suit, wearing a Chafee button, with a cell phone shoved in his ear — apparently some kind of Washington operative — carefully monitoring the goings-on at the sleepy polling place where I voted. They had this election covered. Meanwhile, poll workers reported an unusual number of people instantly disaffiliating after voting Republican, suggesting that a large number of independents and Democrats took part.

And if I may say so… I think the A List team – this is a Casablanca gambling joint, we all know who they are – is showing evidence of being a tad ragged.  Oh I am sure it is nothing… a good meal and perhaps they can stop inhaling each other’s  helium.  Or hey, just keep it up and have a ‘scattered over the landscape’ day, Wednesday in November.

Oh you bet I am laughing.

And obviously the Democrats have considerable forces. Certainly not relying on a rather rag tag  – oops  I am confused! – I am sure I meant to say:   the online blogger A List team surely has super dooper help from DC.  No doubt… 😉

*************************************************************************

… and here is a column from J S Paine at Stop Me Before I Vote Again…

Enjoy!

[T]hen there’s overthrows that do get reversed fast — like in 1972. The insurgents, such as they were, held power for about 6 months. And yet the damage that overthrow did to the regular core effectively spelled the end of it — the end of the old Truman to Johnson regulars.

They may have restored themselves, but much like the Bourbons, not for long or not for real. Nope. Instead, the party was reformed — if that’s the word — incrementally over a few years into the hodgepodge pushmi-pullu monstrosity we still face today.  [snip]

*************************************************************************

A Team??  Got anyone in Jersey?  I know.  I know… all that work in CT.  Busy busy…

“Fingers to the bone…”  Lamont only won due to A List naked finger bones…  Trading out one Democrat for another.  Truly, the genius of it may be clear – someday.  A cool 6 mil (bet it is by now… or… oops, is it MORE???? ) from Lamont, a dribble, or two, from those people who are told to ”add a penny”.

But… I don’t know… Jersey lookin’ kinda dire… Is it true what they say about Menendez?  You know, a smallish modern day Don?

Anyway… NYO is a fun fun read.  Enjoy!  The real cherry on top for Dems -and national security – is the re-appearance of McGreevy.  … hmmm I’d suggest some action wtih concrete booties… but ooops!  Too late now!!

You may have figured out, I don’t think some god damned fucking shoved to gether half-assed lame conservative Democratic majority is going to save the nation.  I don’t even think they can save their own souls.

I did not expect Kerry to win either… despite all the online, off line squealium.

Spoken like a true Republican. Have you notice the ones that connive and cajole to “get theirs” are the very same ones crying foul for “Welfare Queens”. Standard Republican Issue… Kos is the kind of guy who see absolutly NOTHING WRONG with Jerome Armstrong ripping off and lying to stock market newbies trying to make a few extra bucks to send their kids to college… but cries and screams holy hell if the “special interests” groups (women and Blacks) demand that they we treated as equals.

They are all white (including Kos) elitist shits. Coming to this country Kos ran as fast as he could to the Republican party not to be seen as “other’… I doubt he was ever accepted but still he carries a torch for his old racist exclusive party… so much so that he can never just call himslef just a plain old Democrat. He has to add adjective to declare that he is really not like us “Libertarian -Democratic”… in otherwords “Selfish Democrats”…. I got mine I don’t give a fuck about you.

Bowers is headed on his way to becoming like another famous Chris… Hitchens… a confused disenchanted ideologue who will look back in anger on how the liberals never really understood him, when in fact we was never a liber and he hadn’t a clue of what it meant.

Re: leaders (none / 0)

Fine. Then don’t blame me for anything, ever, because I’m not a leader int eh blogosphere.

They are all dishonest because NONE OF THEM even give a shit about the Democratic party… they are just hustlers and whores trying to make a buck.

Oh I am sorry to shove a tumbrel out into the street:

LOL He is not a Democrat.

Massa is not a Democrat. Nor Wes Clark… Nor Webb. Nor a long list.

The party is being FORCED to the right, even where liberal and left are gathering traction.

Republicrats. Demlicans. DLC NDN New Democrats Pwogs… LOL… Libertarian Democrats.

Really they just want to be itty bitty baby roves.

And Rove knows it. He must laugh…

Lots of good strategists left after Dukakis…

3. D. Throat - 19 September 2006

In this “fucking Blogosphere” what Kos conveniently forgets to mention is that he has had the aid and assistance of a multimillion dollar Think Tank and an insider line to the DC powerbrokers to propell him to the top.

At fist it was by chance because Trippi would not get his act together on DFA (old version Dean for America) to upgrade to a decent “Scoop” blog that a most early Deaniacs found a home a DKos because the technology NOT KOS’s Ideology was better.

Soon after the PRIMARIES, Kos and his crew started systematically banning and harrassing anything and anyone with a true progressive voice. DHinMI was already established there and so was Kos and Trippi’s connection to Simon Rosenberg.

So don’t give me shit that just anyone can start a blog… Kos has the inside line from before the end of the primaries. He was promoted and plugged and gained entrance to many movers and shakers thru Rosenberg…

So cut the shit that “I am just a regular guy who pulled by self up (alone) by the bootstraps and became the leading blogger”… it is a lie.

The only reason there are “sour grapes” is becuase the very people who first made D. Kos “the” place to go and wrote (for free) incredible content and the very ones today Kos is banning and sidelining to make room for campaign operatives and political staffs. So knock off the bullshit… Daily Kos is “Big” because it has been corporatized and plugged into Rham and Rieds asses.

Netrootz Inc. … just be fuckign honest.

4. marisacat - 19 September 2006

Soon after the PRIMARIES, Kos and his crew started systematically banning and harrassing anything and anyone with a true progressive voice. DHinMI was already established there and so was Kos and Trippi’s connection to Simon Rosenberg.

Yup… this is one of my favorite threads from that period.

LOL

5. Nanette - 19 September 2006

I’m going to post this and then go to bed, as this is way late for me, but this:Netrootz Inc reminded me of something.

I recently learned of this scam (and of course, y’all might already know) … you know those act blue pacs or whatever they are called, where they squeeze money out of the community for the politicians? Well, the one kos, bowers and stoller own (I think those are the three) is actually named netroots.

So, while they encourage everyone to make their own act blue page (don’t they have something to do with that too? dunno), everytime anyone uses the term “netroots” to refer to online money machines, they are branding kos, etc’s product. The newspapers use it, politicians, etc. So what’s the first thing most onliners will do when they want to seek out the ‘netroots” (coming from someplace other than those blogs…) .. they’ll google it.

First item (as of this writing) is wikipedia; second, a business site associated with Jerome Armstrong (I didn’t know about this one! no idea if the site is active) and then … we’ll you’ll see.

That’s one way to become a mean, lean money shilling machine… have everyone (inadvertently) branding your product with every mention and sending them to your money gathering site.

Or something like that, lol. Sigh.

6. Nanette - 19 September 2006

sigh, I am totally link clueless today, for some reason. Here it is:

netroots.

7. marisacat - 20 September 2006

oo thanks for that on netroots = I had no idea…. and think I answered a comment of yours back in ”muggy stupor”… 😉

8. D. Throat - 20 September 2006

Which is why Chris Bowers’s 6 easy steps to become as big as Kos is an outright LIE.

Re: Both/And… (none / 0)

I totally agree with everything you are saying. I guess I shoudl have added more context to the way I feel the blogosphere is changing.

In particular, I am starting to feel more and more distant from the general community of the blogosphere. I wonder often if toher bloggers are feeling the same way. The entire thing has become so huge, that it has grown difficult to even remember many of hte posters on your blog anymore, much less the posters on other blogs. We are getting larger and larger audiences, while we are simultanesouly getting a lot more access within existing insitutions of power than we once did. There once was a time when the average blogger wasn’t really all that different from the average blog reader. I think that the differences between the two has now grown quite significant.

In a way, the blogosphere is already adding a “management layer” at the top that it never had before, almost without knowing it is happening. In that sense, the era of the more “equal” blogosphere is coming to an end.

In some ways this feels like a good thing–we are getting more done now. However, it also seems like, at least from my persepctive, that many bloggers are slowly losing touch with their audiences. We ahve changed a lot since we started blogging–particuarly, we have grown a lot more powerful. However, has the community become more powerful? I’m not really sure–it is almost like they made us more powerful, but we didn’t do much back for them.

And this, finally, gets back to what I was trying to say. A lot of bloggers, myself included, jealously guard their independence and freedom of action. However, if we are getting our power from our readers, maybe we should be willing to turn more of that power back over to them. If we don’t, even if we ar successful, are we really doing what we came here to do–empower the outsiders and the low-level activists within the world of the politically engaged.

Wow–that was really rambling. I’ll just post it now and try to regroup my thoughts.

That was then…

the blogosphere is already adding a “management layer” at the top that it never had before, almost without knowing it is happening. In that sense, the era of the more “equal” blogosphere is coming to an end.

Other bloggers should not throw all of their problems online at the feet of a so-called “A-list.” It isn’t the fault of a so-called “A-list” that your traffic isn’t high. That takes a galactic amount of blogging, lots of networking, lots of self-promotion, lots of good, targeted writing, and, yes, a lot of luck. It isn’t the fault of the “A-list” that you are not a full-time blogger. It isn’t the fault of the “A-list” that you are not a leader in your chosen blogging niche. In a few cases, it isn’t the fault of the “A-list” that you are just a fucking asshole, an incompetent, or a complete lunatic that most people don’t want to associate with.

… yeah the gates are crashing all around poor little Chris and Co.

11. marisacat - 20 September 2006

somebody needs to get Bowers down about 40 thousand feet.

LOL. Arrogance Hubris.

These boys are nasty but not especially smart. And now they are only talking to each other. And believing the likes of Bill and Peter stroking them.

MSM will have its day… that is my take. And it will not be pretty. That is what I read thru the lines in the Jake Tapper interview iwth Kos.

Too funny.

12. marisacat - 20 September 2006

aemd… I see that as an extension of what I thought was happening when FDL started gathering in some of the better bloggers Newman Neiwert billmon etc to guest post.

Tie people down. I tis all run on fake friendship.

I read a post at Pandagon by Amanda about the Amsterdam trip It was HYSTERICAL… she flw home with Jeralyn (kos defender first rank…) and asked Jeralyn so are we friends or family or what (remmeber this is a 6 day 5 night thang in A’dam… LOL) and Jerlyn helped her to see they were special friends/family.

I laughed.

BTW, this is from your second link.

When the DNC tried to shove one of their hacks into the chairman’s job and found out the hard way that wouldn’t fly, a lot of other groups are going to have to find out the hard way that the internet can change their leaders as well. You think someone as well connected as Jane Hamsher is going to forget this? Do you think blog readers are going to forget how NARAL stood in the way of protecting abortion rights because it wasn’t politic inside the beltway? The KOS readers aren’t going to forget.

Stick a pin in thsee people…and open the windows… and don’t light a match.

Again, I think MSM is biding it s time. I would guess they have the tick tock on the real numbers. They use “blogs” as mulch right now. Filler… Still building them up up up. It is an old pattern.

Fun to watch… 😉

13. aemd - 20 September 2006

“they were special friends/family”

More like part of “The Family Busine$$”. LOL

I agree that the MSM is biding their time. Introducing them to their viewing audience. Starting a story line. Just setting things up.

14. aemd - 20 September 2006

Nanette, that term netroots (and netroots.com) has an interesting history. Netroot.com was used by Bonner & Associates, a “Washington D.C. based firm that specializes in organizing and mobilizing grassroots support”, to promote their internet division named “Netroots”. Looks like the “Netroots” division was created around 1997.

Via the wayback machine:
http://web.archive.org/web/19990427081411/http://www.netroots.com/

From a Dec 8, 1997 Fortune article by Jeffrey H. Birnbaum (via cnn.com);

“The latest rage in lobbying is the Internet. Jack “Bombs Away” Bonner, whose Bonner & Associates has been a leader in call-’em up-and-patch-’em-through tactics, has opened a new subsidiary, called NetRoots, dedicated to creating Websites for lobbying campaigns. NetRoots’ site on global warming, paid for by companies that oppose President Clinton’s mandatory cutbacks in carbon emissions, provides predrafted E-mails from farmers, senior citizens, and small-business owners that read as if they were self composed and can be launched directly to congressional representatives with the click of a mouse.”

http://www.cnn.com/ALLPOLITICS/1997/11/18/fortune.25/index1.html

How high tech, Bonner was a very early implementor of internet based “AstroTurf”.

15. Deepest Throat - 20 September 2006

So Kos has decided to throw out the ole “I am Latino” bullshit. I guess I should be aimlessly be following my Non-comandante Marcos. So where was he when the DSCC launch their attack ads comparing immigrants to bazooka carrying terrorist or was that too beneath him. Or maybe he really never thought of himself as an immigrant because his favorite President granting him asylum where as other immigrants were getting were being deported. Lets not forget that it was Reagan who opened his arms to him and his family.

Where was he during the immgration debate? How come he never frontpaged the Mexican elections? Oh that is right, he is in favor of US interventions in countries south of the border, hopefully, they can turn out to be just like him. This color-blind bs is the reason racism continues. I guess I never got my memo that we elected him to be our speaker. He is only Hispanic just so he came make sure that his white allies rights can be heard. What did he think it would do, calm the waters – if Kos says s/he is ok, well, lets stop.

For someone who claims his father was a janitor when they came here, he sure has a lot of self-hate for denying the rights of minorities (which he now claims to be part of now) to be heard. Kos motives is to move us like pawns in his political chess board when we aren’t there and mea culpa if we speak up. Then he and his fellow bloggers wonder why they haven’t won an election.

In fact, I hope he continues yapping away, because the more he talks the people will realize that it is his election, his power, his photo op are more important than our lives, our rights, and our feelings. And just like a Central American dictator, he will have his downfall and become nothing more than a sentence or two in a history book talking about blogs and political discourse and forgotten within the DNC.

16. Deepest Throat - 20 September 2006

So how do control the uppity people of color, create another kosklone group.

I’ve been thinking about the question I had on my mind as I left YearlyKos, about the possibility of establishing an lgbt netroots site, which instead became weekly lgbt diary rounds-up on Daily Kos. That seems to be going well for now, but , I’ve begun to think that establishing a central site/network or progressive bloggers of color might be a step towards building and strengthening or own network, parallel and complimentary to — not separate from —the larger network of progressive bloggers.

Inspired by one of Chris Bowers’ posts, I posted earlier about the realities of traffic as related to issue specific blogging. And I guess I’m inspired by Chris again, in saying that those of us who’ve expressed concerns in the last few days would do well to focus on what we can do to address at least some of those concerns ourselves. One of the things we can do is to build and strengthen our own networks, develop leadership, and define success within those networks. Doing so may yield positive results beyond those networks, the larger progressive blogosphere, and progressive politics in general. But it starts with us.

Talk about a lame ass appology for speaking out of line. I guess to get in good with the powers that be is control the uppities by becoming the minority gatekeepers. Way too sad.

17. marisacat - 20 September 2006

I read that yesterday… but iirc he says at least twice he is “inspired” by bowers.

End of story right there.

I may have missed it, but interestingly, as they do touch on flame wars that are issue based I don’t think either TAPPED nor Blogometer covered the reactions to the luncheon.

LOL… what a hoot.

18. marisacat - 20 September 2006

LOL I just read a slobbery Love to Love yoU Baby… comment from Bill about McCain Graham Warner and torture. He says they are for the Rule of Law.

But you know their strategy has been complicated by the fact that Senator Warner and Senator McCain and Senator Graham believe in the rule of law – you know – [laughing]– it’s kind of confusing. It’s made life a little bit tough.

It is from an interview in the FT with Bill. Link.

Picking thru, some stunning stuff.

We help the world – and to listen to Bill he is the emobodiment of human charity (GMAFB) but never a kind word for those inside America in need. Other than that vague “pain” crap.

LOL He seems regretful we have not managed to help Pakistan build a ”good state school system”.

US presidents, they just luv luv luv luv to go abroad.

19. bayprairie - 20 September 2006

well one this is sure. any Dkos related association with a POC centered online blog-group brings with it the possibility/poteniality of Dpartay infiltrators with hidden agendas. The razor I would use to slice and dice that that is twofold. are they running ads? and are they advertising liberally network ads? If both of those questions are yes I would suggest participating somewhere else.

You judge a blog these days by questioning first who’s really the words into the mouths of the posters. and then you ask yourself if they can be believed.

by the way, can i get a hazmat suit to go with my opera glasses and popcorn? are there any left?

20. bayprairie - 20 September 2006

two small corrections :::dam trackpads:::

..well one tHING is sure…

…questioning first who’s really PUTTING the words…

21. marisacat - 20 September 2006

hazmat!! Absolutely! How did I forget. I will hunt some up.

Oh Terrance is already seeeking out Aldon (Hynes)… the guy who said we needed to support, fund, vote for, politik for Lamont as “we need to get the millionaires out of congress”.

LOL. And all the names that Aldon is diddling on his knee are inside the Koswhackian dystopia.

And in a longish drool over at his site (weill get the link) Aldon mentions that he wonders why Terrance contacted him (but Aldon was putting himself in ALL th ethread on this… linking back to his own writings) but he wonders why as …get this… he knows nothing of POC and cannot remember knowing any since HS

We are blithering idiots. And his wife ran for and LOST a state seat in CT in 04.

Guess Aldon did little glad handing.

Unbelievable.

22. marisacat - 20 September 2006

This is Aldon from his entry about the issues, Terrance and so on, at his blog Orient Lodge. You can see Aldon loves learning. And is so so so so comfy with Lamont. Peas / pod… 😉

[W]hen I was in high school, I lived in a very wealthy white liberal community. If we wanted any diversity, we had to ship it in from half way across the country, which is what we did with a program called ABC. (For more on ABC, especially as it relates to the Governor’s Race in Massachusetts, read this blog post).

My one of my few other experiences that taught me a little bit about being black was when a friend of mine in college, a townie, invited me to go with him to his church. As we walked along the road in Wooster, Ohio, his uncle and aunt drove by. They asked Ronnie where he was going, and he said to church. They offered us a ride and we hopped in. His aunt looked me over and said, I’m surprised you’d be coming to church with us.

I had no idea what she was talking about and I asked her why. We got to church, and Ronnie introduced me to his friends at church, one of the preachers, and slowly it dawned on me. No one in the church had the same skin color as I did. I felt a little out of place, especially when they asked the guests to stand up and introduce themselves, but I got into the service and learned a little bit about what it feels like to be in a minority, even in a very friendly setting. Afterwards,

Ronnie’s aunt came up and apologized for her comment and maybe even she learned a little from the experience too.

Emphasis is mine. Love to learn, love to teach. you can see the great dedication to learning – on view. And import “Color”.

So cute.

23. Arcturus - 20 September 2006

Thou shalt not utter :
1) “structural racism”
2) “class warfare”

I won”t share what these quotes, umm, ‘inspired’ in me . . .

Or that picture of the bloggers Hall of Shame grinning stupidly at the camera under Bill’s coiffeur.

“The blogoshpere” is a pretty meaningless phrase unless the user is willing to heavily qualify it. Running the range from samzidat-style soloists to the corporate-styled dKos. Political blogs? Somehow, almost all the leftists on the web aren’t even considered to be under the same tent as the ‘leading political blogs.’ O right; socialists, anarchists, environmentalists, feminists, social justice workers, prisoner rights advocates et al aren’t political. Silly me.

& that’s just one vector of the blaghosphere. What about the poets, musicians, artists, type designers, kite flyers, bdsm-ers, photographers & on & on & on encompassing damn near any aspect of our humanity?

Next time someone talks authroitatively about the nature of the blogosphere, the A-list writers, etc., keep in mind that they are talkign about a gated community whose walls they won’t perceive, whose exclusions they won’t acknowledge.

24. NYCee - 20 September 2006

I heard about Warner breaking from the traditional Dem stance to repeal the Bush tax cuts yesterday on Cspan. With a PS – cHill, apparently, is also veering into Warner’s brave new column. The report on Warner finished by saying Hillary Clinton has refused to say she will reverse Bush’s tax cuts. It reminds me of Schumer refusing to say how LOW he would go in revising the cap, etc on estate tax. He’s the point man for dealing on that. That was why I called him during an action alert about the bad deals being floated that would effectively gut it. I took it as a bad sign, the no comment. Moveable. They are so fucking moveable.

Such mavericks WE have, no? The miserable, hideous GOP has a few standing against torture, whereas our budding crop of rebels is rebelling against reversing those miserable, hideous GOP tax cuts to the wealthy.

And still, they do not smell the fucking coffee, these Dem loyalists who march to D or die. I like that Tomasky piece, Marisa, about how it wont really matter if it is postponed, which in fact does give cover to Warner. Of course it matters. You fucking are either for the plutocracy or not. You do whatever you can, enact whatever measures you can, no matter how ‘paltry’ the billions (35?) you net from the Richie Riches in the first year. Maybe a chunk of those billions could provide NO with decent levees for starters. And help to rebuild the houses the govt’s mismanagement allowed to be wrecked. You give it to the drowning city’s most victimized. What you do NOT do is leave those obscene tax givebacks to those who are already fucking drowning in dough.

Nip, snip. Bit by bit. I wonder if anyone is decrying this latest Warner flakeout at Kos, this most current GOPping of the big tent? Or are they doing a Tomasky?

[Just checked. Nope. Not as far as I could see.] God, those diaries look bawwwring. So tame. As is the Kos Post on McCauliffe on Team Hillary. Something any MSMer, one on the right, even, could write. Does write. Has written. Will write.

25. marisacat - 20 September 2006

I think the Kos party Rahm party Schumer party, Hillaree-e-e-e-e-e party, Bill party, Webb party, Lamont Party, Obama party, Kerry party and whoever else… Tomasky LOL

Should call themselves the Christian Libertarians.

A few weeks ago there was a NYT piece with a lot of quotes from Schumer. He got dragged around the Nutosphere … but they missed that he was ALSO walking away from, the New Deal.

Love to love you baby… and Bill has done more for AIDS than anyone else in the Whole Wide World. And Chelsea wrote her thesis at oxford on Daddy.

Give me a fucking break.

aemd

thanks for the links on “netroots”… really good. I LOVE that it comes from a Repub.

Might as well laugh… 😉

26. NYCee - 20 September 2006

Snagged. I spell police myself. I always always always get stuck on move-able. I want the e in there. I like it. But alas, it doesnt belong. Movable. Okay? They – these modern day Dems – are so damned movable. Now it’s official. 🙂

27. gong - 20 September 2006

Or removable, maybe?

28. marisacat - 20 September 2006

LOL They are the UBER Movables.

If only they could be Re re re re Moved.

29. NYCee - 20 September 2006

I discovered rather early on that I didnt like Rahm. Once I had started paying attention again. When I woke back up to the party, it was DAMN, what the fuck is in this funky smelling tent? I soon identified three deadly letters – DLC. He had/has that soulless quality. And very much in motion.

30. NYCee - 20 September 2006

As for Chris Bowers being “whiney” (Marisa’s musing)… (I confess to totally ignoring him, except the snippets I find here or occasionally on Kos), I found him in a very funny way. Or he found me. He made quite a first impression.

He dropped down into a diary I wrote long ago, during campaign times ’04, where I gave kudos to an editorial by the “Gray Lady” (with whom I had long been disgusted) for calling on Kerry to be more forthcoming in his stance on the war on Iraq. That was a big thorn in my side, his caginess. But forgive me my verbiage, for I had sinned, it seems, by calling the NYT’s by its nick, Gray Lady, according to Monsieur Bowers. Chris found it annoying and confounding and wondered if anyone else did. I found him annoying and petty for focusing on that rather than the issue at hand, and, what’s more, a bit out of it not to recognize “Gray Lady=NYT.”

(I pause to imagine a “hot” netrootzer having a hissy over using ‘cryptic’ – but not really – language! Did anyone catch the Yearly Kos panel on Cspan about “meta”? What a way to engage the non blogging audience, eh? Lol. Mega in-house cryptic and a snoozapalooza to boot.)

Back to my encounter…

I told him the above, in so many words, unwittingly inciting further silliness – a Bowers’ sycophant quickly swooped in to scold me for not showing proper respect to CB. Paraphrasing, his awestruck keystrokes went as follows: What! Do you not realize to whom you are speaking? This is CHRIS BOWERS, a major blogger from MyDD, which is KOS’ BLOGFATHER, you ignorant slut! He then registered further upset, furthering the petty mode, by griping over my spelling of gray with an “a” rather than an “e”. (I believe I then attempted to pacify this … Anglophile? … by explaining that I myself prefer the “e” spelling, but the “a” is American, the “e” British, so I went with homegrown for a homegrown paper and audience. Oh my god… was I actually explaining this to this… gnat?)

I had a hoot over that. I couldnt believe the sycophant’s idolotry and the diversionary pettiness of both of them. My boyfriend and I forever after referred to Bowers as my “important friend from MyDD”… in awestruck tones. I had to tag him thus, as I immediately forgot his very, very important name.

PS – I went back to the diary to refresh myself on the exchange a while ago, after seeing his name come up here. So funny… I had forgotten about the asinine grey/gray spelling controversy.

31. aemd - 20 September 2006

Yeah Ms. Cat, the grifters sharing tools of the trade. LOL. Looking into this, I was surprise to find how early this whole grassroots/netroots market opened up and how the GOP was the leader in using these techniques. I bought into the Trippi/Armstrong/Kos crap about how the grassroots rose up and embraced the internet. Bought it hook, line and sinker. ROFL.

Lots of work was done in the mid to late nineties. There was even a patent filed Jan 14, 1999 for “Method and apparatus for delivering electronic advocacy messages”

Patent number 6,311,211 at http://www.uspto.gov/patft/index.html.

I found the abstract and “Other References” sections very interesting.

32. NYCee - 20 September 2006

Jane Hamsher was just on Keith Olbermann in a segment about the Harlem bash. Just listening out of the corner of ear, but it seems toward the end he posed some somewhat uncomfortable questions to her about getting too “inside.” Will check on my memory soon to get the skinny.

33. NYCee - 20 September 2006

My TV’s memory, that is!

34. NYCee - 20 September 2006

Part of my problem writing here is that I cant preview, so when I add or take away from my original words I often dont adjust the text accordingly… Luckily, this is a pretty simpatico environment in that regard!

EG – #30. I added “being ‘whiney’ (Marisa’s musing)” because I thought it went with my experience, but it fucked up the sentence’s sense. Should read, “As for Chris Bowers (I confess to totally ignoring him, except the snippets I find here or occasionally on Kos), I found him in a very funny way…”

I think I should write everything outside this little yellow box first. Argh!

(Love that “say it!” though)

(Okay, I am going to check out that Olbermann…)

35. marisacat - 20 September 2006

oh I caught it as well. What a hoot. She claimed the blogs’ readership keeps them honest.

LOL… I cannot remember if it was Nanette who ws censored immediately on FDL over the lack of diversity at the lunch…

Maha banned people straight out of threads on the luncheon.

The message sent over this is abundantly clear.

Just like Bill and his Global Initiative conf with Laura as a prime USDA Choice speaker.

We’ve gone corporate Baby! BlogSnots raise a cheer… and follow ad men and political consultants like PEter Daou. “Blogger” is really a refuge for scoundrels, losers, opportunists.

Among the operative class, I mean. Tons of good small blogs out there…

Or, Bill from Hope AR… Ah never looked back. Tall white and on mah way.

Easy to see the complete amalgamation of governemtn and corporations. Bi partisan.

One reason no real outcry from politicos about the war. A few get to play at it. That is it.

On to the Wars of the future.

Blahhgs will support for their nominal party.

And party is just whehter the money chute is blue ror red.

LOL. What a hoot.

36. marisacat - 20 September 2006

Someone just popped me this via email.

LOL.

It is Science Fiction, pretty much.

37. NYCee - 20 September 2006

Ye gads! Next time label yer links, girl. I purposely avoided popping open that diary when I popped over to DK before. Ugh.

Just looking at a YouTube of Hugo Chavez at the UN, addressing the General Assembly, holding up Chomsky’s book on US hegemony… (one of the many…) talking about how excelente it is, the US imperialist drive threatens the planet (check) and talking about the Devil (Bush. Check) … Diablo … how he addressed the assembly the day before and he smells sulpher residue… How he talked like he was the “owner of the world” … need a psychiatrist to analyse Bush… Oh, too funny!

It’s a riot..

Here ‘Tis

38. Madman in the Marketplace - 20 September 2006

oh, Bowers focusing in on your choice of words/spelling.

Big time trick of the blogheeling would-be-schrums at the various moons of the kosoverse. Derail an uncomfortable question, post or comment by screaming about grammar. My stalkers at dK used to do it all the time.

39. TustonDAZ - 20 September 2006

Loved the Bill and Laura show!

I hope George knows who’s hangin’ with wifey

HAR! HAR! HAR!

It is so nice that Bill and Laura have joined up to provide drinking water to those poor, benighted, little brown children of africa…Jesus would be pleased…

I guess I’m just shrill, but at this point I say no quarter for any of our feudal overlords…fuck them all

40. TustonDAZ - 20 September 2006

Chavez was excellent,…”it still smells of sulfur”…beautiful…I’ve got to go check out that youtube vid.

41. Madman in the Marketplace - 20 September 2006

well, Warner et al have pretty much punked him out, so I guess THEY find his skinny ass sexy.

42. marisacat - 20 September 2006

They were both so drippy and liberal and white over the “merry-go-round” energy propulsion for the water.

Blew me away slightly. I believe in solutions that suit the issue at hand… but gah. I am endlessly suspicious of the foundational money. And parceling out solutions that really suit the dispensing entity.

Is there any real difference between Steve Case and Bill Clinton?

Not that I see.

43. Madman in the Marketplace - 20 September 2006

I wonder if Althouse will write anything about how close Mrs. Psycho is to the Big Dog’s cigar:

44. Madman in the Marketplace - 20 September 2006

Oops, meant to link to this. He’s pulling that hand AWFUL close.

45. TustonDAZ - 20 September 2006

Did you notice how many times Bill blinked while he sat on the stool behind Laura?
hmmm.
I think he’s defintetely got a thing for strong calves and sensible shoes….

46. NYCee - 20 September 2006

Yeah, Hamsher, I thought, didnt dig the idea of staying on that “cusp” Keith described, in order to maintain just enough outsiderishness… Funny, Keith ended the segment by saying: and if the blogs get too inside, there will be other blogs to take your place… something to that effect. In other words, he wasnt completely sold on her assurances that the others keep her in grassrootsy line.

It would have been fun to have had a little Marisacat icon pop up (that cat with cig?), bottom of the screen, with a text bubble re the bannings while Jane was touting the populist checking of the intelligentsia by the masses. Oh hypocriseeeee!

Btw, what did she say about the progressive issues, while she had the mike? Nada. What are people to make when they hear: The bloggers are coming, the bloggers are coming, the bloggers are coming!!! – as if they are some rad new element on the political landscape. And then they hear them sound as bland as a Shrum or a From. When the novelty gets to be as commonplace as TV for everyone, what will they seem like? Stars who are either A) hosting lockstep tons of droning commenters, or, B) ignoring their more rebellious and activist commenters. Either way it goes back to the message maker/tone at the top being the message that gets out, which is old politics as usual, nothing new, political go along to get along.

Unoriginal. Uninspiring. Unhelpful.

Team wins, issues be damned. Encouraging the worst in the party by giving it the undeserved support/cover/gloss of the so called progressives.

47. marisacat - 20 September 2006

yes i caught that little snicker from keith at the end… lol…

48. Madman in the Marketplace - 20 September 2006

put me or Marisa or any of the other excellent commenters here … or JS Paine, or MJ Smith over at Stop Me Before I Vote Again, or the Rude Pundit on Countdown, and you’ll hear some REAL opposition.

I’d have a hard time not swearing, but I GUARANTEE you’ll here “vichy dem”, Clinton, Kerry and Warner all in one sentence if I had a chance.

49. marisacat - 20 September 2006

Actually speaking of Bill… there was an incident out here in hmmm 94. Kathleen Brown made a DISASTROUS run for the governorship. Just a lousy messy badly planned run.

But Bill was out here for some function… and I collapsed in laughter…. she was at the podium and he was seated behind with others waiting to go speak… and he was just awash. his eyes were popping out.

She is pretty much short haired, tailored, I would call it spruced up modern Catholic Mother and Biz Atty. A look.

Sure not the blonde cabaret singer from Ark. I forget her name.

50. Madman in the Marketplace - 20 September 2006

Crooks and Liars have vid of Hamster up already, w/ the usual netroots dreck:

It is good to see Bill Clinton, one of the greatest political minds of our time, reaching out to bloggers. It shows the impact the blogosphere is making on the political world, and that impact will continue to grow.

John Amato has read his own press far too much.

51. NYCee - 20 September 2006

Oh, Bowers wasnt the grey/gray critic, MM. That was his fan.

It wasnt even that I was in the wrong THAT time, since grey/gray has two spellings, British and American, respectively. But after CB was perhaps embarrassed by revealing he had no clue as to the Grey/Gray Lady being the NYT (okay with me, just dont get all superior-critical if a writer chooses to use it), his toady tried to get me on “gray” as a save… save face for big boss… I dunno… But it was a faux pas for the saver, as he was wrong. He seemed smitten with CB, in any case.

I dont despise him, just thought that was a funny tale and relevant to some of what I see about him here… which is about all I see of him. Actually, he always looks sad to me, has this sadness about him when I’ve seen him on the telly, in visuals. Odd duck.

52. NYCee - 20 September 2006

Yuuu gooo, Madman!

Love the thought of you in lieu of Jane to say something … meaningful!

Hamsher (sp?) sure as hell didnt.

53. marisacat - 20 September 2006

bayprairie calls her The Hamster.

54. Madman in the Marketplace - 20 September 2006

well, bowers or fan, same thing. The weird transference thing that seems to happen at those cults/blogs fosters that kind of confusion in people’s minds.

I used to brag about “using” kos’ bandwidth when I xposted there, and people got all upset, but I was trying, in my clumsy way, to remind people that it was just a PUBLICATION, not some cult or club or special magical roundtable that they were joining as brave knights. It’s just another tool, NOT a movement in and of itself.

this country is lost to cultism and twisted needs to “belong” to some fake higher thing.

55. NYCee - 20 September 2006

Isnt the YouTube a laugh riot, Tuston?

Chavez is certainly determined to have fun in these hellish times under Bush. They might kill him, eventually, (hope NOT) but he is damn sure not gonna slink around or muffle his message just because he’s in danger. From Mr Danger. Lol. Another title with which he dubs Bush. So ole El Diablo rules the global roost… so fucking what, he seems to say. Have some fucking Cojojes and let’s all have a real good time. Say it!

Also, not to forget the wise words of a chapter’s title in The Economic Hitman – “Venezuela, Saved by Saddam.”

Gives him a little more wiggle room. For now. Maybe he actually brilliantly gives himself the best protection ever by making himself so obviously a likely target for BushCo… (Hudson Institute is big on the LA tamp down… RW thinktank that likes that hemisphere for hegemony.. and is pissed Bush hasnt done ‘more’)

Chavez had it right re Bush talking at the UN like he was the “owner of the world” He really did act so damn arrogant, lecturing the ME countries from that podium, one after another. The insane Dr bush, handing out his prescriptions. The Palestinian leader, Abbas, looked away when Bush got to him. He looked sickened – appropriately – to be lectured by that bloodletting hypocrite.

56. TustonDAZ - 20 September 2006

I really have no shame…

I’ll go slumming and revel in my debasement just to bring you a few choice tid-bits of A-1 Prime Orange Druel for your ludibund pleasure:

A slightly different take on the Billie and Laurie (and our favorite Pakistani Dicator, Mooshie) than our ribaldry.

Call it “Caramel Corn”:

Before I describe some of the highlights of the day, you might like to hear a short and wonderful story about the 42nd President of the United States.

In some profound way, it attests to Bill Clinton’s genius and sense of purpose

I arrived early at the Sheraton Hotel where the Clinton Global Initiative is being held. The lobby was nearly deserted except for a few distant flash bulbs.

I walked a little closer and saw Bill Clinton in one of the heated discussions for which he is famous. I waited and watched. I’ve met President Clinton in the past, he is mesmerizing and larger than life. The sort of person who you can never get enough of–certainly that’s how I feel.

He finished his conversation and was about to walk away as a man thrust a baseball in his face and demanded his signature.

Imagine a baseball–the President of the United States.

Mr. Clinton turned red. He bellowed, shaking his index finger (this is a paraphrase–but very close), “How dare you ask me to sign a baseball, do you have any idea what’s going on in the world?”

Gee, I don’t know Bill, in the face of your actions, past and presnt (and most likely future) how dare you?

Kind of revealing, if you ask me. Why? Because Bill Clinton is an angry man. He’s angry just the way all of us are angry. He’s appalled that the richest nation on the planet is not shouldering more of the burden in the fight against disease, poverty, starvation and illiteracy.

Yeah, that’s why Bill’s angry.

I’m sure he’s having one hell of a time sleeping at night thinking about those “poor folks” in africa…

Moving on to another dive, this one with a truly sleazey (in the most repulsive, not kinky-fun, way) vibe.

A comment from Mariscat’s landmine (barf-bag required!!!)Link from above.

Intelligent, well-read, smart, funny, (30+ / 0-)

compassionate and Liberal men are all sexy.
So you’re all pretty much up there.
Women aren’t like men.
This is what we find attractive.
Oh. And power. Lots of Power.

Somebody go tell Noam Chomsky, all he needs now is his very own diamond enrcusted dildo and he’ll get all the babes…

Let me know if I’m getting too obnoxious (sorry, it’sa ” Why the fuck not have beerz” Wednesday) but here’s just one more tasty gummi snack (careful, the goo doesn’t stick in you chompers)

Power (0 / 0)
is the draw. How that power is used is what is sexy. Used for good and for our democracy: always good. And, I must add, conviction and the power of purpose for the greater good gives the sexual aspect its arc. If you have ever been in the House or the Senate when they are doing business, the essense that that power brings is a papable presence and just it’s waft is overwhelming. Intoxicating stuff

Operatives, wannabe’s, and a strange mix of insect’s drawn to the sepulchral orange glow of a bug zapper

57. TustonDAZ - 20 September 2006

Chavez gets my vote for favorite “head of state”…I’d like to believe that if I were HOS, or other mucky muck like him I would say the kind of things he does…I actually fundementally believe that Bush is a devil, a reptilian walk-thru technically, but then again according to a common urban legend about entheogens’ I’m legally insane…

58. marisacat - 20 September 2006

The Bill and the Baseball is very revealing.

But he’d hang with George, owner (one of them) of the Rangers… he’d hang with Norman at his private promontory mit Main House, Guest Houses and private Golf Course…

but a small request from a voter, a fan (and that is what it is all about right, making sure you count your fan base…) and he knows he can have a nice comfy explosion. Where it will be heard.

Nobody important.

My own take, very Fristian of me, is that Bill is even less post heart surgeries. And had a very messy bumpy ride in the middle of the two surgeries. heavily inot escapism.

And if anyone ever publishd a photo of me like is in The New Yorker (ghostly – HuffPo used it as well) I’d worry. At 60 or whatever he is.

Odd guy.

59. marisacat - 20 September 2006

you know that comment from the bizarre Oprah O Kos the Guppy as No 7…

very odd. I think the take that matt Taibbi reported on Congress on RS last year is much closer to the truth. Voters should hand their heads that they don’t do better, HOLD OUT FOR BETTER… LOL.

The fact the Blahhgs are so dedicated to Bill soon to Hillary (bought and paid for) to Reid and in rotation to all the others is at utter divergence from RL.

I know all sorts of Democrats who for all sorts of reasons dislike either both Clintons, could care less or dislike Reid… dislike DiFi (who if you notice is hardly ever mentioned on Blahhgs, they abstain… 😉 or … have all sorts of positions.

The Blahhgs are such operative tabloids. Extortion sheets and … whiffs of blackmail:

Love us or we ATTACK. We can make or break you…

Pretty funny when you realise the hype vs the reality.

While Bill and Laura have been worrying themselves to death about contaminated water in Africa, Hillary and Newt are worried about the Pope

Newsday.com

When asked about the controversy prior to her speech at an American Cancer Society event, Clinton, D-N.Y., said the pope’s follow-up statement should have been enough to settle the matter.

“It’s just outrageous and offensive that people would be threatening violence against him based on what he said, especially when there is so much they should be working on together,” Clinton said.

After appearing onstage with Clinton at the cancer event, Gingrich was even more outspoken about the religious tension.

“I think what he said in his entire speech … is that Islam has to come to grips with having a genuine dialogue of mutual respect,” said Gingrich, a Georgia Republican when he was in the House. “Everything you’ve seen of the viciousness and the evil that has been said since then by fanatics reinforces the pope’s speech.”

“I think it’s amazing that a 65-year-old nun who’s serving as a nurse in Somalia can be killed over words, and people aren’t outraged by the vicious barbarians that killed her,” Gingrich said

Newt always impresses me with the vehemence that he flogs his strawmen with…so nice to see Hillary playing paddycake with Newt… my question is if Hillary kisses Newt does he turn into a President or does she?

I guess Arkansas married to a Dixiecrat ws pretty OK for a Goldwater Girl.

Love how Republicrats run the party… they always have but for brief intervals.

LOL Bob Strauss for one, DNC chair post ’72. He purged anything at all left or McGovernite immediately.

And the whole Eagleton thing… could have easily been a set up.

It is beyond obscene…

Did you see that Kos and Bowers were both touting for the cable companies ….

I guess that would not have nothing at all to do with Rosenberg nightjob lobbying for the Cable industry against union workers or to refill Lamont’s coffers…

fuck the pope.

hillary should butt out too. if panzerpopen wants to eat jackboot for lunch i think everyone should let him enjoy his meal. he’s a big boy and needs to learn to take a little responsibility for his words and actions.

hey you dont suppose hillary has her people doing the pope’s media events, do you?

that might explain a few things.

[…] Because of the last thread, off and on I would think of the blogs, before they were full-on Blahhggs… and, likely suffering from heat exhaustion, they reminded me a little of tide pools. Open to the elements, part of a whole, a bit removed, changeable due to rain or sun or influx of creatures.  […]

[…] case you didn’t know, Atrios sucks. But, he’s not alone. For example, Matt Stoller and PsiFighter37 and Oliver Willis andsuck too. Of course, Kos sucks. My Left Wing sucks. I suck too. Chris Bowers sucks not once but two times. Armando sucks. Meteor Blades sucks. And in case you are not sure, Steven Dsucks too. […]
