And the old line, who profits.  It was just reported that Israel has overtaken the UK as a global arms dealer, in part due to the increase in business with the US, an increase of more than 4 fold in 7 years.

*** UPDATED, 1:46 am Monday  ***

This was just emailed to me, by someone who returned to the Choice Joyce Dkos diary and read the recent comments in the Dr Harrison / Shanikka / Choice Joyce / megeara exchange:

OH Yeah (0 / 0)

I’m a sex hater.  That’s rich.  I’ll be sure to let my lovers know, as soon as I get done telling my husband.

(I’m poly, something you’d have known had you bothered to check me out in advance.)

This conversation is really a joke.  The least you could do is bother to actually research my commenting history here and elsewhere before commenting.

But NOOOO.  You have had so little exposure in life to women not in your demographic that you can’t do anything but come up with trite labels.

God speed to you.  You prove the very points I was trying to make to start – you don’t listen or respect women’s legitimate differing views, based on arrogance and no more.  Which is fine, but your view is primarily responsible for the backwards movement on abortion dialogue in this country since Roe. So I do hope you enjoy the ultimate outcome of what it will mean to not accept that not every woman is not white, not every woman is not upper middle class, and therefore not every woman believes that it’s all about me.  We weren’t all raised this way, and our cultures don’t all feel this way.  Most black women in this country, myself included, at the top of the list.  Despite disproportaitonately accessing the right to abortion, we are honest.  We don’t make excuses.  And yes, the bulk of us really don’t like abortion and sure wish we could focus on something else actually securing women’s reproductive freedom – like birth control access, and assistance to women who want to give birth.  And yes, since most of us were raised right, we also have a sense of right and wrong and don’t make excuses if we run around fucking and get pregnant.  Nor do we claim that having a baby is something that’s going to destroy our lives, such that we’ll fall apart if we can’t get an abortion whenever we want it.  It’s a necessary-evil perspective with personal responsibility perspective, one that the majority of women in America share.

But it’s all because we hate sex.  That’s definitely it.

In case that screech of screed [charming, wasn’t it?] was too dense to penetrate (and I really recommend the full exchange between Shanikka, Dr William Harrison, Choice Joyce, and a commenter “megeara”) this is the salient line:

I’m a sex hater.  That’s rich.  I’ll be sure to let my lovers know, as soon as I get done telling my husband.

(I’m poly, something you’d have known had you bothered to check me out in advance.)

…here it is on a triscuit for those who needed so desperately to be reassured:

I don’t lie.  I don’t make things up and I have a better than average memory.  I am not likely to forget such a detail, uninvited, of a person’s sex life.  Especially repeated over and over ad nauseum.

And no, I don’t care where she puts her plumbing, but I do note things when she

bitches so fucking much about abortion.  And bitches so fucking much about white women.

Now, to those who needed to know:

 trot off and suck eggs.

So .. how about research on stem cells from The Island of Dr. Moreau?

Britain’s top scientists are calling on the Government to lift a ban on the use of embryos created from human eggs and animal sperm.

A study published tomorrow by the Academy of Medical Sciences concludes that there is no compelling moral or ethical reason why research should not be allowed using hybrid human-animal material. The AMS, whose members include eminent geneticists and doctors, also says this highly controversial research, illegal in several countries, could help find cures for cancer and other fatal diseases.

The UK is a world leader in embryo research and is doing pioneering work to provide stem cells – immature cells that can develop into many different types of tissue – for use in medical research. But it has prompted an outcry from pro-life groups that oppose any such research.

Last month, the Government published a draft fertility Bill that would allow scientists to create three specific types of human-animal embryos or chimeras. But the new laws exclude the creation of true hybrid embryos, combining a human egg and animal sperm or vice versa.

Maybe Dobson will finally have his stroke.

I actually managed to pull something together:

it just goes round and round. I should have googled all your encounters with shanikka before I dared to comment–how different is this from aravia saying–“read my oeuvre before you speak to me!” ?

thus my impression–I am too “ignorant” to argue here.

ok, I know the scribbling is on the wall. first, I questioned Cindy Sheehan’s MOO. second, I post a mild dissent when someone wants to knee-jerk characterize a dk diary as a propagandist mechanism.

there are ROOLZ whether one wants to be explicit about them or not.

5. marisacat - 17 June 2007

No Miss D you want me to support everything I post. And it comes up when YOU don’t like what I say.

You can google if it is so important to you.

I be aravia then why bother with reading me?

oh and I forgot all about donkeytale. who tries to post here as Frtitz. With his doggerel.

Yes quite the little flutter of dying insects.

8. Miss Devore - 17 June 2007

I await whatever dehumanization you think is appropriate for me. In your exquisite language, of course.

“No Miss D you want me to support everything I post. And it comes up when YOU don’t like what I say.”

Is there a problem with supporting stuff you post?
And yes, I have given you the benefit of a doubt in many instances. But when someone tries to discuss some substantive issue with you that doesn’t entirely support your view, you can accuse them of being pro-eugenics, or otherwise reminded to SYFP.

You be the framer here. fine. But don’t insist you distinguish your site from those that don’t allow dissent.

miss D

I’ve had my skirmishes with Marisa and Lucid. it’s not the end of the world. just keep posting and giving your opinions, whether you believe they’re welcome or not. every one of us is going to have a difference of opinion about something. that’s a part of life we can’t avoid. we’re not a hive mind yet, but let the British scientists keep working on it!

Marisa

you grew up rich and we grew up poor. your descriptions of an upper crust upbringing seem to make that plain. my world tour consisted of growing up on military bases in exotic places like Okinawa Japan and Schweinfurt Germany. that, and my unending thirst for knowledge, have lead me to the astonishing lack of success that I enjoy today. full acknowledgement of my status as an educated fool. I’m blessed to have a roof over my head and the ability to keep taking my meds. otherwise you wouldn’t have to listen to my blather. what I’m asking is: is there any reason for you to believe my opinions are any less valid than yours? are miss D’s? it’s pretty damned obvious we both value yours, or we wouldn’t be here. please consider your words, because you can seem extremely dismissive at times.

everyone needs to count to 10, starting now

Miss De

You carried this forward and raised old issues of Cindy Sheehan.

I suggest you go back and read the Sheehan threads. And note that several disagreed with you.. And follow the efforts I made wtih regard to your upset with JJB. Across three threads.

Kevin

Several people reached out to you the other night when You made accusations. Go back and read.

Da nada from you in reply. I also posted again that you could email if you wished.

I also have an earlier email exchange with you when you were upset (issues of dislosure of personal infomation and how different people handle it, you disclose your name I don’t for very real reasons, I suspect you remember the exchange) .

i apologised in the email for certain statements and took responsibility (more than I felt then or now) in the spirit of resolution.

You did neither. I particularly noted that.

Push it and stuff comes up.

Now: I am closing this thread.

I will keep posting the blog – I have done it thru thick and thin for 14 months, but will re-open threads at a later date.
