Antonio Partida holds a President Obama bobblehead as he waits behind barricades outside the Westin St. Francis Hotel in San Francisco to see if he can get a look at President Obama on Thursday. [Lacy Atkins / The Chronicle]

Oh what a coward.  An open secret he wants to slip in and slip out, barely seen if possible.  With DNC bagmen at the ready for the cash.

No official greeting delegation at the air port.. he slipped into the limo, Valerie Jarrett nearly in camouflage slipped into the limo behind him.. and then … they went somewhere.  He had two hours, with the roads cleared to make it from the airport to the St Francis (Fright site, it’s where Gerry Ford was shot… cue the masturbation assassination creepiness!  Start the prayer circles!)…

Then, leaving where ever, he slipped into the Westin St Francis thru a side door… and on to the event.  Then off!  To another private hotel event.

Obama is scheduled to parachute into Liberalville on Thursday afternoon and pick up a cool $2 million for the Democratic Party at a fundraiser at the St. Francis Hotel – then spend the night, before checking out early the next morning and heading to Houston for a community service forum hosted by former President George H.W. Bush. [He’ll be much happier there, I am sure!]

The St. Francis event is about all the public will see of him here. Concerns about big and loud protests over the war in Afghanistan, the prohibition on open gays and lesbians in the military and other issues have squelched any thought of a trip to a local school or high-tech manufacturing plant that often accompanies such visits, said a source involved in the planning.

“You’re always sensitive about having your San Francisco moment here,” said former White House spinmeister Chris Lehane.

He still recalls a news conference he organized here in 2000 for then-presidential candidate Al Gore. It turned into a near-disaster when a “transvestite kept asking if he would support public funding for sex changes.”  snip

He is staying overnight… well guarded I am sure.  I suggest starting rumors..

WHY would he want to be in SF overnight?  We have such vile cooties.  Gay ones, transvestite ones, transgender ones… even buxom red headed Code Pink* cooties, one who made it all the way into the event at the St Francis…. and asked him, at his elbow, about the women having a place at the table for Afghanistan issues.  (A backer paid the freight for her to get in, more than 15k a head.)

He defended saying, Hillary is at the table.  She countered, “I mean Afghani women.”

“Some of our opponents think they are going to wear us down,” Obama said at a fundraiser for the Democratic National Committee last night at the Westin St. Francis Hotel in San Francisco. “I’m not tired, I’m refreshed.”

Glad to hear it.  I am so relieved for you.

KGO tonight is running interference for the shits in DC… trying to shame people about the 250.00 in lieu of a COLA increase on SS.  My god! the money would have to be BORROWED!  Should that be done?

Here a war, there a war, everywhere a war.. anyone remember the GOD DAMNED FUCKING WARS?

I’d laugh, but no point.

* And… Yes, thanks, I have heard about Medea and recent machinations.

Here is a quite interesting tidbit.  No idea if true… tho lots of juicy side stories.  The tale, being told these days it seems, about the pilfered Carter binder, in the run up to the ’80 debate with Reagan.  A Dem turn coat with a … very complex history.

[F]ew understood Bobby’s close friendship with Corbin. Old Kennedy hand Joe Dolan called Corbin “the dark side of Bobby Kennedy,” according to Jeff Shesol’s book “Mutual Contempt.” RFK’s daughter Kathleen Kennedy Townsend admitted that her “Uncle Paul” was “a rascal” who “didn’t respect people,” but she told me she understood what her father saw in Corbin: “My father appreciated somebody who would find out what’s going on in the government or in politics and would be forthright about telling him so that he could have eyes and ears in places that he wouldn’t normally have them.” Columnist Drew Pearson characterized Corbin’s role more bluntly: He was “Bobby’s backstage henchman.”

When RFK was assassinated in June 1968, Corbin was shattered. But he got back into politics after moving to Tennessee. Corbin later bragged to some friends that he had the goods on Democrat Al Gore. Joseph Sweat, one of Corbin’s associates in Tennessee, remembered that Corbin accused Gore, then a young congressman, of renting rooms in a motel in Cookeville to watch pornography. “That goddamn Gore, he is up there in a motel … watching those dirty movies!” Corbin exclaimed. Asked how he knew, Corbin replied, “The desk clerk; I paid him a little bit, and he gave me the receipt.”

In the late 1970s, Corbin went back to Washington. Held at arm’s length by the Carterites, he grew to hate Carter. Naturally, he supported Ted Kennedy’s presidential bid in 1980. He couldn’t stand watching Kennedy concede the party’s nomination to Carter at the Democratic National Convention in August. As Kennedy spoke, Corbin stormed off the convention floor. His friend Bill Schulz of Reader’s Digest called after him, asking what his plans were now that Kennedy was out of the race.

Corbin yelled back, “I’m going to go work for Reagan!” snip

Not sure what was involved in going to a motel in ’68 to watch porno… sounds a tad fishy, that part.

What a saga tho…

I hope they all kick each other to death.  Slip and fall, land in the gutter where they ALL belong.

UPDATE, 2:44 am

hmm mmm

..SAN FRANCISCO-President Barack Obama addressed an adoring crowd of supporters at a fundraiser for the Democratic National Committee in San Francisco Thursday evening, where he told the assembled that “When I’m busy, and Nancy’s busy, with a mop cleaning up somebody else’s mess, we don’t want somebody sitting back saying, ‘you’re not holding the mop the right way’ : ‘you’re not mopping fast enough’ : ‘that’s a socialist mop.'”

So glad Obama feels “refreshed”, as he fights for nothing.

[I]n plain English this means that the U.S. will reduce its debt by slashing domestic consumption and increasing exports. Reducing “domestic consumption” is another often-used codeword for lowering the standard of living of U.S. workers through lower wages and the elimination of “entitlement programs.” Once workers’ wages have been reduced low enough, U.S. corporations will be able to export more on the global marketplace, the other key to Obama’s G-20 plan.

These plans are not mere schemes for conspiracy theorists; they’re already being implemented. Unemployment has a direct, negative impact on workers’ wages. The Democrats know this and are using it as a tool to enforce the pro-corporate G -20 policy. What else explains the deafening quiet from Obama around unemployment — already a social catastrophe ruining the lives of millions of people? [the senate is clearly dragging out the Unemp ins extension, as well. As 300k fall from the rolls every month. Refreshed enough minor fixer man?]

Another way the G-20 plan is already being enforced is by the restriction of credit for workers and small businesses. A recent Wall Street Journal article was titled, “The ‘Democratization of Credit’ Is Over — Now It’s Payback Time.” The “democratization of credit” simply means that workers and low-income people had access to credit if they needed it. No more.Credit that was once used to cover end-of-the-month expenses and emergencies will once again be a privilege of the highly paid and wealthy. . . . .

2. marisacat - 15 October 2009

NYT via Stop Me Before I Vote Again:

“The Bureau of Labor Statistics does not track pay cuts, but it suggests they are reflected in the steep decline of another statistic: total weekly pay for production workers, pilots among them, representing 80 percent of the work force. That index has fallen for nine consecutive months, an unprecedented string over the 44 years the bureau has calculated weekly pay, capturing the large number of people out of work, those working fewer hours and those whose wages have been cut. The old record was a two-month decline, during the 1981-1982 recession.”

Our intentional policy — protected job famine and credit drought — has its winners too, of course: . . . . . .

LINDEN — Rowdy union workers today upstaged a campaign kick-off by New Jersey environmental groups opposing a unique, coal-fueled electric plant proposed for the City of Linden that will capture its own carbon dioxide output and pipe it under the Atlantic Ocean.

ANyways I was able to slide in a first comment at NJ.com’s coverage.

10/15/09 – the day America stopped whatever it was doing and watched a big balloon fly around. Balloon Boy was clearly making a statement about 24/7/365 voyeuristic media saturation and the dehumanizing effect it has on our society…or something. I applaud him. Although he never actually flew, our hearts soared along with that balloon we thought he might have been in.

Outraged babble and sanctimonious tut-tutting over President Obama’s Nobel Peace Prize will pour forth until the very evening he accepts the prize in Oslo, and then for years afterward. His critics are infuriated, they say, because he didn’t earn the prestigious award, or because he didn’t refuse it—or just because those left-wing Norwegians have a lot of nerve. How dare they insult us by bestowing their highest honor on the president of the United States and inviting him to deliver a lecture? . . . . .

Well……… here is one reason why Joe. Poor Ob/Ob PR machine, via emails to media for days, can’t shut up about it.

Good lord.

Bill C was a tedious lying thieving shit but he was NEVER afraid to come to SF and be seen in the actual act.

Don’t miss Perrin building off Mr Fish cartoon (riding at the top fo the column) on thw whole scene. (Mr Fish being the last hard core criticism left at Harper’s, a tired shred of its former self.)

So happy to see some liberal derision of Obama for winning Sweden’s merit badge (Gore Vidal’s apt phrase). I don’t know if this signals a turn against President Savior, but you gotta start somewhere. Yet until more conclusive evidence is in, I’ll stick with my contention that no significant liberal/prog mutiny will develop against Obama, especially as 2012 draws near, and the lunatic right keeps its freak show jumping. . . . .

And yeah I agree with that.

.caught the last half hour..All cookie cutter, but odd….not strange because of the rote palaver but that it was so SO docile…Not even a swipe to speak of …not in the last half hour at least…

Must be that alll camps are simply avoiding any astoundingly boneheaded move…I’ll watch the thing in its entirety later..
NYT released a poll today that has Corzine upby 3.

Politico took note

NYT poll: Major warning signs for Christie

Democrats are growing increasingly confident of their chances holding the New Jersey governorship, and the first New York Times poll of the race explains why.

The poll shows Gov. Jon Corzine (D-N.J) leading Republican Chris Christie by three points, 40 to 37 percent, with Independent Chris Daggett winning 14 percent of the vote.

Mammograms have been an issue as Corzine has tagged Christie as Pro Breast Cancer …wanting to can them…On the side of the Insurance Companies. Of course they ALL Are Pro Insurance Company…..Well…Right after Corzines Mammogram ads ran, Christie’s camp called them out . But In this last 1/2 Hr. Christie pivoted off Corzines claim …Momma survived through early detection, he would never deny the same to others…A real BO move. I think a lot of these Pols thank their lucky stars when someone in the family is stricken… There’s truth in jest the way they use it so… Anyways, Dagget OTOH seemed like a little of his veneer was flaking, said something about how “most insurance companies want to provide mammograms anyways”. Christies main objective I suppose is not to come off as a Bastard .( Good Luck to ALL!) I’m sure they are going to reinforce this down the stretch , embrace the Cancer attack and flip it around on Corzine, go all righteous indignation on his ass with Momma’s Mammaries. … If the Dems haven’t learned by now to expect it they’ll never learn that the GOP doesn’t settle for a draw, that they in fact seek counterattack, (Kerry? Viet Nam? Medals? The Whole kerry as Fighting Dem thing? Swiftboat anyone?) .

Within That NYT Poll (17 pages), there is still that structural distaste for Corzine and a high percentage of those that say: “Could change there mind” about Daggett…
In some ways…Given that the polls have this as either a dead heat, or Corzine pulling it out.. I think such a narrative could move Suburban Indy’s Away from Daggett and towards Christie…The Dems I think had a dillemma to rehabilitate Corzine, put him in striking distance while keeping him as the “underdog” in a “great comeback” bla bla bla “unsung hero” ..(Barf) anything but use the word RE-Election..Again the SOS, preserving the “compelling” reason to vote D in this Historic” “Exciting” yada yah.

The core of my opinion has been and still remains that Indy’s (@ 30% of the vote here)..Indy’s flirting with Dagget will flake off to Christie in greater numbers than they will muck down another term of Corzine. Ihaven’t seen anything that has rebutted that thus far…There is also that intraParty riff…BTW the Senate President was deposed….Codey got the ax in a coup with the help of GOP Tom Kean’s son, TOM…LOL…So young Kean , who wants to be Gov next time is pushing “Indy” candidate Dagget (his father Tom Kean.’s protege LOL yeh like these guy’s are “Independent”) And Codey, who was Acting Gov. for 3 times in the last 10 years…Codey is all smiles on the surface after his loss, but is now all Fuck You to the South Jersey/ Camden (Philly area) Goons who made the deal to oust him with Kean…So what you have ..that the polls don’t show… is TWO CAMPS of these street machines colluding across party lines ..Kean’s GOP (Princeton ? Saddle River you get the Picture) Alligned with the Dem /Camden/ Philly Burb Goons to help Corzine….

OTOH , Codey – ( IRIIISH ..LOL So they sent in Caroline Kennedy to smooth things over-LOL ) Codey of the Old Dem Slug Incumbancy is in Bed with Christie…NTIM, LOL, It would have been reversed depending on the outcome of the Senate President vote…

Still seems to me advantage Christie, because what he needs most is what he’s getting::: to eat in to the Dem Strength in North Jersey and exploit intramural strife there…..Downstate…( with the exception of AC) Advantage GOP.

The S. Jersey Dem Goons have less pull even with Dems the further you go downstate, and little to no sway over Independent Suburbanites…I see Codey’s people going through the motions up North..even if Bill and Ob and Rham make Codey some big offer…his machine knows they won’t be along for the ride if he goes to DC…I even see Cory Booker’s coalition in Newark laying down as he would rather run against Christie 4 years from now than coming on Corzine’s heels..Similar to the Mayor as Kingmaker deal that Rendell pulled over Santorums Senate seat in 2000. …..In Booker’s case, this would be a one shot deal to help Christie for some consideration for his City Budget ( Christie is a Newark Guy) With Next time around being next time around. ( although in Rendells case it was an outright swap Lay down for Santorums Senate in 2000, GOP would return the favor for Rendell’s Guv Run in 2002…..

BooHooHooMan - 16 October 2009

One other thing, I say Independent’s “flirting” with Dagget…
I say that because Dagget is not a true Independent..
He’s GOP. Kean Republican. Worked for William Simon.

The thing thats funny about these polls, the NYT included, is that 60+ % across all candidate preferences think corruption will remain “about the same”.
IOW it doesn’t matter WHAT ya do , you’re screwed.
