Hey there!

You didn’t happen to crash any parties in the last coupla weeks, did ya?

LOL.

In the last few weeks my eyes have become proverbial ball bearings for all the rolling. At the “news” of course.
Current Doping?
I went with the CSPAN over the Sunday Morning shave:

Blanche Lincoln holding forth yesterday on the floor of the Senate.
Getting her soundbites for the rubes back home. Hmm.
The Senator from WalMart lookin guud tuhday .
Jeezis. ! in the latest from Bentonville’s Prêt-à-Porter – I dunno, still shearing the stubble here, shaving cream in the eyes, looks like some internecine textile warfare goin on….my best guess is an American Gothic interpretation of Katherine Hepburn livery?

Uh Oh, she’s ON FIRE now…Wait. Nope. No such literal luck.
But she IS railing against………defenders of the Status Quo..

Specter up next.
Gad I shoulda gone with the straight razor, Scotch and Demerol.

Afghan women among worst off in world-rights group

This is bound to cause some backlash:

Last week U.S. President Barack Obama announced an additional 30,000 U.S. troops for Afghanistan. Reid [of Human Rights Watch] said his silence on women’s issues during his speech signaled that attacks against women in the war-raven country were permissible.

“It matters so much that on the presidential level, it matters from top to bottom that leaders in society, that men and women try to tackle the injustices that are meted out to women daily,” Reid said.

Heads are exploding over at dkos. Breaking News: Senate Dems Drop Public Option

Except that we don’t know what actually happened.

“We have a broad agreement,” Senate Democratic leader Harry Reid told reporters, refusing to give any details on the talks.

Reid said reports the government-run “public option” had been dropped were “not true.”

But it’s fun watching heads explode in the meantime.

No matter what, the Dems have definitely caved to the insurance companies.

Pack your bags right now if you want the GOP back in charge, cuz we won’t have a country left to fight for.

Is it just me or is McChrystal just plain stupid?

Capturing bin Laden key to victory: U.S. general

Capturing Osama bin Laden is the key to defeating al-Qaeda, the U.S. general in charge of the war in Afghanistan told Congress on Tuesday.

Gen. Stanley McChrystal told House and Senate panels that bin Laden is an “iconic figure” whose very survival eight years after the Sept. 11 attacks on the U.S. serves as a recruiting tool for the terrorist group.

U.S. intelligence officials believe bin Laden is in Pakistan, hiding in its rugged terrain bordering Afghanistan.

Finding bin Laden would not end the war in Afghanistan, but the U.S. could never defeat al-Qaeda’s terrorist network until he is caught, McChrystal said.

Wow.

Report: Brazil police killed more than 11,000

RIO DE JANEIRO (AP) — Police in Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo have killed more than 11,000 people in the past six years, many execution-style, according to a report released Tuesday by Human Rights Watch.

Few of the officers have been charged in the extrajudicial killings, which are often labeled in police reports as the deaths of suspects who resisted arrest, the report said.

The 122-page declaration echoes a 2008 United Nations’ finding that police throughout Brazil were responsible for a “significant portion” of 48,000 slayings the year before.

Pretty sobering Liberals Are Useless

I learned to dislike liberals when I lived in Roxbury, the inner-city in Boston, as a seminary student at Harvard Divinity School. I commuted into Cambridge to hear professors and students talk about empowering people they never met. It was the time of the leftist Sandinista government in Nicaragua. Spending two weeks picking coffee in that country and then coming back and talking about it for the rest of the semester was the best way to “credentialize” yourself as a revolutionary

I remember Harvey Cox at HDS used to write these ludicrous books with the most outrageous themes,
“God is a peanut butter sandwich” or something.

Speaking of e-mails from Dems (12+ / 0-)

I got one from either Obama or the DNC offering a winter “fleece” for a certain contribution. My God, didn’t they even realize the irony of the offer of a FLEECE? That’s what I already got — fleeced.

Here’s a gem:

The White House has set up a Web page where members of the public can request the release of names of visitors, but that system gives results only for the names of visitors that the public can guess. If the public can’t guess who may have visited the White House between January and September, it can’t find out the names.

Madman in the Marketplace - 10 December 2009

I think that was a very belligerent speech, at least the part I listened to before getting into the shower this morning. The general theme is “war is peace” and “you ingrates need to support your warmongering overlords, the Americans, more than you do.”

catnip - 10 December 2009

He mentioned Hitler. I invoked Godwin’s Law.
