Snow monkeys: Japanese macaques bathe in hot springs [EPA]

From a gallery at the Telegraph… and some interesting tidbits sprinkled along the slide show…

One that I had not read about them before:  Macaques have a strictly enforced hierarchy thru the mother line, AND only macaques from the higher status mothers are allowed to bathe in the Japanese hot springs….

A web cam runs. NO PRIVACY! Call the ACLU! Pronto! (it’s a joke!)

The Snow Monkeys can be watched live on a webcam.  link

And here is something to singe some American panties… if true. McCaffery seems one sick general, imo, who loves to be in headlines and on the jibber-drool shows and this sort of pronouncement will get him on… so who knows…

US forces in Afghanistan should brace themselves for up to 500 casualties a month this year, a senior retired American general has warned.

The forecast comes from General Barry McCaffrey, formerly the most decorated general in the US Army, who has conducted field assessments of the US military performance in Afghanistan at the request of the US military since 2003.

His assessment projects that US forces can expect to lose between 300 and 500 soldiers a month, either killed or wounded, this year, rising to a peak during the summer months. US military casualties during 2009 were 305 killed and 2,102 injured up to December 20. More than half of those injured have not been able to return to service.  snip

And this:

[“I]t may well cost us an additional $300 billion, and we are likely to suffer thousands more US casualties.”

A promised “US civilian surge” will not materialise, he believes: “Afghanistan over the next two to three years will be simply too dangerous for most civil agencies.”

He adds that the war can be expected to cost the US Government more than $9 billion (£5.6 billion) a month during the summer of 2010. The cost of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan is currently $377 million a day, compared with a constant-dollar equivalent of $622 million a day for the Second World War.

On and on. And on……. and then some more.

The blood shall flow, there is no stopping it.

The USA Today tells me: National security adviser: Airline bomber report to ‘shock’

Meanwhile, in the Great White North, bozo airport guards banned people from bringing books on airplanes until they were told that they were being bozos and a Muslim women from Nova Scotia was denied entry to visit her new American husband.

“They asked me about my background, how much I pay in rent and why I don’t own my own house. I don’t know why they ask me these questions, if I’m pregnant or not,” she said.

“They were rude, yelling at me — very humiliating and very bad — and at the end they asked the aircraft to take my bags off the airplane.”

Too funny. Order the funeral wreaths…

WASHINGTON – The Obama White House rushed Thursday to defend a top counterterror official who went on a ski vacation for six days after an alleged Al Qaeda bomber attempted to blow up a plane over Detroit on Christmas Day.

Michael Leiter — whose National Counterterrorism Center failed to connect dots on suspect Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab — came under fire for being away from his intelligence clearinghouse at the height of the crisis when it was still unknown if other terrorists were on their way to the U.S.

“Director Leiter was – throughout the events of Dec. 25, 2009 – indeed at the National Counterterrorism Center in McLean, Va., and intimately involved in all aspects of the nation’s response to the attempted terrorist attack-to include coordinating intelligence, examining terrorist watchlisting, and briefing Members of Congress,” Denis McDonough, National Security Council chief of staff, said in a statement.

McDonough said Leiter “took six days of annual leave after the event,” and did so “only after explicit consultations with both the White House and the Director of National Intelligence,” Dennis Blair …

Obama:
“The United States Stands with those who…”
Yeh well…don’t slip on the jellied liver on the floor..

This is in reply to mattes inquiry about Israel copping to the IDF organ snatching…

I did see that. Bloody Awful. But in some ways I think the deal is to shuttle the story to whatever bunker is most unassailable..
I mean, really:
Does Netanyahu give a fuck about how it looks?
Will retainers of the Israeli lobby and recipients of Jewish Political money in the U.S. say a word?…Of course not…
As for the prospects aggressive prosecution at the DOJ…
All I can say is Good Luck with expecting prosecution to be far reaching…Given The head of the Criminal Division, the #2 at the DOJ is a Zionist Jew as is the new US Attorney appointed to squat on the Rabbis case in NJ…

tho there’s more to this below***

The people who really raised Holy Hell about the Israeli Organ Snatching/ Selling ..t were the Swedes. – ..following the initial publication of it there…WITH the Tie In to the arrests of Rabbi’s operating in the US. …both pics and perp walk in their original report.

Gotta love the Swedes. When the Swedish Government was pressured by Israel to condemn Aftonbladet’s report, they replied with a curt “No.” And then when the Swedish Govrnment was itself condemned by Israel for its position, the Swedes replied with whatever the diplomatic Swedish translation is along the lines that
Israel could go Fuck Themselves.

Thus far ….aside from fearmongoring calls of
Panic! Terror! Death! ..you know..the usual..
we’ve ended up with the classic “limited hangout” : that fortress Israel cops to a certain public plea over the Palestinian organ snatching – think TRRST TRRT TRRSTS – the same thing they are emphasizing over organ sales made here to rich Saudis…
::

*** in addition to the Swedes, there has been outcry across the EU over reports of live donor Organ Harvesting WRT 25,000 children adopted in Eastern Europe most in the Ukraine, Romania, and Bulgaria for emigration to Israel…

What’s important is that , InterPol was being prodded to look into this long BEFORE
PressTV slammed Israel on it December 3rd.

European academics , particularly those of the working group ELPAT, led by Dutch Ethicists and headquartered in Rotterdam , ELPAT is the medical ethics arm within ESOT (European Society for Organ Transplantation) …and have been decrying this as well…and flat out name , in this order:
Israel, the Gulf States and the US as the leading recipients…

They also note two other factors in their findings..
Israeli brokers pay the most for organs (@ $20,000 USD)
And the end sale is often 3 times as the broker’s cost.
So who’s trying to corner the market in that picture?
They were being charitable actually. . Rosenbaum was brokering his ”
“shmeared” kidneys here for 160 grand a pop.

Well so much for this year’s Holiday stories…
Next thing ya know , you have not 1, not 2, but Three Bungling
Pseudo Trrrr incidents…
– Panty Bomber through the Netherlands
– Swedish Newspaper Cartoonist attack
– and the Slovakian Security forces deciding to plant real explosives 😯 on a holiday travelers luggage as “a test” that flew off
….still packed – ……into Sweden.

So. Some perhaps already moot questions to ponder here….
No why would anyone in Ukrainian bordering Slovakia want to do that? And Who would want to discredit Sweden? Or embarrass The Netherlands , guardians of the International Criminal Court that they are… When people are looking into orphange records of all former Soviet client states whose kids were sold off – 25,000 of them – to Israel?

Note also, that amid the EU gas crisis, the Swedes (among other well heeled members ) see the precarious energy markets for what they are- in a word – Manipulated. But they hardly lay sole blame on the Russians in a global market or are naive to the Ukrainians desire to leverage their position in the pipeline, such as it is….. Like most rational actors with a worldview, they are getting tired of the perpetuated chaos, by design, in the ME.

And note too, that Slovakia and the Ukraine aren’t exactly actually chummy at the moment. Nor have they been much the beneficiary of the EU. A situation that is ripe for ruthless exploitation:

Eastern European countries Bulgaria and Slovakia have been the worst hit in the EU so far. Bratislava on Wednesday raised the option of restarting a nuclear reactor at the old Bohunica plant, following Sofia’s call to restart units at the old Kozloduy nuclear facility the day before.

Effectively tho, Obama’s Executive Order grant over Christmas , the grant of search and seizure immunity to Interpol investigators in the US , will shield relatively recent Interpol entrant Israel as well. And conceivably any dual citizen communications through Israeli Police to and from suspects in the organ selling cases. Pretty slick, no?

Oh well. Good luck getting into this link now …LOL. The Europeans tried for years to keep them out to avoid being co-opted, for years fought their entrance.

But I digress™. So many criminal trails left unexplored…
Like the Polonium that was flying around eventually landing in London.and ended up killing a critic of the Russian Jewish Mafia ..or that story of the dioxin hit on Viktor Yushchenko, who was a little too independent when he was Chairman of the Ukraine’s Central Bank and even less cooperative when he became President.

Correction … I was thinking Ireland like Sweden with a similarly held Piss Off attitude towards the Israelis…. and typed Sweden instead…..

The Israelis aren’t exactly winning friends anymore…anyways..
The flight from Bratislava to Dublin occurred against the backdrop of Irish FM Michael Martin castigating Israel throughout this past year since Gaza, and culminating in calls last week by Fianna Fáil TD Chris Andrews to EXPEL the Israeli Ambassador.

Last week Ireland featured prominently in an article by Jerusalem Post columnist Herb Keinon in which he assessed how the world viewed Israel’s offensive.

“Ireland, according to foreign ministry officials, is currently one of the European countries most antagonistic to Israel, and a country where the hostility of the press is matched by the tone of the government,” Keinon wrote.

marisacat - 7 January 2010

Yeah the Isrealis did not want Obster man to give Mary Robinson, former head of Ireland… a Presidential medal… just a few months ago… the event that coincided with the Hasan shootings at Ft Hood.

Leave it to the Vikings to confront the world’s money men:

EU, IMF Revolt: Greece, Iceland, Latvia May Lead the Way

Total financial collapse, once a problem only for developing countries, has now come to Europe. The International Monetary Fund is imposing its “austerity measures” on the outer circle of the European Union, with Greece, Iceland and Latvia the hardest hit. But these are not your ordinary third world debtor supplicants. Historically, the Vikings of Iceland successfully invaded Britain; Latvian tribes repulsed even the Vikings; and the Greeks conquered the whole Persian empire. If anyone can stand up to the IMF, these stalwart European warriors can.

Huffington Post

I always find your analysis dead on (except on one minor detail).

So much is now on the net, about the Russian-Jewish mafia, yet no main stream press will touch it.

(Okay, so I’ll give my Father Knows Best shtick a rest…)

But no doubt, within the EU , the Scandanavians have been asserting a more or less regionally shared world view. Almost defining responsible world citizenship as the Europen View.
I think they have not only been been influential by persuading others to their positions… they have gained influence , credibility, and wealth via square dealing ….. in its simplest form:
By Playing well with others..

So we know what that means…THEY”RE A THREAT!!!! LOL.

Via the WH report on Reuters

A misspelling of Mr Abdulmutallub’s name initially resulted in the State Department believing he did not have a valid U.S. visa.

marisacat - 7 January 2010

The media has referred to the father as simply Abdul Mutallab. So…….. yet again…………

Meanwhile I heard of a 90 year old mother who was stuck in the East for almost 4 months, unable to untangle that she goes by a nickname (derivative of her given name) that is on her ticket but not n her Cal ID… one set of TSA let her fly east, but now got stuck with winter coming. It took intervention by forget, either Boxer or Feinstein or both, to get her homw.

Shooting Handcuffed Children

The occupied government of Afghanistan and the United Nations have both concluded that U.S.-led troops recently dragged eight sleeping children out of their beds, handcuffed some of them, and shot them all dead. While this apparently constitutes an everyday act of kindness, far less intriguing than the vicious singeing of his pubic hairs by Captain Underpants, it is at least a variation on the ordinary American technique of murdering men, women, and children by the dozens with unmanned drones.

Catholic Bishops Embrace Anti-Abortion Terrorizers Missy Smith and Randall Terry

As the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops renews its offensive on the anti-abortion language in the heath-care legislation soon to be finalized by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, four of those bishops appear to have given their seal of approval to a group whose leader gloated over the killing of Dr. George Tiller, a gynecologist who performed late-term abortions in Kansas, and called on anti-abortion activists to next “get” Dr. LeRoy Carhart, who performs similar services at his Nebraska clinic.

Missy Smith, a stalwart member of Insurrecta Nex — Randall Terry’s merry band of anti-choice hecklers and street clowns — announced plans yesterday to conduct a training session for her own organization, Wake Up, at Washington, D.C.’s John Paul II Cultural Center, an institution presided over by four bishops, including Donald Wuerl, the archbishop of Washington. (The other members include John Myers, archbishop of Newark, N.J.; Bernard Harrington, bishop of Winona, Minn.; and Cardinal Adam Maida, the retired archbishop of Detroit.) Among the speakers on Smith’s program is Operation Rescue founder Randall Terry, who famously called Tiller “a mass murderer,” adding that Tiller, who was killed in cold blood, had “reaped what he sowed.” Susan Gibb, communications director for the archdiocese of Washington, refused comment on whether Archbishop Wuerl approved of the use of the Cultural Center by Smith and Terry, though she made the point that it was Smith, not Terry, who booked the facility.

Not that this should shock anybody …

oh and the wimmens will go on volunteering, smiling, cleaning up, being disregarded in the workplace (as are many men)… thinking they matter.

Language from the Council of Catholic Bishops made it into the US SC ruling on “partial birth” abortion… and cntains language that women are to bond with their preborn.

14. marisacat - 7 January 2010

😆

FWIW… Laura Rozen:

[B]ut when the six page review was released this afternoon — almost four hours later than originally scheduled — there were a few new details, but — a shocker?

An administration official acknowledges that the declassified summary was further redacted between 1pm when Obama was originally scheduled to speak on its findings, and 4:30pm, when he did and the six page summary was released.

Was it redacted further? Yes it was, the official said. He said it was further redacted over concerns that any information divulged involves sources and methods.

“One has to be extremely careful what is made public. It can provide knowledge to your enemies.”

There were apparently many draft versions of the report, with different agencies reviewing draft sections to be declassified for their agency.

The official wouldn’t discuss the nature of what was taken out of the declassified version, or which agency or agencies demanded it.

Previous news reports have suggested that NSA intercepts of people under surveillance in Yemen may have yielded a partial name of Abdulmutallab in the months before he boarded a flight to Detroit on Christmas.

So was the additional shocking detail suggested by the Jones interview and other recent comments removed from what was ultimately released to the public? ….

But we need not wrry our pretty little heads. He’s taken the buck. Or shouldered the responsibility. And the buck.

It’s in there somewhere!!

marisacat - 7 January 2010

Opps… meant to add this… as she def has the more complte version:

“A misspelling of Abdulmutallab’s name initially resulted in State Department believing he did not have a valid U.S. visa,” the summary said.

“Let’s be clear here. In the original Visas Viper report, the name was misspelled,” a State Department official told POLITICO. He didn’t know if letters were transposed, or there was some other misspelling.

“The misspelling had no consequence on the broader process,” he continued. “When the TIDE [Terrorism Identities Datamart Environment] database record was opened [on Abdulmutallab], the correct name was there – and the misspelling was listed as an alias.”

“It is true that the initial report had a misspelling. But ours was only one of number of reports done on this individual,” he said. “This is crucial: the existence of the visa was not a part of the threat assessment.”

It did however cause the State Department to determine, based on an initial search on the wrong spelling of Abdulmutallab’s name, that Abdulmutallab did not have a U.S. visa, when in fact, he was issued a two year multi-entry visa in June 2008.
