Islamabad, Pakistan: A girl holds an umbrella as she shelters from the rain outside a house [Muhammed Muheisen/AP]

Dennis Perrin dispatches neatly with the wars, Our Leader.. and at the end, Murtha and the LibBlahg slobber fest.

Snips and bits:

Keep your heads down.”

Thus spake NATO. Afghan civilians in the southern town of Marjah have been duly warned. So if they get their heads blown off by NATO firepower, it’s their problem, not ours.

The Israeli state is fond of this approach. Let the locals know that the sky will burn, the ground will shake, and should they still be around once the missiles fly, well, what more can one do? It’s what separates us from the terrorists, a humanitarian duck-and-cover. Of course, this only applies to us. As I’ve said before, had the 9/11 hijackers warned World Trade Center workers in advance that the buildings were coming down, it’s doubtful that stateside politicos and commentators would applaud Al-Qaeda’s concern for civilian casualties. Still, had Al-Qaeda thought more tactically, they could’ve responded, “Hey, we’re just following the Israeli example.”   ….

True to form we are the bringers of democracy, peace and stability.  Whatever it may look like on the ground.

Amazing we can push that scheisse, isn’t it?  And we do, from sun up to sun down…….

Pile it on!

I did receive an online petition from Rethink Afghanistan, a group that seems opposed to expanded war, though strictly from a domestic angle, since numerous Americans aren’t interested in how continual bombing affects those on the business end. But even this meek approach can’t shake pro-Obama feelings among the faithful. “Staunching the flow of American blood and treasure into the Afghanistan war will be essential to the success of the Obama presidency and to getting our economy back on track.”

Yes. The real tragedy of this imperial war is how it keeps the Obama administration from succeeding, which clearly is the main priority among liberal patriots.  …

I call that an online petition from the duck blind on the edge of the shooting war…  We need to save our Cool Pretzel!  Above all else!  The little foreign people can stop dying… in order to save him.

In his Murtha evisceration, he skewers John Nichols of The Nation.  Some special sauce bullshit cooking over at The Nation.  Hardly new, of course.

What’s a First Lady or a Barbie to do?

For the 2000 Presidential campaign, the Ms. Foundation and Mattel teamed up to make Presidential Barbie. But what kinda platform could Barbie have? After all, she had to stay within her assigned gender role and not offend any potential consumers. Dismantle the military industrial complex? No. Regulate Wall Street? Forget it. So Presidential Barbie, a white doll with a very Presidential brunette bob, made physical fitness her issue.

Michelle Obama, like Presidential Barbie, was forced to find an issue that fit her assigned gender role (as woman and as mother), but poor Michelle also had to find something that would fit her racial position as well. Having been criticized for being too “angry” and too “forceful” (translation: just too threatening as a powerful Black woman), Michelle hit on the perfect issue.

Fat kids.

But this fact- that obesity is the result of poverty and therefore racialized in the US- is something that neither Michelle nor Presidential Barbie could possibly speak about. Barbie because she has a plastic mouth and no voice box; Michelle because she must walk on ladylike pointy toes through the minefield that is being a Black, educated, and powerful woman in the Barbielike role of First Lady.

Instead, both Barbie and Michelle must smile their plastic smiles and exhort us to move. Otherwise, we might not buy what the First Lady and Presidential Barbie are trying to sell us.

It is, of course, a role she’s more than happy to play.

I see one thing she is pushing is “walking ot school when you can”…….. which is just so perky of her. Esp as more and more school districts drop the school bus system or charge per month for the service. One district here charges over 700.00 (per school year) if you want your child on the school bus.

In th end … whatever.

I hated being burdened by Bush – all the Bushes… and I hate being burdened by the Obamas and their scams.

Madman in the Marketplace - 9 February 2010

So easy to do when the school is miles away, or if there are no safe sidewalks, or and etc.

Or your child is 6 years old….or it’s 110 degrees out…or … or…or

Largest NJ gay rights group will no longer give to Democrats

The largest gay-rights advocacy group in New Jersey has announced it will no longer give money to the Democratic Party.

The move follows the state legislature’s failure last month to legalize gay marriage and amid growing signs that the effort to repeal “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” is already faltering.

“No political party has a record good enough on LGBT civil rights that it can rightfully claim to be entitled to our money on a party-wide basis,” said the chairman of Garden State Equality, Steven Goldstein, as quoted at PolitickerNJ.com.

“No longer will we let any political party take our money and volunteers with one hand, and slap us in the face with the other when we seek full equality,” Goldstein added.

Garden State Equality’s declaration comes amid mounting frustration in the gay community over President Barack Obama’s approach to gay-rights issues. While the president has repeatedly promised to repeal the gay military ban and has opposed the Defense of Marriage Act, activists are growing disillusioned with the administration’s slow-paced approach to enacting legislation that would advance gay rights.

The change in policy is not officially targeted at the Democrats, as the group says it plans to stop donating to all political parties. But since Demcorats received the vast majority of donations, the ban will mostly affect the Democratic Party.

“Is this a broadside at the Democratic Party?” asked Goldstein. “Of course it is.”

From now on, Garden State Equality will only donate to individual candidates who support gay rights, and to organizations that support gay marriage and other gay-rights initiatives.

And the group is urging its 65,000 members to do the same, the Associated Press reports.

activists need to separate themselves from the parties, both of them.

welllllllllllllll they better parse over those statements very closely (sounds like a comfy loop hole to me). I just saw replay of MO the obesity fighter, during the election promising that Ob would overturn DOMA (as if he could) and reverse DADT (as if he could).

Better demand the head of their first born if they don’t deliver.

I have a feeling their own fundraising is down after the donks fucked their constituents over again.

marisacat - 9 February 2010

oh that is very likely! Did not occur to me.

Thru the swirling sex rumors about Paterson there has been quiet mention of a shady deal to do with the Aqueduct … sorta like far to the side of the previous governor’s sex swirl…was the much more interesting issue of co mingled monies, his and the Mob behind the escort biz. And how the only figure mentioned that he was supposed to have spent on frequent use of high priced company was 80K. Which at the price advertised would be all of 16 “dates”.

Drip drip… all we get is shadows of whatever is real.

Love the name “Rev Flake”… there must be a cookie cutter around with that lable.

PIX News has learned that federal prosecutors are investigating Governor David Paterson’s awarding of a lucrative contract to a politically connected group to run a gaming center at Aqueduct Raceway.

The embattled Governor who appears to have dodged the bullet of rumors and innuendo that had been circulating over a purported “bombshell” story being prepared by the New York Times, is now part of a probe by the Eastern District U.S. Attorney’s office in Brooklyn.

Two reliable sources confirm the investigation is “very fresh,” but could not say precisely what it is prosecutors are looking at other than questions about public integrity.

Paterson has been under fire by members of his own staff and legislative leaders for awarding the contract to Aqueduct Entertainment Group, a group that includes former Congressman Rev Floyd Flake, whose political support the Governor had been aggressively seeking

…ah, let’s not forget there were warnings:

The Israelis who were warned hours before 9/11

*** The leading Israeli newspaper, Haaretz, confirmed today that at least two employees at the Israeli-based telecoms company, Odigo, knew what was about to happen two hours before the the Twin Towers of the World Trade Centre were attacked on 11 September 2001.
The warning was immediately passed on directly to Israeli and American security services. This all happened before the attacks took place, yet the intelligence services and the military have claimed that they were not prepared. ***

….two hours. PLENTY of time.

catnip - 10 February 2010

But, according to reports, the threats weren’t specific to the World Trade Center.

Geithner = Liar

This is his same misdirection bs, the TARP losses were “less than anticipated”. The TARP was the smallest piece of the financial rescue package – mostly emergency capital injections until these companies could tap financial markets and pay them back.

On the same day, Freddie Mac to buy out all seriously delinquent loans.

These loans that they’re buying out are owned as securities by the financial sector, most likely they are buying them out at full value so the holders: banks, hedge funds, and whatnot, won’t take any losses.

To boot, I’m presuming that the regulations mentioned in the article mean that Freddie is now holding these loans to maturity, so they won’t have to write down much, even though the value of these loans is probably zero. When you include Fannie, who probably will make a similar announcement soon, losses on these loans could eventually be in the trillions. They’ll all be paid by Uncle Sam.

In related news, apparently the FDIC is shoveling money to hedge funds to buy them out at full value too. The Great Highway Robbery Continues

Geithner should thank his lucky stars he’s not going to jail.
