He is too perfect.  Of course, it might be a she, too…. 😉

Maybe she is saying, Man-Up!

1. Madman in the Marketplace - 2 November 2010

all of this, and we might STILL be suck with Saggy Everlasts? Gawd, if there’s a bloodbath, couldn’t they lop off that old zombie’s head while they were at it?

marisacat - 2 November 2010

I think it was establishment R who pulled it off (if he scrapes thru), from everything i have read about Harry.

ts - 2 November 2010

I don’t know…sticking them with a rapidly frittering majority might be entertaining. Like the Hotel California.

Marisa didn’t think Nan could handle it, maybe Harry throws in the towel after this term too.

marisacat - 2 November 2010

Well … my own guess would have been that La Nan sticks it out, but there has been several hours of CW out here. That says no….

And some scuttlebtt that she has zero interest in serving AND losing all the perks of Speaker. I’d add that no one will be rep from SF that she does nto pick….

One of which, Hastert had it too, but a smaller plane, a mil plane at your disposal for trips home. Every weekend.

ts - 2 November 2010

I’m definitely gonna watch if Barry O. addresses the House before January, just to see the expression behind his right shoulder.

2. BooHooHooMan - 2 November 2010

HAHAHA! A 3-Fer!

BooHooHooMan - 2 November 2010

It’s so funny when you cling on the Nu Link and the mandrill pops up. ROFLMAO!

3. marisacat - 2 November 2010

Ike Skelton (Armed Services) goes down. Wretched nasty anti abortion rights…

BooHooHooMan - 2 November 2010

Another FRAUD.

Madman in the Marketplace - 2 November 2010

good riddance

4. marisacat - 2 November 2010

AP calls it for Jerry Brown.

5. marisacat - 2 November 2010

Geesh, aparrently FOX all but stabbed Carly, declared it for Boxer at 8:01 PM.

ts - 2 November 2010

NYT has it even with 17% reporting. We may have our first premature declaration of the evening.

6. BooHooHooMan - 2 November 2010

MSNBC is straight up not reporting the PA Sen.
The Philly Inquirer already called it.
But Olberman with the helpful “still to close to call”

catnip - 2 November 2010

Rossi’s winning in WA: 54% to 46% with 35% in.

BooHooHooMan - 2 November 2010

No kiddin? Jeez.

BooHooHooMan - 2 November 2010

Well way too early, plus I can always botch something else.. 😆

ts - 2 November 2010

NYT has sneaker lady up by 17k with 59% in now.

ts - 2 November 2010

Recount 2: Electric Boeingaloo

catnip - 2 November 2010

It just flipped:

Murray 51%
Rossi 49%

54% in

7. BooHooHooMan - 2 November 2010

Another of Markos Patrons goes down:

Update 1: NY-19 (John Hall), loses. That’s the 4th member of the Progressive Caucus to lose.

catnip - 2 November 2010

Hall & Oates?

BooHooHooMan - 2 November 2010

He’s gone and I don’t know why
I don’t know how to take it. He’s gone -oh why?

catnip - 2 November 2010

lucid - 2 November 2010

Different Hall – from the band Orleans.

marisacat - 2 November 2010

I really think Reid has been big supporter, his office, discretionary income from DSCC and so on…

8. ts - 2 November 2010

Hilarious twitter comment: “Meg Whitman finally learns how it feels to lose out on your bid for something you really wanted at the last minute.”

catnip - 2 November 2010

9. Madman in the Marketplace - 2 November 2010

I think Paladino threatened to beat Cuomo with a baseball bat if he didn’t learn the right lesson … I guess he’s supposed to regret winning by double digits.

10. Madman in the Marketplace - 2 November 2010

The talking points from EVERY Republican are remarkably consistent … almost word-for-word. You have to almost admire the sheer efficiency of it.

marisacat - 2 November 2010

They’ve had an 800 number, for a long time now.. you can call in every morning. Get the marching orders, TP of the day…

Prolly email now.

(I am not kidding)

Madman in the Marketplace - 2 November 2010

they don’t even pretend to be answering an actual question if it doesn’t fit the talking points.

It’s really stunning how disciplined they are at it.

marisacat - 2 November 2010

I really believe they have training camp. A real one, set of training camps….

Not some fucking Dem “retreat”.

AND I believe they are taught to pitch their voices, to cut thru a mish mash on a panel.

ts - 2 November 2010

It takes major discipline to keep speaking with brown stuff leaking out of your ears. I’m reflexively wiping the tv with toilet paper every time the Boner opens his mouth. (Changed too many dirty diapers the last two years)

11. marisacat - 2 November 2010

AP calls it, Dems keep senate.

12. marisacat - 2 November 2010

Local CBS is showing Boxer and Carly at 47% each.

again it was FOX that first called it.

BooHooHooMan - 2 November 2010

13. BooHooHooMan - 2 November 2010

Fuck Gianoilias LOST!

marisacat - 2 November 2010

OK.. full on major bloodbath.

BooHooHooMan - 2 November 2010

Looks like Manchin is..the Donks firewall in the Sen…

lucid - 2 November 2010

Bennett might still pull out CO & I think Murray pulls out WA and Reid NV. Who knows what happens in AK with the collapse of the handcuffer.

14. marisacat - 2 November 2010

AND IN OHIO: GOP Rep. John Kasich will unseat Democratic Gov. Ted Strickland, the AP projects.

BooHooHooMan - 2 November 2010

Oh I delight in that.
Strickland that Third Way DLC Clintonite piece of shit.

15. marisacat - 2 November 2010

Quinn won for Gov in Ill… with .3 (so far 95+% in)

16. marisacat - 2 November 2010

Boxer 47. 2

Carly 47. 1

Republicans will run hard core anti abortion in Cali …. this is better than their wildest dreams.

I have to say that Carly became a very effective campaigner, face to face… something Meg never managed.

17. catnip - 2 November 2010

Sestak: “…sepulcher in the heart of the Pennsylvania”

catnip - 2 November 2010

Ha! Tweety finally found his movie analogy about Sestak: “Mr Smith doesn’t get to go to Washington”.

18. BooHooHooMan - 2 November 2010

The CA SoS site is getting crushed. I got in for a sec and Babs is 48 to Fiorina’s 46.somethin Carly. I went to refresh and got blown out again..

BooHooHooMan - 2 November 2010

Shiyaaat. I just got on again and Firina is UP.

Barbara Boxer (Dem) 1,120,135
Carly Fiorina (Rep) 1,165,935

BooHooHooMan - 2 November 2010

As of 9:22 PM Cali time…

ts - 2 November 2010

Most of rural CA has been counted. The Bay Area is still around 25-30%. I think Babs is gonna pull away by 4-5 points late. Probably why they called it.

marisacat - 2 November 2010

The Bay Area can swing a vote.

BooHooHooMan - 2 November 2010

I just got to the LA county part of it only 7 % from an hour and a half ago..with Babs raking it in so she survives…

One thing I notice on the CA SoS is that Jerry isn’t blowing out Ebay Meg tho….

marisacat - 2 November 2010

AP called it, with 17% in………..

Be interesting to watch. Carly is def a scrapper.

19. marisacat - 2 November 2010

Mammma mia… I HAD thought Boehner was a tougher nut.

via the Media blog at People Mag…

Boehner’s tears

House Speaker-to-be John Boehner teared up and could barely make it to the end of his speech as he talked about his own personal quest for the American dream.

“I started out mopping floors, waiting tables and tending bar at my dad’s tavern,” he said, his eyes welling. “I put myself through school working – school working every rotten job there was and every night shift I could find, as I poured my heart and soul into running a small business. When I saw how out of touch Washington had become with the core values of this great nation, I put my name forward and ran for office.”

His face crumpled as he went on to thank his family.

“Get used to those tears, folks,” Jake Tapper tweeted. “He’s a cryer.”

Kamala Harris (our DA running for state AG) is another… too tight for Gavin — SF mayor runnin gfor Lt Gov —maybe………..

24. marisacat - 2 November 2010

Hey hey.. princeling bestirs himself…

In the only action from the White House all evening, President Obama called John Boehner and the other leaders of Congress to talk about the election results.

He called Nancy Pelosi, Steny Hoyer and Mitch McConnell, too. “In his calls with Rep. Boehner and Sen. McConnell, the President said he was ‘looking forward to working with him and the Republicans to find common ground, move the country forward and get things done for the American people,’ ” the White House says.

catnip - 2 November 2010

Isn’t that the same thing he said in 2008? Maybe it was a robocall.

BooHooHooMan - 2 November 2010

Oh I’d LOVE to hear LaNan on THAT call.

marisacat - 2 November 2010

la Nan will be packing. It might be wrapped in Hermes silk, but she’s gunning.
Just my opinion…

25. BooHooHooMan - 2 November 2010

Larry O’Donnel : “This is a successful hanging on night for the Democrats”

Gene Robinson: “It could have been MUCH Bigger.”

Yeh, Gene, with a fuckin asteroid and an
Extinction Level Event involved.

marisacat - 2 November 2010

they are officially pathetic

ts - 2 November 2010

They could have lost all 535 seats, but they’ll just have to try again in two years.

ts - 2 November 2010

I looked up the worst losses ever: 71 in 1938, 55 in 1942 and 52 in 1994.

A solid #2 this year, GOP +56 with 55 seats still undecided.

catnip - 2 November 2010

Where’s my 52??

marisacat - 2 November 2010

There’s always HOPE.

Ho-o-o-o-ope. Hopium………………

26. catnip - 2 November 2010

Okay. Do the MSNBC pundits realize they’re still live on the teevee?

BooHooHooMan - 2 November 2010

Who knew you could train 5 chihuahuas to bark about Palin? Now they’re on to make merry about Alaska..

Seems to me the are avoiding WA…

catnip - 2 November 2010

They’re spinning tops – trying to figure out how all of this can help Obamalama in 2012. Yeah. Good luck.

27. catnip - 2 November 2010

CNN: Prop 19 defeated.

ts - 2 November 2010

Tim Lincecum’s series victory couldn’t carry them.

28. marisacat - 2 November 2010

Local CBS called AP to double check… “Hellooo this is San francisco calling… are you sure Boxer has won… ir is genuinely the projected winner???”

AP said yes.

HOWEVER, word is Babs will not give a speech til it “looks better”.

NOW CBS here is calling it “razor thin”.

I saw BB earlier today in Oakland (film).. and she was nervous.

29. lucid - 2 November 2010

Did any of you catch the craptastic piece Maddow opened with last night on the tremendous accomplishments of the 111th?

catnip - 2 November 2010

Not I. I’ve cut down on the puppet shows lately.

marisacat - 2 November 2010

I saw some of th text of it.

She does shows that are just cut and paste.

What a shame.

lucid - 2 November 2010

Yeah – when she actually does journalism, it’s often good… Unfortunately there’s been little of that since we hit campaign season.

ts - 2 November 2010

Their crowning achievement was tonight.

30. marisacat - 2 November 2010

Politico has a “Rise and Fall of Nancy Pelosi” up

“I’m trying to save the planet; I’m trying to save the planet,” Pelosi famously told POLITICO during an interview in July 2008, revealing an almost messianic belief in her own mission. “And when you win the election, you win the majority, and what is the power of the speaker? To set the agenda, the power of recognition, and I am not giving the gavel away to anyone.”

Yet in the end, Pelosi wasn’t even able to save her own job, and Republicans who replace her running the House have already vowed to undo her signature accomplishment of health care reform.

Pelosi was defiant into the final hours, telling reporters election night before the polls closed that “We’re on pace to maintain the majority in the House of Representatives.”

Conventional wisdom is that Pelosi would step down as speaker and retire from Congress in the near future, but she has yet to reveal her plans. If she does, it would end an extraordinary political career for a woman who got her first taste of politics stuffing envelopes in Little Italy when her father was mayor of Baltimore in the 1950s.

In the weeks leading up to Tuesday’s Democratic wipeout, the 70-year-old Pelosi insisted that she’d hold onto her gavel. ….

marisacat - 2 November 2010

“I think it’s going to take us a while to get beyond this,” said a House Democrat close to Pelosi. “10 years, maybe 20 years. I don’t know if we’ll get back the majority while I’m here.”

ts - 2 November 2010

They’re definitely going in the wrong direction fast. Amazing what they accomplished in two years.

31. catnip - 2 November 2010

WaPo has called it for Boxer too.

32. catnip - 2 November 2010

Now they’re talking about blubbering Boehner. Mon dieu.

33. marisacat - 2 November 2010

The Democrats are screwed… R picked up 8 governorships… and Dems lost 7.

BooHooHooMan - 2 November 2010

All the way dowwwwwn ballot, too.
Like what you see in Cali, what Madman said is going on, this is from the State House in PA…

• GOP wins largest majority in decades
The Republican wave washed over the state Capitol on Tuesday, likely giving the GOP the biggest majority it has had in the state House since the 1950s.

Barry is dead to the remnant Dem Congress Critters left to the mercies of GOP redistricting in the statehouses..

Not that any of it, our laughing-stock elections or these figureheads matter. The country is gangster state and the junta owns the media.
We have citizens who now happily carry multiple GPS tracking devices , all of us proles blithely pass by security cams a hundred times a day whether its from subway to stoplight to cubicle to restroom AND have webcams turned on in their homes. Which they purchased.

Now the irony is not lost on me that the old Bell switchboards are not so far removed from the DARPA developed ISP’s we all use now, but anyone thinking we da peeps are headed anywhere good are out of their fucking minds.

As our Wars and plunder carry on…

BooHooHooMan - 2 November 2010

35. ts - 2 November 2010

Write-ins winning AK senate. I assume that is Murkowski.

catnip - 2 November 2010

lucid - 2 November 2010

marisacat - 2 November 2010

BooHooHooMan - 2 November 2010

And knock that farmboy haircut off his head.

37. marisacat - 2 November 2010

DiFi is at boxer hq… shr says too close to call. they are holding tight.

my own opinion is that difi is for fiorino

ts - 2 November 2010

Oh, I agree. Babs is just a stockbroker. DiFi and Carly are in the CEO class, or at least married to them.

38. catnip - 2 November 2010

Wow. Depressing speech, Harry.

39. marisacat - 2 November 2010

If Barbara loses…. senate goes to 50/50.

Meg will not concede til 75% of the vote is in…

catnip - 2 November 2010

Jerry Brown is giving a very California speech. 😉

ts - 2 November 2010

Babs has jumped to +3.5% with 35% reporting. Murray has maintained 17k over Rossi with 61% reporting. Inouye is up 70/25 in Hawaii, though they haven’t called it yet.

I’m sticking to my earlier 5-6 seat call.

ts - 2 November 2010

Though Murkowski is a pro-choice Republican.

40. catnip - 2 November 2010

It’s way past Wolf Blitzer’s bed time.

Fiorina is giving her concession speech.

catnip - 2 November 2010

Oh – nope. She’s saying 36% has been counted and it’s a dead heat.

catnip - 2 November 2010

Meanwhile, Boxer’s claiming victory.

marisacat - 2 November 2010

she’s claiming to have pulled aheaed by several pts, even before “LA Co and Alameda Co”….

hmm we shall see.

I had to reboot so………. must catch up………………

BooHooHooMan - 2 November 2010

Now all I get from the Cali returns site is this:

“Fuck You, Inquiring Citizen.
Check Back Later, Asshole.”

A bit brusk, I must say.

BooHooHooMan - 2 November 2010

Oh the ole presumptive win speech…
No mention of a Fiorina concession..Hmmm.
Babs is saying how the media outlets projected her the winner.

marisacat - 2 November 2010

Politco has BB aheaad by 5, 200K in votes…

marisacat - 2 November 2010

I think the R are working in concert, no concession.

Which I have no problems with…

Looks like Jerry McNerney going down… in CA 11.

41. ts - 2 November 2010

This was pretty good: http://blogs.laweekly.com/informer/2010/11/surprise_rest_of_the_shoo-ins.php

The most bizarre and unsettling Democratic shoo-in of the 2010 election season is Jenny Oropeza (D), incumbent for the senatorial seat of the Long Beach area. She’s running against John S. Stammreich (R – no chance whatsoever). Thing is, Oropeza died of cancer two weeks ago.

It was close, though. She is only winning 53/41.

42. marisacat - 2 November 2010

Meg ascends to speak… and the music was very odd… to say the least.

Sort of Valhalla Crescendo.

She is conceding.

BooHooHooMan - 2 November 2010

😆 sort of Valhalla Crescendo

You go from the midnight Southern rockers next door the other week to this…

Hang Mcat till we can get reinforcements in!

BooHooHooMan - 2 November 2010

Hang ON Mcat!

marisacat - 3 November 2010

44. lucid - 2 November 2010

marisacat - 3 November 2010

45. BooHooHooMan - 3 November 2010

Hmm LAT walking back their lede a bit..

Boxer claims victory; Fiorina won’t concede

46. BooHooHooMan - 3 November 2010

MSNBC says Bennet won’t speak till morning, has gone to bed, literally..
And they say that WA Sen still has a million mail in votes that won’t be opened till later today.

Which make it perfectly obvious what this means:
Just not to me as usual. LOL.
But this needn’t interfere with my posturing.
…that it comes down to who is more likely to mail in and who was more effective at getting that done.. Yeh , I do a little football analysis now and then, too.

Now IF I had spidey senses, I’d bet mail-ins would tend to be weighted towards older exurban and corporate types..and if they are anything like similar voters we’ve seen in the East, that will favor the R…

marisacat - 3 November 2010

Washington, they only have to mail on election day. (I think)

47. BooHooHooMan - 3 November 2010

Now I’m not even making this up…

The Cali website has this rejection for me:

This website is temporarily unavailable.
Please check back later.
Unfortunately there were no suitable nodes available to serve this request.

Suitable/ Unsuitable – I Don’t Give Shit!
Give me a node, Goddamit! 😆

marisacat - 3 November 2010

Pete Wilson referred to the SoS site being down off and on all night.

A mess…. As I said a couple of the Dem favs went down or were in tight races…

BooHooHooMan - 3 November 2010

It’s all so Historic and Nodular now.

marisacat - 3 November 2010

NOW it really is post racial.

Tho of course we are STILL stuck in Reconstruction.

That one after the Civil War.

48. BooHooHooMan - 3 November 2010

Welp, I gotta get some sleep now that the people have spoken in the Greatest Democracy Evah and we move to the historic litigation and recrimination phase ®. LOL.

Mandrill ‘012!

49. marisacat - 3 November 2010

Hey hey???!!! Whatta about all the Green Jahbs they promised? Do we still NOT get those, as planned?
