Carneybarker WH presser: OBL wasn’t armed.

I think they’re backtracking now because they plan to release some video and know their lies will be clear once they do.

marisacat - 3 May 2011

I caught Pepe Escobar on Russia Today. He’s buying none of it. Eh. HE says no one has seen Osama in the flesh since some point early on in 2002. He disputes the vids that purport to be Osama, including the one released on the eve of 2004 pretzeldential election vote….

I am trying to pull myself togehter to go the hospital for blood draw (ugh), so later I will pull up Asia Times, see what he has posted this past month….

diane - 3 May 2011

In the wee US hours of the morning I caught a piece (non US media) questioning as to whether one of Osama’s body guards took him out, (I knew I should have saved that link), I see that theory sunk like a stone. ….Whatever happened, the $US$ will not allow the dialog that Shepicus didn’t perform a MAJOR KILL, and that Obama (a B for “Blessed” … an S for “Snake,” ….both products/tools of the same Machinery, both guilty of massive human misery, …..one really doesn’t need to have been physically killed to be living in unbearable misery, like so many in the US are now living in….), is Shepicus , ….for as long as the $US$ desires him to be Shepicus …………….. if Obama had been born in the Middle East, he might have taken that happy picture in front of that Pink Caddy as a yout’, and been the one presumed to be shark treat ……………………

diane - 3 May 2011

After all, at a time, now much forgotten (despite persons claiming otherwise), Osama was “our” Shepicus,…. in Afghanistan.

marisacat - 3 May 2011

Early on there was reporting, from a few venues, that it was “understood” that Osama (if he was even still alive!, I mean what DO we know?) had given instructions thru the years for his body guards to shoot him, lest he be taken alive, so it is a perfectly possible scenario.

Oh but Brennan said very clearly, it was US bullets what took the great big elephant down.

Etc.

Wait for the movie, being drawn up even as we scope out the world for whom should follow Qaddafi, now elevated to No Uno Big Bad Boy.

diane - 3 May 2011

yeah, that $US$/[$CHINESE$] $BULLETS& thang was a real gas, ….Helicopter Autopsy?

brinn - 3 May 2011

US bullets? Big fucking deal, we sell them everywhere (along with tear gas canisters made in the USA!), and a plethora of other killing devices hither yither and yon, the big surprise would be if he WASN’T killed by US bullets, regardless of who pulled the trigger, for fuck’s sake!

BooHooHooMan - 3 May 2011

Great point, brinn. 😉

brinn - 3 May 2011

Thanks! I thought so! 😉

diane - 3 May 2011

Pink Cadillac
Family affair: Osama Bin Laden (second from right) was identified with the help of DNA taken from the brain of an unidentified sister, who died from cancer

…looks like a really sweet young man …probably could have been. … REALLY, … fucking heart breaking….sigh, … is a, truly gross, understatement for that one.

marisacat - 3 May 2011

They also say they have DNA from several “relatives”. Hell he had 50 siblings. The ones counted and admittted to….

diane - 3 May 2011

I wouldn’t doubt that they have no DNA at all.

marisacat - 3 May 2011

well they claim they got a court order for the brain of the sister. That is trackable.. and it seems some media is interested in figuring this out.

9/11 families is one reason. This blows up, they will lead the charge.

diane - 3 May 2011

(there are two separate links above, Pink Cadillac, is the first link, sorry)

2. brinn - 3 May 2011

That is an AWSEOME pic!!

Really beautiful! Thanks for sharing that, Mcat!

brinn - 3 May 2011

Oh, and safe travels for the blood draw!! May you return home soonest and unscathed!

marisacat - 3 May 2011

Final stages…. going to propel myself out that door. [sigh]

diane - 3 May 2011

good luck honey, hope you get someone good with that draw. ;0(

marisacat - 3 May 2011

I did! And my favorite, Norman, very very young Chinese fellow, was nto there again… but this time I got someone good. Isidro. So now I have TWO names to ask for when I go.

Went like a breeze.

diane - 3 May 2011

wonderful honey! ;0)

brinn - 3 May 2011

Glad to hear!!

Madman in the Marketplace - 3 May 2011

yea!

marisacat - 3 May 2011

I thought it was kind of amazing.

3. marisacat - 3 May 2011

oh.. we will def be seein’ that photo. And more.

Teaser in the ABC email to hype the evening news:

9/11 Families Call for Osama Bin Laden’s Death Photo

White House mulling release of photo of bin Laden’s corpse. More >

911 families. They who must be obeyed.

brinn - 3 May 2011

Yeah, unless they’re saying something like “pay the first responders’ medical bills!” Then they can be ignored for quite a long time…

marisacat - 3 May 2011

oh yeah very tru. Although, iirc, they got 4 billion of the 6 billion they wanted.

In that last go round with Obster and congress, that was so highly politicised.

4. marisacat - 3 May 2011

So very troooo!

Obama’s re-election platform

I wrote this on Twitter/FB yesterday:

Obama’s re-election platform: I killed Bin Laden. I killed Bin Laden. On health? I killed Bin Laden. On education? I killed Bin Laden.

Posted by As’ad AbuKhalil at 8:22 AM

😆 Killa-in-chief (currently) of Gang USA!! USA!!

5. catnip - 3 May 2011

Obamalama’s going to ground zero on Thursday. (No doubt doing campaign pics.) Someone give that man a bullhorn!

catnip - 3 May 2011

Oh – and I just read he’s going to be on 60 Minutes on Sunday. Milk it for all it’s worth.

marisacat - 3 May 2011

He needs to ride the wave.

6. catnip - 3 May 2011
Madman in the Marketplace - 3 May 2011

good piece

7. Madman in the Marketplace - 3 May 2011

Greenwald:

Speaking of “frat boy reactions,” Leon Panetta is excitingly speculating about which actors should portray him in the movie about the Hunt for bin Laden, helpfully suggesting Al Pacino. It’s been a long time since Americans felt this good and strong about themselves — nothing like putting bullets in someone’s skull and dumping their corpse into an ocean to rejuvenate that can-do American sense of optimism.

Small, small people.

brinn - 3 May 2011

Our country is rub by and inhabited by a pack of psychopaths….this does not bode well for the rest of us.

8. diane - 3 May 2011

Despicable outlaw liars in DC:

“Enhanced interrogation techniques” were used to extract information that led to the mission’s success, Panetta said during an interview with anchor Brian Williams. Those techniques included waterboarding, he acknowledged.

Panetta, who in a 2009 CIA confirmation hearing declared “waterboarding is torture and it’s wrong,” said Tuesday that debate about its use will continue.

[link]

(bolding mine)

marisacat - 3 May 2011

Chrs Hedges has said the whole timeline negates this.

BTW, the Pakistanis are claiming they raided te same compound (or whatever that is, I think we are seeing multiple photographs of different sites, frankly) in 2003, when ti was still under construction. They felt at the time, they say!, that it was to be the residence for a senior AQ, tho not bin Laden.

Etc.

diane - 3 May 2011

yup, a stench to the entire thing, who knows what ‘happened,’ on the New, Revised! May Day or whether it was even bin Laden.

I know one thing that torture didn’t produce anything but misery and death, and, that they plan on using this pack of lies to continue with it.

(gotta run will check back)

9. marisacat - 3 May 2011
marisacat - 3 May 2011

AND…. it sure sounds like Osama was captured, pause, nearly a full-stop, and then killed.

diane - 3 May 2011

The link isn’t working hon, looks like the following is the link …..(and thanks! …makes a whole lot of sense to me):

Obama/Osama rock the casbah
By Pepe Escobar

What’s spookier is how the al-Qaeda narrative has been resuscitated as a specter hovering over the collective unconscious of the West. With the dangerous poetic metaphor of Bin Laden’s body now rockin’ an aquatic Casbah at the bottom of the Arabian Sea. The White House/Pentagon/CIA did not want a “shrine”; the shrine now happens to be diluted in waters patrolled by the US and not far from those shores where the House of Saud is conducting a harsh counter-revolution against the yearning for a better life.

It’s as if the carefully staged, too good to be true, non-martyrdom of bin Laden was in fact opening the doors to a new breed of hell – with Washington and the West betting on their self-fulfilling prophecy; al-Qaeda will react “with a vengeance” (American style?), there will be blood, a lot more blood, and the Arab world will revert to barbarism instead of dreaming of democracy, as in the crowd caught a whiff/of that crazy Casbah jive.

Welcome to the resurrection of al-Qaeda as a death blow to the great 2011 Arab revolt.

(bolding mine)

marisacat - 3 May 2011

😳

Sorry! I see my link failed. Big time!!

Yeah now that Pepe is no longer doing his 2008 soft shill for BabuBama, I can read him again.

diane - 3 May 2011

Glad I missed that soft shill (I’ve never read his articles), guess he gave up on the Obombster:

United States President Barack Obama may have turned the boogie sound on his 2012 re-election – bookmakers are giving him 1.75 – way beyond the reach of a circus freak show featuring specimens such as mama grizzly Sarah Palin and billionaire bully (with a fox in his head) Donald Trump.

But was it “justice” – as Obama claimed? Justice – up to the age of the drone – implied a crime scene, evidence, courts, due process, a jury, a judge and a sentence. Former President George “war on terror” W Bush, in his bluntness, was closer to the mark: this was more like “US revenge”.

marisacat - 3 May 2011

I make a wager he goes back to him. And he has been writing on that area, ME, Eurasia, oil and energy issues, for years, 10 or so that I have read him in Asia Times. I noticed he fed, in this piece anyway, this beloved TP of the US government that AQ Will Strike Back. Pfft. Who the hell knows.

I would suspect false flag first.

They all will (go back to Obslob).

Cockburn at Cpunch stayed vewy vewy quiet in 2008… LOL… he did scoop up a couple of juicy tids on McCain… but obviously had no interest in stuff covered by even as MSM as Chicago Trib and Boston Globe

Among so many others.

diane - 3 May 2011

Something about Cockburn’s style, no matter what he’s writing about, grates on my nerves.

marisacat - 3 May 2011

I go there for other writers..

diane - 3 May 2011

same here, there’s usually always something there that seems worth reading.

10. BooHooHooMan - 3 May 2011

The Pic (at moment of entering room)

in Morgue.

Definitely the eyes, IMO.

marisacat - 3 May 2011

oh man. The little legs all detached and all, like that.

Just heartbreaking. [sob]

BooHooHooMan - 3 May 2011

Not sure the public is ready and all.

marisacat - 3 May 2011

At least they dyed the blood pink.

BooHooHooMan - 3 May 2011

Jesus – It does look that way doesn’t it?

marisacat - 3 May 2011

Cotton Candy babeee!!

diane - 3 May 2011

I had my fingers ready over my eyes, remembering that hideous pic of Bloomberg you posted …. now I feel like an ass, …. yeah definitely a resemblance in those eyes.

11. marisacat - 3 May 2011

Sooooo relieved that Bush 2 will NOT permit Babu Ob to shill him out at Ground Zero

What a relief.

Pure is pure.

[snicker snax]

diane - 3 May 2011

I hope a large flock of well feed pigeons flies over all the frat boys in attendence.

diane - 3 May 2011

Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer

I go away for a week and when I come home I discover that NORAD has shot down Santa Claus.

His next piece is just great, beginning with , well, the beginning of the end to Burn After Reading..

… right on thru –

So the various images of Americans stomping on Osama photos and jiggling their American-flag-clad potbellies in general jubilation at the assassination of a semi-fictional character whose vague presence at the periphery of the memoir that is America’s autobiography signified nothing so much as a thin bravado spread haphazardly like a mat of dry sticks over a deep pit of fear and self-loathing are about as tawdry and embarrassing as anything I have ever seen, although it does make me proud to be a Pennsylvanian. While New York and Washington, America’s two most excruciatingly déclassés metropolises manifested their gross triumphalism for the cameras with all the dignity of a late-90s MTV spring-break special, NPR’s flumoxxed reporters wandered Shanksville searching vainly for a country jingo to express operatic delight at the dispatch of this latest Hitler among the Hitlers of our times. Unfortunately all they discovered were some terse nods and tentative questions: does this mean we can come home now? Quick cut to Washington. The answer: no. This morning various spokescreatures again reassured themselves that Our Commitment to Afghanistan will be generational, and officialdom is united in declaring that while the world is better, safer, greener, brighter, etc. in its post-bin Laden epoch, these are merely, uh, um, subjective, poetical judgements, and by any qualitative analysis the world is neither better nor safer nor greener nor brighter nor et cetera; his death, in other words, meant everything and nothing, the sort of weirdly simultaneous actuality and non-being that appeals to Pentagon officials, defense contractors, and medieval scholastics and just about no one else.

marisacat - 4 May 2011

We’re in it to our eyebrows and sinking fast.

13. catnip - 4 May 2011

lol…from someone on FB:

Hello everyone. In the aftermath of Osama bin Laden’s death, I felt so proud to be an American that I actually killed a grizzly bear with my bare hands earlier today. I dumped his dead body into the ocean and didn’t take any pictures, so you all will just have to take my word for it…

marisacat - 4 May 2011

LOL

Obama is said to be leaning against releasing the pics. But I noticed that David Martin of CBS who covers the DoD and Pentagon, said, very hard not to… becomes part of HISTORY. The HISTORICAL need to record.

Poor Ob. So many decisions. So HISTORIC.

lucid - 4 May 2011

I believe it was Ed Shultz who blathered last night that ‘this was the greatest US victory since World War II’. I’m glad I was in the other room cooking dinner or I would have thrown something at the TV.

marisacat - 4 May 2011

Babu Bama is not going to release the photos. So says NBC.

😆 at some point it is all you can do.

🙄

marisacat - 4 May 2011

Good luck Slobster.

Breaking News from ABCNEWS.com:

President Obama Decides Not to Release Osama Bin Laden Death Photos, ABC News Has Learned [1:35 p.m. ET]

😆 Let the last word be that, according to us the most crazed people on the plant, Osama had pot plants on his premises. The legal boundaries of which, we say, outlined the shape of Israel.

TURN OUT THE LIGHTS.

catnip - 4 May 2011

Sure. Just like he wasn’t ever going to release his long-form birth certificate. He’ll release OBL pics eventually – or there will be a convenient “leak”.

marisacat - 4 May 2011

Release of the long form after so many “stories” about it, even that Hawai’i had gone to the short form only and had, in fact, DESTROYED the old long forms in archives.

I mean, the WH and obama his spokespeople here and in Hawai’i told it every way possible.

But then… suddenly… as it ramps up and threatens to actually damage his Re elect plans… or maybe even just the fundraising for, whammo.

Does he think saying there is no need to release it will work. It won’t…

🙄

catnip - 4 May 2011

He caves. That’s what he does. Why would anyone believe that he’ll stick to his word anymore? It wouldn’t surprise me if it “leaked” at some consequential moment during the campaign when he needs a ratings boost – as you point out.

BooHooHooMan - 4 May 2011

Carney up. (The guy) (The Press Secretary)

BooHooHooMan - 4 May 2011

Delicious irony.

BooHooHooMan - 4 May 2011

Delicious irony – Mcat’s comment on how President Historical Historiciness is bumping up against the demands of documentation.

marisacat - 4 May 2011

oh yeah the arc of this is going to be entertaining.

Popcorn, sunglasses, tropical tanning oil, Gin Fizzes, finger food.

COMMENCE with the fire fight.

Muslim ‘sensitivities’ trump transparency?

Sncker.

14. catnip - 4 May 2011

It’s the daily Carneybarker show at the WH.

15. lucid - 4 May 2011

Totally OT… What’s the deal with Israel Shamir? I saw a rather interesting article by him on Counterpunch today and checked out is site only to find stuff on the ‘readers’ page that had actually been originally published on a white supremacist site. WTF?

marisacat - 4 May 2011

he is a realy strange mix. I am all for publishing him, not censoring, but let’s be given the WHOLE picture.

A Russian that emigrated to Israel (I get the impression it was go anywhere and being Jewish, Israel took him in, no questions) THEN he decides he hates Israel. Which sounds like a sane reaction UNTIL you start reading how he Loves the Catholic Church. And whoever is Pope. The finest of the fine. The Catollicas are the answer to everything. (Maybe he wants Vatican City citizenship, what do I know?)

Etc.

IMO Cpunch is allowing him to craft a narrow public persona…. Hoover Hog at least links to the full site.. and I trolled thru it a few years ago. Loads of interesting contrarian tidbits…. but a ton of sludge too.

marisacat - 4 May 2011

I see the piece by Shamir…. hmmm. It leads off today at Cpunch http://counterpunch.org/

I read this am a class picked Abottobad years ago, as the most likely hideout for Osama. I mean, if you assume Jesus was a virgin birth, etc… then of course you can believe in Osama. AND O B A M A.

lucid - 4 May 2011

The thing that set off alarm bells was written by a catholic… go figure.

marisacat - 4 May 2011

An extreme nutter Catholic with massive massive conflicted realities.

16. BooHooHooMan - 4 May 2011

Ooo!

Why is the President not speaking at Ground Zero?

Admin: Uhm, cuz, like, We only need a PHOTO now??!?

marisacat - 4 May 2011

Don’t they need to winnow the invite list now? ONLY 9/11 families that support wthholding the photo…

BooHooHooMan - 4 May 2011

HAHAHAHA! 😆

Drolllll. VERY Droll. Oh too funny. 😆

17. BooHooHooMan - 4 May 2011

Dyed pink blood in the water now.

CHUCK TODD, Chuck fuckin TODD fer Chrissakes can’t even get past the incredulity of it all. I mean he looks like the very last stuck stoner in the stadium hot dog racket. All like You expect me to sell this shit?!

marisacat - 4 May 2011

I know, one thing that rang loud and clear… Obby just lost a lotta people.

KGO has gotten increasingly shrill the past three days defending Wobbler. Always a sign.

18. lucid - 4 May 2011

Oh lulz! Oh don’t even need to get past the title to roll your eyes.

marisacat - 4 May 2011

His numbers on the economy are still falling however, in polling after Sunday.

Like George The First. Well, that and… throwing up in the Japanese PM’s lap did not help either.

😆

marisacat - 4 May 2011

Th Times of India is laughing at us. With reason…

[O]sama bin Laden was unarmed when US Navy Seals cornered him in a bedroom in a Pakistani mansion. His youngest wife rushed the commandos even as they shot him, blowing out one side of his face and his chest with two bullets. His 12-year old daughter saw him being killed. With 500 Euros and two telephone numbers sewn into his clothes, he seemed ready to run.

Sounds more like a page out of a Bollywood melodrama. …

19. catnip - 4 May 2011

It’s one big game, apparently:

Obama revealed his decision to CBS News in an interview taped Wednesday with the current affairs program 60 Minutes.

“It is very important for us to make sure that very graphic photos of somebody that was shot in the head are not floating around as an incitement to additional violence or as a propaganda tool. That’s not who we are. We don’t trot this stuff out as trophies,” Obama said, according to an interview transcript.

“The fact of the matter is this was somebody who was deserving of the justice that he received, and I think Americans and people around the world are glad that he is gone. But we don’t need to spike the football.”

catnip - 4 May 2011

The president’s decision comes just hours after CIA Director Leon Panetta told U.S. media it was likely the photos would be released at some time. “I just think it’s important, they know we have it, to release it,” Panetta said.

Leon wanted to shake his booty in a little end zone boogie.

marisacat - 4 May 2011

Then it comes out BabuBama made the decision, at the taping for 60 Minutes. Jsut did not mention it to Panetta.

😆

diane - 4 May 2011

pooooor Leon …wanted to do the Dougie with Mickey, maybe? …. Who would want you [leon] …. you’re just an [extremely helpful] orphan … … DIFI and DICK don’t even care for you.

(paraphrase? or quote, from an animated cartoon I watched once, which stuck with me, though I can’t remember the title of it.)

20. marisacat - 4 May 2011

New:

LINK

………….. 😯

21. BooHooHooMan - 4 May 2011

So we had Martin King bleeding from head wound on the balcony of the Lorraine Hotel, RFK on kitchen floor of the Ambassador Hotel, the autopsy of Malcom X, the JFK kill shot footage of the Zapruder film, presidential autopsy photos as well.

::

And, to the matter apparent or not so apparent at hand: We saw Fallin Man, people roasted alive in the death throes of the World Trade Center…

But, no picture of Osama Bin Laden.

In THE Nation that supposedly can bear any burden, pay any price…

::

marisacat - 4 May 2011

Oh yeah… it is glaring.

One caller to KGO made that point, that the pols love to haul out the Burning Towers… and so on. But NOW we are children.

Tho I do believe quite quickly photos of people falling were all but banned. And I was glad that ‘falling man’ was written about and in a sense eulogised in the ratty old New Republic. Just glad to see it…
