Telegraph reader Michael Cookson sent us this fantastic photo, saying this is 'a red deer known locally as Bin Laden. He got his name when one year he was injured in the rutting season and the local villagers looked after his wounds and fed him tidbits. After that he lived in the hills and came down to the village for food and attention. In this picture he is in Sheena's Tea Hut which is in the village of Corran on Loch Hourn in the West Highlands.' If you have a photograph you'd like us to consider for a picture gallery, please email it to mypic@telegraph.co.uk, supplying a little info on where and how the picture was taken.

“More Nuanced”. “Differentiated” Ah yes –
Can’t you just feel the ole Hope For Change You Can Belive In ~gurgle~gurgle~gurgle???

US ‘should stay’ in Afghanistan past 2014

A leading think-tank with ties to the Obama Administration says more than 25,000 troops should remain past 2014.

With public and Congressional debate heating up over post-bin Laden US policy in South Asia, a think tank with close ties to the administration of President Barack Obama is calling for a strategy that will keep Washington deeply engaged in the region for a long time to come.

In a 40-page report released on Wednesday, the Center for a New American Security (CNAS) {AKA – WAR SHILLS Inc. – BHHM} said Washington should negotiate a long-term strategic partnership agreement with Afghanistan that would keep 25,000 to 35,000 US troops in that country well beyond the 2014 date which the US and its allies have set for withdrawal.

It also calls for a “more nuanced” policy 😆 😆 😆 towards Pakistan designed to strengthen those state actors that cooperate with US security interests there and punish those that do not, notably military and intelligence officials or sectors suspected of supporting or otherwise cooperating with terrorist groups, notably al-Qaeda, Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT, and the Pakistani Taliban, Tehrik-i-Taliban).

“As part of a differentiated approach toward Pakistan, the United States should explore using targeted financial pressure against individuals and organisations in Pakistan with links to trans- national terrorism and insurgency in the region,” the report said.

The report, Beyond Afghanistan: A Regional Security Strategy for South and Central Asia also called for Washington to quietly broker {BULLSHIT BUZZWORD ALERT! BUT! At least they Recycle! -BHHM} confidence-building measures between India and Pakistan, deepen its partnership with New Delhi, promote economic growth by backing open trade and transit throughout the region, and develop a “strategic public engagement plan” aimed at reversing “growing tide of anti-American sentiment,” especially in Pakistan.

The report, which was one year in preparation, comes at a critical moment {In squirming thru an Election Year! -BHHM} in the debate over future US policy toward Afghanistan and Pakistan in the aftermath of the killing earlier this month by US Special Forces of al-Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden at a compound where he had reportedly been living for some six years in Abbottabad, Pakistan.

Obama had promised ❗ 18 months ago to begin drawing down the 100,000 US troops currently deployed to Afghanistan this July, and bin Laden’s demise has reignited a debate within his administration over the pace and size of that withdrawal.

I heard a campaign slogan last night for Slobama, for 2012:

All the Bush Policies but half as evil!!!

There were quite a few others, all irreverent as hell. I laughed myself silly…. not that it will make any difference.

Lordy… taking a break from a movie I am watching and dropped in for min or two to the memorial day extrvaganza in front of the capitol.

More fascistic than ever. Total 911 overlay, gag level.

All the years to come will be borrring. And long.

Joe Mantegna and Gary Sinise officiating.

Not enough in-flight barf bags for this one.

3. marisacat - 29 May 2011

hmm the rictus imperialis at the Capitol has descended further.

I drifted back thru… BB King looking in need of a graveyard (and a grave to fall into) croaking out, Let’s Get Together and Bring Peace to the World with a listless audience – some in military drag swinging to the mess of it all.

Colin Powell, Mullen and I think Steny Hoyer in a line, clapping.

More croaking from BB King.

Someone finish us off.

The EU is rushing to draft a second Greek bailout – this one whether the Greeks want it or not:

EU officials said a new 65 billion euro package could involve a mixture of collateralized loans from the EU and IMF, and additional revenue measures, with unprecedented intrusive external supervision of Greece’s privatisation program. “It would require collateral for new loans and EU technical assistance — EU involvement in the privatisation process,” one senior EU official said, speaking on condition of anonymity.

Greece’s conservative opposition meanwhile demanded lower taxes as a condition for reaching a political consensus with the Socialist government on further austerity measures, which Brussels says is needed to secure any further assistance.

Yet another “socialist” government that is in bed with the bankers.

marisacat - 30 May 2011

with unprecedented intrusive external supervision of Greece’s privatisation program

I read somewher or other, that the supervision is invasive enough to be, essentially, a loss of sovereignty…

This was actually written by a grown man….
(Clue: That time of year again.)

{Clippy-Snip McDrippy}

::
But the real thrill was simply being with others who were bloggers/activists. There was Heather Parton – Digby. I got to meet DevilsTower – Mark Sumner. I have a picture from Vegas with Hunter and MC Joan.
{:lol: Should be worth a FORTUNE…SOMEDAY!™ -BHHM}

I went to a late night dinner at the Bellagio with emptywhell – Marci Wheeler – and among the others at that table were Jane Hamsher, Glenn Greenwald, and others.

But the real fun was simply getting to know people. Some of that came through my participation in the Sunday worship services – my friends from those include Pastor Dan, Blue Jersey Mom, Timroff, Jnhobbs, Virgo Music, Brillig, and others.

Perhaps it was putting together the goodie bags, getting to know Chun Yang and her son.

Or it was packing boxes for Netroots for the Troops – there were Meteor Blades and I in Pittsburgh, two aging hippies were are anti-war, but viewed what we were doing as an important commitment to those who serve, because we are not anti-troop.

Who is a teacher.
But the real thrill! … But the real fun!
How about the real fuckin BOOB? Good Lord, LOLZ.

And those two anti-war hippies, teacherken and Meathead Whatsisname, packing off supplies for the FRONTS.

BooHooHooMan - 30 May 2011

What is this imaginary “activism” these imaginary blog celebs imaginatively speak of?
..uh course™,
nothin says Anti~War like a weirdo treat bag via a goofball blogger convention to break up the monotony of marauding, mayhem, and murder on behalf of the Empire.

BooHooHooMan - 30 May 2011

Maybe they can pack off some more Body Armor and 14-inch thick steel plate.

marisacat - 30 May 2011

That was one of the things that first made me think, who are these people? Because in my view, they are self serving high chair residents. Spoon fed pabulum.

And so on.

I remember one time at kid oakland’s blog an actual long time East Bay oakland activist stopped by in comments. I bet all this ”activism” shit had festered with him… he politely asked kid o what he had done, in particular. The commenter mentioned quite a few actions, activities, races, etc that he had been involved in, wtih enough detail that it was unlikely he was lying. He mentioned, maybe we have worked ont he same issues, actions….

Kid o – I guess gulping audibly, was reduced to saying he had worked on some in home parties, as an attendee, where people called prospective voters.

Thud.

I’ve paid attention all my life, but I am not an activist… and I sure would never use the word.

BooHooHooMan - 30 May 2011

LOL. Indeed. They’re nothing of substance.

For it was…. NOT written:
The time will come when legions of hard core street activists shall spring forth from ye blue-balled loins and come to partake of the flowing chocolate fondue at a Vegas reception thrown by Mark Warner.
And the lions will lay down with the Big Dawg.
Over a nice lunch, ye know, at the Clinton
sub-let up in Harlem.

😆 😉

marisacat - 30 May 2011

Yeah I really laughed at kid o. INDOOR work. At a partay. A few partays. Finger food and a glass of vino I bet…

I mean, not even tabling in the cold, outside a safeway. (Where of course one might be … like, you know, SHOT)

😆

Scream with laughter!!!

marisacat - 30 May 2011

oh teacherken is just an operative imo. Pedantic as well………….

He’s posted pics of himself in the halls of congress…. I think he is like a mini Informed Consent – Cole type.

Such old harridans, writing “what I did in my summer vacation” crap for the over 49.

Waste of flesh and bone, as I see it.

BooHooHooMan - 30 May 2011

LOL Good Lord, -> I <- think he's he's pedantic!
😆

ts - 30 May 2011

I’m glad I never head over to the Big Orange Leg Humping Express, reading more than one post like that would melt my brain.

marisacat - 30 May 2011

BOLHE

I like that… 😉

6. diane - 30 May 2011

Had the opportunity to listen to KGO’s Only Liberal, what a relief from the normal pedant (speaking of them) finger wagging. Wish she was on earlier, and during the weekdays. For the little I listened early Saturday, re Gaza, I thought she skillfully handled the pro Zionist bullying well, especially the younger, second caller.

Thanks Marisa!

marisacat - 30 May 2011

I like her quite a bit… and we have beaten up a sort of email back and forth.

I htought she was good on Gaza and the flotillas… I wish the flotilla people, themselves, had been better. But, take what one can….

I am not … taken in, I guess would be the best phrase… I know KGO has to broaden their listener base, I think even they know they are loaded with aging pro Israel fuddy duddies…… and one way is to have one or two more liberal voices… and I know as we get closer to election, she wil hew to the orthodoxy and exhort the vote for BamSlam… but c’est la vie….

She was on this am from 9 – 12 filling in for the anchor, highly paid morning guy. Who is a tired old Jewish shit, out of Brooklyn… well versed in being a Cali transplant. Well versed in being a conservative propagandist in fake liberal clothing… Putting her on am, whcih they have done a few times, tells me her phone lines, even at night on the weekends are B U S Y… for which I am thankful.

the other slot you might enjoy is Karel… who is on weekends 7 PM 10 PM… He has done several hours this weekend slamming Obbie.. and apparnelty gotten hate mail, email… LOL.. what a hoot.

diane - 30 May 2011

Thanks hon, will check out Karel, I really miss being able to listen to the radio, or watch the tube occasionally, without finding it necessary to make sure I’ve got the remote in hand to shut it off in disgust at unrelenting messages of “necessary” punitive action and brutality; and the glorification of predatory behavior and technologies.

marisacat - 30 May 2011

He can be quite manic, so if it gets to you, just check back with him at another time. He is concentrating a lot on social services, health care, costs of services, what is offered, what really exists when you go line up for it… what is being taken away… and slamming Obster.

He too will come to the fold, and still inserts it.. but I will take it for the information…

He did an HYSTERICAL hour on Saturday of Obama 2012 slogans. Oh I laughed so hard, I enjoyed it.

Very irreverent.

One was:

We’ve gone black! We can’t go back!

and

Yes We Can! But We Won’t!

Yes We Can… and maybe we will.

On and on, oh it was hilarious.

diane - 30 May 2011

With that description, I think I’ve heard him before, and yeah he did get on the nerves, but I’d put up with it to at least hear some truth inbetween the lines.

marisacat - 30 May 2011

well being manic, he goes up and down… just 😆 adjust accordingly…

7. Madman in the Marketplace - 30 May 2011

I just thought I’d wave hi to everybody. I checked out for a much-needed week of R&R and pretty much quit reading the nooz. Back to the rat race this week!

marisacat - 30 May 2011

Glad you had a wonderful break!

(Glad you are back too… 😉 )

Madman in the Marketplace - 30 May 2011

thanks! I missed you guys!

8. diane - 30 May 2011

of course it was:

dancing quietly at the memorial was an illegal demonstration and not an expression of free speech.

as the US appears to be heading towards outdoing, even, Nazi Germany at it’s foggy beginnings, …just before the blatant ovens…

Madman in the Marketplace - 30 May 2011

interesting that ABC doesn’t link directly to the You Tube video, where it is plain that it doesn’t “appear” that he’s being choked, but that he clearly is. The video is embedded here: Body slammed and choked by cops for dancing at Jefferson Memoria

diane - 30 May 2011

yeah, it is pretty interesting, ….especially since they make such heavy use of videos …. otherwise.

diane - 30 May 2011

well…oopsie fuckin doopsie! …the second blockquote, was my rambling. Of Course,… ABC NOOOZ,…is way tooo “refined” (and OWNED), to blurt out any such thang.

diane - 30 May 2011

(thanks for the correction, hon!)

9. Madman in the Marketplace - 30 May 2011

AL Mayor: No FEMA Trailers Allowed For Tornado Victims

Scott has heard all the complaints, and he isn’t apologizing. He said he doesn’t want run-down mobile homes parked all over town years from now.

marisacat - 30 May 2011

I htink that is what they plan for Joplin too… and other places.

I got a real [twisted] laugh out of listening to ObRama in Joplin. Good luck to everyone! Rely on the churches. Be happy!!

Etc.

diane - 30 May 2011

I have to say that the “Public Servants” running things – Localwise, Statewise, and Federalwise, must be pretty formidablly armed, to the fuckin teeth – to have not heard yet, of a successful headshot to the rotted brain …not at all advocating it, I won’t be the one, ….but, it almost seems like the odds are against their luck so far.

marisacat - 30 May 2011

They did not get a lot of play but St Gabby definitely had done her share of campaign showing off with big guns… Pics of her aiming and displaying.

And it’s come out over the years that DiFi has a conceal carry permit. One of the very very few in SF, they are impossible to get … and Carly Fiorina and her husband both have conceal carry permits.

Aside from all the security they have access to ….

diane - 30 May 2011

yup, Locked and Loaded, …along with their security. …Gun Sights,…are on that Public …which they claim to serve…… Mostly, because they realize they are not actualy serving that “Public,”,…and…. because they know: how small, petty, vengeful,… and murderous, they themselves are,….so they arm themselves to the fuckin teeth.

marisacat - 30 May 2011

Oh it think it is a lot simpler. They run things and they know it, everyone else, out there in the dark, is the enemy. About to come over the fence any minute.

period.

diane - 30 May 2011

Well, …..I may have been boringly verbose..but I thought my meanderings made some kinda “simple” sense? …..anywho,…YEAH, ……Duck Ya’ll …DUCK! ….the fuckers are on a rampage.

;0(

marisacat - 30 May 2011

I don’t think they concern themselves at all with their pettiness or cruelty or any of the rest of it. Nor do they feel vulnerable for any of that…

DIFi can be quite nasty about the electorate when she is caught off guard. And she certainly enjoys the spot she has in life.

As do all the rest of the third rate barkers and bouncers, cons and thieves in the political class.

diane - 30 May 2011

Oh, ..I’m not saying they concern themselves with their ugliness and cruelty, I’m just saying they’re fully aware of the potential response it might bring.

As to how vulnerable they feel to the consequences of their hideousity,…I tend to think they might occasionally worry about being out in public.
