He might want to rethink that.

Over in the East Bay, by a margin of 2 votes (3 recounts) a town elected a black super xtian local RE atty mayor a few years ago. He told the NYT that Vallejo was a “City of God” (and that he hated gays, which I gather was a component of the campaign, even) …. caused a BIG flap….

By two years later Vallejo had officially legally declared bankruptcy, and I just read that unlike most of the nation, crime is up 40% there….

So…………. City of God? Doesn’t help, it looks like.

Madman in the Marketplace - 9 June 2011

or Gawd embezzled all the city’s funds once He had the keys …

marisacat - 9 June 2011

yeah be careful about giving Gawd a big high five.

Democracy Now! had on a couple of activists on the state of the fall out, Fukushima…

[A]MY GOODMAN: And a new study is being done by the prefecture, Aileen?

AILEEN MIOKO SMITH: Yes, we’re very concerned that a health study is starting at the end of this month. This is concerning the effects of the Fukushima residents, on the prefectural citizens. It’s headed by a Dr. Shunichi Yamashita, who’s at the Atomic Bomb Research Institute. He’s the radiological health safety risk management adviser for the prefecture. He’s widely shown on national TV. He speaks widely in the prefecture, always saying there’s absolutely no concern with the levels of radiation in Fukushima. He says that mothers, even mothers exposed to 100 millisieverts, pregnant mothers, will not have any effect, health effect. Remember the number 100. Compared to that, the Soviet Union required a mandatory evacuation during Chernobyl at five millisieverts.

And this mindblowing quote… The lying is so very great it manages to stun, every time.

This doctor is quoted as saying,

“The effects of radiation do not come to people that are happy and laughing. They come to people that are weak-spirited, that brood and fret.”

This is a direct quote. And he’s heading the study. And so, the citizens in Fukushima are very concerned. . . . .

diane - 10 June 2011

He should be behind bars.

Reminds me, on a far more targeted level, of the Action for Happiness, in the UK: Happiness: When smiling becomes policy – More and more politicians are adopting the infant discipline of happiness economics – but they may face painful questions, and Mickey’s My Plate, ‘nutrition’ and BabyFat Ban movement here..

Pretty evil if ya ask me, horrid enough that people will be dieing in misery due to the malfeasance and insatiable greed of the Powers That Be, let alone implying they’re unbalanced if they’re not giggling about it.

This as well at Cpunch… I am not finished reading it…. in the middle of it.

A 35% Spike in Infant Mortality in Northwest Cities Since Meltdown

Is the Dramatic Increase in Baby Deaths in the US a Result of Fukushima Fallout?

marisacat - 10 June 2011

Here is a snippet of the information that the article is built on…

[T]he recent CDC Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report indicates that eight cities in the northwest U.S. (Boise ID, Seattle WA, Portland OR, plus the northern California cities of Santa Cruz, Sacramento, San Francisco, San Jose, and Berkeley) reported the following data on deaths among those younger than one year of age:

4 weeks ending March 19, 2011 – 37 deaths (avg. 9.25 per week)

10 weeks ending May 28, 2011 – 125 deaths (avg.12.50 per week)

This amounts to an increase of 35% (the total for the entire U.S. rose about 2.3%), and is statistically significant. Of further significance is that those dates include the four weeks before and the ten weeks after the Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant disaster. . . . .

….the twisted ‘fruits’ of a culture of Death …

diane - 10 June 2011

Speaking of twisted, just checked out Madman’s Wonkette/Rick Perry link above, about Rick Perry: holding a day of fasting and prayer called “The Response” for austerity and misery ….he, no doubt, …. aided and abbetted ….and has made a great deal of money off of. Diseased fucks running things……………..

marisacat - 10 June 2011

I’m thinking Texas should prepare for locust swarms

diane - 10 June 2011

But, before they do that, they should probably make a citizen’s arrest, ….tar and feather Rick (DickMAN) Perry, ….then do one of those dunking in the lake things, strapped into a chair ….if he’s good he lives ….if he’s bad …he DIES ….I’m positive he’d be okay with that, since he’s such a man of God ‘n all…….

marisacat - 10 June 2011

OR, 😆 they could just send him back to the Dem party, from whence he came.

diane - 10 June 2011

Matter of fact, I’m pretty sure all of our $GOD$ believing Public Servants, Rethugs,…and Demorats, feel secure enough in their serving of their Public (well okay, …. Weiner, and all the Frat boyz: Their Pubic), that they would be more than happy to do so, also.

diane - 10 June 2011

hadn’t known that, ….priceless! :0( ….:0) ….;0) …….makes sense to me, as much as Rendell, et al’s, … switch to DemRat, if I’m not mistaken ….

marisacat - 10 June 2011

I think quite a few become whatever works in whatever district they target.

was in response to your Master/Mister. Goodhair comment, brinn, …..:0)

(gotta run hon….;0) )

brinn - 10 June 2011

Yes, Goodhair’s day of non-denominational Christian prayer….I’m thinking that gonna work out as well for him as his 3 day “pray for rain” BS last month…

Though Texas in August, there could be a hurricane, a few tornadoes, huge wildfires, massive flooding or all of the above…

He is such a worthless piece of crap — he’s giving 25 million to Formula 1 to come build a racetrack here in Austin…yeah, that’s WAAAAY better than funding schools or social services…

oh, and we get yearly locust swarms, Perry notwithstanding…

brinn - 10 June 2011

er, I think my reply is not in the right place, but oh, well!

diane - 10 June 2011

you hold the fucker down honey, and I’ll apply the tar …got the feathers? …I’ll get to work on that strapped DROWNING chair…or maybe you want to apply that merciless hot goo to the fucker? …the fuckers!

marisacat - 10 June 2011

He really is awful.

Madman in the Marketplace - 10 June 2011

4. marisacat - 10 June 2011

[I]n this context, since the International Criminal Court’s record of ductility to NATO’s requirements is one of near 100 per cent compliance one can view with reasonable cynicism its timing in issuing accusations of mass Viagra-assisted rape against Qaddafi’s militias immediately in the wake of NATO bombing onslaughts on Tripoli on Tuesday. On the issue of systematic mass rapes, Amnesty International said on Thursday that its researchers in eastern Libya, Misurata and in refugee camps along the Tunisian border, “have not to date turned up significant hard evidence to support this allegation.”

A hundred years down the road the UN/NATO Libyan intervention will be seen as an old-fashioned colonial smash-and-grab affair. There may even be a paragraph or two about the collapse of the U.S. left, in mounting any powerful show of protest. . . . . .

Cockburn in Cpunch

diane - 10 June 2011

“have not to date turned up significant hard evidence to support this allegation.”

makes sense to me, from a perspective of living in a country where psychic rape and violation, is LAUDED, as a way of progressing in life, and certainly does not discriminate as to gender;…yet, a diseased country, is so very quick to point out its targets as to their comparably minor (in the long term ‘picture’) transgressions, can’t imagine why, ….snerk.

diane - 10 June 2011

to qualify,…not to say that this country does not also have an out and out attack on anyone of a feminine …persuasion, ….just to say, that the powers that be, which are running this country, will violate any living being[s] they can get their nasty hands on, if it suits their insatiable, devouring hunger.

Madman in the Marketplace - 10 June 2011

Maybe the evidence wasn’t hard because they hadn’t taken the pills yet?

marisacat - 10 June 2011

There’s that……….

5. brinn - 10 June 2011

Boy the elder got a haircut today….he got it cut about shoulder length, but still had 10 inches to donate to “Locks of Love” — he looks great, haven’t seen so much of his face for a while! 😉

He immediately put a beanie on it….methinks it was all about the beanie! As I’ve always told him: it’s your head, as long as you take care of it, I’m fine with whatever it looks like!

Hope ya’ll have a great weekend!

PS Is catnip ok? I haven’t seen any posts here from her lately…

marisacat - 10 June 2011

I sent her an email today, she seems fine, waiting for the landlord to do some garden work so she can put in her vegetables…

brinn - 11 June 2011

Oh, that’s good to know, Marisa! Next time you email her, tell her I say “hi”!

Madman in the Marketplace - 10 June 2011

that is such a nice org … I’ve donated a couple of ponytails over the years.

diane - 10 June 2011

Sounds like your son is a great kid (with a great head of hair too!), what a nice thing to do. Have a wonderful weekend yourself!

Want More Wire? End the Drug War

Earlier this month, Attorney General Eric Holder bemoaned the end of The Wire while sitting on a panel with cast members from the show. He even gave a direct shout out to the show’s creators, “I want another season or I want a movie. I have a lot of power, Mr. Burns and Mr. Simon.” Finally, someone using political power for good in the Weinergate era.

David Simon responded, “The Attorney-General’s kind remarks are noted and appreciated.” That sounds promising. “I’ve spoken to Ed Burns and we are prepared to go to work on season six of The Wire.” YES. YES!!! “…if the Department of Justice is equally ready to reconsider and address its continuing prosecution of our misguided, destructive and dehumanising drug prohibition.” Oh. Right.

marisacat - 10 June 2011

Holder = Measely prick.

Madman in the Marketplace - 10 June 2011

I love that Simon took the opportunity to call him on it.

marisacat - 10 June 2011

8. diane - 10 June 2011

I’m bleakly amused at the Weiner Defender, resounding cries of prude, and he must not give up the race, from libruls.

Guess that makes me a prude, cause I’m certain if some male sent me a totally out of context, unsolicited dick shot, I wouldn’t want him as a neighbor, let alone vote for him. And if he caught me on a bad day, I might even call the cops.

I actually think the electorate has a right to know that someone they elect to make decisions for them, is a creep who doesn’t respect personal boundaries, and doesn’t understand what the word nonconsentual really means.

Of course, if that had been a woman sending vulva pics, she’d likely be talked into being doped up on pyschotropics, in rehab, as we speak. Not that I would vote for her, either.

marisacat - 10 June 2011

I think it was all consensual, from what I have read. And certainly not illegal (tho a 17 year old admitting, I guess so far, to nothing randy has surfaced)

The person who seems mad, and it sounds like with reason, is his old girlfriend, who talked to him as this hit…. He convinced her he was innocent… and she defended him publicaly based on that. She has turned and turned hard.

He and Amadin are not innocents… apparenlty their daily calls are strategy on hwo to save his job and in a few corners it has come out they sought release of her pregnancy news as spin.

I think the extremely dirty little secret on The Hill is HOW MUCH TIME is spent like this by some members. Others go shopping and get their hair done. Others, most all, count the dirty money.

I think work comes last.

My big thing for years is GET OVER IT, stop whining… this is our political system. If they can hang a naked dancing girl (and she is 15!, even better) at the front door of the “full frontal political take down” (as I call these things) they will do it.

I think the take down is bi partisan. Looks that way to me.

diane - 10 June 2011

I was referring to the young woman who has stated that the dick shot was totally out of context, and unexpected (probably the seventeen year old you mentioned). That’s something I think is totally unacceptable and predatory (especially considering his public position), and since he’s decided that he should lead his local citizens, I think that predatory part of his life, particularly if he’s doing it on the job that the public is paying him for, is fair game for the press and public disgust.

marisacat - 10 June 2011

They don’t have anything yet on the 17 year old (but the Delaware police are on it! Safety is First!)…. I forget who the X rated shot was sent to. he was most explicit (out of what is easy to trip into online) with the blackjack dealer in NV.

NYDN has been after him the hardest, I think, harder than NY Post even.

Hey good luck to them all.

marisacat - 11 June 2011

I actually looked it up, the x-rated (hahahah that we know about!) went to the 25 year old in Texas, the Broussard woman.

diane - 11 June 2011

The young woman I was referring to was the twenty one year old who received what I think was the unsolicited underwear shot.

marisacat - 11 June 2011

The Seattle woman, the incident of his sending the photo but also posting it to twitter, that broke the story.

9. marisacat - 11 June 2011

Google News round up of reports on the anti nuclear protests in Japan. And I see a couple of reports in there on the earless white bunny born near Fukushima…

brinn - 11 June 2011

And I was about to go off on a rant about needing $$ for a lawyer so that I can finally get legally divorced from the boys’ dad who saw fit today when he came to pick up the boys, to yell and scream at me about how he wasn’t going to help me with anything anymore including not sending any child support…..

What set him off? I asked him a computer question (it is what he does for a living)….

Won’t make that mistake again.

At least our bunnies have their ears, and no one is suffering from radiation poisoning….yet.

10. marisacat - 11 June 2011

Slowly he turned…step by step….seeking to be healthy. 🙄

diane - 11 June 2011

Inch, by inch …. :0)

I’m imagining Mr. Long Dong writing a weepy book, on his “time off.” Maybe he can explain his bullying for Israel, right or wrong (hat tip to Susie Madrak), also? Or, maybe he can gloss over his initial: how I became a Public Servant strategy (this is instructive, can we say: via Schumer?)..

Cuz I hear he has bills to pay (join the millions, creep, maybe Israel will extend substantial resettlement funds for you, so you can resettle, in the land you’re blindly devoted to).

diane - 11 June 2011

time off

(for treatment), when thousands will die in this country for absolute lack of any medical treatment whatsoever.

Fuck you PRICK!)

marisacat - 11 June 2011

So much stress over a hack. Out of the Schumer shop, originally.

diane - 11 June 2011

yes, so much wasted energy, over a hack.……Sad thing is, hacks and their MASTERS……are, have been, making life absolutely hideous …..for little peeps, for waaaaaay too long.

Even though LongDong was/is a hack, I’ve no doubt he’s made wiser, more caring folk want to end it, with the insanity of his becoming a “spokesman” for those who lived in his neck of the woods. In that respect, I don’t believe the loud outcry, after his fall from “grace,” was, at all, unwarranted.

After all, his locale can certainly be used as a micro symbol, for the macro symbol, …of the World, at large. But that’s just my wee opinion.

marisacat - 11 June 2011

I mean, it hardly matters if he stays or goes. Go, another annointed by Schumr and the other Brooklyn bosses gets moved in… stay, he keeps up with the busllshit. Inevitably…

I know his speeches on the floor seemed like “soemthing” to people… but I thought it was just showboating. And fundraising gimmicks. And, if he and Huma are soveryclose to Hillary (and Bill) as it seems they are, then he may have been a mouthpiece for her in criticising ObamaLamaLove Baby.

All so fucking messed up.

So, who cares.

And sorry, but women who engage in private chats with a known congressional enttiy at his FB site, as it gets raunchy, should withdraw if they don’t agree o online sex chatter…. But as I see it, they wanted the contact (I guess some people want to be Rielle or Monica, 😆 ). So, again, IMO who cares.

Stay / go, but please STFU.

Speaking of [US Congressional] Substantial Resettlement Funds [and, US Visas, for a select, willing to play the: Punitive Austerity Card, as long as you’ve got the $$$$/Connections], apparently, the children of bottom of the totem pole, US Citizens, served in the military,… can’t even bring their own kids into the US:

After all of the negotiations, checking what was needed, having the mom go to the embassy, checking what was needed, Fedexing forms back and forth…

She has been out of the country ‘too long,’ even though she did what was required to keep her green card. We went from not speaking to amicable, and I helped keep track of important docs and dates.

So… perhaps another two weeks, plus 380 MORE dollars to DHS ICE or whichever grifter is out there…Kdog, I’m done, man…

An 8 year old, a grandma and a green card holder get stopped AFTER GOING THOUGH THE HOOPS.

Fornicate this police state.

marisacat - 11 June 2011

Don’t worry about the link. WP should provide “preview” imo…. but they don’t.

diane - 11 June 2011

you shouldn’t stress yourself out about those link failures honey, everyone who bothers to pay heed as to how creepily tedious and energy consuming, the simplest of communications has become, knows that there is an absolute lack of clarity (and truth about whom that “lack of clarity,” is actually benefiting) going on, as to the tracked, techno world we’ve found ourselves “progressed” into, despite our winning the future

marisacat - 11 June 2011

I am not worried about link failures.

diane - 11 June 2011

I’m glad your not worried about them hon (link failures).

I guess I became a bit confused because, after I had implied that it wasn’t a worry or embarrassment for me (my response to the blush faced emoticon you posted re my failed link), you commented to not worry about it. Taking that comment, along with the blush faced emoticon, I thought maybe you were uncomfortable with it, since I had already implied that I wasn’t worried about it.
