Customers sit outside a Starbucks during the dust storm [Joshua Lott/Reuters]

It’s the big sandstorm in Phoenix… which is an appropriate metaphor…

Listening to the local talk radio, people are, at the moment, flipping out over a piece in the Wapo by Lori Montgomery, running on the FP at least online… about the Soc Sec and Medicare “offers” Slob has made to the R.

Geesh…. mad, callers are extra mad!.  But, we will see if it lasts.  They DO seem madder than usual.  (  😆  send them all hats!)

I had a lot of trouble opening it, tho I did read it… but will post the link this way, lifting from Google News:

In debt talks, Obama offers Social Security cuts

Washington Post – Lori Montgomery – ‎4 hours ago‎

President Obama is pressing congressional leaders to consider a far-reaching debt-reduction plan that would force Democrats to accept major changes to Social Security and Medicare in exchange for Republican support for fresh tax

At first I saw the washed out color and thought it was another 70s picture.

Jonathan Schwarz at A Tiny Revolution has a few jokes:

1. There would still be a Soviet Union if they’d been smart enough to have two communist parties that agreed about everything except abortion.

2. Democrats : Republicans :: Getting stabbed : Getting shot. Why aren’t you enthusiastic about getting stabbed? WOULD YOU RATHER GET SHOT?

3. The Republican vision is that 20 white male billionaires will own everything and rule the world with an iron whip. The Democratic vision is completely different, in that not all the billionaires will be white men.

I esp like No 2.

(like the “So then do you WANT Palin?”)

A friend of mine from the Phoenix area was telling me that the media coverage of the dust storm there made it look far worse than it was. Still, the images and vids did have that Dustbowl era feel to them.

HA! Supposedly (bridges for sale in Aisle 4!) boychick in the house with the big pillars left Mother out of the big fancy news.

I don’t buy it, but I bet many Democrats will.

[A]t a private caucus meeting Thursday morning, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) told her members that if Obama’s serious about putting Social Security on the chopping block, he’d left her in the dark about it. And after an at-times-contentious meeting about how open Dems should be to significant entitlement cuts, leaders departed to the White House to read Obama the riot act. . . . .

That “riot act” crap shows they know their base.

Other headlines around say WH, Carney and Slobster all say the Wapo overstated. “Overran the runway”. I loved that one.

I should go see how the Pwogwessive stalwarts are spinning this shit, but frankly I’m not enough of a masochist.

lambert has a post up .. he hit Booman, Dkos… and I think Atrios. (always reliable fellators) Silencio… tho he indicates there is a diary up at Kos about Obster commiting “political suicide”.

Well…… mayb. But frankly, who cares? One way or the other. http://www.correntewire.com/

In case anyone can stand it… Harvard Business Rev slammed obster hard on Twitlandia bullshite. I feel an attack of juvenalia coming on: Twitfuck. Twit fuckery. Tweetfuck.

So, what are you asking President Obama? Why not more stimulus? Why did he choose to bail out the banks? What about the deficit, China, the euro, youth unemployment, and the future? All worthy themes for today’s Twitter Townhall.

But perhaps you should reconsider. Me? I’m asking him nothing. Consider it a tiny one man protest. Maybe, just maybe, AskObama is less 21st century transparency — and more like a tiny dose of digital dumbification. . . . .

NTIM. Nothing matters in the shadow play we re stuck in…

I wonder if Lambert ever noticed that your links led, however briefly, to rabble like Yours Truly besmirching his groovy space.

When he finds out, you’d better brace for the inevitable wrist-slapping. :p

marisacat - 8 July 2011

oh I have never commented there… no plans to either… LOL…

Once in a while he is useful, about it… 😉

ms_xeno - 8 July 2011

Only you could ever make me click over there again. Just like only Liberal Catnip can ever get me to click on Daily Kos. 😀

marisacat - 8 July 2011

Well he did the pwogwessive touring, so no one else had to. 😉

marisacat - 8 July 2011

kiss the kitties – a lot!

😉

marisacat - 7 July 2011

oh xcuse me… the phrase is

OVERHOOT the runway
.

Is that related to Obby’s ”ditch” thing? Or the ”keys to the car” thing?

Such bullshite.

Bank Of America Freezes Customer’s Accounts After Nearly $3 Million In Mysterious Overdrafts

An unemployed single mom in Orlando either managed to overdraft nearly $3 million from her accounts at Bank of America or the bank’s computers went haywire and mistakenly debited each of her three accounts to the tune of around $900,000. Regardless, the woman says BofA is attempting to close those accounts, leaving her and her family in dire financial straits.

She says her unemployment benefits and child support payments are both directly deposited into the closed accounts and if she can’t get access to her money by Friday, she won’t be able to pay rent.

A Bank of America rep tells WESH that this appears to be a very isolated incident. After being contacted by the TV station, BofA agreed to keep one of the woman’s accounts open while it investigates.
