hmm I watched it last night, but I left it at the commerical break, after the exchange highlighted in this review. (vid at the link, if anyone cares)

Arrogant disdainful interviews can be the norm for Foundling but last night on 60 Minutes with Kroft was even more so.

His lack of interest and his dislike for everything in his view was … well a bit amazing for a shlumpf running for pretzel.

About 15 minutes into last night’s lengthy interview with President Obama Steve Kroft began reeling out Obama’s sinking poll numbers.

Check out the look on the President’s face. Boy does he look over it. And by ‘it’ I mean Washington, Congress, the media. You name it. He’s not even pretending not to be annoyed.

I suspect this is what ‘Morning Joe’ was referring to this morning when they noted Obama feels that “the country is not commensurate with his gifts.”

The exchange begins at the 14:20 mark. ….

I’m so overwhelmingly bored by Better-than-you-in-Chief; he seems completely extraneous to the process that his ennui isn’t argravating it’s just mind dulling.

I’m hoping the primary is looooong and drawn out, because the entertainment value is much higher than the general promises to provide

marisacat - 12 December 2011

and he wears out easily.

As does Romney and at some point happy clown Gingrich will snarl.

The Future so bright I gotta wear shades 😎
from the article:
which means that everything the cyberpunks predicted in the mid-80s is finally coming true

Yep. Well, almost.

We can’t directly jack in to to computers, yet
No grown organ transplants.
We don’t have open war with South America,
Giant Babylon space station
No space rastas (I hope I live at least long enough to see that!)

Undoubtedly the author was bit hyperbolic but William Gibson is a freaking genius…

Foreshadowing of L’Oobster 012 rallies?

MOSCOW — Increasingly assailed by charges of electoral fraud, Russia’s governing party, United Russia, held a rally in Moscow on Monday apparently meant as show of strength after a big anti-Kremlin protest over the weekend.

But attendance at the party’s demonstration was sparse, not enough to fill part of the modest square designated for the event, and not even close to the 25,000 people the authorities later said attended. Moreover, many of the attendees seemed to have been taken there against their will.

“I don’t have a clue why I’m here,” said a 23-year-old student named Edik, who like others would not give his last name, fearing reprisals. “It’s for television. These people are lying, promising everything and doing nothing. They canceled our classes for us to come here. I don’t need this.” He added a few unprintable expletives.

Another attendee, Olga, 23, an accountant for a United Russia district office in Moscow, said she was “forced to come.”

“Apparently it’s our duty,” she said. “We’re supposed to make up the masses.”

Rock the Vote should take notes.

I don’t know what those gawdless red-rusky kids are bitching about, isn’t there some other billionaire trying to out flank putin and become the new czar (same as the old czar, won’t get fooled again)

marisacat - 12 December 2011

I figure a lot of the 012 rallies will be smushed into being with a similar model to his very early appeance in Berline. Free beer, free food and three bands. Of course people showed up. Oktoberfest was a ways off yet. Tons of beer sodden white people in Germany cheering for him.

Yeah that really works.

4. BooHooHooMan - 12 December 2011

Well if they want tons of beer sodden white people people cheering for him Here, they’ll need to offer free shots. Of course the cheers are apt to be comprised of :
There! Oh! You missed! Set Your Beer Down! Reload! Get Him!
There you go! Fire Again!…..and so forth…

SOMEWHERE ON THE BORDER — Homeland Security decided that wasting $1 billion on the big spy towers flop in Arizona wasn’t enough. Now, Homeland Security has decided to throw away another $1.5 billion for more border spy towers. (Yes, we get it. We understand it is just another big give away for Boeing and its good buddy, the Israeli defense contractor for Apartheid in Palestine, Elbit Systems.)

Most people didn’t notice than when Homeland Security halted the last billion dollar giveaway for border spy towers, another plan for the new $1.5 billion giveway was already set to go.

The upcoming contract for spy towers hasn’t gone out for bid yet. That doesn’t happen until January 2012. However, that didn’t stop Boeing from posting a job opening for those new spy towers, the Integrated Fixed Towers, during November in Tucson. The job post was for a technician based in Ajo, to work on those new spy towers replacing the boondoggle of the Secure Borders Initiative of previous years.

Already, the Tohono O’odham districts have been asked to approve new US spy towers on their sovereign lands.

Israel’s Elbit Systems is pitching itself again for the job. Elbit is also leaking a few secrets, as profiteers do. Elbit, the Israeli defense contractor, brags that it provided a large drone on the southern border of the US and Mexico.

Promoting itself in November, Elbit said, “A leading supplier of UAS, Elbit Systems of America was one of the first companies in the U.S. to fly a large UAS on the southern border as part of a lease project to the Border Patrol, proving the effectiveness of the UAS as a counterpart to border security missions.”

During the previous billion dollar spy towers boondoggle, Boeing subcontracted Elbit. Just as Elbit did at the Palestine border wall, Elbit says it can now deliver all this at US borders: Sensors, radars and electro-optics combined with unattended ground sensors, unmanned air systems and unmanned ground vehicles, for detecting, tracking and identifying.

Because illegal mexicans are an invented people I think the Israeli contractor is a brilliant move…

Those “Reapers” are old school. Check out this Russian “UFO.” I’ve noticed things like the Russian “UFO” over the borderlands for 10+ years now…

A lone gunman brought bloodshed and mayhem to the eastern Belgian city of Liège today, killing three people in a frenzied attack during which he lobbed hand grenades and fired an assault rifle into crowds of shoppers and commuters.

• The man, named as 33-year-old Nordine Amrani, died after going on the rampage in the Place Saint Lambert, near the city’s bus station, court and Christmas market. Two teenage boys aged 15 and 17 were killed on the spot, while a 75-year-old woman died of her injuries later. A two-year-old child was reported to be in a critical condition in a local hospital, and at least 75 people were injured.

• Police said it was not clear whether Amrani, who had served time in jail for offences involving guns and drugs, had killed himself or died accidentally. He had been due to appear for police questioning this afternoon. The prosecutor of Liège, Danièle Reynders, said he had brought the weapons in a ruck-sack from his home and walked alone to the square in the city centre.

• Willy Demeyer, the mayor of Liège, said the two teenage victims were school pupils who had just taken exams. Initial speculation that the attack was linked to an attempted jail-break and was carried out by three people was subsequently quashed.

Xmas time = Open Season

marisacat - 13 December 2011

I read he had an AK 47, a revolver and the grenades… with no details he also had “sex offences”….

Ganjafied Gabacho - 13 December 2011

drug offenses too, supposedly had an “interview” with police scheduled…some italian dude randomly shot down some senegalese youths in Florence today…

bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb IRAAAAN!

In November, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) released what Paul Pillar, a retired high-ranking CIA officer, characterized as a yawner of a report. The report vaguely described Iran’s efforts to build a nuclear bomb, and it included an explosive claim that a former Soviet nuclear weapons scientist helped Iran construct a detonation trigger that could be used for a nuclear weapon. But, as the independent and enterprising investigative journalist Gareth Porter reported in CounterPunch, it turned out that this so-called foreign expert, who was not named in the IAEA report, had never worked on nuclear weapons. He was identified as Vyacheslav Danilenko, a Ukrainian, who is one of the top specialists in the world in the production of nanodiamonds by explosives. This finding lead Porter to question whether the Israelis had provided the IAEA with false information. Nevertheless, despite Porter’s industriousness, the IAEA’s yawner had planted another subtle impression in the popular psyche, which like the aforementioned plot to kill the Saudi ambassador can be regurgitated repeatedly, when needed for stoking passion with the faux news cycle.

Now, in another important essay, Feeble Pushback From the Prowar Crowd, Paul Pillar describes how, in early December, Defense Secretary Leon Panetta tried to inject a dose of reality into the irrational ‘let’s bomb Iran’ debate at the pro-Israel Saban Center for Middle Eastern Policy [1]. Piller describes in detail how Panetta thoroughly demolished the arguments for launching a preemptive attack on Iran with the aim of destroying Iran’s nuclear weapons program, whatever that is. Of course, Panetta’s dissection of this foolishness does not make for snappy soundbytes and is likely to disappear in the electronic ether.

Not surprisingly, Pillar ended his argument on a pessimistic note by saying the power of Panetta’s analysis may not make a difference.

I don’t see how any serious air-strikes can pass Chinese and Russian “muster.” Mebbe the Israelis are crazy enough to think, “fuck the Chinese” but they do a lot of business with the Russians…

marisacat - 13 December 2011

The problem si I think both the Israelis and the US have gone insane.

Ganjafied Gabacho - 13 December 2011

right, but there’s crazy and there’s crazy like a fox…

I don’t know but I gotta believe the US doesn’t want to provoke China too much until we’re ready to default on their note…

Who knows? They (US/Israel) certainly are sociopathic and psychotic, and crazy is as crazy does

marisacat - 13 December 2011

We’ve gone after all the old enemies. The former associates and vassals. If we can acquire we have.

Why would we leave Syria and Iran out?

I do feel we are functionally insane. Beyond crazy fox, way out in the insane galaxy…. We shake our fist at China and Russia, too. Soon imo we will at Euro Franco-Germania.

I think we are utterly nutz. I think acquisition of resources is pretty much almost a side business, of course we like it and if we can get by taking, Great!!, but the truth is just plain old domination. Domination of people, land – and resources are good to have too… Yum. An so on.

10. BooHooHooMan - 13 December 2011

😆 Well Grassley cut thru the crap rather well.
And now has Corzine and the MFCFO naming names now..
And the GOP are going after Gary Gensler puttin the fix in.

…and so forth….We’ll Pick it Up!

Oopsie! <b?The head of the CME is now testifying – straight up – that Corzine KNEW and they have turned the names of the MF Gloabla people who reported this to the CME and all names and documentation have been turned over to the DoJ.

marisacat - 13 December 2011

Oopsie! The head of the CME is now testifying – straight up – that Corzine KNEW and they have turned the names of the MF Gloabla people who reported this to the CME and all names and documentation have been turned over to the DoJ

He’ll be doing more than slurring the odd name here or there.

Maybe a suite is opening up in No Carolina… Madoff on one side, Pollard in the middle and Corzine to the other side.

I can see it.

Slob and Holder can point to Big Democrat Big Gold Saxe boy Corzine. “See we meant business all along!”

BooHooHooMan - 13 December 2011
