Sigh 23 February 2012

Posted by marisacat in 2012 Re Election, Inconvenient Voice of the Voter, Total fucking lunatics.

The CNN debate was marked by peevish exchanges between Rick Santorum and Mitt Romney. | AP Photos

So depressing.  The cons, religious grifters and panhandlers, skunks, slags … I can’t find words crass enough for the horrid mess we are presented with.

And Slob of course.  The Singing Pretzel.

JAKE TAPPER blog post, “The WH Loves Aggressive Journalism – Abroad,” from yesterday’s briefing:

TAPPER: “The White House keeps praising these journalists … who’ve been killed … How does that square with the fact that this administration has been so aggressively trying to stop aggressive journalism in the United States by using the Espionage Act to take whistleblowers to court? … [T]he truth should come out abroad; it shouldn’t come out here?”

CARNEY: “[T]hat’s not at all what I’m saying, Jake, and you know it’s not. … [Y]ou’re making a judgment about a broad array of cases, and I can’t address those specifically.” http://abcn.ws/zVyNqu

And because I am a fucking juvenile. I have no idea why they gave me this job, but it was The Plan.

On a directly related note, Bradley Manning defers plea after being formally charged with aiding the enemy:

Coombs told the military judge, colonel Denise Lind, that he would object to any delay in the trial beyond June. He said that the government had indicated it would be ready for trial by April, but was now saying “it won’t be until 3 August”.

The lawyer said Manning had been in solitary confinement for “635 days”. He said “if the government had its way” it would be “over 800 days before the trial actually begins”.

Coombs said that, while the government had cited the complexity of the case and the difficulty in co-ordinating different agencies, “the defence would argue that due process rights of my client” had not been satisfied.

Manning, a former army intelligence analyst, has been detained since May 2010. Under the US constitution, a court martial must be brought within 120 days of charges being preferred.

Obama has a problem with rebelious whites, imo. White media who leak (or just write things he doesn’t like), white governmental agency people who leak and little gay white subversives. ANd yet he loves to align with the ruling white class.

He’s got race issues I think.

And DOJ counters that by arresting loads of poor blacks, poor black muslims and old guys in Florida who have been tricked into appearing to be full fledged terrorists, worthy of endless detention rather than being investigated, slapped awake by short sentences… etc.

marisacat - 23 February 2012

I have repaired early (tho having eaten lunch!) to a bottle of Francis Ford Coppola’s “Vino Rosso”… Other wise known as Dago Red… LOL

If anyone is looking for a superior red table wine, at 9 bucks (La Maison Safeway) a bottle, it is very very good.

marisacat - 23 February 2012

then again, maybe Casa di Safeway is more appropriate!

diane - 23 February 2012

hmmm, sounds good honey! ;0) enjoy!

Perfect capture of the slime and sleaze

Oh look at Dicky PA …… that tight jaw, …spittle gathering on the lips ….. A perfect portrait of Sociopathic, Latin Mass Frat Smuggery and Blatant Hypocrisy. ….A spittley, White $$$$Boyo$$$$, Index Finger Pointer, ….bar none.

And look at Romney, laughing and thinking: at least Mormonism – Openly, and Loudly, embraces Predatory, Fascist Corporate/”Private” Investor Practices and Misogyny….

(where’s Lil Doc PATex, and the Albino Swamp Lizard?)

Obama’s got the blues: President belts out a few bars as he joins …. Mick Jagger to salute Black History Month (what? what’s a Black History/American Blues White House Honoring, without Brit Rock Musicians?)

Piccy [Dedicated to Bosom Bud, Rahm]
Oh, go on then: Obama didn’t miss the opportunity to sing a few bars of blues classic Sweet Home Chicago …..

marisacat - 23 February 2012

I’ve only caught little snips of it, but one shot I saw gave me a huge laugh… Slob and wif were leaving early (it looked to still be a going, happening event) He led the way with Memsab behind… and right behind her – and I do mean herding, cramping, tailgating…… was MIL Robinson. What is that, First MIL of the US… FMILOTUS ????

😆 Fun times in the private residence.

diane - 23 February 2012

Lookin in the UPI collection for a possible shot of that one (had almost forgotten their habit of ‘photo albuming’).

marisacat - 23 February 2012

There’s also the WH flickr account…

I am having a lot of problems today with conenctivity and keeping a dial-up connection going, so I am not going very far afield…

diane - 23 February 2012

No luck at UPI (interesting, they didn’t include any piccies of Mick either, though he was headlined so much), I don’t think they’ll have included the Mother In Law shot on Flicker, but I’ll give it a peekster.

Maybe AT&T is ‘working on’ (fucking up/Updating!/wiretapping/ nicking) the neighborhood lines? Or are you getting pings that cut the connection?

marisacat - 23 February 2012

well what I saw was a vid… on some news program this am… first they shot Slob and wif facing the camera, they were basically exiting in the middle of two lines of cheering fans… then someone shot some film from behind them, I almost did not see Mother Robinson, as she is so much shorter, but there she was clearly herding.

diane - 23 February 2012

welp, siiiiiggghhhhh, either there were actually no Blues at the White House, or they haven’t uploaded the shots yet. There is a shot of him signing off yesterday on the latest Tax Scam for the 1%ers though.

diane - 23 February 2012

Ohh, and there was also an endearing shot of Obombster widely grinning that famous jokester’s grin he sports, ….and holding a black baby; …………….. just far enough away from ……………. him, ………… so that that he might not catch anything running around the neighborhood, ….. due to a stunningly cruel lack of health care in the ‘heart’ Cleveland, Ohio.

marisacat - 23 February 2012

I cannot imagine handing a baby to a politician.. but people love to do it.

diane - 23 February 2012

and then too (although you’ve brought up ugly memories of assholes frantically offering their newly born ….. to that diseased sociopath, Shrub), I wouldn’t doubt a person could be arrested now, for refusing to offer up their baby for an Incumbent Re-Election Piccie (I slightly jest, …. mehbe just tasered).

3. marisacat - 23 February 2012

I see Slob has declared Bradley Manning guilty, of breaking the law.

Our Con law professor, lecturer, reader whatever he was, declared to someone in a rope line that BM “broke the law”.

Well this is all going so well…

4. marisacat - 24 February 2012

Well.. no matter. Too late now. AS IF they would have even considered it….

WHAT THE WEST WING ALWAYS SUSPECTED — ABC’s Jake Tapper: TNR’s Noam Scheiber, in his new book, “The Escape Arti$ts:

How Obama’s Team Fumbled the Recovery,” “uncovered … a December 2008 memo written by Christie Romer, … in which she suggested to eliminate the economic gap caused by the recession it would take a ‘combination of spending, taxes, and transfers to state and localities…costing about $1.8 trillion over two years.’ … Scheiber links to a copy of the previously unseen memo. … If you right-click on the document and look at the ‘Document Properties,’ the author of this three-year-old Word document … was … [Peter] Orszag.”

Timid. Tepid. Totally Owned.

One of those days where I could see Barry getting shoved aside by whomever is left standing in the GOP.
Unemployment, people doing battle with paramilitaty police again this Spring, here and abroad, The Wars turning to a rout, soaring Gas, the glue melting off (DLTH) “recovering” market’s mask…..

marisacat - 24 February 2012

I think the WH is nervous… all things seem unsettled, hard to tell if they can keep up the supposed “Good News” for, what? 6 months? Oooops no NINE months. to GE day.

5. marisacat - 24 February 2012

EuroNews has a great and rather wonderful feature, they run a segment called “No Comment” which is just rolling video of soemthing happening somewhere, with audio… usually I know what it is that is going on, but wow… armed battle on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem… plenty of explosions…

I suppose I could go to one of the news aggregators and figure out what is happening, but gee… why bother.

It’s endless.

KOOKS! Of course, what was that Memsab and Barry said?
RATHER, the question is – What messianic heir-to-the throne crap DIDN”T they engage in? To be fair, I heard this story see, 😉 and must admit, I don’t recall them invoking the memory of, let’s see, Fred Strempo, yeh, the best auto body mechanic on one side or other of the Mississippi, see, who left a family and a 63 Chevy Impala unfinished. SO – Other than noting ole dead Strempie’s legacy and offering to take up Fred’s torch, literally, they invoked EVERY GOD DAMN BODY ELSE,

Bill Maher gives $1 million to pro-Obama super PAC Priorities USA

Comedian Bill Maher has pledged $1 million to a super PAC supporting President Obama’s reelection bid, some welcome news for a group that has struggled to raise money compared with its conservative rivals.

Yes? No? ALL trash? Just dropped right in moments after arrival? LOL. 😉 😆

What Could Possibly Go Wrong?

Big Pink Inc., still smarting from that unfortunate Planned Parenthood rock-turning incident that exposed the wingnut creepy-crawlies running the joint, the inflated executive salaries, the breathtakingly large portion of donations funneled toward corporate whoring, etc., has hired Mark Penn’s flak organization to gauge PR fallout and presumably craft a communications strategy to repair the damage.

Vt. lesbian couple fight DOMA, deportation

A lesbian couple in Vermont has been thrust into the national spotlight. They are legally married here, but not at the federal level. Now one of them is considered an illegal immigrant and is facing deportation.

Frances Herbert and Takako Ueda met in college and have known each other for 30 years. They have shared countless dinners, laughs and tears. “I knew that she was the one,” Ueda said.

After college Ueda returned to Japan and started a life with a husband and new home. But after a visit from Herbert in 1999, her life changed again.
“When I die. When I put my one leg into a coffin, I don’t want to regret,” she said.

Ueda divorced and moved to the United States. The couple have been living together ever since and married last year. But in December — another change.
They received a letter from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, which denied Ueda’s request to stay in the county, a right granted to heterosexual spouses of different nationalities. Sadness quickly turned to anger.

The letter states that because the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) defines a marriage as one man and one woman, Ueda had to go. “How can our country, with a President who knows discrimination in his core, how can they continue to uphold DOMA,” Herbert questioned.

Vermont’s congressional delegation, including Congressman Peter Welch, who recently gave a speech on the house floor highlighting the issue, is urging Homeland Security to reconsider. “The United States has always recognized the law of a state when it comes to marriage. So why shouldn’t Washington recognize what Vermont has done, what Massachusetts has done,” he said.

“It was a profound step that they made and of course we are incredibly thankful to them,” Herbert said.

marisacat - 24 February 2012

“How can our country, with a President who knows discrimination in his core, how can they continue to uphold DOMA,” Herbert questioned

Wakey wakey girlie.

We had a pair of those here, Filipinas… they got DiFi to intervene… Vermont.. oh well I am sure Leahy will take care of everything. Right?

Gregoire just said Slob was the INSPIRATION for the new law in Washington State.

(magick fingers I guess)

I love how everybody forgets that Bill The Putz foisted DOMA on us in the first place.

God knows what we will do in retaliation

NATO personnel recalled from Afghan ministries after troop deaths

The top U.S. commander in Afghanistan recalls all NATO personnel working in Afghan ministries in the Kabul area, after two NATO soldiers were killed by an Afghan security official inside the Interior Ministry on Saturday.

Four NATO service members have been killed in the last week, since the U.S. military burned a pile of Korans at a military base here, inciting five days of violent protests. . . . . .

2 U.S. Officers Slain; NATO Pulls Advisers in Afghanistan
By GRAHAM BOWLEY and ALISSA J. RUBIN 33 minutes ago

Two American advisers were killed in the Interior Ministry building as violent protests continued, and NATO ordered all military advisers withdrawn immediately from Afghan ministries in Kabul.

BooHooHooMan - 25 February 2012

And emerging from the rabbithole that is the WaPo piece, there is this absurdity.

Fratricide has been a growing problem between Afghan soldiers and their foreign counterparts here.

Among Brothers? And we were so close! Who knew that our regularly sport shooting other members of the family, parading their corpses around after “the hunt” and missile strikes on the kinfolk’s weddings could cause such a rift!

marisacat - 25 February 2012

It’s disgusting isn’t it… an invading occupying bombing imprisoning torturing killing counter-terra-ism army claims to be “brother”.

Such fucking bullshite.

Somehow it reminds me of that utter and complete jerkwad, Cain. His brother other motherism scheisse.

Update on the Catlick Rape Cult in Philly, and on that Cardinal Bevilaqua , the one subpeonad to testify at trial that croaked on January 31st, and they all but set him in a dumpster rather than have a big, press-eyeballin funeral…..

Court filing: Bevilacqua ordered shredding of memo identifying suspected abusers

By John P. Martin
Inquirer Staff Writer

Part of another cretin’s DEFENSE oh HAHAHA. blaming the higher ups. .Hey, Scratch Claw, Baby, Scratch CLAWWWW.

Cardinal Anthony J. Bevilacqua ordered aides to shred a 1994 memo that identified 35 Archdiocese of Philadelphia priests suspected of sexually abusing children, according to a new court filing.

The order, outlined in a handwritten note locked away for years at the archdiocese’s Center City offices, was disclosed Friday by lawyers for Msgr. William J. Lynn, the former church administrator facing trial next month.

Helluva defense, Helluva defense: the ol e Only ORDAINED into the Catholic Rape Club gambit, Oh Good Luck on THAT…..

Hmm. They’re seeking to bar the dead Cardinal’s videotape deposition..

Well , the really shouldn’t be so….. touchy.

They say the shredding directive proves what Lynn has long claimed: that a church conspiracy to conceal clergy sex abuse was orchestrated at levels far above him.

“It is beyond doubt that Msgr. Lynn was completely unaware of this act of obstruction,” attorneys Jeffrey Lindy and Thomas Bergstrom wrote.

Their motion asks Common Pleas Court Judge M. Teresa Sarmina to dismiss the conspiracy and endangerment charges against Lynn, or to bar prosecutors from introducing Bevilacqua’s videotaped testimony at trial.

The cardinal died Jan. 31.,,,,

The article has more on the crimes the conspiciracy to cover up the trial proceeding thus far…..

Again, there is crickets on it in Jersey….

marisacat - 25 February 2012

… and i just stumbled by accident on the report that Bevilaqua had croaked.. and done died…

BooHooHooMan - 25 February 2012

I wouldn’t have heard about it unless I saw the link to the case here some weeks ago. Saw it again when rounding the PA dailies, but only in Philly. They defintely have some cone of silence on this thing….

IMHO, It is part of some deal, Part of the fight selection over contraception and their hospital plans with Obby. No small amount of diversion for a case bigger than Boston’s…

And FWIW I see the Feds – they sayyyyyyy – 🙄 now are going all in on the Sandusky case ? Deal, much? Easy pickins? I think so anyways…

marisacat - 25 February 2012

the big thing with these cases to keep them tamped down, shut it off at some point.

Pity, all the pus and filth needs to come out.

They’ll never admit to the full number of Sandusky victims…

BooHooHooMan - 25 February 2012

:During 10 appearances before a grand jury in 2003 and 2004, Bevilacqua denied knowing details or playing a significant role in the handling of sex-abuse complaints, saying he delegated those duties to Lynn.

Talk about Loyalty! And Poor , poor Monsignor,
the Cardinal fucking him from the GRAVE like that. 👿

13. Madman in the Marketplace - 26 February 2012

In September 2009, after admitting to my parents that I was atheist, I was abruptly woken in the middle of the night by two strange men who subsequently threw me in a van and drove me 200 mi. to a facility that I would later find out serves the sole purpose of eliminating free thinking adolescents.

There is a long thread, with lots of comments from kids who were sent to similar places.

These places exist IN AMERICA, they’re completely legal, and they’re only growing. It’s the new solution for parents who have kids that don’t conform blindly to their religious and political views, let me explain: After the initial shock of what I thought was a kidnapping, it was explained to me that my parents had arranged for me to attend Horizon Academy (http://www.horizonacademy.us/) because I admitted to them that I was atheist and didn’t agree with a lot of their hateful views. Let me give you a detailed run-down of my experience here: To start off it’s a boarding school where there is literally no communication with the outside world, the people who work here can do anything they want, and the students can do absolutely nothing about it. The basic idea is that you’re not allowed to leave until you believably adopt their viewpoints and push them off on others. The minimum stay at these places is a year, an ENTIRE YEAR, that means no birthday, no christmas, no thanksgiving etc.; my stay lasted 2 years. The day to day functioning of this facility is based on a very strict set of rules and regulations: you eat what they give you, do what they tell you (often just pointless things just to brand mindless submission in your brain), and believe what they tell you to believe. Consequences for not adhering to these regulations include not eating for that day, being locked in small rooms for extended periods of time and the long term consequence of an extended stay. There’s a lot more detail and intricacies I could get into, but my main purpose was to spread awareness to the only group of people I feel like could do something about this. Feel free to ask me anything about my stay, I could go on for days about some of the ridiculous things I went through.

marisacat - 26 February 2012

ugh I wonder if anything can be done… the problem is she was or is a juvenile..

You know there was a boarding school outisde of Lausanne, a little ways down the lake from mine that had bars on the windows. If not Horizon Academy then somewhere else…

It’s clearly control and brainwashing.. but so much is.

Madman in the Marketplace - 26 February 2012

marisacat - 26 February 2012

I liked the comments that understood, so little can be done… the children are stuck and there is little legal redress. So many hoops to get thru, even in the rare case where something might happen.

Part of the problem, and no way to know this for certain – in terms of numbers, but yu just KNOW that the children of judges and politicians and so on are in these for profit prisons, which is all they really are.

Tracking Tear Gas

One of the biggest clues to understanding the connections among grassroots democratic uprisings across the world may be found by tracking connections among methods of repression.

We know that tear gas canisters, stun grenades and other so-called non-lethal crowd control technologies manufactured by U.S. companies have been used not only against the Occupy movements in the United States, but also by peaceful pro-democracy mobilizations in Egypt, Bahrain, Palestine, Yemen and Tunisia, among many others. Corporations are reaping profit here and abroad from the repression of democracy.

We also know that the U.S. government knows about—and even promotes—these sales. It is clear that there is deep collusion and moral complicity between government policy and corporate profit. What’s not so clear are the mechanisms by which this actually works. The relationship is convoluted, and this is no accident. Much effort is made to keep the process opaque by limiting our access to detailed information.

Below, we have focused on the use of tear gas in the Middle East. We should note, however, that this is only one example of a much bigger phenomenon and a much longer history. It is emblematic of a pattern of militarized policing, corporate profiteering and governmental collusion that has been on the rise since at least the 1980s.
