I suppose …. 6 September 2012

President Barack Obama closes his eyes before he tapes his weekly Radio Address in the Roosevelt Room of the White House, June 2, 2009.

The convention in Charlotte could get more disgusting, but hard to see HOW.

I hope others are wiser and busier than I am and thus are not watching… 😉

well, not bad for a Republican speech … a big part of it was MORE WAR, of course.

“I didn’t kill those Americans via flying robots without due process, YOU DID THAT!”

so very proud.

There’s a petition out there to get Ms. Magazine to cover Stein/Honkala and Barr/Sheehan. Of course it’s pointless, but some of the commenters who signed had good things to say.

I suspect the majority of them sincerely still think that the party hack Fems care about something other than their own plush seats on the gravy train. I know better, because I’m old enough to remember how those assholes didn’t cover Winona LaDuke’s vice-candidacy back in the day until their own readers wrote in en masse saying WTF?!

And if anything, the hacks are even more bereft of shame now than they were twelve years ago.

I won’t be signing, though, because that would imply that I think these Yuppie assholes are redeemable, which would be a lie. :p

I was in DC the last week and every hotel bar had the convention, which was on 15 different cable channels. Couldn’t even tolerate a small portion of it – all hyperventilating hysterics. Was able to avoid the Republican version because my home has no tv.

I seem to remember as a child my solidly GOP parents watching both conventions. Course, this was in the pre-cable days when you had rabbit ears on your 12″ screen. Something must have made it tolerable once.

The closest I came to following either convention was snerking at Mike Flugennock’s Clint Eastwood cartoon. :/

“…I notice again the tacit acknowledgment that most of Obama’s campaign promises were mere fantasies, pandering to the unrealistic hopes of his base, that he never intended to deliver. (This surely applies as well to Romney’s current hard-line promises to get rid of the Affordable Care Act and so on; if elected, he’ll surely disappoint many of those who vote for him.) Those of us who warned during his campaign that Obama was a right-wing Democrat closer to the Republicans than to his progressive supporters, and who were vilified as cruel cynics at the time, turned out to be prophets without honor in our own land; well, it wasn’t the first time, nor will it be the last…”

not only without honor, but hated for it.

With catnip no longer around, I was forced to actually peek at some stoopid ewwwww, Greens!!11 thread over in Orangeland on my own. I skimmed it, but noticed a distinct lack of participants. And not much in the way of new, innovative ways to run down anyone who runs down Obama. It’s almost like most of them are too embarrassed to admit that they were happy to be snowed once and now lack the imagination to consider anything else, and the ones who do show up are just going through the motions.

circle-jerkin’ for the home team

ms_xeno - 13 September 2012

May it do them good. :p

I empathize with people who say fuck it and don’t vote at all, but I guess I’ll be going for Stein. It would rock if she could really get the qualifying 5% but I’ll settle for just inspiring a few more gibbers of rage from the usual gang of stupid asshole “Pwogs.”

Democrats Are Sexist Meanies!

Because they wouldn’t let Clinton II “challenge” Hopey Changey this year.

[yawn]

I wonder what part of Hillary is Obama’s willing sidekick and did not accept the post at gunpoint these people fail to understand. Sure, it would have been laughs galore if she’d pretended to go all Teddy Roosevelt on his ass for even a few minutes, but why would anyone still expect it at this late date? Ms. Powerfullest of Teh Powerful was never going to do anything but be a good little team player, because that’s what she’s always been, for fuck’s sake.

Meanwhile, back at Lambert’s place, people are still getting called “derranged” for pointing out that the sun doesn’t shine out of Clinton II’s ass, any more than it shines out that of her husband.

Jesus fucking christ.

glad to hear it, the silence was killing me.

The stats geek in me has been reading 538 every day. Pretty much a lock for Obummer if he wins Ohio. Senate seems likely to be 52-48 dems. Waiting for it all to be over. $2 billion raised. I seem to think if either party took all their money and used it to help Sandy victims or the unemployed they’d swing the election.

12. ts - 10 October 2013

Marisa, are you ok? Am I missing something?
