A Blast from the past:

The War Pragmatists

by kos
Tue Aug 23, 2005 at 12:48:34 PM PDT

I’m not anti-war. As I’ve said before, I’m a military hawk. I supported the Afghanistan War and I supported the Bosna and Kosovo interventions. I’m not one of these touchy-feely hippy types that thinks war is inherently bad. I laugh at people who think they can “visualize peace”.

Unlike most people reading this, I grew up in a country at war. I’ve seen the effects first-hand. I also served in the Army. To me war isn’t a video game or an abstract concept. It’s real. Yet sometimes, many times, military force is a force for good. There are evil people in the world, doing evil things. And all the sanctions in the world, all the strongly worded denunciations, will never have the effect of a 1,000 pound bomb.

I oppose the Iraq War.

But I refuse to be labeled “anti-war”. I’m not. I’m anti this war. Why? Because I’m a war pragmatist. I understand the costs of war, but I also understand the potential benefits.

And in a modern world, we need to be able to weigh the two when deciding whether it’s worth engaging in combat.

I opposed Iraq because it forced the U.S. to take the eyes off the real threat — the Al Qaida assholes that attacked the United States and many of our allies around the world. That was a rightous, honorable campaign. Yet we took the eyes off the ball to go after an impotent, contained, powerless regime that posed nary a threat to its neighbors, much less the U.S.

It’s a war that never should’ve been fought, it’s a war that’s been negligently managed, and it’s a war that we can’t win. All the military might in the world can’t convert fantastical wishful thinking into reality.

I oppose Iraq not because I’m anti-war. I’ll have nothing to do with any of the anti-war rallies planned in the near term (and the crazy cast of characters that seek to inject their unrelated own pet causes into the proceedings).

I oppose the Iraq War because I’m a War Pragmatist.

he doesn’t knit either.

All the military might in the world can’t convert fantastical wishful thinking into reality.

Apparently, he’s not quite bright enough to see the irony in that.

Oh look! mcat wants to have sex with an octopus! (I can see the comments flinging around already…)

6. marisacat - 26 March 2007

well it beats Sludge City Agony Aunt with Whatever MB is. Both are aides-de-camp.

7. arcturus1 - 26 March 2007

is it unjust to ocupii?

8. marisacat - 26 March 2007

BTW, I notice that where the little clutch of co-whiners have planted themselves, men in a cub scout hideout with David Byron (isn’t that telling)… it is “crickets” over the violent rape spam.

Because it does not make for easy bitch bitch at Marisacat.

I had their number. Long ago. And ‘cat cans delivered’ capped it off.

whiners!

9. arcturus1 - 26 March 2007

Hamid Hayat, the convicted ‘terrorist’ from Lodi, has yet to sentenced, and has a longshot chance of getting a new trial first:

U.S. District Judge Garland E. Burrell Jr. on Friday ordered a hearing on an allegation concerning the jury foreman in the 2006 trial.
. . .

Burrell set the hearing for April 6, before a hearing already scheduled for that day on a motion for a new trial filed on behalf of 24-year-old Hayat.

Burrell wrote in Friday’s order that he has not yet decided whether the hearing will also cover post-trial statements the jury foreman made to a reporter at The Atlantic magazine.
. . .

In their motion for a new trial, defense attorneys Wazhma Mojaddidi and Dennis Riordan cite a statement by juror Alicia Lopez that Cote “demonstrated a disqualifying bias” when he repeatedly made a “hangman gesture” and once said “hang him” in discussions with other jurors.
. . .

Also cited in the motion for a new trial are statements Cote made to The Atlantic suggesting that, when deliberating, he likened Hayat to young Pakistani men responsible for London subway bombings.

Burrell is the original trial judge, who wouldn’t allow an ex Sacramento office FBI guy testify for the defense about the sloppy, leading question interrogation that secured Hayat’s ‘confession’

Oh look! mcat wants to have sex with an octopus! (I can see the comments flinging around already…)

Not only are we racist, sexist, homophobic vipers whose viciousness equals that of teenaged serial killers, but we also practice bestiality!!!

11. colleen - 26 March 2007

Oh look! mcat wants to have sex with an octopus! (I can see the comments flinging around already…)

That’s certainly a more amusing and sensual and pleasant visual than the subnormal attempts to shock and insult by LG or MSOC’s adolescent boy’s potty mouth. (not that I have anything against adolescent boys)

12. colleen - 26 March 2007

I notice that where the little clutch of co-whiners have planted themselves, men in a cub scout hideout with David Byron (isn’t that telling)… it is “crickets” over the violent rape spam.

Yes it is telling.

Repost from the end of the last thread:

I imagine MB is done …

However, if he wishes to comment here again, he must apologise for the Klebold/Columbine comment.

I know: too bad so sad. Supposed to take it lying down. Lie back and … think of Dkos. Or England.

But he did not like the site anyway, so no skin off his nose….

More suited to the DHinMI, JamesB3, Plut Page and Sister Sara place. Emptywheel (yes I know we are supposed to venerate all that vanity press work, friend of DH too, and stand in awe of 65K raised at FDL to fund her book being VANITY published thru, who else? Kos) and whoever else FPes there… another quiet site that spun off kos.

Not the best franchise..

…you do know that octopi have nasty, sharp BEAKS that rip flesh faster than lick-stipity right?

Then I guess I’ll have to amend my previous comment:

“Oh look! mcat wants to have S&M sex with an octopus!

16. marisacat - 26 March 2007

well 1820 and Hokusai… I guess one would have to ask him.

17. AlanSmithee - 26 March 2007

D. Throat’s repost reminded me of this. Over at Guruphiliac they have a term, Space Daddy, that’s almost perfect for Ko$ and his little koswacks. All the attributes are there. The grandiosity, the money grubbing, the officious announcements and empty gestures. It’s not “people powered politics.” It’s Pwoggie Powdered Pomposity.

18. Sabrina Ballerina - 26 March 2007

Arcturus, it’s doubtful that anyone accused of terror in this country will ever get a fair trial. But I wonder why he has access to the courts while others do not?

Nice artwork, Marisacat – what’s interesting about the scammer (a kossack I’m sure because the immaturity of the comments are very familiar) is that s/he thinks that such lame diatribe would be somehow shocking.

They are really such fifties prudes. You can tell by the way they delight in being ‘naughty’ and saying things they believe are forbidden! Too funny – they do need to get out more!

19. missdevore - 26 March 2007

awaiting the day the dove arrives with the type H vacuum cleaner bag in its beak.

Miss D,

This blog is haunting my slightly OCD personality. I will MAIL you the bags if you send your address and vacum cleaner model to colleen at blarg.net. If I lived in SF I would put away Marisa’s cat food too.
really I would.
PS what’s ‘Chuckles’ food?

21. missdevore - 26 March 2007

colleen-scroll down to the sept. 2006 entry on Chuckles here:

as for the h-style bags–I will simply wait for my ashes to be vaccumed in one of them.

it’s a eureka mighty mite. eureka was a big name long ago, but there are superior technologies now. which sucks (pun well intended) for me.

22. marisacat - 26 March 2007

SB.. I ahve to point out that while I do not feel personally threatened tho an effort was made to use my name, by the spam, it is not some slight stuff.

For one it escalates.

The last that I posted with an image of so raped that one is paralysed is not mild sexual porn. Nor is rape imagery.

23. liberalcatnip - 26 March 2007

awaiting the day the dove arrives with the type H vacuum cleaner bag in its beak.

I’m starting to feel like I should go on an exploratory shopping trip to track some of these down for you. Are they rare? Have you tried Safeway, which often carries generic type bags? (They do here, anyway.)

Darfur:

Aid relief for Darfur’s displaced millions is on the brink of collapse, the UN’s new humanitarian chief has warned. Sir John Holmes, on a trip to Sudan’s troubled Darfur region, told The Independent that attacks on aid workers had reached new levels.

He warned that one more major security incident could lead to aid agencies pulling out. “Then we will have a catastrophe on our hands,” he said.

And then what? And what are the Dems doing about this?

24. supervixen - 26 March 2007

What a gorgeous picture. I love Hokusai for his mountains and waves, which all have an erotic charge, but I hadn’t seen this explicit side of his work.

This is one of the reasons Marisacat’s blog beats the shit out of Daily Kos, MLW, BT, and the other boring wankers.

…you do know that octopi have nasty, sharp BEAKS that rip flesh faster than lick-stipity right? That’s not erotic, it’s a torture scene :p

Relax, Kevin.

25. liberalcatnip - 26 March 2007

I ahve to point out that while I do not feel personally threatened tho an effort was made to use my name, by the spam, it is not some slight stuff.

Have you reported it? I don’t think I would feel personally threatened either, but I definitely would make sure that that piece of cowardly scum was tracked down.

26. Sabrina Ballerina - 26 March 2007

Earth to Meg’s post from the previous thread:

MB: “And I have repeatedly encouraged people who were angry at one or another issue that divided the site’s posters not to leave but to continue fighting it out even when I understood that many felt it just wasn’t worth it because they were being disrespected. In my opinion, fleeing is never the answer.”

This isn’t possible given the herd and pack mentality over there. You can’t “continue to fight it out” if you are descended upon by a rabid posse of ratings abusers. I also lurked during the hrh banning, and it was excruciatingly ugly. It was the lowest of the low. I think admins were even involved in egging on the troll rating. “Being disrespected” is an understatement here. How about abused? How about intimidated? It’s verbal kneecapping.

snip>

You have a pollyanna view of the very site you patrol. As if leftists had a snowball’s chance of surviving the centrist herd.

ETM, Most of the ‘administrators’ took part in that ugliness. And they were joined by kos I did not see it until it was mostly over, being away for the holidays. These women and men, grown ups spent days ganging up on one person. Ugly doesn’t begin to describe it.

If MB thinks anyone can survive such a cowardly display of thuggery, conducted by a gang determined to run someone off a board for no particular reason, troll-rating every comment, basically disarming the person, he is dreaming. One on one maybe, but cowards don’t fight that way. The administrators should have stopped it. But they participated in it. I wonder if they have any idea of how many people totally lost respect for them after that!! Not one of them stood up and said ‘this is wrong’!!

As for MB I saw him in Harvey Milk’s diary a few days ago, backing up the obnoxious, abusive troll kops. Hard to claim the high road when you join the likes of those who were in that diary attacking someone they disagreed with.

They are whining and crying and throwing temper tantrums because a little blog every once in a while comments on their abusive tactics to try to control independent voices. Too bad. Karma is a bitch! They need to learn how to take it the way they dish it out or STFU about it, imho. I’m sick of their wailing to be honest.

No wonder Dems lose all the time. Wimps and crybabies is what they are. Sucking up always to the abusive Repubs. There is a corelation in the sexual desires of kossacks as expressed by LG and the Spammer to the Dem Party’s relationship with Repubs. ‘Abuse me, please’! Naturally Repubs oblige. And look what this has done to the country.

27. marisacat - 26 March 2007

It is ongoing.

28. liberalcatnip - 26 March 2007

From the “it figures” department

The Homeland Security Department and the military this summer will test whether drones flying 65,000 feet above the nation’s busiest airports could be used to protect planes from being shot down by terrorists with shoulder-fired missiles.

Dubbed “Project Chloe” after a character on Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff’s favorite TV show, 24, the anti-missile strategy is the latest to be explored by government leaders looking to thwart potential missile threats at commercial airports. Other methods are being considered, but Homeland Security officials say they may be too costly or impractical.”

29. marisacat - 26 March 2007

BTW, just to keep current

The Blogging Curmudgeon posted a bitch about mcat and the unholy mention of the Connor child over at the cub scout hideout with DavidByron. soemtime last night early am (cannot remember which time zone they post as).

He POSTED AT MCAT after that commentary at the cub scout hideout. LOL I did notice that, at least!

It is in the previous thread and is mostly all aobut MLW and rules, ratings, FAQ, Armando etc. Before I knew all of this, I advised Msoc and BC in a comment of my own to ‘work it out’. I am not too interested.

Spammer! BC Spammer! Msoc Spammer! MB

Because he has now emailed at least one poster at Mcat saying he would never could never post at such a place as mcat: The discourse level is so low.. and the child the child…! Oh woe is the child!

i say retread of Spit work.
Sorry guys/girls/whatevers. Not born yesterday.

If anyone wants the cub scout posts BC made, plus the ones from the previous thread here and a quote or two from the email(s) out there I will cut paste and send.

He is too high minded for Mcat. Lovely!

I am SO relieved!

I have BC on the blogroll.. it is my understanding that ‘Curmedgette’ is there now. If she agrees with BC I will be (very) happy to de link.

30. colleen - 26 March 2007

Have you reported it? I don’t think I would feel personally threatened either, but I definitely would make sure that that piece of cowardly scum was tracked down.

On this we agree.
I would make sure the cowardly scum was tacked down and exposed and likewise make certain that he had to find a new ISP.
He (or, considering what we know of the personal habits of ‘centrist’ female bloggers, she) certainly intended to intimidate. poor, sad, retarded little creature.

31. colleen - 26 March 2007

I note that they are now insisting you attacked her child rather than her ASTONISHING stupidity in exposing him.

32. liberalcatnip - 26 March 2007

Because he has now emailed at least one poster at Mcat saying he would never could never post at such a place as mcat: The discourse level is so low.. and the child the child…! Oh woe is the child!

Like I wrote over yonder, whatever happened to personal responsibility? I guess that just doesn’t apply to those who must feel outraged in order to feel alive. Oh the drama.

Where’s my troll rating button? I cannot stand such opinions! Waaah! Hide that! It offends me!

Ya well, too bad. Get over it.

33. Sabrina Ballerina - 26 March 2007

SB.. I ahve to point out that while I do not feel personally threatened tho an effort was made to use my name, by the spam, it is not some slight stuff.

For one it escalates.

The last that I posted with an image of so raped that one is paralysed is not mild sexual porn. Nor is rape imagery.

Sorry, Mc, was not making light at all of what was implied in those disgusting posts, were the claims made true. And I’m not sure, it’s hard to tell, whether or not you should feel threatened, come to think of it.

Whether dangerous or not, it is a sick mind that would do something like this simply because of political differences. My impression was it was an attempt to shock. I did not believe the claims made but that they were intended to mock women who they view as somehow depriving men of sex. An old charge meant to suppress women. Since on that score, they failed, they were, imo, a lame attempt to achieve the goal. Failed, would probably have been a better word.

As far as my comment regarding the failure to shock, it was more a statement on this culture we live in since sadly, we are all too familiar with the enormity of the problem of the crime of Rape! Not to be shocked, simply means it is not news or new to us, and that is the tragedy really.

It may not be a bad idea, if the spammer persists, to report it to the authorities. If for noting else than to expose the little coward.

34. marisacat - 26 March 2007

I said the father of the child should take care of the mother of the child.

And that she uses the kid to get happy cooing online.

And I alluded but did not link to (tho I have it, it was emailed to me) a diary her husband posted at Dkos in 2005. apparently quite happy about a kid going to school unkempt as the mother is lashed ot the blogs.

And I stated that a number of the round the clockers have small children. It has always amazed me.

And again, I notice cub scouts went quiet over rape spam.

Spammers! Bitchers and whiners.

I ahve also posted she is maniacally hungry for attention and that led to the Wapo article. In which she her child and her family were used. And front paged.

LOL I accepted one of the several offers that were funneled to me thru Dkos to speak with, email with, be interviewed iwth, reporters. I turned down The PBS News Hour. Just one.

I accepted a local press “East Bay Express” to be interviewed by email only. ANd did it late (Nov 04) after I knew the place was the SHits.

Well.. sorry I am not anxious to be used by the media with my agreement.

Just so the spammers can read it all again.

35. marisacat - 26 March 2007

It is being reported. That is taken care of.

36. liberalcatnip - 26 March 2007

the bag search is on…

How about this place, Miss D? Or here? Or here?

37. Sabrina Ballerina - 26 March 2007

And again, I notice cub scouts went quiet over rape spam.

Imo, they know who it is. Maybe not necessarily all approve of it, but will not condemn it either. Says a lot about their screeching earlier –

As for the claims made by BC! Stop it! You are making fools of yourselves. We can read and do not accept false interpretations by people with an obvious agenda.

What a bunch of thin-skinned whiners, really. It’s worse than I thought. What an education these last few days have been for me.

40. ms_xeno - 26 March 2007

Well, I’m sorry my intellect, such as it is, deserted me on MBM while talking to supersoling. The sun was in my eyes.

catnip’s comments were right on the money, though. That’s what I would have written had my brain been working better.

[blush]

Really, I should have known better. I’m no expert on MSOC but I remember the WaPo thing, though it took me a while posting here before I realized that the “angry blogger” in the article and MSOC were the same person. The article speaks for itself as to whether anyone on this board who mentioned MSOC’s kids could have made her look any worse than she herself did in the article.

Next time, I’ll remember to keep, er, mum.

41. liberalcatnip - 26 March 2007

Suckpuppets of type H!

rofl 🙂 Maybe the H bags were “outed” and had to get a new nickname.

still why must one mail order for vaccuum cleaner bags as if it were Queen Helene’s Mysterious Cream.

Is that good stuff? I’ve never heard of it. Not that any kind of mysterious cream is of interest to me but a lady must keep up with such things (apparently).

42. marisacat - 26 March 2007

I am delinking from The Blogging Curmudgeon based on this post and thread.

It is hilarious. I think the “anonymous” posts are blogcudge lui-meme, as it was what he posted here in the previous thread. And he posts also as Henry Louis, how he posted at MBM in the cub scout redoubt iwth poor DavidByron and followers

The BC post links to MLW (I thnk to META SOrry Sorry Weep Weep bitch moan) in the post, to Booman (paparazzi) and To MBM (an excellent post from Catnip but the thread became the cub scout hideout for DavidByron, Leader of the pack, + pyrrho + supersoling +++++ as well as BC in his Henry Louis guise… periwigged I would presume, powdered and lipsticked… LOL) but does not link to anything at all from Marisacat.

I would ask BC to delink from Mcat. I would leave a comment but I keep my voice here. Enough read and carry the jungle messages. 😉

Playing both sides of the street in order to reinstate the GreatlY Beloved BC (male version, if indeed there are two) at MLW.

I suspect he wishes to be as beloved as Armando. And thinks he has something to peddle.

He’d have to open his pocketbook and pungle up.

43. liberalcatnip - 26 March 2007

good goddess, what happened? IMSIC won’t ban peeder?

Maybe he heard that MSOC has removed my suspension (after realizing what a crock it was and through no effort on my part, believe me – take that BooMan). And I was so busy trying to find a suitable bridge to live under once having been designated a “troll”.

Armando fears the catnip. Fears her!!

Marisacat,
Let me make this as plain as I can. He is not affiliated with me. He is a free agent and has been since the day he deleted our entire blog and vacated. The Blogging Curmudgeon, the blog, not the person, is my soul property. I do not speak to Henry Louis Mencken, the pseudonym, not the dead person, and have not since that irreconcilable dispute.

As far as your dispute with Maryscott, I want no part of it. I like you both. I recognize that there is some very bad blood between you. I don’t know the details. I don’t want to know the details. I do my best, always, to steer clear of personal disputes.

‘Nuff said?

Oh puh-LEEZ! Are they really saying they can invent some little projectile that can go 65,000ft before a shoulder fired missile can go, oh, a COUPLE OF HUNDRED FEET??? Goodness! They’ll have to be at least twice as good at faking the test results to get continuing funding. Did so well with the ABM project too 😉

Relaxing now. Just that I can think of a lot more erotic sea creatures than octopi

BC/ette

You remain delinked. A simple blog etiquette rule is to link to waht is pertinent.

You linked to the Big Meta Weep at MLW, to Paparazzi at BMT and to MBM/catnip post with the weeping cub scouts in the thread.

You linked to nothing of mine. further your entire thread is Blogging Curmudgeon as anonymous or as Henry Louis.

Please don’t try to post here again.

yes I am laughing. Good lord, you must think I was born Sunday. Yesterday.

48. missdevore - 26 March 2007

oh let me picture bill bennett & john mccain going for a stroll in Baghdad (from rawstory):

“On Monday morning’s “Bill Bennett’s Morning in America” radio show, Senator John McCain (R-AZ) said that there were parts of Baghdad where he and the host could go for a walk.

“There are neighborhoods in Baghdad where you and I could walk through those neighborhoods, today,” he said, when asked to highlight something positive about what American forces have been able to accomplish in Iraq.”

49. Curmudgette - 26 March 2007

I am delinking from The Blogging Curmudgeon based on this post and thread.

You wanna delink me, fine. But that post had NOTHING to do with you. Nothing, which you would realize if you checked the links. Link to MCat? Not a one.

Whatever.

50. supervixen - 26 March 2007

Kudos to D. Throat for reposting that odious thing from Kos.

And all the sanctions in the world, all the strongly worded denunciations, will never have the effect of a 1,000 pound bomb.

Kos is an obtuse, incoherent writer most of the time, but this diary was on point, and this particular sentence was very sharply focused.

Pair that with the comment about how he doesn’t like people who spend too much time reading and thinking – he wants Action.

Everyone get the message?

A word beginning with F?

51. ms_xeno - 26 March 2007

All of this curmudging stuff is confusing…

As for the fancy face creams, I prefer lard Miss D. It’s cheap and you can cook with it too! Yum. (And what the hell is “Batherapy”?)

oh let me picture bill bennett & john mccain going for a stroll in Baghdad

Okay…OMG! Oh well…didn’t like them much anyway….

53. marisacat - 26 March 2007

For the record.

You link to Paparazzi, a FP post at BMT. WHich is mostly about me and I am mentioned all thru the thread.

msoc’s meta thread links back repeatedly to a post of hers extensively mentioning me, and in the thread as well. I’d link to it here but her site loads in about 10 minutes for me. Not worth it for this.

Again it is basic etiquette to link to what is pertinent..

Unless you link to things you do not read.

I have delinked frm you and I am asking that you not post here again.

There would be no point.

I sincerely hope BC is reinstated with very very special privileges at MLW, that being the object.

57. Madman in the Marketplace - 26 March 2007

Those drones have nothing to do with protecting anything from any missiles … at 65,000 ft over major airports, and thus major metro areas, they are more likely spy platforms. Like Global Hawk, perhaps:

Cruising at extremely high altitudes, Global Hawk can survey large geographic areas with pinpoint accuracy, to give military decision-makers the most current information about enemy location, resources and personnel.

Couple this with widespread spying on the part of city police departments, coordinating and sharing info. Add to that the increasing militarization of most police forces, the use of Blackwater on American soil, the lessening of the power of Posse Comitatus and the destruction of habeas corpus, and the fact that the military has a command that is responsible for for North American (USNORTHCOM) and I am far from willing to believe that Chertoff is putting military drones over cities JUST to “protect” airliners from shoulder-fired missiles.

58. Arminius - 26 March 2007

Who has the sharper tongue, the octopus, or Marisacat?

I would say the latter.

Since I am sore beyond belief at the way I was tossed off DKos in March 2005 after YEARS of being a TU (starting in late 2002), I have GREAT sympathy with this site and a few other DKos refugee sites. (Yes, I know Marisacat doesn’t want to be labelled a DKos refugee site, but that’s what it mainly is). And I have had many friendly short conversations with Marisacat, Madman in the Marketplace, etc. I’m perpetually running into friction with BooMan, since I’m about 20 years older and often think his expressions are comparatively childish, even as I am very impressed by his productivity and overall insight.

And I have great respect and affection, FWIW, for people like catnip and supervixen and hrh (and scribe, etc., though she’s not on this thread). I sometimes wonder if BooMan sees my friendly posts to them on other blogs.

And I should stop there. But the point of this was to say:

Marisacat, you need to adjust your love-to-anger meter. You really are way overloaded on the wrong side.

59. supervixen - 26 March 2007

#40, ms xeno: The article speaks for itself as to whether anyone on this board who mentioned MSOC’s kids could have made her look any worse than she herself did in the article.

That’s what I’m thinking. And she slurped all over that one because it came from a BIG-TIME NEWSPAPER!! No clue at all that the writer had done a hatchet job on her.

I cringed for her.

60. marisacat - 26 March 2007

Well Timmaeus/Arminius it was not me that accused posters at Dkos of ‘killing Terri Schiavo’. As I recall it was in the stephdray diary… And IIRC it was Easter Sunday, or perhaps the Saturday just previous. And you a Catholic.

Shall I pull those up, it would be a pain in the ass, but doable… and show all of that love?

I am sorry I am not a docile Catholic woman.

61. BooHooHooMan - 26 March 2007

Adjust the Love to Anger Meter:

How very therapeutic.

Mm,MM mm. Just learn to love what more exactly??? Bullshit? Conciliation for its own sake?

62. New Fake Name - 26 March 2007

This all kind of reminds me of the ways that my wife goes after our daughter…and vice versa.

63. supervixen - 26 March 2007

Marisacat, you need to adjust your love-to-anger meter. You really are way overloaded on the wrong side.

No, she doesn’t. Maybe she’s having a bad day, like all of us have bad days. If she is, there’s good reason for that. What you see as “bad anger” is the natural product of the abuse and mindfucking visited on any woman (and man, but especially woman) who DARES to say anything against the current social structure.

It’s good for women to be angry. They SHOULD be angry.

What really pisses me off is the idea that whenever women lose their cool and go ballistic, someone tells them they “need” to calm down.

How often does this happen for men?

Tempestous anger and freaking-out is OK for men. But not for women. We women have an obligation to recalibrate our hormones or something.

64. Arminius - 26 March 2007

Marisacat, It’s not a secret that I used to be Timaeus at DKos. And I also do not repudiate anything I said on Easter Sunday 2005. Feel free, but there’s no need to pull up old posts. I don’t want to argue that here, but I will if you want. It’s still a spectable that Michael Schiavo is treated like a culture hero at DKos.

“Docile Catholic woman”? You certainly are a master of waspish projection!
And you can be so cheap and obvious in your insults, with no understanding of who you are dealing with. LOL. I wish you could have met my atheist, non-Catholic mother. She would have chopped you to bits before you got a word out.

I’m a civilized adult. I have a pretty good rapprochement with Madman, whom I greatly respect, and I would hope for the same with you.

I guess I’ll just say this: I’m really sorry you don’t realize you have a love deficit (anger problem). I’m JUST as angry as you about politics and society. But I suspect I’m doing a bit better on the love side.

65. colleen - 26 March 2007

Arminius, I’m almost 30 yaers older than Martin, have never been banned from DK and would like to politely suggest that your patronizing bullshit meter needs considerable adjustment.
Go condescend at David Byron or offer advice to emsock

Jeeze what is it with the unsolicited advice from the terminally arrogant. Is it some form of losers counting coup?

This is just a little blog where old friends talk about the horrors of online ‘activism’, an example of which Marisa has kindly shared with us in the post below this one. My guess is that Arminius knows who that sick fuck is, why not offer him/her unsolicited advice before he hurts someone.

66. Arminius - 26 March 2007

Incidentally, the two comments above are a result of approximately three hours of reading on this site after being pointed in this direction by meta storms elsewhere, in which I read back quite a bit into the archives. So this isn’t exactly a “drive-by,” but I don’t plan to hang around.

I sure preferred the halycon times when Marisacat and Madman and I were all lovey-dovey on BMT. My feelings are always on the surface and were certainly sincere.

67. marisacat - 26 March 2007

waspish

chopped you to bits

LOL no you are here to lecture someone not under your control.

I cannot imagine that you would think that I care about your opinions. I found you lecturing and hectoring whether as timmaeus or as Arminius… and very self satisifed in the hidey hole of religion. IN which too often, imo, you bathed in a superiority.

Heh.. as a famous online personality would say. so what. Your particular niche.

What ever having an atheist mother means. Mine was as well. Tho she corrected people from applying “atheist” she considered that within a belief or active “non belief” system.

I find a lot of religious fake love around in the world. A stench of sanctity as they say. It rarely esp from a fake pulpit seems to be real human love.

isn’t Easter coming soon? A hard time for some religious, or so I read. Better the pagan celebration.

I won’t be replying to you again. No point.

68. supervixen - 26 March 2007

Oh come on, Arminius:

I guess I’ll just say this: I’m really sorry you don’t realize you have a love deficit (anger problem). I’m JUST as angry as you about politics and society. But I suspect I’m doing a bit better on the love side.

Why do you say this? Who says you’re doing better “on the love side”?

It’s true that the more a person learns to tap into the endless supply of love in the universe, they become less angry. But attacking others for having a “love deficit” is an angry action, not a loving action. See what I mean?

69. bayprairie - 26 March 2007

But I suspect I’m doing a bit better on the love side.

maybe you should go enjoy you some. have time to read the abusive rape spam? no comment though, i see. i suppose lecture is more important to you. perhaps you should move along now. you’re being a dip.

or a jerk.

i can’t decide which.

70. colleen - 26 March 2007

I guess I’ll just say this: I’m really sorry you don’t realize you have a love deficit (anger problem). I’m JUST as angry as you about politics and society. But I suspect I’m doing a bit better on the love side.

Yes I’m sure we can all feel the Christian love.

71. marisacat - 26 March 2007

BTW, Arminius is using a “truthteller” appellation for himself as his email …

Here on a mission.

72. Madman in the Marketplace - 26 March 2007

well, there is unreasonable anger, and then there is the anger that comes from righteous indignation, from a disgust for business-as-usual and the way the herd morality of this culture, and the shallow religion and the shallower politics that it loves so well, depress honest discourse, REAL political conflict. I’m going to post a quote here that I use as a bit of a motto now at LSF (SOMEONE was kind enough to point it out to me in one of my xpost threads at BMT back when I bothered … I wish I could remember who):

William Lloyd Garrison:

“I am aware that many object to the severity of my language; but is there not cause for severity? I will be as harsh as truth, and as uncompromising as justice.”

It seems to me that there is a surfeit of anger in this country. There is a lacking in disgust with the tactics displayed at the Big Box Blahgs. There is a serious shortfall of outrage expressed in response to the bullying and misogyny and homophobia and racism that rampages in our society, our politics and on the so-called political blogs.

So I offer this, with respect. Her anger and disgust are sorely needed. I for one am glad for it. In 2003, when I stumbled into dKos, I was thrilled to find voices like hers and colleen’s. For nearly a year there was some great debate and sharing of ideas and information, and then it was squandered and crushed by former Republican bullies in the service of a Democratic Party that moves ever right. THAT DEMANDS A RESPONSE. I try to offer my in my limited way, and I’m glad to be able to share in hers.

73. Nonpartisan - 26 March 2007

Mcat, I am truly sorry you received those hateful e-mails. Whoever did that is a putz and should be hounded out of blogging life.

74. supervixen - 26 March 2007

Madman, you are the coolest. I’m going over to participate at Liberal Street Fighter.

75. marisacat - 26 March 2007

I think Arminius is hunting for the Temple steps.. to drive some imagined highly personalised sinners out of his view..

76. marisacat - 26 March 2007

NP…

it is being handled. I don’t expect much, they just change IPs

Thanks.

77. Miss Devore - 26 March 2007

it’s one thing or the other.

I thought I was going to an early sleep, but I happen to be reading “American Vertigo”, so I just substituted one verbally stimulating form for another.

word junkies have a lot in common. you really only have peace when you are drawing, painting or swimming. the part of the eye life that exists without words,or a completely different element, a body in motion without alphabet, the happy reminder that all life comes from the sea.

I looked out the window and saw ultramarine.

Arminius, I don’t know you, but don’t you think it’s odd that you are lecturing the recipient of horrific misogynistic spam, and you ask her to love more, and then picture your mother chopping her to verbal bits.

oh hell, hook me up to the thanatos-scan. chart the results. send me another bill I’ll ignore.

78. Arminius - 26 March 2007

supervixen, fwiw, I just absolutely love your web site and dont’ want a war with you. Your comment above is accurate, and I should just apologize and leave. I just moved my office this weekend, my wife and I both have the flu on top of that, and today I got three different kinds of really devastating bad news. I’m so upset I can hardly stop shaking. I was trying to decompress by escaping into the blogs for a few hours, and I wrote my post above in a misbegotten sense of “trying to help.” But you’re right. It was mainly angry, not truly loving. So I repent. I retract it. I apologize.

I was thinking that I was writing from a sense of love for the people here ( and I think there really is a lot of that). I’m sorry.

79. colleen - 26 March 2007

BTW, Arminius is using a “truthteller” appellation for himself as his email

a religious mission. Because he’s such a kind and loving member of the religious left. What a sweetie

But my, my that koolaide is sour.

80. Madman in the Marketplace - 26 March 2007

WONDERFUL post discussing the excellent Blasphemy Project.

81. liberalcatnip - 26 March 2007

Speaking of love to anger meters, Mr BC aka henry louis has just posted a spew in the comments at MoBetta. (in the 4th thread from the top) My goodness, some of these people like to rage on over so-called “facts” they’ve thrown together which have no basis in reality. mcat – the new Rush Limbaugh, apparently. Oh and he’s deleted his comments (at least those with his name on them) at Curmudgette’s blog. It’s the flipping Crusade of the Self-righteous.

82. supervixen - 26 March 2007

Gosh, so much action happening over here at the Angry Lesbian Compound! What’s up at MLW: not a whole lot except “recommended essays” with 4 comments.

83. marisacat - 26 March 2007

Arminius

Go heal thyself.

Now that you got your agitated rocks off.

Yes that is right, no respect. You came here, you read and you lectured me from your cheap pulpit.

Go heal.

84. marisacat - 26 March 2007

Crusade of the Self-righteous.

Bingo.

Believers Bingo. And there are more believers than religions can count.

85. liberalcatnip - 26 March 2007

And you can be so cheap and obvious in your insults, with no understanding of who you are dealing with.

Don’t you love it when people make vague references to their self-importance?

And yes, the love more but my mother would chop you to bits pairing was quite telling. Imagery is revealing, isn’t it?

Oh well, I suspect he’s on his way to the next Love Boat cruise.

It’s interesting when people think anger is the opposite of love…

86. marisacat - 26 March 2007

I wash my hands of all of you.

-Blogging Curmudgeon at MBM

Eh.. promise?

87. wu ming - 26 March 2007

that was what i assumed the drones were for, madman. that and firing missiles into revolting coastal urban cores, a la gaza, should they get difficult.

who knew hokusai did prints of crazy octopus sex? that one certainly doesn’t get into the coffee table books.

88. Arminius - 26 March 2007

catnip,

I see it’s easy for you to go with the crowd.

Please explain why you think it is “interesting” when people think anger is the opposite of love.

Amazing. BooMan really was right about this place.

89. liberalcatnip - 26 March 2007

I just spit Coke all over my keyboard. From BC at MoBetta:

Begone, Catnip. I will speak with you no longer. Say whatever you like to me, or about me, I will not respond. You do not exist to me any longer. Nor do any of the others at Marisacat’s blog. I will pay no further attention to any of you.

My response:

Begone, Catnip. I will speak with you no longer.

LMAO

My my you think highly of yourself. This is one of my blogs, you self-important ass.

Oh the high and mighty are in good supply this evening!

90. supervixen - 26 March 2007

#78 Arminius – I understand, but don’t apologize to ME, I wasn’t the one you attacked.

Also, using your personal problems as an excuse is NOT AN APOLOGY.

This is my pet peeve. I wish I had a dollar for every time I’ve recommended this book to people.

91. marisacat - 26 March 2007

I think BlogCudge has on shoes that pinch.. here is a snip:

How would you know I acted like an ass at Marisacat’s blog? That would distinguish me from the other people how, exactly?

I don’t know what sparked this obsessional hatred, but it’s clear that people all around just want somebody to argue with.

Begone, Catnip. I will speak with you no longer. Say whatever you like to me, or about me, I will not respond. You do not exist to me any longer. Nor do any of the others at Marisacat’s blog. I will pay no further attention to any of you.

Hm, if a drama queen pitches a fit in the forest and has no audience, does she still exist?

Begone catnip? at her own blog?

as I said, I hope his flings of promises are things he can keep.

Begone yourself.

BTW… I saw that the jungle drums carried my message to the “ette” version lickety split. Or was that lickety clit.

92. colleen - 26 March 2007

And there are more believers than religions can count.

Marisa, I gotta say it appears that Online Jesus hates our guts and his followers know it. Do you suppose they want money?

93. Arminius - 26 March 2007

supervixen, thank you very much for the link. I have read most of the descriptions at the link, and will order the book. so from this small debacle, which started with a foolish sense of trying to be helpful (not to control), i learn something of apologizing. i’m really quite delighted to have the reference.

94. liberalcatnip - 26 March 2007

Oh all of these men who either want us to behave or disappear… hilariously pathetic.

95. marisacat - 26 March 2007

catnip,

I see it’s easy for you to go with the crowd.

Please explain why you think it is “interesting” when people think anger is the opposite of love.

Amazing. BooMan really was right about this place.

Arminius…

I suggest you leave now, while you are ahead. You got to weep about your problems and there is a bit of solicitude… but you are regressing.

Now you are invoking Martin, as tho he matters.

GO HEAL.

96. missdevore - 26 March 2007

wu ming- I thought the same. I still have to figure out how I am going to locate this 17th century italian drawing I came across in the art library at UCSB, depicting a priest worshipping a phallus on a pedestal. can’t remember the caption, unfortunately.

97. liberalcatnip - 26 March 2007

Gosh, so much action happening over here at the Angry Lesbian Compound!

We really need t-shirts and mugs if we expect to be taken seriously…

98. supervixen - 26 March 2007

On the Front Page of Daily Kos, guns = MANHOOD:

Yeah, he had a gun.
by Kagro X
Mon Mar 26, 2007 at 07:20:59 PM PDT
A top aide to Sen. Jim Webb was arrested today for carrying a gun into a Senate office building.

FOX News immediately freaked, as covered perfectly here by Taylor Marsh:

If you didn’t see Fox “News” earlier this afternoon with Bush’s boy Brit you missed a doozy. Brit was tripping all over himself trying to discuss Webb’s aide being taken into custody after being found with what was first described as an unregistered firearm, with unregistered ammunition in a bag. The prissy news anchor couldn’t even figure out the word for ammunition and how to describe a magazine clip. When the panel weighed in on the subject they looked and sounded like a bunch of sissies. They just don’t make Republicans like they used to. RedState shot off this half cocked headline: Rumor: Webb Staffer Arrested for Smuggling Gun into Capitol. Like I said, sissies.

Bwahaha!

Yeah, he had a 9mm semiautomatic pistol on him. Early word was, it was Webb’s gun, and he handed it off to the staffer who dropped him at the airport. Where you also can’t take your guns.

Leave it to the foppish losers at FOX News to get their pocket squares in a wad over it, too.

Best possible way to get arrested, I say. Beats Viagra smuggling by a mile, eh Rush?

Anyone objecting to this is:

“prissy”
“sissy”
“half-cocked”
“foppish”

From the diarist:

guns are “better than Viagra”

Wave those dicks, Kossacks!

99. colleen - 26 March 2007

which started with a foolish sense of trying to be helpful

Had you not mentioned that you’re in your 50’s and bragged about how loving you are I would ignore this dishonesty. But there is no way you intended to be helpful or loving. You came to criticise and condemn and compare yourself favorably to your projection of Marisa and that is what you did.

100. Madman in the Marketplace - 26 March 2007

Amazing. BooMan really was right about this place.

Well, no. Let me explain. There is a pattern going back many months, if not a year or more now, of this pattern. The dismissive attack followed by someone offering an olive branch followed by a ramping up of attacks, usually accompanied by a massive increase of denial-of-service attacks and spamming, followed by one or two more olive branches, olive branches that usually come with “kind” advice that tones must be modified, words chosen more cafefully, sugar adopted instead of vinegar.

It is a repeating pattern. We went through it several times at LSF until the attacks got bad enough that the site was down for days.

So maybe you’re not part of that, but one must understand that the timing makes a person wonder.

101. marisacat - 26 March 2007

well from the links that DThroat posted in the previous thread (and maybe upthread as well) seemed pretty clear it was Webb’s gun.

102. supervixen - 26 March 2007

#93, Arminius: great that you bought the book. I’m happy about that. Now it’s time for you to go elsewhere. Check you later. Email me if you like.

103. Arminius - 26 March 2007

Marisacat, Okay. Thank you. I will follow your suggestion, which is arguably kinder than I deserve. Perhaps I can be welcome here in some future months. For what it’s worth, among other things, I really like your eye for art. Peace.

104. bayprairie - 26 March 2007

so from this small debacle, which started with a foolish sense of trying to be helpful (not to control), i learn something of apologizing.

you are correct, you’re quite the fool here. i suggested you should go. that was good advice and still is. you aren’t improving your foolish appearances by staying longer.

in fact you’re way past ridiculous fool and headed towards a complete one.

105. missdevore - 26 March 2007

oh–how about a little news:

“By Gene Sculatti, Special for USA TODAY
It’s unlikely that anyone who has heard it will ever forget Leader of the Pack, The Shangri-Las’ 1964 chart-topper. The high-drama paean to a low-rent biker, sung with an abundance of attitude by a female quartet from Queens, became a pop classic and inspired such later rockers as Blondie, Joan Jett, Patti Smith and the New York Dolls.

Last week, four decades since the disc’s release, Mary Weiss, The Shangri-Las’ lead singer, released her first solo album, Dangerous Game (Norton Records).”

furthermore…….

in my dream last night there was this guy–a grad student, I think-who had this nervous tic, where he would paw the ground with his shoes. well, he ended up in my hallway doing the same–essentially vacuuming the rug with that gesture. I was elated.

106. bayprairie - 26 March 2007

Last week, four decades since the disc’s release, Mary Weiss, The Shangri-Las’ lead singer, released her first solo album, Dangerous Game (Norton Records).”

there’s a great interview with her at norton records if anyone’s interested.

107. marisacat - 26 March 2007

well I will be frank Arminius, you appear too stressed for the nets right now. Too stressed for debate environement.

Make sure you are not in emotional straits if you do come back.

I hope you feel better – best i can do.. So many people come here thinking we have some “relationship” that they can shit kick.

as I said, no respect.

find it elsewhere.

108. missdevore - 26 March 2007

exploding octupi! more unintentional sushi!

angry lesbian compound. snakes. clitlicking calamari.

the beat goes on.

109. marisacat - 26 March 2007

I am sorry to be blunt (and this is not limited to Arminius) but it is clear the rape comments set people off.

Not in a good way.

Very revealing.

110. Kevin Lynch - 26 March 2007

One of the most interesting things I was ever told was at the age of 18. I was doing a singing recital for a panel of professors and totally messed up song #2. After ending I said I was sorry for butchering the song. One of the lady professors looked me straight in the eye and said: “Never apologise!”

That may be one of the major tenets of modern Murka showing it’s ugly head back in 1980. Sad world. Kali Yuga. The age of iron and fire. More people need to get angry about all the needless death caused by endless greed, or we’ll end up being the top layer of ash on the cooling cinder of this planet

sorry about the spirituality, at least the lecture was short

Kevin

111. supervixen - 26 March 2007

Who could have foreseen the giant exploding octopus?

There were CIA briefings about it, but everyone was so busy with the champagne and strawberries…

112. colleen - 26 March 2007

Like I said, had the illegal weapon been a cell phone and the person arrested been a black woman objecting to being tackled from behind by soome asshole that would have been so much worse. Illegal 9mm semiautomatic pistols are cool and never hurt anyone. Never mind that they’re illegal in DC and highly illegal in the capital building. Why should Senator ‘Women cannot fight’ or his aides be forced to comply with the law. And besides, Webb used to be a republican and when it comes to policy pretty much still is. How cool is that?

W-A-Y too many latency issues at DK.

113. supervixen - 26 March 2007

One of the lady professors looked me straight in the eye and said: “Never apologise!”

Well, I can’t get into her head to understand what she meant, but the basic idea is that should you never apologize in a wimpy way: e.g., “I’m sorry you got mad” or “I’m sorry everything got screwed up.”

114. Kevin Lynch - 26 March 2007

I’m a lesbian? Well that’s OK I guess. Can’t go to the octopus for advice though. From where it’s tentacles are, it can’t find the clit either 😉

here clitty clitty clitty
always hiding in the folds

Kevin

115. earth to meg - 26 March 2007

Kagro X diary title purposely attempts to “normalize” and downplay this action: “Yeah, he had a gun.” Immediately cops an attitude. So what, he had a gun.

Pandering, spin control, a sad attempt to mop up the blowback.

116. liberalcatnip - 26 March 2007

Amazing. BooMan really was right about this place.

About as “right” as believing trees can fly.

117. supervixen - 26 March 2007

As an addendum: the focus is on taking the responsibility for the offense and then making the the commitment to change your behavior so that it doesn’t happen again. You have to make this clear in your apology.

So what your singing teacher may have been saying is “Don’t waste energy on apologies, just GET IT RIGHT”.

118. marisacat - 26 March 2007

lotta highly suggestible people online

Of course.

change the date push publish.

121. supervixen - 26 March 2007

115, earth to meg: I made yet another tag-mistake. This part of my entry, too, was also from the DKos diary:

THAT DEMANDS A RESPONSE. I try to offer my in my limited way, and I’m glad to be able to share in hers.

Mitm, I am so glad to have discovered your writings, ironically thanks to dk – who tried to silence you! Lol!

All this attention to this and other Independent blogs is due, imo, to an impending break-up of the Democratic Party. Kos’ and Atrios’ arrogant dismissal of Independent bloggers, the way in which it was done, has had unintended consequences.

I believe the alliance and cross-linking of smaller blogs have brought attention to strong, independent voices not welcome on the compromised and sold-out bigger blogs. I have discovered and read so many more blogs now. All this seems to be making the would-be controllers nervous. I believe that is why they are attempting to smear Marisacat and others. Still trying to silence them.

That many of us now post here rather on dk, is totally their own fault.

Miss D – I read your latest entry on Je Blague and loved it –

SV, why don’t you post your Beautiful Dead Girls diary on your own blog? Sadly, there have been so many more deaths since then, both men and women.

Merci, Sabrina–oh and good advice to SVIX. save your puppies from the beheaders.

I’m starting to really appreciate Deward Hastings.
He appears to be pretty much fed up with the terminally self important scoop bullshitters and, better yet, isn’t at all shy about telling them why with clarity and precision..

126. marisacat - 26 March 2007

Miss Devore I loved the last two you wrote…
had I been less pressured I would have linked to them. (apologies)

127. marisacat - 26 March 2007

I did not bother to read Armando’s several posts to the FP at MLW… But I guessed it would turn rough pretty fast.

I mean, the overall situation is both retread and highly debauched.

Not a great combo.

128. missdevore - 26 March 2007

colleen–it didn’t take long for aravia to piss on the MLW hydrant AGAIN. hard to reconcile that tolerance with folks that wail over people who voted for bush twice.

there’s an equivalency. People who claim there should be no constraints on their behavior are alike.

129. supervixen - 26 March 2007

I wonder what all the writing is saying in the background of the Hokusai picture.

SV, why don’t you post your Beautiful Dead Girls diary on your own blog? Sadly, there have been so many more deaths since then, both men and women.

Many thanks for the nice things you said earlier about it. But I think it made its statement.

The Continual Lament of Armando the Abused…stay tuned for the next episode coming up next on the WATB Channel…

You know, reading through that Webb gun diary and comments at dkos (why did I do that?) shows just how ridiculous these communities can be sometimes. Someone posts a diary about a female lefty blogger poking demeaning fun at some woman on FOX who isn’t familiar with gun terminilogy (“prissy” “sissies”) and that’s just a laugh riot. I shouldn’t be surprised that the female stereotyping wasn’t pointed out.

And beyond that, people in the comments apparently have no ability to read any of the many news stories about the incident so they have to rely on each other for the facts which they then write off as irrelevant anyway because gun-totin’ Dems are to be martyred. What if Webb’s gun, in that’s aide’s case, had been accessed by a curious child? It wouldn’t exactly have been that funny then, would it?

Partisanship kills brain cells.

131. missdevore - 26 March 2007

126 Mcat-no big deal-most of the hits came from MLW.

132. ms_xeno - 26 March 2007

(Sigh.) Long day. Where do these legions of wrist-slappers come from ? Do they swing by Kos’ space first to dole out slaps ? That would show some attempt at equanimity, at least.

My suggested title for the next post: “How I Learned To Stop Worrying And LOOOOOVE Getting Threatening Rape Spam.”

Yee haw.

Hey, Mcat, do you like the art of Masami Teraoka, too ? I find the octopus erotica too disturbing, but his technique is brilliant, and I love his series about the AIDS crisis and “31 Flavors Invading Japan,” etc..

133. missdevore - 26 March 2007

catnip–you so crack me up–as you did eons ago–but then somehow we got separated.

ah the miracles of clitography!

and kevin-yes, be a lesbian.

well, webb didn’t appear with the amber waves of grain-that was tester, no? and mcjoan.

don’t ask. don’t tell. let me guess.

Speaking of that I just put a post up at my place about absolutely disgusting bigotry by a military recruiter.

The rape comments – goes without saying – are sick. Very juvenile, but creepy. sorry you were the recipient of that vile barrage, marisa.

So, Webb “Vietnam was justified” travels with gun, eh? I am not surprised. Good example. Let’s all pack.

Very sad, that Kos spiel on the war. So much swagger, so little sense.

Right out of the acceptable playbook. I used to wish I would stop stop stop hearing hearing hearing those sorts of pitiful arguments against the war, but they were ubiquitous. Such was the (laugh now) ‘antiwar’ Dem majority voice.

Sad that Kos never thought to mention, amongst his “anti” points, that war such as the US government’s war of AGGRESSION on Iraq was the type of war long ago defined as illegal by a bloodsoaked world (circa Nuremberg, 1940’s)… for a bloody good reason.

Sad, how he opined on when to war and when to not war. (Since it seems the word peace is ick to him, associated with dirty protesters, Im using “not war” instead.)

What I get from that post is that as long as you have one good war (Afghanistan – yet, not so much, it seems, when one examines) as a “ball” upon which you must fix your “eye” it is wrong to start another. He also opined that poor management makes a war wrong. Oh, and all shout together, America: “It’s wrong if it’s a war we cant win!!!”

Im surprised he didnt mention one of the favorites, as in: (Kerry loved this one) What’s wrong with this war is that the president failed to get more friends on board… (to share the joy in criminal cluster bombing? Hey, nothing like a gang bang to make a rape all right!)

Really, so very sad. So, to sum up, if we had tied up Afghanistan with a bow and managed Iraq right and WON, it’d be all right, this war on Iraq? And he thought his experience in Salvador gave him cred to speak that way. Given what he came from. Guess he forgot Nuremberg and what came out of it. Or never got the memo. Jesus. Take a bloody leaf… from post war Germany, circa 1945.

It’s stuff like that that makes me laugh extra hard when I see buffoon OReilly berate Rocky Anderson, for posting on “far left” websites “like Daily Kos.”

rocky the “kook” v oreilly

PS – Apparently there is some ongoing Rocky v Hannity challenge to debate Iraq, the constitution, etc. Not on FOX, so as not to be subjected to the uberbiased editing.

139. NYCee - 26 March 2007

By the way, notice how the MSM seems increasingly chastened since neocon slurping and GOPlicking days were peaking, in general? Since the results of the reign of the warmongers and economic rightwingers has become unpopular with the public?

“It’s a war of aggression. Maybe a WAR CRIME!”

I note, in particular, one Tweety. Those are his words quoted above, not mine. Caught him saying it a few weeks ago. I have noticed the shift. He is not the man who once gushed, as Bush was playing dress up warrior – “I LOVE this guy as commander in chief!”

Then, just a day or so ago, we caught him rebutting a conservative or neocon (cant recall who), who cited the WaPo as liberal (same old tired misnomering). He said, Ive been reading it for years, and it is no longer liberal, its NEOCON.

We were just enjoying some clips of Jeremy Paxman on YouTube. A counter had been added that chimed and displayed the count of each time he came back with the same question after a pol refused to answer it.

As in:

Which companies, Ms Tory MP (I assume Tory), have said they will not do business in London if Livingstone is mayor? (Pol goes blah blah blah divert, obfuscate) Again, I ask you to name which companies. (Blah blah) Again… (Bla…) Again… 1,2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8….

Funny thing is, when that is done to them, even if they never vocalize the answer, you end up getting the answer thru the obvious dance of avoidance they do.

Our media doesnt put them in the hot seat. They dance with them.

Funny, too, I saw Bill Bradley on Sunday show… Russert? He was saying it was a war for oil. Russert said, Oil? (ReallY! Incredulous expression… you dont dare say!) Absolutely, Bradley shot back, like Russert was the crazy one to not yet get it. Russert shut up right quick. No more, but the administration and mr x and even ms y say it is ridiculous to say so…

I recall when saying it was for oil was a big taboo with the antiwarlite crowd, or the enabling crowd. The neocons hardly sweat a drop getting that electric fence into the zeitgeist. A few poo poos and they had their taboo.

140. D. Throat - 26 March 2007

Ha ha ha ha (13+ / 0-)

He had the entire U.S. Navy and its shitload of weaponery under his command and they think he’s too unstable to own a handgun?

Because he is a white male. I remember all the so called progressives blaming McKinney because she did not wear her congressional pin DHinMI the main instigator of the comment…. yet they all excuse Webb for packing… but I am just picking on DK cuz I’m a “goth”…

141. NYCee - 26 March 2007

Oh, as for the Kos spiel reference in my #138, as to why he was against the war, I should have cited it came from #2, via D Throat.

142. marisacat - 26 March 2007

Isn’t Webb like Klebold?

Just a tad?

And he is so into the Confederacy. Isn’t that akin to lynching?

LOL! oh sure! JUST KIDDING!!!

BTW, Arminius left a very pious comment in the Romero FP posting at MLW, the one with the allusion to lynching. Right after leaving here. So he went to Gahd and now feels better.

Boo boo: got it kissed. Or kissed a religious relic. somthing like that.

Love of God my ass.

143. NYCee - 27 March 2007

Oh, and Marisa, sorry, I should have separated out the bit to you about the rape emails from the other stuff in post. Doesnt look right there, stuck in with other issues.

Again, so sorry you had to receive that barrage of nastiness. Sick. Looks like you are addressing it, which is a very good thing.

Dude! Hello!! Webb is a Reagan acolyte who tried his fucking damndest to keep women out of the Naval Academy. It didn’t work. Now he’s busy waving his dick in other quarters.

Oh don’t worry! I understood and got it. Thanks for that…. One came in a few days ago, just a single one from that IP no allusion to rape, just to penetration, so i had been waiting, I knew more would come.

Predictable shits… 😉

SV

My take had been that he will demand a LOT of coddling from the Dem party. And now he REALLY will.

Heap big Macho man. Just what widdle Dems want.

god, can it get more pathetic.

146. supervixen - 27 March 2007

Heap big Macho man. Just what widdle Dems want.

The ones on Daily Kos, anyway. You should have seen them fawning on Webb. More than fawning. It was a weeping-tearing-hair-creaming-in-their-jeans frenzy. They Love a Man in a Uniform.

147. ms_xeno - 27 March 2007

Maybe the CBC should all go to Capitol Hill packing heat. As a goodwill gesture to Kos and the rest of the Party faithful. Or maybe if Kucinich strapped one on and impressed ’em with his target shooting, etc…

148. lucid - 27 March 2007

Or maybe if Kucinich strapped one on and impressed ‘em with his target shooting, etc…

Somehow I don’t think anything would change Markos’ mind about Kucinich.

149. ms_xeno - 27 March 2007

Well, lucid, it’s my considered opinion that they deserve each other, or have worked doggedly to build the sort of party they deserve. Take your pick. Such a shame then that they don’t get along.
