I’m a paralegal in a compliance department in the financial industry.
so may get to see the noncompliance too, but not be able to do squat about it ….sigh
well, since the whole system relies mostly on self-regulation, one can hope to put pressure up front to prevent it from happening in the first place. Compliance departments are basically superegos within the corporate “person”, some do it better than others.
The SEC and FINRA, not to mention the FBI or other law enforcement, don’t have the resources to go after most of the bad actors anyway.
This culture is what it is, and I’m too old to maintain anymore illusions that it’s going to change in my lifetime.
