London riots: CCTV pictures of suspects are released by the Metropolitan Police

Race War

Seems to me that is what the various controlling parties, the government, some leaders, others WANT in the UK.  Not that this is news, especially.  Here or there….

Media is filled with ME, other immigrants, long time non-immigrant Londoners and, I am sure, second and third generation immigrant as well, coming out of the woodwork… not that the CCTV film of the Malaysian student being supposedly helped to his feet, face bloodied but then he is robbed did anything but hurt…

AND of course, as always, criminals, the variously ‘disaffected but not involved in the issues at hand’ types, join in.

Not only ”Barbarians with Blackberries”, but ”feral rats”, “Pakis”, “black dogs” is heard…  Same old same old as here… white ethnics, POC from preferred communities, etc., making headway, while others languish… We have certainly seen decades and generations of that here.

I’ve read reports of Hasidic Jews, among a range of criminals/opportunists, involved in looting, but apparently kept off still shots and film that is being distributed to the press… That happened in LA in the riots of ’92…. Koreans were clearly looting – as well – and a careful viewing of film proved it, but hardly mentioned.

We’ll see what comes next.

As for here, Nose + Dive. I wonder what Friday will look like. Bargain shopping or no desire to hold much of anything over the weekend. Who knows.

Following lucid’s comment at the end of last thread that Meaty B. aka Tim Lange is retiring from Dailykos. I am just devastated. I loved that guy.
Golly, and the whole gang, too, over there at the DK.
The place where one can always turn to when words fail.
Because at a time like this, (’bout 8 here on the East Coast, and I’ll never forget where I was when I heard the news) at times like this we should all stop for a moment and acknowledge he left a lasting impression.

I’m thinking he is taking a stand for something. (11+ / 0-)

I remember something he wrote a year or two back that said if you really believe strongly about something you should stand up for it

Or somethin'. Somethin' memorable tho!
Oh yah – ! –

even if it means risking everything. I don’t know why but the way he ended his diary reminded me of that comment he made. I can’t remember the details only that it stuck with me all this time.

He will not be forgotten!

marisacat - 10 August 2011

Mud wallow here feels less polished. Boo hoo….

We are bereft!! Reservation cop moves on!!

Ganjafied Gabacho - 10 August 2011

Ode to Tim:

Plant, Shill, Narc, Snitch, Tool:
Lie Long, Jive Hard, Pile Stank Shit
Fucking Cocksucker.

BooHooHooMan - 10 August 2011

That is so wrong!
At a time like this!
.
😆 LMAO.

Ganjafied Gabacho - 10 August 2011

Frankly, my dear Boohhman, I don’t give a damn

lucid - 11 August 2011

My favorite Tim moment – tm – was when he relayed to the world the great wisdom of his [native american? – because that was never clear either] Father… ‘Always have a condom on you son.’

marisacat - 11 August 2011

And we were suitably enriched by his possibly native wisdom..

Gad what a fucking ass he is was.

ts - 11 August 2011

And he still does…as he rides off into the sunset, if you listen really closely, you can hear the “squinch, squinch” sound of latex.

Ganjafied Gabacho - 11 August 2011

A little known fact, again derived through my infamously diligent research so caveat lector but Meat Bucket has his very own authentic Indian Name™

Big, Leaky Condom

Yeah, and unlike fasting and other austerity measures utlizied by other tribes to achieve the vision for their true nature, MB’s tribe the Fuckapoos, engorge themselves on Santorum until a deep hallucinatory state is achieved and the tribes totem animal, the tick, reveals the truth of the supplicants nature…

marisacat - 11 August 2011

oh I am sooo glad I am not eating. 😆 🙄

But that does about sum it up. Whoever Meat BLades is, he sorta crushed the last of any image when he indicated to Madman that HE, MB is the only allowed Indian.

No siree Madman may NOT have a Lakota grandmother. Not not not. MB says no.

Here is a laugh, my old nickname for MB, way back before I was banned even, was “Bennetton Ad”… He could turn anyone off this terrible word that has little to do with anything: “multiculturalism”.

2. BooHooHooMan - 10 August 2011

Excellent post. And Definitely –

Race War
Seems to me that is what the various controlling parties, the government, some leaders, others WANT in the UK. Not that this is news, especially. Here or there….

.
Aye-Aye on Media reports, too, …. dutifully serving that end.
Like this in the Daily Mail [link fixed – Mcat] From the cheap seats here, I’ve never been to the Mother Country, LOL, but I can’t help but think that UK elites are moving to rally- well, just WHO exactly? Do they really think that a call out to the proverbial Hackney uh , whites? (like 70’s Harlem was Dutch) will result in identification with the Government? The Crown? The HRH What Have Yous?. Some needle to thread.
Looks to me that UK minders and their presumptuous PR calls for help among the Pee-puhl, among purportedly God Save The Queen downwards, those allegedly identifying with the Peeragetypes, and among their main target to splt, Wannabe Shop-keeping Englishmen of all stripes, HELLO – the already fucked and austerity measured to death – is most likely to fail.
Why should anybody other than owners and landlords give a shit about “order” now?

So, Englishemen, Choose! (Among what is on Offer!)
Get while the getting is good – Or – follow in the footsteps , perhaps, – of some recently stuck-up Harrow candyassers, , …..
walking home to Mayfair flat… all ballocks to the wind.

marisacat - 10 August 2011

it’s very depressing… moiv sent me that DM piece AND just sent this from the Independent. DISGUSTING coded message. Who is British and who is not.

I rememeber the Independent when ti was fresh and new, beautiful writing, a declared purpose of not being same old same old, saying they would report on religion and royalty as appropriate when in the news/making news, but no automatic obeisance from them.

So depressing.

BooHooHooMan - 10 August 2011

Owned now by Alexander Lebedev.
Russian mob, ahem, Banker.
Ex KGB Oligarch.
Major “investments” in Israel. The usual.

Picked up spuds like McCarthy in the deal. Dime a dozen.

marisacat - 10 August 2011

oh you know … i did read that and did not take it in………..

how awful!!!

marisacat - 10 August 2011

OOOOPS the DM link failed!!

if you have the URL handy I will fix it…

BooHooHooMan - 10 August 2011

Oopsie! LINK

marisacat - 10 August 2011

Thanks!!

BooHooHooMan - 10 August 2011

Thank YOU!

marisacat - 10 August 2011

btw, now that I see it, moiv sent me a different DM link…. I notice the papers are drowingin headlines, accusations, recriminations… an endless ocean has been unleashed.

She sent:

UK riots 2011 – Liberal dogma spawned a generation of brutalised youth

marisacat - 10 August 2011

geez loueez. Just getting to it:

[T]hey are illiterate and innumerate, beyond maybe some dexterity with computer games and BlackBerries.

They are essentially wild beasts. I use that phrase advisedly, because it seems appropriate to young people bereft of the discipline that might make them employable; of the conscience that distinguishes between right and wrong.

They respond only to instinctive animal impulses — to eat and drink, have sex, seize or destroy the accessible property of others.

Their behaviour on the streets resembled that of the polar bear which attacked a Norwegian tourist camp last week. They were doing what came naturally and, unlike the bear, no one even shot them for it.

A former London police chief spoke a few years ago about the ‘feral children’ on his patch — another way of describing the same reality.

Ganjafied Gabacho - 10 August 2011

Right! from the comments from the Mail story

It’s gone too far now. You can’t come back from here with the masses of low mentality witnessed on the streets this week. They’ve felt the power of the mob and it’s a sign of things to come. Great civilizations throughout history who couldn’t be cowered or broken on the battle field were all brought down by the same thing. Ant ants within their own ranks. You can’t change their antisocial behavior……too many of them to imprison and isolate from the community…..can’t enforce zero tolerance and terminate them….All you can do is continue to support a growing number of the self righteous subculture, treating them as law abiding citizens like yourself, until they overpower your ability to feed, clothe and house them, when they will become belligerent, unruly and take to the streets enmass, overpowering the highly regulated police, whom the do-holders have shackled and gagged, and leashed and disarmed to the point that they will finally walk away in the end…

That commenter is a well trained little goosestepper…

BooHooHooMan - 10 August 2011

Time for a soothing bene featuring Sir Paul, Bono, ,and Elton at the Royal Albert.
Oh – and Andrew Lloyd Webber.
Niggers from the colonies love that shit.

marisacat - 10 August 2011

Picking who we like. Adnittedly I can only see waht they decide to show me, but ME immigrants are coming out strongly aligned with the government… Or so it appears.

diane - 10 August 2011

Interesting, if true I’m tempted to think it relates to the fact that many of those immigrants were pretty well off when they migrated, and never really witnessed the hideous feeling a human ends up with when they realize the society they live amongst considers them scum, while extorting them for every penny they manage to get ahold of … and scapegoating them ….for any crime in a 50 mile radius.

I run into quite a few immigrants (mostly outside of the land border crossing immigrants) quite similiar in mindset; many of them, perhaps a majority, who vote Republican.

marisacat - 10 August 2011

oh honey i’ve been surrounded my entire life by money’d immigrants… far too many of them here, wanting to b with the world’s strongman… conservative, often conspiracy ridden and often fucking nutty.

More than a few of them dislike everyone…and, in particular, Americans.

diane - 10 August 2011

I can imagine, Cali is absolutely loaded with them, I’m sure there’s been a lot of cherry picking with those work visas, for one. Recently, I learned of some scam surrounding the $$$$GREEN$$$$$ solar industry, where visas are hooked up for investment money …

(are you listening to Pat? ….I just love her, so glad she’s filling in for someone again this week.)

marisacat - 10 August 2011

oh that scam, “promise” to invest [at least] $500,000 and hire… I forget 10 or 100 workers and you have a nearly free entry. They want now to tailor it to fit immigrants with advanced degrees obtained here, as they are so “valuable”.

But even longer, almost as long as I can remember, has been the scam to buy property, with at least one existing business that employs people on the property, that you keep going in one guise or anotehr and resident legal status is nearly instant.

one thing Pat, and almost any Democrats or Dem affiliated, is bad on is the full sweep, the whole picture of immigration. NONE of them will touch the scam of H1B visas – nor any of the other many many so called “work” visas… along with other problems.

Ordinarily I could care less about immigration, but imo legal immigration in an extended period of contraction needs to be curtailed. But there sure is no “comprehensive immigration reform” anywhere on view. For the rich, for the poor, for the guest/migrant worker… not for anyone.

diane - 10 August 2011

I agree, I haven’t heard anyone get anywhere near the work visa issue. I actually turned off the radio for the immigration conversation she had, because as much as I’ve come to like her, I knew she wasn’t heading onto the work visa issue any time soon.

And yeah the immigration never bothered me, until the insane demand for work visas when millions cannot find work. The cries of unqualified native citizens, are utter bullshit.

marisacat - 10 August 2011

well her issue was the stopping, arresting and deportation at the border, going INTO Mexico…. not even near work issues…

ts - 11 August 2011

They’re subhuman! Let’s just shoot them. That’s the Tory way.

diane - 10 August 2011

Yeah, re the Daily Mail link

Interesting that out of the innocent multitudes slaughtered by MIC drones; …. the multitudes of suicide victims of the raging race, and class war; … the multitudes of deaths of the poor disabled and elderly who freeze or heat to death for lack of affordable energy and decent food; … the multitudes of uninsured who would still be alive if they could have afforded medical care; …. the teens increasingly committing suicide in a world with Hope, but no hope, only Change for the worse: there appears to be no Media footage, let alone but a trickle of reports.

I’ve yet to see one picture of any of the multitude innocent droning victims for just one instance (though the Daily Mail appears to have a worldwide, endless supply of photographers to contract with), yet I’m sure there are miles of footage of either criminals and/or paid anarchists who made use of a protest, or young people who’ve learned they’re apparently not the right race or class to live in a manner which, they’re repeatedly, humiliatingly informed, proves they are ‘civilized,’ without resorting to bare knuckle crime, even if they don’t represent the vast majority of protestors who’ve somehow managed to bite their bile and not commit any arrest able behavior.

I’m sure that just tickles the fuck out of the elite – much more dramatic effect with a bare knuckled crime photo than a photo of white gloved crime, such as, perhaps, a banal photo of a computer, busy with the algorithms, transferring trillions in stolen assets (homes, savings, pensions …) from the ‘populace’ to the elite, who have honed their white gloved, DNAless slaughter of lives and will to live, to a hideous fine art.

3. marisacat - 10 August 2011

The Guardian has a piece up by a young Indian (Chakrabortty is the name) who grew up near Tottenham:

Many economists have spent the past few days passing around a paper on the Hindu-Muslim riots in India in the 80s and 90s. Written by Anjali Thomas Bohlken and Ernest John Sergeant in 2010, it finds that “just a 1% increase in the [economic] growth rate decreases the expected number of riots by over 5%”. Recessions are good for riots: perhaps no surprise, there. What matters, they argue, is when people suffer abrupt drops in living standards – and that goes for Hackney as well as Athens.

That point is rammed home by a new paper from the economists Jacopo Ponticelli and Hans-Joachim Voth. Titled “Austerity and Anarchy”, it should be essential reading for all those who want an academic take on what spending cuts made in Whitehall might mean on their local high streets. Ponticelli and Voth look at social unrest across Europe from 1919 to the present – and find a clear link between “fiscal retrenchment and instability” that goes beyond the misery caused by recession.

Those are two important, if general points. Add to them these observation by Rob Berkeley, director of the race-relations thinktank the Runnymede Trust. He points out that the Brixton riots of 1981 were triggered by the police stopping young black men under the infamous “sus” laws.

Thirty years on, that situation isn’t much improved: black men are still eight times more likely to be stopped and searched than white men. And in Hackney, some of this week’s violence appears to have been triggered by rumours of youngsters being unfairly hassled by the police (full disclosure: I am a trustee of Runnymede Trust). . . . . .

diane - 10 August 2011

This week’s lawlessness doesn’t have that – yet. But rather than listen to the grievances of Tottenham or Handsworth or, yes, Edmonton, the metropolitan know-it-alls are riding in on their own hobby horses.

Yet the locals have their own stories to tell. Take Alan Sitkin, a Labour councillor from Edmonton, who’s spent most of the past two days looking out from his bedroom window at “plumes of smoke” coming from a factory that looters set on fire. Sitkin can reel off local factors that have made the disturbances worse, such as a lack of jobs and cuts in the number of police. “Look, I’m a lefty; I believe in redistribution. I believe in the politics of the street. But to me that means Tiananmen Square; not some kids smashing in HMV. This is bullshit.”

Was that really the only local opinion he could find? Why not write: an employed local has his own story to tell … ….

marisacat - 10 August 2011

Guess he doesn’t know how many of the Tiannenmen Sq ”rebels” are now associated with Hoover Institute. Too often it just means they support the West, in all its parts and pieces. And wars.

ts - 11 August 2011

If they don’t riot MY way, which doesn’t involve rioting but instead asking me to write a polite letter to the authorities asking to please stop oppressing me…they’re goons – to hell with them!

Ganjafied Gabacho - 11 August 2011

We riot with class.

diane - 11 August 2011

yup, that is how they roll. (and yeah, boysenberry cheesecake to catnip …. I hope she’s safe an’ lovin the critters and a way cool garden … )

4. BooHooHooMan - 10 August 2011

Jeezis.

Will Meteor Blades be allowed to return to the front page when he gets out of prison?

by Paul from Berkeley

And will it be possible for Kossacks to visit him and send him care packages when he’s inside?

Oh dear.

Welllll, there is a Timothy Lange who lost a Federal appeal of a 51 month sentence for being a felon in posession of a firearm.
In Iowa.
Whose writ for SCOTUS certiorari,( think of it as an “up-rate”) – was denied ( think of it as, well, a “troll-rate”) was denied last October. Who should be going back to jail, oh, right about now.

Not that a Democratic operative would ever have occasion to visit Iowa. Besides all staffer bios at Dailykos are fully transparent ‘n all. 😆 They’d never try to brush any embarrassment under the rug.

But D A M N.
Add a flowery shirt, and a few years of gray, matey,
and ole Pappy MB does have a striking resemblance to a lad running for Congress there.
As a Republican.
Who just came out that he is supporting Santorum. 😆
Was it the hairline, nose, eyes, teeth and chin that gave it away? 😯
Nah, just politics. 😆 On the internet. 😉

marisacat - 10 August 2011

Hot damn.

marisacat - 10 August 2011

reading the denial of cert now.

Hotter damn. Wow…

The court
adequately explained its decision and considered appropriate factors in concluding
that Lange was a recidivist whose criminal history category did not accurately reflect
his recidivism and who had received relatively lenient sentences throughout his

    extensive

criminal history. See United States v. Gonzalez, 573 F.3d 600, 605-07 (8th
Cir. 2009) (no abuse of discretion in departing upward under § 4A1.3(a) where court
considered appropriate factors and adequately explained decision). We also conclude
that the court did not abuse its discretion by imposing an unreasonable sentence: the
court noted that it had considered the 18 U.S.C. § 3553(a) factors, specifically
discussed several of the factors, and entertained defense arguments for a lower
sentence.

Ganjafied Gabacho - 11 August 2011

I love you guys! Seriously though, super info…extensive criminal history and lenient sentences you say? Hmmm can anybody say Confidential Informant?

At the risk of repeating myself, COCK SUCKER!

5. lucid - 11 August 2011
Ganjafied Gabacho - 11 August 2011

That sounds like funn…too bad the festival is 2000 miles away.
Good Luck; outdoor camping festivals are not just great fun but I believe they’re really important to keep the cobwebs out of your brain and juice up on good vibes…

6. marisacat - 11 August 2011

oh… 5 dead overnight IED in Afghanistan. Never saw that one coming. Like so much else.

7. ts - 11 August 2011

With the riots, if you stack dry timber and leave matches lying around, should anyone be surprised if a fire breaks out? And that the fire is not going to confine itself to just the timber, but will spread to anything nearby that will alight?

Ganjafied Gabacho - 11 August 2011

Stop making excuses for the unwashed, pyro poor.

When we genteel, white, rioters set a fire it doesn’t burn.

8. Buenaventura - 11 August 2011

I don’t think MB is the same Lange, though it was a fun goose to chase. The conviction is of a “Northeast Iowa man” who pled guilty to stealing his neighbor’s dog and killing it.

Story is here..

On the London riots, LibCom had an interesting account/analysis here.

marisacat - 11 August 2011

ugh nasty little story, whoever it is. Whoever it is, I would guess they were glad to have something new on him… as it seems an incident that could have easily come to nothing but a dead dog.

Buenaventura - 11 August 2011

The real story behind the departure may be just as interesting if DK “Inside Baseball” still holds any interest. The Kos diary announcing MB’s departure and Armando’s reinstatement sparked a big push for more information from Deoliver’s lieutenants. The FP-ers jumped in to tamp it down hard, and a nasty battle ensued that included Markos himself. The implication seemed to be that MB was pushed out because he was siding with Deoliver’s troops against the “racists.”

marisacat - 11 August 2011

hmm a friend sent me links to Deolivermaybe a year ago (who I believe has already been outed or outed herslef, I don’t know the details)… and I would fall with NEITHER.

Like so many things at Dkos it is dumb people vs dumb people. Varying shades of mean dispersed between the groups. So Dumb Mean vs Dumb Mean.

Way way way back before I was banned, I thought one thing in particular they, the whole place pretty much, were stupid uninformed unobservant about, “they” the general run of white suburbia that makes up the so self-approving schmucks there, one thing about which they knew nothing was race in America.

Not that the Deoliver forces have done anything to improve that. From what I saw, they ahve not.

Buenaventura - 11 August 2011

I assume she’s OFA and maybe CPUSA. Any means necessary to tamp down dissent.

But those who were pushing against the FP are definitely her top people, so something was stirring beneath the surface. They did manage to bet MB to bam dissenter Badabing temporarily a month or so ago, so maybe they thought they had him sufficiently cowed and hated to see him go.

The latest “dumb” example was the attempt to call the Wisconsin recall defeat a win. Bowers had sold them all on how easy it would be back in the spring, then shows up on Monday before the election talking about how the recalls were always long shots. The Dem Party and union operatives joined in, and even Kos embarrassed himself with a silly diary.

Whiners vs. Fans.

marisacat - 11 August 2011

No matter what the states may try, the National Dems can come in, water it down, and failure follows.

Nothign but a nest of operatives, all sides.

CPUSA, that is a laugh. ANOTHER useless idiotic lip flapping non org. OFA imo barely exists… it sure was nowhere in 2010… and i would assume again, will be nowhere. NTIM. Idiots all.

Madman in the Marketplace - 11 August 2011

the National Dems can come in, water it down, and failure follows.

That’s sure as hell what it feels like those fuckers did here in WI. Nary a word about unions was spoken thru most of the recall campaigns, I’m sure to avoid scaring off the legendary “undecided centrist voter”, that distant cousin of the Snipe and the Snark in your mythology …

marisacat - 11 August 2011

They should just go for it. All of the watering down, right or wrong or bullshit or whatever it is, has not worked.

Has not. Welll except for national Dems. For them, yes, sad to say.

ts - 11 August 2011

I don’t even go over there. Just the stuff that gets blockquoted here lowers my IQ a couple points.

marisacat - 11 August 2011

yeah I follow it if someone posts a link here… but that is it.

And Dkos is several softwares past anything I was comfortable with… last night the thread would not “expand”… so moiv sent me some of the silliest.

Whacko bunch.

Ganjafied Gabacho - 11 August 2011

I wonder what is up with MB. I might be considered biased, but I have a real easy time believing the Diarist.

BTW I found this nice little blog taking Timothy LEE Lange/MB for being a thug for kos…

…I guess if you call out Jane Hamsher’s horseshit, that must be despicable and inaccurate in Tim Lange’s world.? Sneaked back?? That’s funny, I use my own name every time, Tim Lee Lange, why don’t you use yours?? And frankly, I don’t need Tim Lange’s help, or DailyKos’s, to get elected – my inner city district isn’t exactly parked at DailyKos waiting for the latest directive. ? Just trying to hold DailyKos to its own stated purpose, which is clearly just a bunch of hooey.

Farce.? Utter, comedic, farce.

Plunderbird

9. Ganjafied Gabacho - 11 August 2011

And now for a moment of pure ZEN

Honestly (365+ / 0-)

I don’t think having him try and babysit the assholes in the community was good for MB’s psyche.

by kos on Wed Aug 10, 2011 at 05:43:55 PM PDT

Hehe! I never knew boyo had such a keen wit…

marisacat - 11 August 2011

😆 he doesn’t

what a laugh it all is

ts - 11 August 2011

Again, I thought only the GOP had lost all sense of irony.

10. Buenaventura - 11 August 2011

Deo’s top polemicist, TIMT, delivers the party line about MB’s departure and how it related to his noble attempts to stamp out racism at DK:

(from the party organ, “The People’s View”:

Since Barack Obama became President, it seems like more and more each day there tends to be many forms of bigotry that is being mixed with policy. The moderator (sadly now the ex-moderator) of the Dailykos community knew it all too well as well but was only allowed to do very little about it since the ownership of the blog had allotted only 10% of one moderator’s time (and now zero percentile) to dealing with complaint of any sort for the entire site in the process many conscious and unconscious bigotry continues to have a channel to ponder hatred and racist views in a progressive outlet. For those who think self moderation is a way to go, it obviously has not worked and you only have to ask those who have been an online activist warriors for a long time. While in one end the owner of Dailykos, Markos, is forcefully condemning the management of MSNBC for allowing Pat Bucanan have a medium to ponder his bigotry, in my opinion, Markos does not seem too concern about what is and has been going on in his own back yard. How do you plan to be serious about weeding out bigotry if you are willing to look the other way by only permitting 10% of one moderators’ time be allotted to moderate the entire site from some hateful comments that are bigoted? As they say, “What’s good for the geese is good for the gander”. If one is serious about fighting the -isms at Dailykos and if Markos Moulitsas’ sentiment about MSNBC’s president Phil Griffin’s lack of action to get ride of Pat “the fucking” Buchanan from the air waves is a true conviction from the heart and not just pondering, one must also know what must be done at the Dailykos and other progressive communities that it must draw the line for a no tolerance policy for racist attitudes that are allowed to stand or get uprated. Moreover, would I be wrong to say the same thing Markos said about Phil Griffin regarding what is allowed to stand or get uprated in the Dailykos community — that, “There can only be one conclusion—Phil Griffin [Markos Moulitsas] thinks there’s a place for Buchanan’s abhorrent white supremacist [white privilege and racist] views” for the lack of action we have seen at his blog? Well, that depends on who you ask but regardless, we all must be united and willing to learn and fight against racism now more than ever to nip it in the ass be it at FOX News, MSNBC, Dailykos or other news outlets. Unite Against Racism!

marisacat - 11 August 2011

if not one censor then the other. That really si all party line Democrats are offering. OVer and over.

Well the stuff I saw on Deoliver, her overly exposed life, she has made a tawdry business of race. So tired all of it.

Like Tavis Smiley and whatshsname out on some national campaign to say useless things about Our Beloved. Throw them in the heap with him. One is nothing more than a paid babbler albeit in academe and the other has such a borrrrring show that when I trip over it I can hardly believe it.

diane - 11 August 2011

Ohh you mean the Smiley & West Show Tour:

Smiley & West are going on a road trip to highlight the plight of the poor people of all races, colors, and creeds so they will not be forgotten, ignored, or rendered … []

pretty font…love that ampersand! .. jus’ like lil billy and melinda’s! … oh and … ooohhhh: …sponsored by AARP ….. … and, anonymously (via Feeding America!!!!!!!!!), by ConAgra. . ……. A tour where the po folk get to tell they “story” … on the nets … for all the cherry picked, remaining employed, management class … to pick , sniff at …and ultimately shit on.

“The Bible” had this right: The Tender Mercies of the Wicked, such as:

give a man a fish and he’ll eat for a day ….. [but nevah, evah …. provide anyone that rod to fish with, let alone let them live anywhere near a water source unpolluted by the Elite – The Elite]

another day for the Elite fish providers to run their scam slaughter.

diane - 11 August 2011

and quite frankly…Smith & West …absolutely reeks… of wanna be a Connected and Royal Brit Elite, … Shack Bulllllllly.

marisacat - 11 August 2011

yes I think it is ridiculous… and rather offensive.

diane - 11 August 2011

indeedy it is. it reminds me of an ant farm toy that used to be sold years ago … my brother innocently tried it …and the ants bit the fuck out of him.

marisacat - 11 August 2011

oh those so fascinated me as a child… but somehow my mother always got me past them in the toy store… 😆 I also desperately wanted a ”Goldwater in 64” pin… a street seller downtown had a table of them, in colored rhinestones… (San Francisco was officially Republican then, now we are just unofficial, snicker)…. she got me past those too.

diane - 11 August 2011

what a wonderful momma, honey, ….to have lead you from fake glittering toyz.

welll, in lieu of the Boyz Big Toyz (and thinking on it more, I think my brother’s was a home made ant farm in mimicry of the BLOCKBUSTER! 60s! CAMELOT TOY), I still have the remnants of the original Raggedy Anne Doll …(red and white, peppermint striped, wizard of oz ‘witch’ legs, white ruffled apron, and all) my great step grandfather gave me, you can have them if you like. :0) ;0)

(Original [Straw blonde, Permed, 36-22-36] Barbie, …with the black and white, horizontally striped, one piece swim suit,..was tossed sometime ago, but not before she let creepy screw cutted Ken, ..fucking have it. … :0)

(;0))

(for anyone thinking it, …yeah, the: only one fish, …no rod, no clean lake part, …was from having listened to (over and over and over) Arrested Development’s:3 Years 5 Months And 2 Days in the Life Of …, and the single: Fishin’ 4 Religion, … when it came out,..in the early nineties … )

diane - 11 August 2011

yeah, and certainly, ….. their single: Give A Man a Fish, … fed that thought, ……every bit as much. ….

(I hope the Arrested Development artists haven’t sold out to oBombster, but, to be embarressingly honest, I have no clue. It’s become increasingly hard to keep track of things…and that’s cetainly a feature …not a bug, of the system we live under …)

In a new documentary, ex-national security aide Richard Clarke suggests the CIA tried to recruit 9/11 hijackers—then covered it up.

[snip]

n the interview for the documentary, Clarke offers an incendiary theory that, if true, would rewrite the history of the 9/11 attacks, suggesting that the CIA intentionally withheld information from the White House and FBI in 2000 and 2001 that two Saudi-born terrorists were on U.S. soil – terrorists who went on to become suicide hijackers on 9/11.

Clarke speculates – and readily admits he cannot prove — that the CIA withheld the information because the agency had been trying to recruit the terrorists, while they were living in southern California under their own names, to work as CIA agents inside Al Qaeda. After the recruitment effort went sour, senior CIA officers continued to withhold the information from the White House for fear they would be accused of “malfeasance and misfeasance,” Clarke suggests.

Clarke says it is fair to conclude “there was a high-level decision in the CIA ordering people not to share information.” Asked who would have made the order, Clarke replies, “I would think it would have been made by the director,” referring to Tenet.

Daily Beast

Incompetence or complicity? I really don’t understand how malfeasance is any more credible than designed malice…

marisacat - 11 August 2011

Sorry this languished… I did a fast run (well sort of) to the hosptial for blood draw, then home to collapse…

But out of Mod now!!

marisacat - 11 August 2011

hm I saw that when I landed at Daily Beast. Except we have never had much “truth” for those days, any of it… I don’t know what ot make of it.

Ganjafied Gabacho - 11 August 2011

I’m not sure either, thought I through it on the wall see what the assembled menagerie thought…Mr. Clark is an interesting spook meister for sure, but they all reek of something fishy in Denmark to be trite…I guess it could be called some “limited hang out,” whereby a grain of truth is used to divert and dissemble. But why now? It is as moot as Kennedy (about which a very recent story about JBKO and Bobby supposedly let the ruskies know they knew it was “dallas” and not the kremlin-)
My suspicion is there is some infighting amongst the cloak and dagger set and Tenet seems to be a target of interest…I doubt if Cheney showed up with a canceled check mated out to atta and Bin laden and said “i did it” no one would care…

marisacat - 11 August 2011

but they all reek of something fishy in Denmark to be trite

And how.

The whole thing stank… and Clarke is quite right wing, without necessarily being a Vulcan or a full fledged Neocon. Seems to me he has gotten worse in recent years..

marisacat - 11 August 2011

oh JBKO… ABC has been very clear, and it is they who has the rights to report on the [soon to b] released tapes… ABC has been clear, what media is saying is in the tapes is not.

Unless we are lucky I am guessing ti will be tired Park Ave 5th Ave Camelot stuff.

Several entries over at Cpunch on the events in London – and Brixton and elsewhere……

[A] political economy of mass dispossession, of predatory practices to the point of daylight robbery, particularly of the poor and the vulnerable, the unsophisticated and the legally unprotected, has become the order of the day. Does anyone believe it is possible to find an honest capitalist, an honest banker, an honest politician, an honest shopkeeper or an honest police commisioner any more? Yes, they do exist. But only as a minority that everyone else regards as stupid. Get smart. Get Easy Profits. Defraud and steal! The odds of getting caught are low. And in any case there are plenty of ways to shield personal wealth from the costs of corporate malfeasance.

What I say may sound shocking. Most of us don’t see it because we don’t want to. Certainly no politician dare say it and the press would only print it to heap scorn upon the sayer. But my guess is that every street rioter knows exactly what I mean. They are only doing what everyone else is doing, though in a different way – more blatently and visibly in the streets. Thatcherism unchained the feral instincts of capitalism (the “animal spirits” of the entreprenuer they coyly named it) and nothing has transpired to curb them since. Slash and burn is now openly the motto of the ruling classes pretty much everywhere. . . . .

Yup I think that sums it up.

hmm I am watching Fareed trying very hard to be Obama’s non existant third testicle. Jonathan Chait trying to be some part of the apparatus as well. (I have Charlie Rose on, mainly as I jsut got PBS back after much fiddlign with the damned antenna… 😆 )

And the poor fellow who wrote that bumbling guest Op Ed piece in the NYT, that hand wring lament, What Happened to Obama? is just ineffectual.

What a line up.

Watching Chait and Fareed, this is going to be such a boring fucking looney lying election (for one, Fareed is calling that Insurance Gang Bang thing, “Universal health care”… GMAFB).

Like all the rest.
