President Barack Obama and South Korean President Lee Myung-bak are welcomed by local school children during a rainy state arrival ceremony, Thursday, Oct. 13, 2011, on the South Lawn of the White House in Washington. (AP Photo/J. Scott Applewhite)

Enjoy it now…

I sent this around after I scammed it from SMBIVA… it is very cheering!!  And so is the thread!  Few are buying the really really REALLY bad script that Mullen and Holder and Slob cobbled together (Three Stooges, of a no humor variety… ?).

5 stooges?  Panetta and Petraeus too?  How many fascists in DC does it take to tell a dumb fuck of a lie?  (Too many, but it’s a tough job!)

AND one person I sent the NYT post at The Lede to wrote back:

It’s so over. The only thing that can stop it now is a picture of Mittens hanging out of his magic underwear with anyone but Ann.

Here’s hoping… all I ask is that the R low-ball the Flotus ”job”.  Give us all a rest from the mania.  I feel we are safe, Ann Romney has enough children and g-children.

**************

Oh FFS… no energy to read it now, but I just noticed this headline:

Saudi Claims Alleged Iranian Plotter Also Orchestrated Bahrain Unrest

from an earlier post at The Lede.  This is getting super dooper insulting.  It’s bad enough to be on a dog leash with Israel, but with the Saudis too!, at the same time!, is too much!!

Carrying this forward from the end of the last thread, BHHM posted:

Obama Phases Out ‘Saved or Created,’ Now it’s ‘Jobs Supported’…

Man! I REALLY don’t want to get arrested and show up at Rikers in a “jobs supporter”, but I’m thinkin, FUCK IT- we’ll just have to stop for jockstraps at an all-night Wal Mart on the way to the City……

2. Jack Crow - 13 October 2011

It’s like they don’t care if it’s obviously a lie. Because it will be consumed, regardless.

marisacat - 13 October 2011

well a lot of people just are not buying it.

The three main operatives at my local talk radio (not the winger station) have struggled to push it… but calls and emails (I have no idea about their Facebook or Twitter) running high against it.

Total disbelief.

Jack Crow - 13 October 2011

The ones not buying aren’t the ones who matter, I think.

marisacat - 13 October 2011

People are laughing. Which I think matters.

brinn - 14 October 2011

Yeah, but some of us are laughing to keep from crying!

“Jobs supported” — what a complete douchebag.

The fucked Foundling has approved ground troops for Uganda.

It was breaking news at the top of the hour, but nothing popping up on the Web or Google News (not that either is all that great) tho a trickle is starting now.

I DID find this on the Economist from just yesterday, which brings the back ground up to date.

So far just a 100, but of course under the mere approval of ground troops they will send in whatever number they want.

Proxy Wars, Air War, Ground War, CIA War, Pretzel War, Wars for the fucking evangels, for the Israelis. Wars to please the arms merchants, of which we are of course No 1

We just hire out. Paramilitary nation. Have gun will travel, a nation of screwball Paladins.

Wouldn’t you know the Economist article starts with some ”religious” person in Uganda.

FOR a man whose job consists largely of counting the massacred, raped and abducted among his flock, Father Benoît Kinalegu is surprisingly sunny. He firmly expects Barack Obama to send American forces to intervene soon in the nasty guerrilla conflict on his doorstep. “It’s not enough just to send money,” he says, sitting in his office in Dungu, in the remote north-eastern part of Congo.

But in May Mr Obama signed into law the Lord’s Resistance Army Disarmament and Northern Uganda Recovery Act, making it American policy to kill or capture Mr Kony and to crush his rebellion once and for all. America has repeatedly said that peace in the region is in its own interest. It would free up thousands of Ugandan troops to redeploy them under the African Union’s aegis in Somalia, where the rise of the jihadist Shabab militia has rattled the Americans. . . . .

Ganja a ied Gabcho - 14 October 2011

Oobster bringing light to the Darkies on the Dark Continent? Or Israeli manipulating geo politics on five continents?

Under the Obama Administration the United States has expanded the “long war” into Africa. Barack Hussein Obama, the so-called “Son of Africa” has actually become one of Africa’s worst enemies. Aside from his continued support of dictators in Africa, the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire (Ivory Coast) was unhinged under his watch. The division of Sudan was publicly endorsed by the White House before the referendum, Somalia has been further destabilized, Libya has been viciously attacked by NATO, and U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM) is going into full swing.

The war in Libya is just the start of a new cycle of external military adventurism inside Africa. The U.S. now wants more military bases inside Africa. France has also announced that it has the right to militarily intervene anywhere in Africa where there are French citizens and its interests are at risk. NATO is also fortifying its positions in the Red Sea and off the coast of Somalia.

As disarray and turmoil are once again uprooting Africa with external intervention, Israel sits silently in the background. Tel Aviv has actually been deeply involved in the new cycle of turmoil, which is tied to its Yinon Plan to reconfigure its strategic surrounding. This reconfiguration process is based on a well established technique of creating sectarian divisions which eventually will effectively neutralize target states or result in their dissolution.

Many of the problems afflicting the contemporary areas of Eastern Europe, Central Asia, Southwest Asia, South Asia, East Asia, Africa, and Latin America are actually the result of the deliberate triggering of regional tensions by external powers. Sectarian division, ethno-linguistic tension, religious differences, and internal violence have been traditionally exploited by the United States, Britain, and France in various parts of the globe. Iraq, Sudan, Rwanda, and Yugoslavia are merely a few recent examples of this strategy of “divide and conquer” being used to bring nations to their knees.

The Upheavals of Central-Eastern Europe and the Project for a “New Middle East”

The Middle East, in some regards, is a striking parallel to the Balkans and Central-Eastern Europe during the years leading up to the First World War. In the wake of the First World War, the borders of the multi-ethnic states in the Balkans and Central-Eastern Europe were redrawn and reconfigured by external powers, in alliance with local opposition forces. Since the First World War until the post-Cold War period the Balkans and Central-Eastern Europe have continued to experience a period of upheaval, violence and conflict that has continously divided the region.

For years, there have been advocates calling for a “New Middle East” with redrawn boundaries in this region of the world where Europe, Southwest Asia, and North Africa meet. These advocates mostly sit in the capitals of Washington, London, Paris, and Tel Aviv. They envisage a region shaped around homogenous ethno-religious states. The formation of these states would signify the destruction of the larger existing countries of the region. The transition would be towards the formation of smaller Kuwait-like or Bahrain-like states, which could easily be managed and manipulated by the U.S., Britain, France, Israel, and their allies.

snip, snip, snipperoo

The Yinon Plan

The Yinon Plan, which is a continuation of British stratagem in the Middle East, is an Israeli strategic plan to ensure Israeli superiority. It insists and stipulates that Israel must reconfigure its geo-political environment through the balkanization of the Middle Eastern and Arab states into smaller and weaker states.

snip

Re-Dividing Africa: The Yinon Plan is very Much Alive and at Work…

In the same context as the sectarian divisions in the Middle East, the Israelis have outlined plans to reconfigure Africa. The Yinon Plan seeks to delineate Africa on the basis of three facets:

(1) ethno-linguistics;
(2) skin-colour;
(3) religion.

It seeks to draw dividing lines in Africa between a so-called “Black Africa” and a supposedly “non-Black” North Africa. This is part of a scheme to create a schism in Africa between what are assumed to be “Arabs” and so-called “Blacks.”

An attempt to separate the merging point of an Arab and African identity is underway.

Of course it would be a gross oversimplification to think that Israel is alone in the various deadly games it is playing in Africa (and elsewhere), but certainly they are in cahoots with US in Africa and have been for a long, long time (can you say Israeli subsidiaries of US arms makers?)

Makes you wonder…

The seeds for President Obama’s demagogic press conference on Thursday were planted last summer when he assigned his right-wing Committee of 13 the role of resolving the obvious and inevitable Congressional budget standoff by forging an anti-labor policy that cuts Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid, and uses the savings to bail out banks from even more loans that will go bad as a result of the IMF-style austerity program that Democrats and Republicans alike have agreed to back.

The problem facing Mr. Obama is obvious enough: How can he hold the support of moderates and independents (or as Fox News calls them, socialists and anti-capitalists), students and labor, minorities and others who campaigned so heavily for him in 2008? He has double-crossed them – smoothly, with a gentle smile and patronizing patter talk, but with an iron determination to hand federal monetary and tax policy over to his largest campaign contributors: Wall Street and assorted special interests – the Democratic Party’s Rubinomics and Clintonomics core operators, plus smooth Bush Administration holdovers such as Tim Geithner, not to mention quasi-Cheney factotums in the Justice Department.

President Obama’s solution has been to do what any political demagogue does: Come out with loud populist campaign speeches that have no chance of becoming the law of the land, while quietly giving his campaign contributors what they’ve paid him for: giveaways to Wall Street, tax cuts for the wealthy (euphemized as tax “exemptions” and mark-to-model accounting, plus an agreement to count their income as “capital gains” taxed at a much lower rate).

So here’s the deal the Democratic leadership has made with the Republicans. The Republicans will run someone from their present gamut of guaranteed losers, enabling Mr. Obama to run as the “voice of reason,” as if this somehow is Middle America. This will throw the 2012 election his way for a second term if he adopts their program – a set of rules paid for by the leading campaign contributors to both parties.

Wonder, indeed. While the electorate grumbles and the PTB worries about the 99%ers getting at least a little wise to the game how important will it be for the Nooze to report a “lefty” (/vomit) is Potus as the chaos mounts?

Si or no? mi ‘mano abajo la cubija.

Ganja a ied Gabcho - 14 October 2011

And with Rethugs about to get super majorties in the house and senate (jurrymandered districts, doncha know?) do they really want the Potus while Rome burns?

I don’t think they want all three any more than the Dems did…

I don’t think they do either. But I think Romney can beat him by accident.

hmm a contributor at Cpunch went up to the Occupy Hartford (CT):

[S]o too is the city’s heartbreaking poverty (the official jobless rate is thirty-three percent, the highest in the nation).

I asked a group of Occupiers whether they have formed Obamaville, the 21st century’s Hooverville. It was fitting that they missed the point of my question. Brian leapt in. “I’m not here for any politician,” he said, “I’m against all political parties. Our politics are the problem.” Talk of the Occupy movement being co-opted by the Democratic Party had come here, and it had been rejected. “This is not for Obama,” Dave interjected, “but it is our fight against the corporations.”

I heard much the same thing at Wall Street. There is no appetite for Obama.

. . . .

Jeffrey Harris had recently lost his job, and then his wife died. Returning home from the hospital on the public bus, Jeffrey saw the tent city. He got off at the nearest bus stop, walked over and has stayed. The epidemic of foreclosures in the city angered and saddened Jeffrey, a pleasant man who wore his life’s tragedies with grace. “It’s crazy,” he said of the inequality in the city. “It’s a bunch of bullshit. These guys, the corporate elite, have to back down and give us something. It’s crazy man. When the system’s not working, then it has to be fixed.”

Such sentiments are commonplace at the Occupied camps that I have visited. John Pitman, standing near Jeffrey concurred. “People that are out here are here to bring back the country from the corporates,” he said. I asked John what gave him hope through his agitation. “Hope?” he said, “It’s not hope. It’s survival. I want to take back what belongs to us.” . . . .

I don’t like or trust Ray McGovern (t’s always all about him and too often his love for what I call the “Papa Imperialists” as in GHW and Wilkerson/Scowcroft… and those older creeps)…

but he does have soemthing up on CIA Petraeus Iran Mexico Little Lamb of Araby Ambassador whatnot stuffery

How Petraeus Fueled the Plot

The CIA and the Iran Caper

by RAY McGOVERN

Washington Post columnist David Ignatius, in his accustomed role as unofficial surrogate CIA spokesman, has thrown light on how the CIA under its new director, David Petraeus, helped craft the screenplay for this week’s White House spy feature: the Iranian-American-used-car-salesman-Mexican-drug-cartel plot to assassinate the Saudi ambassador to the U.S.

In Thursday’s column, Ignatius notes that, initially, White House and Justice Department officials found the story “implausible.” It was. But the Petraeus team soon leapt to the rescue, reflecting the four-star-general-turned-intelligence-chief’s deep-seated animus toward Iran.

Before Ignatius’s article, I had seen no one allude to the fact that much about this crime-stopper tale had come from the CIA. In public, the FBI had taken the lead role, presumably because the key informant inside a Mexican drug cartel worked for U.S. law enforcement via the Drug Enforcement Administration.

However, according to Ignatius, “One big reason [top U.S. officials became convinced the plot was real] is that CIA and other intelligence agencies gathered information corroborating the informant’s juicy allegations and showing that the plot had support from the top leadership of the elite Quds Force of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps, the covert action arm of the Iranian government.”

Ignatius adds that, “It was this intelligence collected in Iran” that swung the balance, but he offers no example of what that intelligence was. He only mentions a recorded telephone call on Oct. 4 between Iranian-American cars salesman Mansour Arbabsiar and his supposed contact in Iran, Gholam Shakuri, allegedly an official in Iran’s Quds spy agency.

. . . .

“But why the use of Mexican drug cartels?” asks Ignatius rhetorically, before adding dutifully: “U.S. officials say that isn’t as implausible as it sounds.”

But it IS as implausible as it sounds, says every professional intelligence officer I have talked with since the “plot” was somberly announced on Tuesday.

It may not be obvious to you, but the decisions you make daily, as well as this system you are a part of, these things are not working for us. Our goal is bring power back where it belongs, with the people, so we can fix what politicians and corporations have screwed up.

Welp, here’s my story… and I’m stickin to it, necessarily so. LOL.
Just boggled here now..also feeling very old and rejuvenated at the same time. I went over to the city with two friends, leaving our car near Union NJ.

As heavy a police presence in Newark to get on the Path train as we could ever recall. I don’t know why, we were just goin in early for some stake and eggs at Delmonico’s so to speak. Way early for Delmonico’s. So we get to the park right after the good news early this am, as people were rolling out for a stroll and the New Jersey trees of us figure, Hell, needing the exercise, we could check out our meager bank balances at one of those neato ATM machines over by a conveniently located Chase branch on the way. A whole lot of convenient banking down there. 😆 Anyways, no sooner do we stroll around the corner with amiable like minded folks when all hell breaks loose. Just like that. Look man, plausibly, it wasn’t like anyone of us wanted to go to the NYSE and FUCK. SHIT. UP. AnD DIE BanKSTER PIG MOTHERFUCKERS .

plausibly.

I didn’t see the first cop swing about 30 yards ahead of us but I did see this big guy, pretty tall, easy to see in a blue rain slicker who wasn’t about to take any shit from the White Shirts. He just grabbed one and peeled him right the fuck off like a banana from the spontaneous jackelry set upon whoever was getting the beat-down. Now I’ve been there before but one thing I’ve never seen, and this is what really blows me away, The thing I’ll NEVER forget from today because frankly I’ve never seen it before on cops , a veritable existential crisis coming across their faces. Seriously. No spin about it. Now look, I’m not naive or foolish enough to believe in swell prospects of much of anything anymore, let alone over the short term. And not joking nor engaging in wishful thinking over how it will play out…But there is something that is rising up out of this for whatever reason or set of circumstance that is different, Authentic different. Bigger different. Relevant different. Oh that dawning insight – same one you could see flash if only for a moment across many of the cops faces – was quickly interrupted by the next set of NYPD supervisors and , the whole Zen thing of it dropping from hand as they herded our half of the street back upon us towards Broadway. Things then, IMHO, reached normal protest pissed-ation levels as most people headed back towards Zucotti. We heard there were arrests in another location tho I’m not sure where.

Having …other vocational and avocational obligations, moral imperatives, Church socials, plea agreements, illicit activities, political extortion to attend to and what have you – LOL…we were in the city for a total of about 2 and half hours and then headed home to Central Jersey and points beyond…

.

Seems they shut down the tunnel in the afternoon.

marisacat - 14 October 2011

That existential thing… it almsot had to happen. SO much is wrong…so much.

I’d say you had a good day… 😉

BooHooHooMan - 14 October 2011

It’s there, a fissure revealing itself alongside the standard operating procedure of reactionary force. Which they’ll move quickly to cement in police place. BUT….it is there…Quite aside from the perfunctory push/pull in nascent “grievance” actions: the psyops on part of the PTB vs. *heretofore* ( at least in the last 35 years ) *heretofore* unproductive agit-prop and ground-holding rising from the streets.

Their Masters have taken SO much and have SO alienated everyone that now they have, well , everyone coming for them… at once.

I guess in a way we can all thank Goldman Sachs and the Boys for filling the whole Maoist void ….

I’m afraid that here the movement is dominated by the “usual suspects” and the personality issues/control dramas have me worried that our occupation will be a sideshow. I was to busy making chotchkies for 1%ers to make the first meeting, and was in Cali for the second. But I got reports from friends and it is problematic; “they” moved the occupation from a bank-surrounded, high visibility park (with Poncho Villa Statue!), to an out of the way park, convinced the kids who showed up with sleeping bags at the first meeting to WAIT! (a couple of Nogaleno kids had to call me to get a ride home), not utilizing Tucson Meet Yourself or 2nd Saturdays Downtown (thousands of bergers come to downtown) and making sure we don’t “interfere” with them. Honestly, besides making sure they control things I don’t know what those (not mentioning names, innertubes too small) people do with their organization “skills” other than put together spouse-swapping parties (true story about Tucson “greens” 😳 who btw have not one elected official here)

US Special Forces Mission to Africa Planned For More Than a Year

The story is that they are now released from elsewhere.

The official was optimistic that US forces …[will]find and …[kill] Lord’s Resistance Army leader Joseph Kony and other senior LRA leaders although the official doubted that Kony …[won’t] allow himself to be taken alive [if the MIC can help it].

The mission is intended to be training , “not operational,” according to the official. I asked him to explain and he said that the U.S. forces will indeed be going out on “training” patrols with the Africans , which he said could indeed be dangerous, but if the Africans actually execute a mission to go find Kony or senior leaders the U.S. trainers will not go with them.

“If it is intelligence driven and they are conducting a specific raid, U.S. will not go,” he said.

The official said that in the past few days there have been big discussions about whether congress …[wasn’t] notified [not that matters in the slightest] and it was determined notification must be made because [even though] the U.S. troops are “combat equipped.”

(bracketed comments mine, …….Filthy Nasty Lying Scum, …or do I need some magic, happy, reading glasses?)

(sorry, should have inserted an “end blockquote” after: U.S. troops are “combat equipped.”)

marisacat - 15 October 2011

Kony has read the script.

I think it is an utter waste of time to bleat about congress.

Speaking of scripts, more dissembling on NPR vis. Uni-mexi-ranian bomber, but if you read between the lines an interesting possible narrative:

WikiLeaks Cable Hints At Motive For Alleged Iran Plot

“If the Iranians wanted to carry out a sophisticated plot against people in the United States or elsewhere, they can and they have. They haven’t done it for decades. When they did it, they’ve done it with much more skill than seems to be connected to this plot,” he says.

snip

[Ahmadinejad’s camp has] sent many signals that they want to re-establish the relation with the United States. But the opposite camp in the Iran power hierarchy that is led by Ayatollah Khamenei doesn’t want it.

– says Muhammad Sahimi, University of Southern California

“In fact in many ways this plays into the Saudi narrative of Iranian belligerency and gangsterism and disruptiveness in the politics of the Middle East,” Hashemi says.

But if this was indeed a real plot meant to end in murder and mayhem in Washington, Hashemi says Iran almost certainly would face military retaliation.

“I just don’t see how the Islamic Republic of Iran benefits from effectively providing a casus belli for the United States to attack it because of a particular plot or assassination attempt on its soil, or by increasing regional tensions with Saudi Arabia,” he says.

So, Mcgovern see’s Petraeus’s and Israelis hand behind this fake dagger and it fits into a Saudi narrative. hmmm with the latin american drug runner narc providing the milieu I think we should sing a robust round of “hail, hail the gangs all here” (reminds me of tables of odd fellows I’ve seen in Belizean bars)

BooHooHooMan - 15 October 2011

God of Bunga Bunga Bling…spread around Parliament poodles…

He is deploying a tactic

Even with Mr Berlusconi’s survival, our correspondent says most Italians are betting on a general election as early as next spring – more than a year before the prime minister’s term expires.

Mr Berlusconi is likely to call further votes of confidence in the coming weeks, our correspondent says, as this is his trick for staying in power.

He faces almost daily calls for his resignation.

The confidence vote was forced after parliament on Tuesday failed to approve one article of the budget by a single vote. It later emerged that the finance minister had failed to meet the ballot deadline by 30 seconds.

Despite facing four trials – including for allegedly paying for sex with a 17-year-old girl – and an all-time-low approval rating of 24%, Mr Berlusconi has shown remarkable staying power. He has always maintained his innocence.
Berlusconi in numbers

* At least 51 votes of confidence (including 14 October vote) in his government since it took power in 2008
* Three election victories – 1994, 2001 and 2008
* Two election defeats – 1996 and 2006
* Four ongoing trials
* $9bn – net worth of Berlusconi and his family (Forbes, 2010)
* 2,500 court appearances at 106 trials over 20 years

On Saturday, he also faces a mass demonstration of some 200,000 people in Rome – similar to recent ones in New York and Madrid – against austerity measures and financial mismanagement.

Italy is considered vulnerable in the current eurozone crisis, with the highest public debt among countries using the European single currency.

.. the repeated confidence votes which, according to my read anyways, is designed to tie himself around complicit poodle’s necks lest they try to feign all Partisan on him before the commendable roving bands of Communists move in..

welp, being a devout hollowood patriot myself (no really!!!!!!), I can’t help but wonder if Silvio wasn’t saved by that touching visit, by Ambassador Clooney (Savior to Africa), to Silvio’s Bedroom to view Vladimir’s Double Bed.

[UN Ambassador!!!!!!!!!] Clooney, who owns an 18th century villa in Northern Italy, flatly denied attending the event claiming the only time he has met with the Italian leader was at the 2008 meeting in Rome.

He said he would be happy to give evidence on behalf of Berlusconi.

(bolding and bracketed insert mine ……Please allow this George worshiper her dreams, that the the Alpha Omega $US$ took a very special role in the decision!!!!!! (no really! ….what? okay …..GARROTE EM ALL and my tear ducts likely wouldn’t be flooding.))
